The Mutation.
The room was quiet as Domanic laid in his cage. The wolf scratched behind his ear with his hind leg and stared out into the darkness. Other's like him laid in cages scattered around the room, most sleeping, some too heavily medicated to move.He was like them, a prisoner in man's sick need to experiment. Domanic can't remember how long he's been in the this prison, an experimental lab in the desert that makes "miracle drugs". He snorted at the last though, they where miracles alright but not from anywhere holy.
Domanic had been a test subject on a new drug that rebuilds lost tissue, having lost his leg when he was attacked by a bear back in the woods. He was found by a human and brought to this lab. After being tested on, going through weeks of painfull injections, pills, and scrutiny from the humans in the white coats, Domanic grew back his leg but wasn't set free. No, not after such an amazing thing like re-growing your leg. Domanic was locked in a cage, and did other experimates, some even he didn't want to remember.
Domanic's ears perked up, someone was getting close to the open door, opposite of him. He listened and saw a large crate, followed by two armed humans walk by the door. The crate made a strange growl, not like he has ever heard before. The growl sparked abit of fear in Dom's stomach, making him back into the corner of his cage. As the humans passed, Dom could hear the humans talking.
"So, what is this thing?" one of them asked, his voice steadily fading.
"Don't know, they said someone found it out in the desert, damn thing killed one of the recovery team members before they could tranq it." replied the other,
"Woah! what happend?" the rest of the conversation was too faded for Dom to hear it, and maybe it was best, he didn't like what they were saying.
It didn't matter anyways, Dom was too tired to care and he laid down, quickly going to sleep.
At first there was darkness then came the dreams, Dom back in the forest with his family. Dom had been the proud father of two cubs and his beutifull wife Trisha. Dom wasn't much of a pack dog and liked to consider himself a lone wolf. One day one of his cubs had gotten too close a bear cub and the cub's mother had freaked, Dom jumped in to save him and had done it too but was badly wounded and couldn't move.
His cub had run home to get mom but the human came before his wife and scooped him up, taking him to this hell. The very though of it brought anger into Dom's mind, he knew that to attack anyone in this facility meant death but if he could just get out of this cage, he think it'd be worth it.
The dreams gave way to darkness again as he slept. It wasn't long before a blaring alarm awoke Dom from his slumber. A twirling light on the wall bathed the room in orange light as humans rushed by the door, not even bothering to look in to make sure there "Property" hadn't escaped. The room was silent again, some of the other animals stirred in there sleep but didn't bother to rise.
Finally there was a banging on the ceiling, Dom looked up seeing one of the grates on the ceiling had fallen down, there was a split second of silence then a snake-like creature slithered down from the open hatch. The thing had no eyes, a gaping mouth and was covered in green blood. A few seconds later, Dom realised that the blood was comming from a slit on the creatures side.
Seeing this Dom felt sympathy for the creature, the humans had cut it open while it was still alive. he's seen many other animals, dogs, cats, chimps and others tested on then cut up, like cattle. The creature scanned the room finally looking at Dom and he felt a strange click in his mind followed by speech.
"I am Riz, I come from.." Riz's body shivered in pain as he tried to continue, "I come from a place far from here." Though Dom found it impossible, since Riz's mouth never moved, he was talking telepathicly with the alien.
"Yes, I'm sorry for what has happened to you." Dom thought, looking over Riz's cut up body. There was a slight pain in his mind then Riz's voice. "I have scanned these other beings and found that your desire is similar to mine, I've crashed landed here and have been kept prisoner now I want revenge."
Dom perked up, "Yes. Revenge, I need to see my family again." he thought.
"I do not have the strenght to escape this place but I will give you a gift that will bring terror into the beings of this world and help you." with that Riz slithered closer to Dom's cage and when he was face to face with Dom a tongue shot out of his out, going though the bars and through Dom's skull, into his brain.
Dom felt very little pain, the feeling of something being injected into his head was working over the pain. They stayed connected for a few minutes then Dom fell unconsciouse. Moments later Dom awoke, the shattered bone and flesh of his skull already re-healed. Dom's flesh felt like it was on fire, he glanced over to where Riz was and found a dead carcass, Riz was dead.
A howl escaped Dom's throat as his muscles expanded, breaking the skin and then re-healing. New muscles formed in his hind legs and he could now stand on them. His muslces rippled as Dom's whole body grew in size, his paws elongated into claws, tiped with sharp talons. Dom's howl of pain turned into strange laughter, veins that had once been in the roof of his maul now hung out of his muzzle, open, there soul reason to suck up the blood of the slain.
With a quck burst of speed, Dom broke through the cage's door, still changing, some of his fur fell off as he reached 6ft6. His claws burned as 9in blades, made of bone, shot out of the palms of his claws and then retracted at will.Dom's once lovely blue eyes became solid black and the orange-lit room became as bright as day. Finally the changes stopped, the new Dom stepped out of the room and down a hallway.
Dom took a left, walking right into one of the humans in the white coats, he instantly recognized him as the man that scooped him up after the bear attacked him. The human was too busy looking at a paper and walked right into Dom. He gave a surpised yip, to Dom's amusment it almost sounded like a puppy whine. With a swift motion Dom picked him up by the head, willing one of the blades to come out of his palm. It went through his face like a hot knife through butter.
The man spasmed then died, but that didn't satisfy Dom, he needed to feed. Grabbing the human by the throat Dom lifted up, ripping off the top of the human's head, from the top lip up.
Biting into the meat and letting the veins soak up the blood, Dom felt rejuvinated, he only stopped feeding because of a sharp pain in his back and a loud BANG! Dom dropped the man and turned to face the shooter, a claw scrapping across the wall and leaving deep claw marks in the metal.
A security guard stood in the shooter's stance with his gun pointed at Dom's face. But before he could fire, Dom slashed at him, his claws going through the gun and most of the guard's hands. The Human screamed and it was music to Dom's ears. Dom punched the guard in the chest and felt his claws go all the way into the guard. A light throbbing around Dom's paws signeld to Dom that he had a hold of the guards heart, gripping it, Dom pulled, tearing out the guards heart as it still beated once... twice.. stopped.
The guard fell to the floor as more people came, alarmed by the guards screams. Extending both blades Dom rushed at them, slaughtering them, leaving only one human alive. Dom recognized him as the one that has been carving up his cell mates and wanted to have some fun with him.
Grabbing the human by the throat dom lifted him into the air and proceeded to slice him up, letting his organs spill out onto the ground. The human shivered in pain and gave off the delicious smell of fear, this brought Dom in as he bit into the head of the human draining it of blood and eating some of his brains. When that was finished Dom walked towards a door, killing a receptionist that was hiding under the table, Dom headed outside.
The hot air felt good to him and as he looked on at the light off in the distance that Dom knew was the city, two things came to Dom, one, there was no way he was going to go back to the woods and two, that Human-kind was going to pay for every shot, every pill, and every stitch that he has suffered.
