I Love You More

Chapter 71

Asres and Gallus hadn't made love in six months, so when Asres returned to their room only to have Gallus rip his clothing off, it wasn't surprising.

Gallus was wild, yanking Asres' pants down over his backside, slapping aside his tail, bending him over a chair and pulling his hips back with a grunt. Gallus was already lubricated, and when his thick, warm penis slowly crammed between Asres' buttocks, it glided, silky and wet, right to the base. A shiver went through Asres as Gallus began to make love to him, pounding him over the chair, pants around his ankles, until he was embarrassed by his own helpless screams. Surely, everyone on the floor was hearing this! But Gallus didn't stop thrusting, didn't stop grunting and panting and breathing hot breath in Asres' ear as he held him tight and made frantic love, as if it had been six years and not six months.

Asres was taking it so hard, he fumbled not to fall and reached blindly to brace himself against the chair. Sensing that his lover was losing balance, Gallus kicked Asres' legs apart, wrapped him tight in one arm, then hunched his back and thrust inside slower, deeper.

Rocking beneath the weight of his lover, Asres glanced in a nearby mirror and could see Gallus' muscular back and buttocks flexing as he moved against him. In his reflection, Asres thought he looked so small in the bigger male's grasp, mouth hanging open, brows frowning, like captured prey, taken so hungrily and eagerly. And without a word.

Asres closed his eyes and moaned, and his little penis stood rigid against the cold air, wobbling from every deep thrust. Gallus stroked it carefully in his fingers and buried a kiss in Asres' neck, humping him over the back of the chair until he squirted with a cry in Gallus' strong fist. Panting and weak, Asres slumped in Gallus' arm, and he felt the bigger male tense, heard him grunt as he released inside. Asres trembled as the hot blast filled him, trembled as Gallus' hard body shuddered to release every last, warm drop. He whimpered in Asres' ear as he came, and when he was soft again, he slumped against him, his muscular body panting and heavy and hard. His large fingers were still stroking Asres' penis, now soft as it was gently caressed between finger and thumb.

Asres felt his penis flinching and heaving and stiffening again, and he whispered breathlessly for Gallus to stop. The big Beauceron obeyed the request, letting Asres go with a kiss on the cheek and turning to the washbasin on the dresser, where he washed his large penis clean. After a moment of panting desperately over the back of the chair, Asres stepped out of his pants and joined Gallus at the basin.

"You knew I was coming to bed," Asres said after a while. He was speaking in fox tongue.

"Yes," Gallus answered in fox tongue.

"You been spying on me?" Asres asked, caught somewhere between amazement and amusement.

"Yes," Gallus admitted unapologetically. "How else will I keep you safe?"

Asres smiled. He watched out of the corner of his eye as Gallus cleaned his penis. Like most Beauceron, Gallus had a penis like an imported sausage. He was specifically bred for it, as most Beauceron were used to entertain at parties, where they wrestled and made love for the amusement of the guests. The big brown dick in his careful fingers smelled sweet and musky, and now as he was washing it, it smelled like perfumed soap. Asres could still feel the thrust of it in his backside, as if it were still there, holding him open, massaging him deep down. He wanted to suck it. It had been so long since he'd gone down on Gallus. He dragged his eyes away and washed his own cum-covered penis, which he caught Gallus staring at once or twice.

"How is Yennie?" Asres asked. "She didn't come to me today." He rubbed soap on his thighs and took a washcloth to them: the cum had dribbled all the way down his front.

"Yeneneshe seemed better today. Though . . ." Gallus' face darkened. "I think King Damon has his eye on her. He knows she is of his lands. He thinks he can seduce her."

Asres scowled. "What! That sick bastard. She's just a child!" He shook his head in disgust, and his black brows creased down sharp over his eyes. "He's trying to entice her away to be his sex slave! So many vixens have been fetished by dog lords, treated like little more than toys -- If he lays a _paw_on her --!"

"I won't let anything happen to her," Gallus assured Asres and looked him directly in the eye. "I promise."

Asres looked at Gallus a long time, and seeing the adamant glint in his eyes, he nodded and returned to bathing.

Gallus returned to bathing as well.

"But what will you do?" Asres said wearily. "You can't assault the king of Poston! You're a dog but your entire breed is subjugated. And even if it weren't, he'd still be in his rights to have to you executed."

"We'll simply leave."

Asres' head snapped up and his ears pricked forward. "What?"

"I know you don't want to leave Etienne behind," Gallus added gently, apologetically, "but we have to think of Yeneneshe's safety. If she doesn't want to leave the boy, he can come with us."

Asres smiled: by "the boy" Gallus meant Ettoras. Over the last week, Gallus had come to like Ettoras for his quiet, gentle nature. When Asres thought about it, Ettoras was a bit like a Beauceron. Asres had never met Ettoras face to face, of course. Like his sister, Ettoras had never once come to see Etienne, and Asres hadn't left the room in months, so there was no chance for him to stumble upon Ettoras in the hall. Asres only knew what he'd heard from Gallus, Teliso, and Judith, who all came to visit Etienne regularly. It was surprising to discover that the prince of the sky was so . . . grounded. According to the others, Ettoras _did_have the standard Emerald temper, but catching a glimpse of it was rare.

Asres didn't know how he'd expected Etienne's son to act or why he was surprised. Perhaps he'd expected Ettoras to be more like Etienne: sarcastic and humorous and completely comfortable - even confident -- in his sexuality. Ettoras seemed to be the exact opposite. Teliso even told Asres that he caught Ettoras eying his tail, but the prince of the sky seemed to be ashamed of the fact.

Zeinara, meanwhile, couldn't be more like Etienne if she tried. Just talking once with the princess of Varimore, Asres could see Etienne's sarcastic humor and temper, combined with the ferocity of spirit and determination Taiga had always carried. Zeinara was more wonderful than Asres had ever dreamed. When Zeinara walked through the door earlier that evening, it was like Taiga had suddenly entered out of no where. He remembered how his heart stopped and how he couldn't move and how eternally grateful he was that Zeinara didn't even notice he was there until long after he'd composed himself.

"When do you want to leave?" Asres asked unhappily.

Gallus frowned sadly and squeezed his lover's shoulder. "I know this is difficult for you. If Etienne doesn't wake in another day, I think we should go as soon as possible."

Asres stared at the washbasin, his reflection almost obscure in the candlelit gloom. "Is Damon that close to finally . . . ?" He trailed off. He didn't think he could say the words "raping Yeneneshe."

"I think so," Gallus said, his voice low and angry.

"Then . . ." Asres sighed heavily. "We should leave and leave soon. How is Teliso? If we left with Yeneneshe and Ettoras, I wouldn't want to leave him behind."

"Good luck with that," Gallus said wearily. "Teliso grows more attached to Axel each day, and Axel would never leave the princess. She loves the castle. It's . . . her home." He paused and swallowed hard, and Asres realized for the first time just how much Gallus had missed living in Wychowl.

Asres' ears flattened and he bowed his head and focused on bathing. Gallus had been homesick all these years? Perhaps he'd even hated living in the forest but had endured it all for the sake of Asres and Yeneneshe. He suffered in silence. It was his way. And it only made Asres love him more.

"To get Axel to leave Wychowl would take some convincing," Gallus went on. "But I'm almost certain she might leave if Teliso came with us. I would ask, but I've grown wary of seeking Teliso's company, as I often find them humping over every piece of furniture in his chambers."

Asres shook his head bitterly. "I had such hope that he would love Yeneneshe."

"Yeneneshe has made a fine match in Ettoras," Gallus answered, almost scolding. "The boy is strong and kind. He will take good care of her." He looked down at Asres, frowning in silent reprimand. But after a pause, his face smoothed of anger and he laughed. "Yeneneshe and Teliso don't even like each other. When they first met, she nearly scratched his eyes out. She carries great love and affection for Ettoras, though."

"But Ettoras has no magic," Asres impatiently pointed out. "He can't protect her from other foxes, Gallus. She would be protecting him!"

"What's wrong with that?" Gallus returned pointedly.

Asres paused and blinked. "I . . ." He didn't have an answer, and he realized he sounded just like his father: dictating the lives of others and clinging blindly to tradition, even at the cost of his child's happiness. "I just . . ." Asres dropped his eyes to the washbasin in shame. "All my life, Taiga protected me." He swallowed hard. "It wasn't right. I should have been protecting her. Or at least strong enough to protect myself! You almost died_protecting me from that assassin, Gallus." Asres frowned and whispered sadly, "You almost _died . . ." He lifted his eyes when Gallus touched the back of his fingers to his cheek.

"There is no shame in needing protection," Gallus said soothingly. His eyes softened and he kissed Asres on the lips. "I protect you because I want to, because that's what you do when you love someone."

Asres' heart fluttered. They returned to washing, and he suddenly felt lighthearted.

"Would it be so bad if Teliso stayed here?" Gallus said at length. "He could be a great asset to your kind. Judith suggested that he could become a sort of fox ambassador --"

Asres snorted. "That will be the day."

"He could have a life here," Gallus insisted. "He could be happy."

". . . I know," Asres said unhappily, his long lashes angled down. "It's just . . . I'm afraid to leave him alone."

"There's nothing to fear anymore, mi sihle," Gallus said gently. "If Azrian is right, then the gods can't hurt Teliso anymore." He glared at the washbasin and said darkly, "They can't hurt anyone."

They fell silent for a time, and Asres tried to reconcile himself with the fact that when they left, Teliso would not be with them. He had become attached to the young fox, though. Yeneneshe was his daughter and he wanted Teliso to be his son. He wanted to watch his fox children fall in love and grow old and have children of their own. He wanted to watch his family flourish, and there was no guarantee of that if Yeneneshe chose Ettoras instead. He also just liked Teliso more. Perhaps because he saw himself in Teliso.

"How was Etienne?" Gallus asked.

Asres thought he heard a tinge of jealousy in his lover's voice, but he pushed down his guilt and ignored it. He had done nothing wrong, but he knew he'd lied to Zeinara: Gallus wasn't exactly fine with his devotion to Etienne and no, he didn't understand.

Gallus had known about Asres' feelings for Etienne for years. Because Maret seemed to want that Asres should fall in love with Gallus, Asres was defiant and resisted in the beginning. He told Gallus upfront about his past, talking about Feven and Etienne and his feelings for them in the hope that it would only discourage Gallus from taking interest. Nothing discouraged Gallus. And before long, the two of them were making love in the rain, as crickets chirruped and the dark forest sang.

It was several years before Asres fully understood why Maret had sent him to Gallus and Yeneneshe. It was because Maret wished to keep Yeneneshe away from Wychowl, where she was to have ruled had Yfel's clans succeeded. Maret wanted to keep Yeneneshe isolated, wanted not only to keep her away from Wychowl but also afraid of it. What better way to do that than to insure her adopted parents were unified against her ever leaving the forest? What better way to do that than to torture the girl with nightmares of her time in Wychowl?

It was a simple and yet brilliant plan, one that kept Yeneneshe exactly where Maret wanted her while her own child - Zeinara - ruled the free world. Once Asres realized the truth of it all - that Maret had been sending Yeneneshe the nightmares, that Maret had inflicted suffering on his child -- he was furious and felt helpless to really oppose Maret. What could he do to stop her? What could he do to protect Yeneneshe and Gallus from all that was happening? Absolutely nothing. Leaving them wouldn't solve anything, and after years of living with them like family, he couldn't even conceive of leaving him. Thus he did Maret's willed - he stayed where she appointed him - with all the bitterness and spite he could muster.

Yet still, at the end of the day, Maret's plan had ultimately failed, as Yeneneshe could very well rule Wychowl -- and because of Zeinara, the very one Maret herself had placed on the throne. Asres smiled everyday at the irony of that.

It was also suddenly very obvious to Asres why King Damon would want Yeneneshe out of the way: heknew who she and Ettoras were. If Ettoras and Yeneneshe took Zeinara's place as Etienne's successors, Damon's son would not become king of the world, and Damon would not become king of the world by proxy. Thinking of it all made Asres suddenly very tired. Ye gods, he hated politics.

"Etienne was exactly the same as the day before," Asres answered Gallus heavily. He shook his head, and his wild black mane shifted around his shoulders. "And the day before that . . . and the day before that . . ."

"You try sucking his dick? That could wake him up," Gallus said, slight irritation in his voice.

"I could suck your dick in front of him," Asres answered. "Bet you'd like that."

Gallus laughed flatly. "Or maybe he would."

They fell silent for a time. Asres didn't want to talk about Etienne, and he was suddenly very tired of assuring Gallus that his feelings for Etienne would never get in the way of what they had. But it was his fault, after all. In those early days that he had known Gallus, he had done what he could to push him away, to make him think that he loved Etienne and no one else. He'd made the bed. Now he had to lay in it.

"Do you love him?" Gallus asked. "Give me a straight answer this time, and I'll never ask again."

Asres sighed, suddenly very tired. "Gallus --" he began wearily.

"Do you love him?" Gallus repeated, frowning, not looking at Asres.

"Yes," Asres said.

The silence between them was excruciating.

"I'll always love him." Asres stared off, smiling thoughtfully. "Perhaps my sister and I are more alike than I care to admit." He cleared his throat and dipped his fingers in the water again. "But I love you more. And that's the end of it." He frowned, waiting for Gallus to protest or argue. But Gallus didn't say a word.

The water plopped when Asres accidentally dropped the soap in. Gallus fished the soap out for him. Their fingers touched when Asres took the soap, slippery and lathered and smooth. Gallus' eyes softened, and after rubbing his soapy fingers and thumb together, he reached for Asres' penis and gently massaged it with his wet fingertips. Asres bit his lip as he started to lengthen and harden.

"G-Gallus . . . I'm so tired --"

"Mmm . . . then just lay there," Gallus whispered and gathered Asres into his arms. He carried him to the bed, and held tightly in his lover's embrace, Asres clung to his neck, suddenly feeling drowsy and tired and content, even as his penis stood harder and thicker. He was throbbing with arousal when Gallus sat him on the bed. And then Gallus was kneeling between his thighs and dragging his heavy, wet, warm dog-tongue against him. His head went up and down in Asres' lap, his brows pushed together as he frowned with delight, his drooling mouth was slippery with saliva that oozed hot down Asres' rigid phallus and over his heavy sack. Gallus licked his sack and sucked gently on it, dragging his tongue eagerly and hungrily over every tender part between Asres' thighs.

Asres' face was contorted and strained from the tongue bathing, and his small paws curled tight in Gallus' silky black mane, his thin chest heaved. He was going to come, and when his entire body tensed, Gallus whispered for him to relax and rubbed his thighs as he sucked him slower, longer.

"A-Ah . . .!" Asres heard himself gasp as he finally let go, and the sound of Gallus gulping and licking was almost unbearably loud in the silence. Gallus had always thoroughly enjoyed swallowing. When Asres opened his eyes again, he saw his own cum staining the Beauceron's mouth and chin. Gallus licked it away with glazed eyes, looking at Asres as if he might devour him.

"You are so beautiful," Gallus whispered and touched Asres' face.

Asres smiled. He glanced down and noticed that Gallus was rock hard and dripping with cum. His penis was enormous in his arousal.

Gallus noticed Asres looking, and with hooded eyes, he grabbed Asres by the hips and him pulled down toward his lap. Asres gasped as his back slid against the edge of the bed, as the Beauceron's enormous cock slowly crammed, soapy and wet, between his squirming buttocks. His head fell back against the bed as he was filled and he gasped at the ceiling. Gallus felt so warm and thick and good, he shivered all over.

"Make love to me, baby," Gallus whispered, his eyes warm.

Asres smiled at his doting look, and looking his lover in the eye, he put his arms around his neck and gently, slowly rode his lap. Gallus' arms were shaking the deeper his cock slid. They gasped and sighed, their lips close, their foreheads touching. Asres didn't stop until Gallus had come inside him, and when the hot liquid filled him, he shivered right down his tail and slumped in his lover's arms. Without pulling out, Gallus climbed up in the bed with Asres in his arms and lay there holding him. Asres lay on Gallus' chest and nuzzled his head under his chin and was drowsy and content enough to fall asleep with Gallus inside him.

"You're still hard," Asres whispered sleepily. "Still hard inside me . . ."

"Feels good, doesn't it?" Gallus whispered back, stroking Asres' long back mane with a lazy paw. He buried a kiss in his mane. "Go ahead and sleep. When you wake up it'll still be there."

Asres laughed at the joke. "Even you can't stay hard that long - mfh!" He cried out when Gallus thrust his hips.

Gallus grabbed Asres' backside in fistfuls and thrust himself up and in, spreading Asres' cheeks in strong fingers as his thick cock slipped inside, pounding against the straining pink anus that tightened the moment thrusting began again. Asres' tail lifted on reflex, and he cried out as Gallus made frenzied love to him. His penis stiffened against Gallus' stomach, and after several minutes of gasping and panting, Asres felt himself erupt. He cried out and his body tensed when Gallus erupted in turn inside of him, the hot cum over-spilling, seeping from his anus and over Gallus' shaft.

Panting and weak, Gallus finally pulled his veined cock from Asres, and Asres slumped as he felt himself squeezing up tight again. His tail dropped, and his cheek dropped again to Gallus' chest, and they lay there in the dark, breathing gently, as rain lashed against the windows.

There were only a few candles lit in the room, and it hit Asres for the first time how romantic the atmosphere was. Gallus had set everything up for their lovemaking. It made Asres incredibly happy. He closed his eyes and smiled at Gallus lovingly stroked his mane.

"Now we're covered in . . ." Asres whispered.

"I'll bathe you in a moment . . . just let me hold you."

Asres smiled and closed his eyes as Gallus rubbed his back.

"Why doesn't Azrian go to him?" Gallus wondered at length.

"Who?" Asres muttered sleepily. He felt so happy and content and tired, he couldn't even think. The sound of Gallus' heartbeat thrumming through his chest was soothing.

Gallus laughed softly at Asres' sleepy confusion. "Etienne. Why doesn't Azrian go to Etienne? I thought she loved him."

"She does," Asres said sadly. "I think it's hard for her, seeing him that way. I think she would be content to leave here without ever speaking to him once. She stays because of Ettoras. She doesn't appear to want to return to S'pru. And what could she do for it? Her immortal light was taken."

"I pity her," Gallus whispered. "If you were hurt like that, it would break me in half. I can't imagine what she is enduring. . . . what she has endured."

Asres smiled. "You sound like you admire her a great deal."

"She protected me," Gallus said. "When Helene led her coup here in Wychowl, she would have killed anyone close to Azrian. I was Azrian's servant for a time after Primus, which means I would have been killed alongside her. Azrian sent me far away when she could have ordered me to stay and help her. She actually . . . cared about my life." Gallus shook his head in amazement. "No one ever cares about a Beauceron's life. Especially a fox."

Asres listened sadly to the amazement in Gallus' voice. "And yet here you lay," he said with a laugh, "with a fox in your arms."

Gallus smiled. "Yes, I suppose I was wrong about foxes. But you have to admit it's true: not many care for my breed. We're pets to the dogs, pitiful slaves in the eyes of foxes. Many slave breeds such as Beauceron enjoy serving a good master . . . but when we are treated with cruelty and malice, no one cares. The dogs don't even have laws to protect us! Primus died a brutal and pointless death. I was certain I was next." Gallus swallowed hard. "I tried to hide it from Azrian, but I was so scared."

Asres rubbed Gallus' chest.

"I owe her my life," Gallus went on, "so it hurts me that she is so unhappy in hers. I think you should talk to her, ask her to visit Etienne. Maybe she could wake him."

Asres sighed. "Gallus! This isn't a fairy tale. She won't wake him with a kiss. He'll lay there in a coma and she'll break down crying and it'll be my fault for pushing her to see him."

"You told me they used to meet in the Halfway Place, which is some kind of dream world or something," Gallus insisted.

"Close," answered Asres in amusement. "It is both the spirit realm and a place of dreams, where the dead go before they are reborn."

"Why couldn't she meet him there again? Foxes don't have to be immortal to go there."

Asres paused. That was true. "You've been thinking about this," Asres realized. "At length."

"Yes," Gallus admitted. "As I said, I only wish for her happiness."

"It could work," Asres said thoughtfully. "That only leaves what will happen once Etienne is awake. Zeinara doesn't want to marry Sterling, but King Damon will push for it. He's determined to see his son on the Emerald throne."

"I think she loves the Kayya girl."

"She does," Asres said heavily. He sighed. "All of this would be much easier if Zeinara would just fall madly in love with Sterling."

"Since when is love easy?" Gallus said. "Or life for that matter." He started kissing Asres on the neck, and Asres felt his cheeks get hot when his lover's big paws grabbed his backside and squeezed. "Mmm . . . lift your tail, Asres . . . I'm still . . . mm . . . so hard . . ." Gallus muttered between kisses.

"Oh, Gallus . . ." Asres whispered breathlessly when the Beauceron's careful fingers slipped inside him. "G-Gallus, please . . . that's making me so hard . . ."

"That's the point."

"I'm so tired . . ."

"We have six months to make up for! Just lay there. I'll do all the heavy lifting."

Asres laughed. "No. I miss making love to you . . ." He sat up, and in the candlelight, he thought Gallus looked beautiful lying under him, his black body toned with muscles, his warm eyes reflecting the flames like water.

Asres braced his paws on his lover's rippling belly, and after lifting his tail, he looked Gallus in the eye as he slowly brought his tight anus down over his cock. Gallus moaned as Asres clenched on him. Looking at Asres intently, he took his phallus in paw and gently fondled it to rigid standing. Asres frowned and sighed as he was fondled, and eyes still locked with Gallus, he moved his hips as he began to slowly ride.

Asres awoke later when the first rays of sunlight tickled his eyelids. He yawned and smiled to find himself held fast in Gallus' big arm, with his cheek on his lover's chest. The bed sheets were pulled over them, the room was bright with streams of pale sunlight, and candles everywhere were expelling their perfume as each wick drowned in a pool of wax. Gallus smiled in his sleep and smoothed his paw up Asres' naked back. His arms held Asres tight, and Asres smiled when he felt Gallus' tail affectionately tangle with his.

"Gallus," Asres whispered, "you have to get up. I need you to do something."

"Mmm . . . I'll suck your dick later, mi sihle . . . I promise . . . You can come in my mouth . . . I know you like that . . ."

Asres felt his cheeks get hot when he realized he did indeed have morning wood. "No," he said, rubbing Gallus' chest. "I want you to talk to Azrian."

Gallus opened his eyes at once. "Do what?"

They sat up against the pillows together, and Gallus looked at Asres in amazement.

"What you said last night," Asres explained, "about the Halfway Place . . . Azrian is probably the only one who could reach Etienne there. Which means she's the only one who could wake him up. Even without her immortality, she's still the daughter of Ti'uu. She's still . . . Nadheertia."

"But why do I have to talk to her about it?" Gallus asked unhappily.

"Azrian doesn't even know me," Asres said.

Gallus looked at his lover skeptically. "You're afraid. You fear she will be angry that you once kept Etienne prisoner . . . that you and your sister demanded a child of him and seduced him."

"There's that too," Asres admitted. "Maret wanted to replace Azrian with Taiga. Why wouldn't she be suspicious of me?" Asres closed his paw on Gallus' knee. "But she knows you."

Gallus didn't look happy.

"Why don't you want to talk to her?" Asres wondered, and his ears flattened when Gallus dropped his eyes.

"Azrian made me promise never to bring Yeneneshe back here," Gallus said to his lap. "I promised - then I brought her here, and now she's in danger." He swallowed hard, his eyes flat and angry at the very thought of King Damon. "This place is full of peril and evil. It echoes with old pain. To think I ever missed being here."

Asres frowned sadly and rubbed Gallus' shoulder. "I'm sure Azrian isn't angry with you. She knows you did your best. And I think you should at least talk to her before we leave. She cares about you. Judith said she asks about you every now and then."

Gallus sighed. "Alright." He glanced out the window. "Where would she be this time of day? She never comes to breakfast."

"She shadows Ettoras and Yeneneshe through the gardens. She likes to watch over them."

Gallus kissed Asres on the head, then got up and got dressed.
