#1 of Operation: Liberation

The Russians have invaded the United States on 20170205 (2017 February 5) and surprisingly have taken over the states. Endrico Warwing and his unit, the U.S. 2nd Air Assault Division (Med), was in Australia at the time. He deploys with his unit as well as other armies in a major offensive to liberate America and reach Washington D.C. It is a race to the White House to save the president and America's government from the invading armies of the Russian military.

Anti-Aircraft fire engulfed the night sky as I descended from a flying airplane in the air, my parachute opening up to slow my descent. A lot of thoughts were racing through my mind as I slowly descended down to an open, grassy clearing, the sounds of firefights and AA fire attacking my ears.

I landed safely onto the soft ground and rolled, popping back up onto a knee with my parachute off and my sidearm in my paws, scanning around for any immediate threats. After making sure I was safe, I retrieved my Steyr AUG from my pack and adjusted the collar on my multicam combat shirt, brushing the dirt off my combat pants and making sure my MBAV combat vest was on securely. After checking myself, I grabbed my weapon and dashed to the nearest treeline, keeping my head down as the sounds of distant fighting and overhead planes can be heard.

I took cover by a tree and sat down, turning on the greenish colored flashlight that was attached to the side my ECH combat helmet and pulling a map out of my multicam combat pants, looking over the map of Newnan as well as the GPS locator on my left wrist.

_ Damn navigator._ My unit and the British paratroopers was supposed to link up to the west of Newnan and liberate the city from a small detachment of Russian troops, but somehow I was dropped to the east of the city.

The Russians invaded the United States a little over a few months ago, taking over most of the United States except for a few parts. Washington D.C. was still under U.S. control. At the time of the invasion, I was with my unit, the 2nd Air Assault (Med), in Australia, doing joint exercises with the Aussie paratroopers.

On the fifth of February, 2017, we got a transmission that the Russians have launched a surprise attack on the U.S. The rest of my unit and I were, at the time, familiarising ourselves with the Australian army equipment. It was about night-time when we got the call of the invasion. In the hours that followed, taken land turned into cities, cities turned into states, and states turned into regions. By the time the Australian military and my unit were fully mobilised, we got a message from a faint signal that the Russians have complete control over the United States and was now attacking the White House in Washington D.C. They've attacked us when most of our military was out on operations against the Chinese, who attacked India and was now bent on domination of the Asian continent.

At the same time of the invasion to the United States, our allies Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and countless other allied countries in the United Anthro Treaty Organisation (UATO) declared war on the Russians and Chinese, while China and Russia did the same. World War III started in one day. With whatever troops our allies could spare, along with my unit, the Australian military, and any available American units, all formed multiple coalitions to prepare an attack on the Russian-occupied United States.

The Australian military and my unit flew over to Puerto Rico, where remnants of the American military and Puerto Rican National Guard were waiting for us. After months of planning, we started the Florida Campaign. We needed to liberate Florida to establish a foothold in the southern region in the U.S., and to use the state as a staging point for the Georgia Campaign.

It wasn't easy though, and we sustained heavy casualties. After that, the German, British, and our marines stationed in Italy started an amphibious assault on the Carolinas, while the French and Italians sent troops to reinforce the defenses of Washington D.C.

After receiving reinforcements from Britain, we launched the Georgia campaign. Our combined forces of my unit, Puerto Rican NG, the Australian 1st Engineer Regiment, and the British 1st Jump Regiment were designated Group Yellow.

The stuff I've seen in Florida was pretty disgusting, but I knew it was going to be rougher in Georgia, my home state.

I folded my map neatly and shoved it back into the cargo pocket of my pants, having a location in mind that I wanted to go to link up with my unit. I was going to link up with my unit near downtown Newnan, where my unit was most likely engaging the Russians. I didn't have a radio to signal any friendly forces in the area, for there weren't enough for all the troops to have.

Gathering my gear and turning the flashlight on my helmet off, I headed towards a nearby road with my assault rifle in my paws. I planned to use the road as a straight shot into Newnan, and my GPS calculated that I should be there in about two hours. I looked at my watch on the same wrist, which read 23:37 in digital numbers. I yawned and continued walking, scanning around to make sure no one was following me.

"Freeze right there," a British accent from one of the trees hissed.

Instead of obeying the random voice, I sprinted and took cover behind a nearby, small boulder near the road, my Steyr AUG trained on the pine tree.

"Come down, now!" I growled lowly, switching the safety off my rifle.

Jumping down from the tree was a silhouette of a canine anthro, who had on combat gear and was pointing his weapon at me. "I see the meadow," the British male said in a low tone.

That was the code!

"And it's full of prairie dogs," I answered, lowering my weapon. The figure stepped out of the shadow of the tree.

The figure was a young male husky, who appeared to be no older than twenty years old. He wore a DPM camouflaged combat uniform, as well as a larger backpack on his back and an L85A2 assault rifle in his paws, which was lowered to the ground. Compared to my five-foot-six height, he was at least a few inches taller than me.

"I'm Corporal Rapier Stormpaw," the male anthro husky introduced, the moonlight reflecting of his white furred face, "1st Jump Regiment of the United Kingdom."

The sounds of AA fire and airplanes could still be heard, but they were beginning to dull out.

"I'm Endrico Warwing of the 2nd Air Assault Medical Detachment, United States," I introduced myself, "I was heading towards downtown Newnan to meet up with the assaulting forces there."

Rapier nodded his head and we started walking alongside the road, "we both were told to jump too early," he began, adjusting the backpack on his back, "but that was the navigators fault. I guess no one else followed behind me."

I scanned the road ahead of us as silence came between us.

Up ahead, there were about two to three cars that were burning fireballs, the smell of burning gasoline and flesh attacking my nostrils. That scene alone showed me that this campaign was going to be even more bloodier for my paws. The horrors of war were soon to follow again, along with more dead and wounded that I and fellow medics would have to deal with.
