A Poet's Purpose - short poem
This poem describes the reason why I write in addition to just enjoying my writing. I became inspired by my own feeling about being a poet. It's very easy for me to get down about it and wish that I was a different kind of writer or to wish that I was an artist instead. Then I will turn around and embrace what I write. My more emotive poems are the result of me finding pride in what I do. :D This was written on 9/25/2016.

A poet's thoughts,
Like the words they write,
Live, breathe, and flow in their heart and brain.
It's the job of the poet to paint,
This picture on your heart.
To love, to hurt, to feel for you.
Situations you'd never imagine.
The hate, the sights, the sounds
That you lack and shan't experience.
A new point of view, mind bending words.
The heart's rawest emotion.
A poet must translate each moment,
From the purest of thoughts and feelings,
Into tangible words.
Vocabulary is a poet's expression.
Emotion is the poet's palette.
With these a poet creates the words you read.
