#12 of Tinas Story

Ray and Tina have left work a little early to go to the OB/GYN. Ray waits, while Tina is being examined. Tina has never liked doctor visits, but with her pregnancy, she is almost coming to terms with it....Tina is in the stirrups, receiving her exam.....

"OK, let's see how we're doing.....Alright, relax now....that's good. Growing nicely. I'm thinking you're 5 1/2 months along. "

The doctor goes through the rest of the routine that Tina has come to know so well. She stares at the ceiling, until...

"Let's get another ultrasound, and we'll be good for this visit. "

The nurse performs the ultrasound, and Tina gets dressed.after which Ray and Tina were shown to the office....

"Mr Goldstein, Ms. Russel..." the doctor addressed them

"Mr and Mrs Goldstein..." Tina corrected.

"Congratulations! When were you married?" the doctor inquired

"A few weeks ago, in Nassau" Ray answered

"Nassau is so nice this time of year. Tina, you're coming along well. Take a look at the babies. See how much bigger they are? That's consistant with 5 1/2 months. You can start to see the features become clear....We definitely have two babies, hybrids, a boy and a girl."

Tina and Ray study the picture, fascinated by the image of their two developing babies. Little fingers, little toes, little tails....Tina was relieved to hear that all was going well. Ray was, too. They got in Ray's Golf to drive back to the apartment....

"What you want for dinner, Hon?" Ray inquired

"Lew Steonard's!" Tina exclaimed, excitedly.

Lew Steonard's was a supermarket chain. According to the Guiness book of world records, it was the largest dairy store in the world. Lew's was the Disneyland of grocery stores. There were singing farm animals, a petting zoo, food samples, and the hundred foot buffet. A child at heart, Tina LOVED Lew's. Every time they went, they had to go to the zoo, walk the entire store, see every food sample station, and finish their trip at the 100 foot buffet.....

"Ooooooooooo. What do I want tonight?" Tina wondered aloud.

She looked up and down the buffet. There was Indian, Italian, and American favorites. There were fourteen salads, and ten soups. Tina resolved her problem by taking a spoon or two of everything on the buffet.

"What IS that?" Ray wondered, looking at his wife's plate.

"A lot of different things...there's dim sum, moogoo gai pan, turkey and stuffing, eggplant rollatini...."

"I'll take your word..." Ray rolled his eyes

They got back in the Golf, and made their way through the bumper to bumper traffic, and cold rain to the safety of Tina's apartment. Tina went to set the table for dinner, while Ray checked for phone messages. There was one....

"Mr Goldstein, it's your salesperson from the real estate office. I talked to the attorney from the estate. He said that the heirs would entertain an offer. He said that the estate would be looking for 375,000$" she paused. "I know you said that you had a firm budget....."

Ray thought for a moment.....

"Get the best price, but don't lose it."

"You'll pay the price?" She asked again

"If I have to. Don't lost that house. Can we get a viewing?"

"I can arrange it. I let you know."

Ray returned to the kitchen.

"Who was that?" Tina inquired

"Message from the Realtor"

"And......."

"We're talking"

"Talking? What does that mean?" she asked, excitedly

"Well, they're willing to entertain an offer..."

"REALLY? REALLY? REALLY?" Tina was hyperventilating....

"Call down, Sugar....:". Ray took Tina in his arms

"I'm trying to set up a viewing. you really ought to see it before you decide..." Ray counseled

"I want it. I want it more than anything in the world. I don't care if Jimmy Hoffa is buried in the back bedroom. I want it. " Tina had spoken. It was clear to Ray that the subject was officially closed.

"Hey, don't we have dinner waiting?" Ray said, changing the subject

They sat down at the table that Tina had set. There were candles and flowers, but Tina ate straight from the container, as though she hadn't eaten in weeks.....

"Looks like you're enjoying....what?"

"General Tso's chicken....shrimp curry....a little alfredo......." she said, not missing a bite.

Ray laughed, and went back to his turkey and stuffing, and watching Tina eat. After about a half hour, she had hit bottom....

'URP' Tina sat back in her chair.

"I'm full"

"Full? I thought you were a bottomless pit"

"I was hungry." Tina said, defensively

Ray smiled kindly

"You eat as much as you want. I'll clean up. Watcha wanna do?"

"hmmmm. The Game of Life!"

Tina LOVED board games. And the Game of Life was her favorite. She had played it as a child, and loved it to this day. In TGOL, you get a car and a peg. You travel the game board, have children, chose a career, and encounter various things. Tina set up the board, and Ray sat down to play, once he had cleaned up the kitchen....Tina took the first spin...

"Six....I'm a doctor!" she yipped with excitement"

"This is going to be a looooong game" thought Ray.

In the end, Tina made it to millionaire acres, while Ray went to the poor farm.

"Congratulations, Hon, you got me again...."

Tina gave a big stretch.....

"I'm.....'YAWN'.....tired.....bed time....." she said in her little Poodle girl voice.

"Ride to bed?" Ray offered

"Yeah! Ride to bed!"

Ray bent over, and Tina jumped on his back. Ray straightened up, and Tina rode him back to the bedroom. Ray delivered her safely to the bedroom. Ray undressed, and pulled on some sweat shorts. Tina got out of her work clothes, and put on a fresh pair of tiny white panties, and Ray's nightshirt. The nightshirt, of course, did not have a tail hole, so, while she stood, the nightshirt kind of draped on both sides, leaving her cute little bottom exposed. They got in bed, face to face. Tina embraced her beloved Ray, and buried her face in his now smooth chest. Soon, they drifted off to sleep.

Ray was wakened in the night, Realising he was alone, he got up to look for Tina. He soon found her in the hammock on the porch, shivering, even though she was wrapped tightly in the fur throw...

"Hey, watcha doin?" Ray asked softly

"Heartburn. Woke me up. Couldn't get back to sleep." Tina said, mournfully

Heartburn was one of those things that befell Tina during the pregnancy. She dealt with it on and off for the last two months, more on than off. Of course, Tina's diet didn't help.

Ray picked her up, blanket and all.

"If you're up, we'll be up together" Ray said, looking deeply into Tina's dark eyes.

Once they got to the bedroom, Tina spoke....

"Ray, am I still pretty?"

Tina was laying on the bed. She had pulled the nightshirt up, exposing her breasts and below. She stroked her stomach, not really aware of what she was doing.

Ray looked at his wife, a mix of love and joy on his big face.

"You are sooooo beautiful. You've always been pretty, but now...There is such peace, such wonderful joy. When I see your body filling out, knowing that our baby is growing inside you....my heart could just burst with joy!

Tina looked at Ray. While she knew how much Ray loved her, she seldom heard him speak of it. Tina was so overwhelmed, she began to cry...

"Oh, sweetie...." (SNIFF) I've never heard anything so....so...beautiful....ever. I just want to hug you and hug you.....

And Tina did just that. There was more of course. Two people in love...can't sleep....Well, you can imagine.....

The next morning, Ray got a call at work. It was the Realtor.

"Mr Goldstein? It's Sue, from Coldwell 21. I've talked to the attorney for the estate. Bottom line? The heirs will sell at 365,0000."

"Whew. More than I wanted to spend....but....do it." Ray exhaled, a long slow release.

"Great! I can have the offer over for your signature today. Can you give me the 1% binder?"

"Yes. No problem"

"I'll be over in an hour...."

Ray picked up the phoneand called Tina.

"Hey, Hon. You OK?"

Tina gave a biiiig yawn...

"Yeah. A little tired. That's nothing new."

"Got some good news. Looks like the heirs have agreed to sell, and we reached a price...."

"AYEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!"

Tina screamed, and dropped the phone. Colleen and KC rushed in to find out what happened.

"Dear, whatever is the matter?" Colleen asked

KC picked up the dropped phone

"Hello? Hello? Tina?"

"Ray? It's KC, what is going on?"

"I just told Tina that it looks like we may have a deal on the house we looked at..."

"That's great. I'm happy for you"

"Uh, is she OK?" Ray got back to the issue at hand

"Oh, she's fine. Hyperventilating a little, but that's nothing new....

Ray put down the phone, wondering what Tina's response will be when she actually gets to see her dream home.

the Realtor came by with the papers at lunchtime. Both signed, and Ray wrote a check to accompany the offer. She also offered to take them to see the house right then. the Realtor had obtained a key earlier. It was a short drive from the DMV, which made it ideal. When Ray and Tina pulled up to the curb, Tina began to quiver and shake...

"Babe, what IS it about this house that has such an effect on you?"

Tina gave her best serious look.....

"When I was little, I loved to read. My family didn't have much money, so there wasn't much there to read. there. But the school had a library. Most of the books were old, from the forties and fifties, but I didn't care. A lot of them were from Great Britain. How I loved those stories! Just got completely lost in them. Well, the houses in those storiybooks all looked exactly like this one. It's *SNIFF* like a dream that came true...*SNIFF*

Indeed, the house DID look like something from an English storybook. It was a small todor cottage, with white stucco walls, and a frame of dark wood beams. The roof was made of slate, and the front entry, which protruded from the house was made of big stones. The door was wide and heavy, with a small wrought iron window in it, and a matching lantern by the door.

"Let's take a look" Sue said, opening the door.

The door opened into an entryway, which then opened into the living room. It was small, but cozy, with wide board floors, and dominated by a huge stone fireplace. There was a bay window, with a seat, and windows that cranked out. There was a small, sunny dining room, The kitchen was small, and had not been renovated in many years. There were no modern appliances, just a range and a refrigerator. The tour continued through the one small, and the two smaller bedrooms. There was a full stone basement, and a little carraige house made of stone, with swing out doors, and a driveway made of brick.

Once thet had toured the house, Ray turned to Tina.

"Well, Hon, it's a solid little house. But it is small; and not so modern. Are you sure?

"Ray" Tina said, as though talking to a very slow child "It's a DREAM!"

"There's no price on a dream" Ray agreed.

They gave Sue permission to submit their offer, then drove back to the office. On the trip, it was as if Tina had fallen in love again....

"I can't imagine that there could EVER be a place so.....perfect!"

And Ray agreed.
