Chapter Six: Inferno, Part Two

Dustin looked forward; the shadow was standing over him. The shark quickly tried to shoot water forward, extending his hand quickly and finding nothing coming to his defense. The shadow only giggled as it stood over Dustin and put its hand out; seemingly oil was summoned, passing through the fire without being ignited.

The oil surrounded Dustin and then ignited, exploding outwards and surrounding Dustin. The shark shook and looked around as he realized he might have started to eat a massive pizza without his friends. Dustin looked as the fire quickly ran out of fuel and evaporated like nothing had ever been there. The shadow walked forward and then still not stepping out of the fire, simply grabbed its cape and turned around.

Dustin screamed in pain, the shark landing on the ground and getting knocked back as suddenly the cape slashed into his body. His face burned and landed on the concrete steps. Watching as the shadow walked through the fire, laughing as he slowly took steps as if he were savoring the moment, he then suddenly fell into the ground, disappearing into the sewer hole.

And yet the fire did not step. Dustin stood immobilized, his body feeling burnt and his face sour. Looking forward, following the patterns through the fire as suddenly he saw something on the ground, it slithered with seemingly a snake motion. And then appearing through the fire, the oil revealed itself. Dustin backed up as he put his hand behind him and raising himself up on the stairs.

Wobbling between concrete structures as Dustin stood up, he looked for a way out, he needed an escape and an escape quickly. It wasn't much but he looked back towards the alley. Dustin with all of his energy; directed himself towards it as the ice around his body started to melt and seemingly he was knocked out of the enhancement mode.

Running nearly into the building, Dustin nearly fell down and paused for a second. Behind him the fire raged and looking forward, the shark saw what he needed. Water, the flowing water of the Hudson Water, coming down pure and untouched from the valley named after it.

Dustin ran through the alley and looked back, a stream of oil was following him and the shark ran as forward as he quickly could. And then he knocked himself into a dumpster. Landing on the ground, Dustin screamed as he felt his nose start to bleed. Looking forward as he found himself facing the burning city.

Dustin backed up as he tried to face the right way. Looking forward, the shark ran around wobbling as he ran forward. Barely making it out of the alley, Dustin didn't look back as another layer of red was added to the streaming fire. Running forward, across the sidewalk, Dustin jumped over the bench, using it and propelling himself over a fence and that was when the shark tumbled down the hill.

"Shit, Fuck, Fuck, Shit, Hell!" Dustin screamed as he made a stream of explicatives down the hill. Landing and running under the 9A exit ramp, Dustin made a dash for the water of the Hudson River. Looking forward, the shark saw his next obstacle. 9A, a four lane highway and quickly the shark found an opportunity, traffic was stopped, all of it pausing to look at the raging inferno.

It defeated the purpose of the expressway and the traffic must have been getting bad but for Dustin it worked. The shark jumped up and crossed the divider. On the top of the car, the shark landed and started a full dash towards the river. To the river he went, jumping over cars and making across the expressway as he managed to cross the normally car ridden way.

Dustin made it full speed and ran pass the concrete foundation of the George Washington Bridge. Running down towards the river, Dustin made a full speed dash down the inclined hill and quickly found himself standing right over the river, the following water right behind him. Dustin was going to show then all, he could be the Outsider everyone deserved and needed.

Stretching his arms and then cracking his fingers, the shark was ready for his next and possibly greatest trick. Raising his hands into the air, the Outsider clamped down as he grabbed ahold of the water and started to pull back. Suddenly the tide started to shift, the water rose up above the river bank and into the sky.

Dustin and the car drivers on 9A looked amazed as they saw the true and full extension of the Outsiders power. Dustin grabbed ahold of the water like it was rope and started to pull at it. The water started to flow with him and Dustin started to back up, pulling the water with him like a massive rope. However in the shark's case, he was making the invisible hose a possibility. Throwing one of his arms forward, he hoped no one was out on the interstate and started to fire some water forward.

It did so and flew forward, going at least towards areas that the fire might strike next. Dustin ran forward, starting up a stairway as behind him a massive line of water followed him. Dustin laughed, maybe this was what it meant to be king of the sharks, to control you environment like it was something to be played with.

Dustin arrived at the expressway and the shark strained as he found the water pulling back against him. This time the citizens; didn't try to drive forward and respected his plan which made the Outsider feel good, his plan was being respected by the citizens of the place he loved. Still the shark pulled the water forward, climbing over the first divider and pulling all the water from the river he could.

It was going to be hard and it might get harder as he stretched a longer tube and attempted to maintain a massive suction hose as he climbed towards the fire. But the Outsider believed in himself he could do this, he could tell everyone no and beat the odds. He would do this and he would manage to beat everyone who didn't believe in him. And the Outsider pushed himself forward, he pushed at everything, he pushed for his abilities to go on full blast.

And then seemingly as Dustin's body reached it limit, the shark froze up but in the good way he had inactively entered Ice Mode. And with stronger powers the pull once again continued as the Shark made a full step every second and towards the middle divider. Under the floating stream of water, it was like a drizzle but Dustin could feel the water coming to replace it. Dustin pushed himself forward with all his might and climbed over the median.

Reaching the second half of the expressway, Dustin went full for it intending to go all the way to the fire. And the shark believed he could, he believed in Elias who believed in him and he believed in Colin who believed in him. With his full might the shark pulled forward and knew that this would be the larger, larger strain trying to get the fluid all the way up a set of stairs.

Dustin pushed himself over the second divider and started to climb on the grass, pushing himself up onto concrete and with the water in his hand, he started to sweat, the droplets freezing on his face as he did. Going around the fence and starting to climb up the set off stairs. The shark figured no reason he couldn't start this party early and with all his might started to blast the water forward.

Dustin smiled hearing the sound of fire being extinguished and that rejuvenated the shark. Dustin pushed himself forward climbing up the stairs as massive jet of water flew forward. Dustin felt the city cheering for him, this was his moment, no this was the city's moment, they were not going to throw away their shot and let someone control them, this was their way of rebelling against the bad, people this was their way of showing them who was boss and showing the people that tried to attack the city who was in charge and Dustin felt power from that.

The shark ran up the stairs with full force and knew that he had to do what was right, blasting the water at full force, Dustin could hear the people cheering for him, asking him to make the city great again and he would do just that. Dustin smiled as he heard the sound of cars stopping above him and people getting out of their car, smiling and clapping for him.

Dustin reached the top of the stairs and smiled as he started to fire the full force of the jet, summoning the water all the way from three hundred yards behind him and blasting it full force into the fire. He liked the sound of the fire withering away and pushed with all his might, hoping to accomplish it. This was Dustin's idea and this was his way of showing Ronan that he didn't need the wolf any more.

Dustin walked forward as he pushed against the city and pushed all the water he could manage into the fire. It went from blue back to red and it started to cool down, the water started to steam as it absorbed the heat of the fire. The shark smiled knowing that he had done good and walked forward as he walked through the steaming water, collecting what water he could and taking it forward with him.

Walking forward into the main street, Dustin let the water hose down onto the ground and like he expected it maintained itself. Dustin only needed to push the water out from the front; the rest would be pulled out on its own. Quickly Dustin blasted at the buildings, the jets extinguishing the fire and hopefully saving people.

Dustin walked forward, wiping the sweat off his face and looking around as he heard something in the distance. Looking over through the blue fire, Dustin blasted a jet and suddenly as it was extinguished, another jet of water had come through, firefighter had arrived. Dustin smiled knowing he had backup to put this fire out as well.

Blasting the water forward, Dustin took out the main body of the fire and walking forward started to look for the sewer grate. Looking forward, he saw something slithering. Oil was still coming out of the sewers; Dustin knew he had to put an end to that. And what better to do that than a little water? The shark thought as he aimed his hand forward and blasted down into the sewer.

Following the water into the Neuroseeker's abandoned base, would show it quickly overpowering the black muck of the sewer and pushing back deeper. From the distance, a shadow looked on as he lowered his hand and the oil came to a stop, he was angry that his plan had failed and would fall back into the distance for now.

The shadow disappeared and allowed the singular Outsider to grab this victory; it was the shark's moment so best not to ruin it. The man disappeared into the sewers and looked forward at his next plan. Raising his hand, he twisted his fingers as he closed the source of his oil and moved on to the next plan of the Neuroseekers.

And then as Dustin blasted the fire, suddenly it all stopped, the glowing blue and red settling down and seemingly all unignited oil being left on the ground. Dustin watched as the fire stopped and looked around, everything was a little charred but it could have been far worse. Breathing Dustin looked around and took a singular breath as he aimed down with his powers and exploded the suction pipe.

The Outsider took a breath.

...

Running away from the fire Dustin decided that it might be better that he disappeared from the sight of the fire, especially if the people out for his blood were still searching for him and that wouldn't be good. Running away, though the maze of alleys and sidewalks; Dustin looked around and hoped that cities still had a good opinion of him. Running forward Dustin looked around and saw no one, he paused and leaned against a dumpster, he needed rest he couldn't keep on doing this.

Looking down at his phone he wondered if he could open up the contacts and hit on Elias's name and call the two of them surely the two of them were together at that time of the day. But the shark decided against it, he didn't need to bring them in, but his finger remained above the contacts button, he could click it at any time he wanted.

The shark paused, it this was the right choice then he would be bringing more people into the conflict between him and Ronan and when did he decide that it was the contact with him and Ronan. Dustin paused he needed to rethink everything if this was his battle with Ronan then he needed to one be careful of what he did and think about everything.

Would he turn this into some kind of vendetta mission against Ronan and the Neuroseekers and would he do it alone or would he pair up with someone. He paused at that thought, no he couldn't do that. He needed to do this on his own, Ronan hurt him the most by abandoning the team, Elias and Colin barely knew the wolf before it all started and thus with that Dustin decided it to be his own mission.

Dustin stopped and looked around, could he do this on his own? Would his powers be strong enough, would he was the ability to do what he needed and would he be able to kill the wolf. Looking down at his hands, Dustin wondered if he had killing hands. If he could take the life of someone that he did love, if he could do that was he better or worse than Ronan, and like that Dustin paused for a moment, he didn't know what to think of that.

Pausing for a second, the shark contemplated what he would have to do in order to kill the wolf. He would have to somehow sneak up on the wolf and his gang, and then slowly and carefully have an icicle with him and then trust it through the back of the wolf. Dustin paused he wasn't ready to do that. He couldn't kill Ronan in cold blood like that. While Ronan did horrible things to Colin's family, Dustin did not believe that revenge was right in this situation and thus he paused.

Looking down at his phone suddenly he was being called by someone. It was Outsiders Head Command; pausing for a second the shark realized what was happening, he was being called by Outsiders Head Command! Quickly he swiped the green button, he couldn't deny a call from then and plus they might just have forced him to take the call anyway.

"Ah Hello, how can I help you?" Dustin asked, playing coy as he answered the phone and it quickly switched to a view of the President. Not the President of the United States, they weren't a large enough organization that they could afford being led directly by the president, but it was one of the Secretaries of the Army.

"Oh please don't be stupid, we know you helped and I like to congratulate you on that but there are more pressing matters to be discussed." The president said, in his chair it seemed that his body was perfectly aligned that he could just be seen as a shadow. Dustin always wondered who their president was, but it wasn't a question that was answered easily.

"Ah Sir President, how is the Army, Navy and or Airforce today, hiding in the shadows again?" Dustin asked as he smiled and looked at the phone. This couldn't have possibly been a good message; if the president was delivering it then something bad had to be attached to it, like a virus or a bug.

"Yes, yes, enough with the niceties; we have a problem. New York Outsiders will be shut down if you cannot change the course you're following." The President said as he held up a massive list of signatures. Dustin looked at it, it was only a few hundred people that wasn't enough to take action. "This is a list from congress on people who want your removal, senators and congressmen, which is far too many to ignore."

"Ok but you won't just do that, you're going to give me something to do in a set time period and if I manage then I can keep my job." Dustin said smiling as the president smiled from inside his shadow bubble. Maybe he was just too predictable but he was glad his people remembered him.

"Good job, find whoever is doing this and get the supervillain, three hours, one supervillain or if not your entire section will be removed; all precincts of the Outsiders in New York, all four of them." The Director said as he shut down the call. Dustin paused, this seemed like it would be a massive problem. This was a massive problem, he had multiple people's jobs on his back and he needed to hold them up, could he do that on his own?

Dustin breathed he needed to breath, keep breathing, he told himself. He just needed to find the man who was controlling the oil. That would be easy, follow the source and find whoever did this. He could do this. Dustin breathed he might just be saved yet. He just needed to do it all in three hours, one hundred and eighty minutes, he could do it.

Looking around walking out of the alley, he watched as he walked out of secret world of the Outsiders. Turning off his perception filter, he walked forward and looked around. A crowd was gathering around the once burning area of the New York, which seemed to be rapidly cooling off. People took careful steps as they walked forward, hoping to note touch a hot spot.

"Well look at this, the Outsider did something useful." Someone said as Dustin walked by, did people really think about them in that way. To Dustin it seemed they did their job fine, but did the people of the town they defended heroically think they were fools, frauds.

Dustin looked around, it looked like another protest might just break out and he didn't like the look of that. Did people really want him gone, thrown out like the trash he was and disposed of like nothing, Dustin wondered if the people of the city would do that to him after all he did.

Sure he might have disappeared one winter and left the city defenseless but in his defense, there were three other groups of Outsiders that were left. It wasn't like they couldn't have picked the slag up as well or were they too busy as well. It seemed that everyone depended on him being their but no one wanted him.

Then Outsider walked forward as he tried to understand what was happening but didn't pay much attention to it. Opening his phone, Dustin wondered. Clicking the internet button, he opened it and enjoyed the age of open internet and free mobile data. Looking around, he moved over the corner and started to spy on the internet.

Someone had to be buying the oil or shipping it in, refining it in the state was impossible as it would be too expensive to move it without doing anything to it, refining it would shrink it down, give it less mass. Moving that from the Gulf would be easy, so that is what a company would do.

"Someone had to buy all the oil and move it here, so I need some sort of document that proves it happened." Dustin said as he looked through the phone and suddenly he had one of those epiphanies. Looking on his phone he scrolled as he suddenly realized that he could search through documents.

Searching through a record of transfer papers given to the state, he suddenly he found a file. A filing for the transfer of multiple barrels of oil, in fact it seemed to be enough oil to fill the sewers and a few more. Disappearing into the crowd, he looked around; the filing was set to move the oil to the northern Hudson Valley.

He wondered if that would be even possible, he thought back to the werewolves and their castle. While they didn't do this they would have certainly seen anyone that did deliver goods to their area and a massive container of oil isn't something you miss often.

And with that he walked backwards, looking around he wondered where his car was. He had three hours to figure out where the Neuroseekers had gone, debate with the Werewolves and find who ever had moved the oil, follow the oil and see where it goes.

...

Dustin stood in front of the werewolves' castle, nervously knocking on the door and waiting to be mauled to death or be given the information. Rain poured down around his body, thunder seemingly barking ominously in the background. Dustin looked around as seemingly inside the werewolves shuffled inside the castle, apparently never receiving visitors before. Looking around Dustin waited for them and just looked around the nice River Valley, thunder stuck again.

"God does this place have a weather problem?" Dustin said as he looked at his watch, he already wasted too much time, twenty minutes and depending on whether or not he got his information he either wasted an hour or used it wisely, he paced around the door as inside the werewolves decided to clean up.

"Ok come on, I'm only an Outsider I don't care about what is happening just open the door for me and tell me the information I need!" Dustin said as he yelled into the door and knocked the large wooden door. Dustin waited for a second and then the door opened, all of the werewolves activing nervously.

Dustin looked around as he wasn't instantly mauled and instead looked around; it seemed that the stains around the castle were new and seemingly expended with in the previous five minutes. The shark hoped he hadn't interrupted anything important, the shark looked around and seemingly acted ignorant about what they all knew what had happened.

"Well then look at that, I hope they all have free will or else it appears that is the strangest version of playing with yourself." Dustin said as he walked forward and looked around. The werewolves all looked incredibly modest and all backed up as Dustin walked in, he realized he was holding the phone and he had the signaler.

"Oh well look at that, tables have turned but don't worry I'm only looking for some information, mainly the location of a massive shipment of oil, maybe near the sewer entrances?" Dustin said as he walked in putting his phone in his pocket but never letting it go, you could never be too careful around werewolves. He paused and looked around at the werewolves, they seemed to be looking around at each other

"Do hurry up, come on Moonraker you can control them, I do need this information quickly!" Dustin said nearly yelling as he grabbed his phone and threatened to use it as some sort of attack device. The werewolves bowed to him and Dustin smiled a bit, he didn't like having to abuse his power like that but that's just how it works sometimes.

"Fine then, in the tunnels to New York, there is some sort of new connection near the city, somewhere in northern Manhattan it seems to be human sized but it is filled with oil." Moonraker said as he stood up and talked to the Outsider. "Please don't hurt us, all of us transformed willing and we were only looking for cover from the rain when we traveled inside the tunnel."

"It's fine don't transform anyone unwilling and don't attack the city and we will do fine werewolves, don't stain the city and keep it in your pants when your outside, don't scare the folks." Dustin said as he turned around and started to walk out of the castle. The werewolves howled and thunder struck, Dustin walked out of the castle and looked around.

"Wait Outsider don't go!" Moonraker suddenly called out as he extended his arm and left the castle. Dustin turned and looked at the werewolf as suddenly, he walked out of the protection of his granite walls. The long fur blew in the wind as he walked out into the open weather and the werewolf looked uncomfortable. Dustin turned around and looked at the leader of the werewolves, pondering on why he called out.

"What I need to get back to New York quickly." Dustin said in a very snappy way, he sounded like an ass. But today it seemed sounding like an ass was going to be what saved him. The shark looked back at the werewolf and wondered what Moonraker wanted.

"I can feel Ronan, he is in New York but I don't know I can't tell. What I can tell you is that he has jumped off the deep end and he will continue to jump off until you do something about it." Moonraker said.

"What and are you saying I should kill Ronan, I know that I just can't bring myself to do it. I'd sink down to his level; I'd be no better than he is." Dustin explaining hiding his head down in shame, the werewolf laughed and nearly for a second the whole castle of werewolves did as well.

"Well that is how it goes; sometimes people just need to die." Moonraker said, Dustin looking into his blue eyes and knowing on some level everything would come down to him and Ronan. Dustin hid his head in shame, knowing that slowly but surely that moment would be approaching him.

"Well I've be off and fix your perception filter, the folks don't like the thunder, just add a layer of fog and you guys will be fine. Just remember your rules and maybe I'll come by a little later." Dustin said snapping at them and like that he disappeared. The Outsider drove down the valley and back into New York as he drove, up to northern Manhattan, he remembered where the main sewer pipe was and stood silent the whole way.

Dustin just didn't feel like talking to himself, this was his fight and he wasn't going to do anything but focus on the enemy. What was Ronan's plan and who was he using? Everything felt horrible and here didn't know what Ronan wanted to do, that was why he had to do everything.

...

"So how's been your week?" Riptide said as he stood around peering into the windows and making sure nobody was going into the building. He tried to figure out the best way to get into the window, holding his thumb up and trying to figure the distance.

"Oh, pretty good. I have a new crush, not that you could even tell anyone who that is. You don't even know who I am, much less where I work, go to school, but he's nice, I just don't know how to tell him." Nightshifter said, the two didn't know much about each other, the heads of the organization would have preferred it that way. Less you know about someone, the less damage you could do to their life if you defect.

...

Dustin reflected on all the words, looking for answers. Looking for some kind of clue; something that Dustin could reflect on. Just something that he could find; giving him answers on why Ronan deflected. He just needed something; he wished for something, he wished for answers. He wanted answers and he just wanted a clue.

...

"Would a true shark have done that, a true shark would have fought; I'm just a beta." Riptide said as he somehow managed to sink further into the ground and looked more grump. Nightshifter took a breath and looked away from Riptide and pushed his hair back, taking a breath too organize his thoughts.

"There is no such thing as a real shark, a real shark is something idiotic that someone made up and who ever that is I don't want you to listen to that person; they are the bigger idiot and you should be yourself, now do what you think is right." Nightshifter said as he bent down on one knee and patted Riptide's back, helping the shark stand up and calmly collect.

...

Ronan was just so nice, but now he was mean. He just wanted to help at first and maybe Ronan was a bully but now he seemed to be some sort of psychopath. No wonder he didn't seem so bad now, but in comparison to before Ronan was just a dick now. And thus as he descended into the sewer it seemed that he was lonelier than before and everything was a fight to survive, wasn't life supposed to get easier?

...

"I agree and maybe I bullied you because I didn't think you were confident, or that my feelings were confused and I was stressed but now I want to show my true feelings." Ronan said as he stopped Dustin in his tracks and held onto him, grabbing Dustin he pulled the shark in and they started to kiss.

Dustin took a breath of relief as he felt Ronan's lips finally touch his, after years of crushing on Nightshifter his dream was coming true. He started to kiss, back putting his arms around Ronan and feeling the warm embrace of the wolf that he waited for.

"I'd like to say after four years of putting you through hell I am sorry." Ronan said formally apologizing. Dustin said nothing but instead pulled himself closer again and started to kiss the wolf. He ruffled his hands through Ronan's hair and felt his ears twitch, he felt so happy and everything seemed right.

"Message received; now then let's get to the center before Bright starts to eat Colin." Ronan said smiling as they walked forward. They started to hold hands and Dustin put his head against Ronan's shoulder, above them the sun was starting to set. A snowflake touches his shoulder and he shivered a bit.

He leaned up against Ronan and felt the warmth the wolf was giving him. He snuggled in as they crossed another road and entered the busy New York crowd of the night. Even in the surrounded heat of the entire crosswalk, he could tell fell Ronan's and to him everything felt perfect.

...

"Where did everything go wrong?" Dustin asked himself as he looked through the sewer and the then found as he walked through the empty tunnels, same as always nothing new, expect for the new hole. Looking through it seemed to have some sort of seal on it, a lock on it. Dustin looked on and grabbed the latch, turning it, and with a creak from the shiny metal it opened.

Dustin looked inside and shined his light inside; it was oily and black and seemed to extend for a while. Dustin knew this was where the oil was coming from and the shark took a breath as he climbed up and crawled in, it looked like he had some room between the top and the bottom; and the oil would have helped him through.

"Wait I don't have to do this." And that was when Dustin had an even better idea than his last. Pulling his legs out of the tunnel, the Outsider grabbed some water and raised it. Putting it in the tunnel, he froze it and pushed it forward, the water letting it slip and slid around with no worry in the world. That would work for him and hopefully it would lead him to the end of the oil.

And thus Dustin followed the ice as he pulled it through the ground, his hand held out as he drove slowly making sure that the ice was still being pulled. And then as he drove through the city, avoiding people filled roads, the shark noticed that he was following one road and one direction.

Coming to the edge of New York was easy, and looking out form 134th Street and out into the East River, the shark could feel the oil pushing back against his ice cube. And while it might not have had as good a rap career, the ice cube did well for him. Riker's Island, while it might have sounded like it was some sort of plot twist in a late twentieth century show, here it had to be the location of the location.

"Well then Ronan, looks like this is it. I'm coming for you and this is where it ends, it all ends today." Dustin said a he just imagined turning in both Ronan and his oil controlling compatriot, he would be the hero of New York, people would appreciate him he would get the recognition he deserved. And thus backing up on the dock as bells and the rising tide flooded his ear canals, the shark started to run forward at full speed.

Jumping off the land and into the currents of the East River, the shark grabbed ahold of the water and swam forward, letting go of his ice cube and deciding to make the swim to Riker's. Swimming forward and manipulating temporary currents to suit his advantage, the shark wished he could have enough time to make it under the cover of dark but it seemed this would be the best he could do.

Swimming under water into the cleared and clean water, Dustin started to breath but not from his mouth, he felt his gills open. A layer of crud that formed between then, was wiped away quickly by the water and allowed him to defuse oxygen from the water. His neck started to breathe again as he decided to make the trip under the cover of water, the next best thing.

Swimming under the water, normally one would be worried of the trash and debris that might be in the East River but once the government mandated that you don't throw crap into the river, nature generally does a pretty good job on its own of cleaning shit up. Passing the half way point, Dustin grabbed ahold of his own body and pushed himself forward through the water.

He could see the island rising up from the empty river bed and rising past the water level, the island in the sky to a fish, or possibly death. Looking forward, Dustin surfaced as he approached the island. Climbing up to the surface, he looked out with his eyes and didn't see any guards on the edge of the building.

Deciding it was safe, Dustin swam forward and landed on the beach, in his own kind of personal D-day, Dustin ran onto the beach, under the cover of the soft midday shadows cast on him. The shark ran up the tiny incline, and pushed himself against the wall. He hopefully disappeared on the wall and would have free reign through the island.

Walking around he looked for entrance, he needed something of course that would be subtle and something that wouldn't get him caught. Looking around a ladder to the top of the building, he slowly made his way towards the ladder, intending to climb it and fight against Ronan. Dustin grabbed the ladder and pulled himself up as he looked around.

Scaling up the side of the building, he reached the top and just ducked the top of his head over the edge. Looking to his left, he saw the path abruptly angled to a way where it could be described as turning right. To his right, the path led into a guard tower, probably one of the tallest points on the institute. Dustin saw no guards, which meant he was expected or no one at all was expected.

Either way the shark he might as well not show Ronan up and climbed up onto the stone platform. Looking around as he did, the shark looked around examining the area for some clue on what was happening where he was. Walking forward onto the stone pathway, he looked around and looked at the view of the area.

Standing at the top of the world it seemed, New York in the background and everything seemingly so peaceful and so serine. Dustin took a breath enjoying the peace of the time. He looked at his watch, he had about two hours left and when he walked forward he would confirm it he'd make his deadline or not. He wasn't going to let the Outsiders be shut down, he had too much put into the organization for it be.

Walking forward and looking over the overreach, Dustin looked into the prison yard and saw what he was looking for. People in Neuroseeker armor, walking around they seemed to not be worried at all. And in the middle was Ronan, just standing and leading the people around. Dustin wondered why they weren't guarding, did they expect their base to be so easy to avoid?

Looking down at the yard, Dustin saw people not in armor and looking at them he wondered what they were doing. They were multiple races in different outfits and seemingly no coincidence between them. As he looked down on one, suddenly he saw one of the "civilians" open his mouth and show off his enhanced canines.

"Werewolves, why does it always have to be werewolves?" Dustin asked as he looked down and saw a second layer of stone platforms, if he could sneak down, looking over the edge, there was just the place to hide in between the wall and a building.

Dustin made his go, looking over he jumped and landed on the second platform with just a bit of rumble. Dustin smiled seeing how far he got without being detected and the shark paused for just a moment, this couldn't be right, it should have been that easy, how could he get through everything without being detected and how was it just that easy? Dustin breathed for a second; he didn't need to get himself into tizzy over such an insignificant part. Breathing Dustin walked forward, keeping himself calm as he walked forward and walked on the stone platform. Standing on the edge, the shark jumped down and landed on the grass of the prison yard.

And then like that as Dustin looked around, he suddenly found himself engulfed by a ray of fire. Ronan looked over, smiling and waving as suddenly a stream of oil appeared. And then like that so close to accomplishing his goal, Dustin was knocked to the ground and was knocked out. A shadow walked through the fire, and then dispersed it, grabbing the Outsider's feet and pulling him.

...

Dustin woke up, he was so close to Ronan and he suddenly realized that he was in a dark room, which wasn't Riker's prison. So someone had moved him, which was quite the problem. So instead of getting anger, Dustin looked around as he tried to understand what was happening. He was in a chair, a metal chair and suddenly the shark shivered was he going to electrocuted?

"Let me out of here, or I swear I will kill you all!" Dustin screamed throughout the building, he hoped he was loud enough to make an impact. He tried to slam his fist, but found that he was unable to do so. His fingers and arms were locked almost in a gauntlet attached to the chair, he couldn't waggle his fingers and he couldn't control water.

Dustin slowly breathed, he didn't know what he was going to do, he was quite trapped for the moment and he didn't know what was going to happen. Keeping still for a second, Dustin waited as he knew that someone was going to come for him, no or was someone going trap him, did they know about the time limit?

"No that'd be crazy it was only a personal phone call between me and the director, how the hell would someone know about that?" Dustin told himself trying to calm himself as he breathed and looked around the dark room. Looking forward, he saw a metallic door open by sliding back into the wall. Suddenly just a bit of a yellow flicking light appeared and Dustin wondered who would make a grand appearance.

Walking forward Dustin looked around as he tried to comprehend where he was and then a lion walked into the room. Semi dressed in Neuroseeker gear and letting his head and quite fabulous mane stay out, the lion smiled as he walked in and instantly as Dustin looked into the eyes of the man, he knew that it was man who controlled the oil.

"Well then look it here, I am Major Inferno." The Major said presenting himself and then looked down at the shark trapped within the confines of the chair. The Major walked over and bent down grabbing a key and seemingly jiggling it in his hand as he seemingly attempted to unlock Dustin's cuffs. "No reason for you to be trapped, I figure there isn't enough water for you to do anything."

Dustin stood silent in defiance as he found his hand freed and wiggled his fingers around in the air. He felt around for water, looking for it as he tried to scan for it, water needed to be somewhere there was always water, water was important to life and he needed to find some. And then he got an answer.

"Now then let's burn." The Major yelled as he suddenly put his hand forward, in the corner of a room a barrel of oil opened and flew at Dustin. With a match in his hand the Major seemed ready to soak the Outsider and make his last moments with in the bunker, before being reduced to ash. And then suddenly Dustin extended his hand.

Like that the oil froze in midair and Dustin smiled as he paused. Dustin suddenly waggled his fingers around and grabbed a bit of the oil in the air and then slashed it into the other gauntlet. With both of his hands free, Dustin stood up in the air and pushed the oil back.

As the pressure between the two built up, suddenly it sprayed back onto the Major and he fell on the ground, the match rubbing on the side of the barrel and igniting. Dustin looked back, it looked like the oil wasn't as pure as the Major might have thought, enough water inside probably from the Hudson giving Dustin control of the oil.

"Yeah, I'm not going to do anything about that one. I hope you are lucky as you seem however." Dustin said as he walked through the door and then suddenly walked out of the room. At a stairwell, he walked up and opened the bunker door, as it was pushed up, he realized that he must have been captured into some sort of doomsday bunker. Standing up Dustin looked around and he was in some sort of forest.

Dustin started to run; he felt that count might be south so he ran in that direction, through the trees. And then suddenly the trees opened and Dustin found himself standing in front of New York, he was on a cliff and overlooking the city. The shark looked over and saw the city part of it burnt down and part of it still standing, it would take more than that to kill New York.

And then he looked down at his phone, worse part, time had passed, two hours past due. And then second worse part, first notification. As he looked at the news notification, the color drained out of the shark's face. The message read Dustin's doom, the shark was speechless, "Criminal Investigation opened into Outsiders, all members considered criminals."

And then like that the helicopters appeared. Dustin watched hopelessly as suddenly all his senses stopped. Before could run to the cliff, he was surrounded by armored agents. Dustin put his hands up as the color drained from his face and the shark was empty inside, all he was ended now and as he was handcuffed, the metal placed around his wrist the shark knew one thing, he was fucked.
