#2 of Ever Changing

As I enter the room I don't notice anything special about it. But when the door closed utter darkness descends upon the room. I can't see anything.

"Step forward" came a deep baritone voice. I didn't hesitate and immediately began walking forward.

"This one seems different" a nasally voice says.

"Yes he does seem different" says the baritone voice. "When you entered the temple what did you see on the tapestries?" So I told him about the sword, the eye, the man, the rose, the shield, and the one of myself and the strange silhouette.

"That is an intriguing array. I've not seen this in a long time" says the one with the nasally voice. "Your name shall now be Necro Dimonis. You will learn from Shade. He will teach you what you need to know."

"From here on you are in the Brotherhood. You must follow all the tenants. And your reward is sanctuary here and other rewards for your accomplished missions" says the baritone.

"Now return to Shade and begin your life and tell him to take you to Luna" nasally voice says. With that light floods into the room.

I left the room filled with questions. What did it mean by array, why is my new name Necro, and why did I seem different to them.

I stop outside the door and hear Shade say "Seeing you walking out of there means you survived. So what did they tell you to do?"

"They told me that my name is now Necro, you will be my teacher, you are also to give me my equipment and I'm to meet Luna" I respond.

"Let's get your equipment first" he says while turning around and walking down the hall. After walking past three doors he stops at the fourth and goes through the door on the right. "This hall is the equipment hall. Any weapon, armor, or enchanted piece of equipment we have that isn't in use is down here" he informed me. "Let's start by getting you a new outfit."

The hall was rather short with only seven doors, three on each side and one at the end. He walked to the third one on the left. I followed closely as I was really interested in what he would give me.

When we enter the room it looks like it was in complete chaos, but Shade was looking through everything like he had memorized the room. He came back with cloths almost exactly like his. The only difference was that these had a maroon dragon on them. The tail started at the left heel, wrapped around the shin, went across the knee and then up the back leg to cross the buttocks, wrapped around the stomach and then rested its head on the right shoulder, with the left fore paw on the left shoulder the, right fore paw on the right bicep, and the hind claws resting on the hips.

"Here try this on" he said.

As I put the cloths on I notice that my dagger bones don't harm the fabric as they pass over the material. They also had holes in them so that the daggers were exposed. The outfit was all one piece that included tough leather soles on the bottom. The suit carried sheaths all over it for small to medium daggers and a slot for a sword on either hip.

"Now, Necro, this garment is special. First is that it will grow as you do. Second is that you will never have to take them off for you simply have to think about removing them they shall sink into your body. Third is that they will imbue you with powers when you most need them. Also the suit is supposed to have a spirit dwelling within them, he will help you and be a companion to you" he explained.

He then turns around and picks up some black gloves with half of a silver fox head on each and if you put them together they made a whole. He then turned to me and said "Also take these gloves, Luna will explain what these are for. Now let's get you some blades."

He left the room with me behind him, and went to the room across from us. When I entered the room I saw enough blades to arm an entire army and then some. So I had to ask "How are you going to find me blades in all this?"

"Well since I was told what to give you by the Shadows I know where all your equipment is" he explained. "Aaand here we are" he said while picking up three small daggers. "These will not dull or break. Put one on your leg, one on your left armpit and the other on your right."

After he explained where to put the blades he turned and picked up a blade examined it and turned around "This will be your sword. Are you right or left handed?" I waved my left hand. "Okay so put this on your back with the hilt facing your left shoulder. Its size will increase as your size increases like your clothes, also the blade is made of a special metal and has been enchanted so that it will never dull or break and can cut through almost anything. And last but not least a sword breaker. Put this one on the small of your back like mine with the pommel facing the right. This one is like your sword in abilities and has been enchanted to be able to actually break swords, instead of just holding them in place.

"Now let us go see Luna" he says as he left the room. After leaving the equipment hall we go right until we were at the third door from the exit and turned left. "This is the medical wing. If you ever get injured head here the healers can heal almost anything." This hall is five doors longer than the equipment room. Shade went to the sixth one on the right and walked in.

When I entered the room I noticed the cougar from the sanctuary above being tended by a panther, a very unusual panther. Her fur was completely white instead of black, and had indigo eyes instead of the usual yellow.

"Good morning Luna, Vaon" Shade greeted the two.

When Shade attracted there attention the cougar, Vaon, I assume looked at me clenched his uninjured hand and said "You little shit you did this to me."

"Vaon no cussing in the medical ward" Luna admonished.

"Sorry Luna but he did this to my hand."

"This little guy did all this damage?"

"He mocked me and then got too close. I only did what I always do" I answered.

"What do you mean what you always do" Luna asked.

"When you stick your hand in a feral dog's cage it gets bitten" I said.

"That is an interesting analogy Necro" Shade observed.

"It wasn't an analogy" I stated. "You know that for six years of my life I lived in a cage" when I said that both Luna and Vaon went wide eyed.

"Yes I know. Anyway we came to see you Luna. The Shadows said you are to teach him magic" Shade said.

"Oh, he is to be a mage" Luna asked.

"Not quite. While you teach him magic I will be giving him combat training" replied Shade.

She looked slightly dumbfounded and said "No one has gone through both combat and mage training at the same time. How will he remember anything he is taught?"

"Honestly I don't know. But the Shadows decreed it" Shade said.

"Do you mind if I start his first lesson now, Shade?"

"By all means go ahead" Shade responded.

"Necro come here" Luna demands. With a quick glance at Shade I approach. "There is no set rule for magic as it seems to apply to everyone differently. Some have a specified amount of magic that they may use others have an infinite supply but must use a medium with which to work with. But what seems to be present in all mages is the fact that they must find the power in themselves before it manifests in any way. So I want you to close your eyes, Necro, and try to look for something that seems odd or out of place."

I slowly closed my eyes giving the cougar a measuring gaze before my eyes shut completely. I looked into myself slowly searching for anything that seemed odd, as Luna suggested. But something told me to look for something familiar. With this knew thought in mind I searched for the thing that I had become most comfortable with over the years.

After searching for a while I found it. This is what kept me going through the years of my miserable and short life. It is a breeze in my mind, cool, crisp, and ....free. After I found it I opened my eyes to look at Luna and said "It wasn't odd or out of place. It has always been there. It is what kept me alive."

She looked at me with a thoughtful gaze for a while and then said "You have a lot of potential Necro. Now hold on to the power and watch what I do." She then held her hand over Vaon's injured hand.

I watched for a second before saying "I've done this before." Luna looked up sharply and glared at me for a second. "I've never done it on purpose but when I would get injured from something that was thrown through the bars of my cage that feeling would come over me and I would heal almost instantly" I continued on.

She looks at me for a second before saying "Try healing this wound" while pointing to Vaon's hand.

I looked over the wound for a second before holding out my hand and said "Place your hand in mine, Vaon."

He shoots a glance at Luna, who nodded, then gently sets his hand in mine taking my feral dog statement seriously. I slowly moved the breeze around in my head, twirling the winds to make shapes in front of my awareness.

After a minute I slowly breathe on Vaon's hand and at first nothing happened. Every one but me waits with baited breath to see if the young pupil would be able to heal the wound. After a minute the cougar tensed as the flesh began to knit together.

Little did the cougar know that I could sense all of his functions, every physical feature of the cougar some how rushed into my mind. I noticed a flaw in his head and taking a closer look I realized that there was something growing in his head.

Not knowing why I slowly reached into his head with my magic and brushed the spot. With that brush I realized that he would die in a relatively short amount of time. I grabbed hold of the thing and slowly squeezed down on the mass. The thing slowly became smaller and smaller.

I noticed that as it got smaller the space that it had occupied was left empty. So when the thing was gone I examined the hole that was left. Leaving the hole seemed like a bad idea so I started to copy the cells around it until the hole was gone. With my task complete. I withdrew from the cougar and let his hand go.

"I got rid of that thing in your head for you" I say with a look to Vaon's face.

"Wait Luna didn't you say that not even the best healers could get rid of my tumor" Vaon inquires.

"Yes I did, let me check you for a second." She reached her hands up and cupped his head. After about a minute she gasped and said "Not only did he get rid of the tumor he filled on the hole left with new brain matter. That shouldn't be possible. No one has done this before and yet he did it with almost no knowledge of how the body works."

"The Shadows said that we should expect many surprises from him, but this is quite astounding" Shade said. "I also noticed that there also seemed to be no adverse affects to Necro."

"Your right, Necro do you feel anything strange" Luna inquired.

"No, Luna, I do not" I say.

"Wow, Necro that is pretty impressive. I'm in your debt" Vaon said. I was unsure how to reply to that and settled with a simple nod.

"I will teach you one more thing before you leave" Luna said regaining my attention. "It is simple to most and most likely to you with your performance just now."

She then held out her hand and after a minute a flame hovered above her hand. Since I had observed this while holding onto my magic I saw exactly how to do it. So I lifted my own hand and instantly lit a flame that was bigger than hers.

"Very impressive indeed, Necro" Luna stated.

"That is just a bit scary how easily he did that. Did you know how to do that to, Necro" Vaon inquired.

"No I did not already know how do that" I said with no outward appearance of my surprise.

"If that is the last thing you have to teach him for now I would like to show him his room so that I may get some sleep" Shade said.

"Don't you mean so that Necro can get some sleep" Vaon asked with a look of curiosity.

"No actually for some reason Necro doesn't need to sleep." which earned another shocked expression from both Vaon and Luna. "Now if you will excuse us, Necro this way."

I turned around and followed him out of the room and said "I like her."

"Luna?" I nod. "She is pretty easy to like. It's a good thing you like her you will be spending quite a bit of time with her."

After leaving the medical wing we turn left. Going down one door and turning into the right hand door. This hallway seems as long as the main hall if not longer, though it is much thinner.

"This is the living quarters. This is were any personal affects you obtain will be kept" Shade

explains. We walked down to the twentieth door and turned to the one on the right. "This is your room. Don't forget where it is, I'd rather not have to lead you back to it."

"Don't worry, Shade, I have a good memory" I said.

"What will you do while I sleep?"

"I think I will go out side and watch the stars for a while. Good night Shade."

"My room is the thirteenth on the left. If you need something ask" Shade said heading back down the hall.
