#4 of Just Living

The morning after is sometimes a little rocky depending on your headspace.

Frey's eyes broke open slowly as he felt the warmth of sunlight through the window hit his cheek. As he woke up his head felt oddly clear, even though his body felt a bit stiff in certain places. He sat up slowly, feeling strangely well rested, and now that he was awake to think about it, he had actually slept last night rather than over thinking about every single thing! With a small smile the feline stretched far, extending one arm as far as he could before turning to notice the time on his alarm, remembering that he had actually set his alarm up even though it was the weekend. He had woken up ten minutes before his alarm, something that seemed so foreign as usually he was up about an hour or so before he needed to actually be awake. Frey chuckled and turned his head to look out the window when he noticed a lump lying next to him. Eyes wide he suddenly remembered why exactly he had gotten such a good rest. Lily's white fur and ears popped out from beneath the covers as she turn, a gentle sigh sounding off that sent shivers down his spine as he realized he himself and most likely the girl he had only met the other night were entirely nude beneath the covers.

For a moment he froze, a thousand thoughts a second crossing his mind, first off involving a series of recollections of the night before and how he even managed to get someone so attractive into his home, and then a gasp sounded off before he muted himself turning quickly to shut the alarm off before it even sounded and made a rude noise to wake his guest. His eyes went wide and entire body shaking. He had given his first to a stranger he had met at his favorite cafe while trying his hardest to be normal and sociable. Was that appropriate or had he crossed some sort of strange social line? And had he disrespected Lily? Certainly Lily herself was a gem to behold, she was also extremely charismatic and though she might have had some issues with body image, she was much more level-headed than Frey could ever hope to be, or at least he thought so.

At the moment he wasn't really sure what to make of Lily. The simple fact she was in his bed still and not leaving him hanging should have been enough to keep him at ease, but he wasn't even sure if at this point she actually cared about him, or if what they did was something special. He remembered that they were just content with being friends, just friends after all meant anything could happen, and yet Lily had expressed wanting just a bit more, even if it were just for the purposes of getting in his pants. She had been honest, forward, and everything that he could never say in public she had managed to say, but he put up his backbone for once and tried to make a friend. Frey had never thought he would have ended up actually sleeping with her.

Shivering just a bit he felt a bit frightened, not from the fact that he had given his first to some stranger; though that did weigh on his mind, rather from how Lily would react once she woke up. With his ears flattened back against his head he thought of all the little things he should perhaps be doing. He could get up right now and start breakfast, or maybe even start some coffee, was that the normal thing to do in this situation? But then what if Lily got up when he wasn't there and she thought that Frey had simply up and left? It was almost too much for him to handle, and yet he couldn't move an inch at all to bite his claws or to scratch at his arms, or any of his other nervous twitches because any movement could wake her early, and he wasn't sure how she was in the morning. It wasn't until he felt something soft against his thigh that he jumped with a gasp, his eyes turning down to see Lily's paw upon his thigh, her half-lidded eyes looking up at him, sleep still touching her features as her words came out groggy and slow, "G'mornin'...What're you doin' just sitting there silly?"

As her head touched his thigh, his ears raised on high and his cheeks felt as if fire had touched them even in the cool morning. Clearing his throat to respond, his mouth hung open and yet no words came out. He simply shook for a moment and stared down at her. He couldn't say a single word and in this he realized that he was panicking. He tried to count in his mind, to distract himself from the oncoming mental storm, but he couldn't, already he felt like such a fat failure and yet he hadn't done a single thing wrong or right, and even acknowledging that he couldn't say a word.

Just as he felt the tears about to come. Lily moved up to press her cheek against his chest, her arms coiling around him tight as she spoke, the morning slog gone from her voice as she spoke, "Frey? C'mon...Just talk to me, what's going on? Do you think we made a mistake? Were you hoping for something different...Just don't stay quiet like that and bottle up buddy."

Frey's body relaxed for a moment even though it felt strange to be embraced so early in the morning, he sucked in a breath and placed his chin on her head before speaking finally, "Nooo...I...What do I do now? We're friends I know that...But...I don't know what to do...Should I have gotten up to get you breakfast, should I have just cuddled? I...I'm not sure what to really make of this."

Lily chuckled as she gave his chest a kiss and sat up next to him, her paw touching his, "Well you had the right thoughts. I'm more of a wake up to breakfast type of gal...But we can do that together right? Just friends though...You're okay with that right?"

Frey let out a breath and shook, nodding with a weak smile, "Of course...I was more worried I was doing something wrong right now..."

Lily gave his cheek a gentle peck and then slipped out of bed with a loud yawn. Frey averting his eyes as she began searching the room for her clothing, "Where did I leave that stuff...Bathroom I think right Frey?"

Though he had already seen her nude once he averted his gaze still while responding, "I ah...Think so, along with mine."

Soon enough he felt the thwack of cloth against his head, his vision obscured by his shirt, "C'mon, it isn't as if you haven't seen all of this already goof, besides, we've got breakfast to make, oh and I'll be cooking. You still look so frightened I feel bad, like I'm the one who made some mistake, so I'm treating you."

Frey removed the shirt from his face to protest, but he saw her from behind pulling up her underwear and tucking herself away, his mouth shut, but he did not look away. Instead he sighed and got out of bed deciding to be brave and get his shirt on while uttering his muffled complaint, "I should be the one treating you...You're the guest right?"

Lily smiled as she slipped into her dress, "Yeah, but you seem a bit freaked out, so I might as well take the reigns this time." She then sing songed as she sauntered past his sight and through the door, "Since you were so brave."

Flustered and unsure of what to really say he got up and followed her, his tail twitching in a bit of annoyance and embarrassment. What could he really say against all of that, and yet the situation had been ten times better than anything he had expected to come of this morning, and so he simply felt content and just a bit happy that things seemed to be progressing so well. By the time he caught up with her in the kitchen of his apartment she was already digging through cupboards and other nooks and crannies for pans and ingredients. With a sigh he managed to at least push himself into the kitchen to help, though she swatted at him playfully and stuck her tongue out.

It was nice, to cook with someone. It still felt routine and so he could lose himself in it, and yet there was something satisfying about answering to his name to hand an ingredient, or to take over what they counted as a station. Together they worked like a unit to make something, even though that something was simply pancakes and bacon, nothing special, but they had still made it together. While they had prepared their food, Frey had gotten two glasses out full of orange juice and set them on the counter along with the plates just before they began eating, Lily choosing to opt out of the bacon since she wasn't a big meat eater, but appreciating the orange juice.

Together they stood there eating in silence, her green eyes upon him. During their little cooking time she had gathered her things from the living room, her purse in particular and she had her phone out on the counter, his own eyes looking to that before looking to her. The silence felt a bit strange, but it was soon enough broken by Lily's voice after she finished a mouthful of pancake, "So...When are you gonna ask for my phone number?"

Frey swallowed hard, nearly choking, his eyes shutting for a moment as he gasped out for breath, "I uh...Am I supposed to do that?"

Lily chuckled and set her plate down apparently done as she stepped over to him, a digit touching his forehead, "Go get your phone."

Frey blinked and set his plate aside, his own appetite sated as he went to find his own cell phone. When he returned she promptly took it from him, taking her phone and his phone and using them in either paw a big smile on her lips. When she was finished she placed his phone gingerly in his touch and pointed to the screen, "My number and address right here. I'll be okay to answer pretty much all the time, I work on the weekdays, so don't be worried if I don't answer then, oh, but feel free to text as much as you want, and.." She brandished the screen of her phone where his number and address were listed under the name, 'Anxious tux' a nickname that had his cheeks flustered again, but before she could complain she pulled her phone away and spoke, turning around on heel, "I like your coat of fur. Not really a tux...Something a bit more chaotic, but still super soft...If I think of a better nickname I'll change it, you can give me a silly nickname too y'know?"

Frey responded without thinking with a small smile, "I don't think I have one...Maybe after I'm over the shock of this actually happening." Then hearing his own words he amended with a nervous grimace, "Of course I mean a good shock...I just can't believe you took interest in me, and that I actually...Well, actually said something."

Lily giggled and shook her head before taking her purse, "Frey you did fine in every single way...For a first timer you were gentle and rough when you needed to be...More importantly you were caring even though we're just friends, so just take it easy."

Frey breathed out, some relief crossing his features as he began to walk with her to the door, Lily continuing on, "I liked the trashy movies and chatter...Maybe we can hang out next weekend or I can introduce you to some of my friends sometime. We go out hiking sometimes."

Frey's eyes widened as he heard her speak. The thought of meeting other people was terrifying, but rather than voice that he chirped, "Hiking?"

Lily turned to give his cheek a soft pat, "Yup, and don't worry, one thing at a time right. Wouldn't want to overload you, but basically you can expect all of my terrible forward nature to continue into trying to yank you into my inner circle...So don't be too scared."

Frey gulped, "Uh...I don't know about that Lily--." His words were then silenced as she gave him a soft peck on the lips.

"Relax, I'm teasing a bit. We'll take everything slow. Who knows, maybe you'll find your dream boy or girl around my group...Anyway, take it easy Frey and don't be afraid to text." she said with a small smile before stepping away. Frey looking out the door through the hallway at her before stepping back inside to shut the door and slowly lock it.

All of that had just happened. It had really just happened. Was that a normal morning, an anxious morning, or maybe something in between? Either way he was left both confused and happy at the same time. His morning then seemed to grow even better when she texted him, "Don't miss me too much lil' tux. I'll be back soon enough."

With a sigh he rubbed at the back of his head, checking his schedule and stepping to a window to look outside. He had nothing to do, and no one to talk to really, but from the other day and night and this morning he was pretty drained. Perhaps a day relaxing on the internet would be nice, and for once he didn't feel guilty for that, because he had done something that he had never done before. He had met someone out on the town and made what seemed like a good friend. Frey could afford to go back into his shell for just a little bit, and so he began doing the dishes, wondering if he'd play a game or read a book, maybe a mix of both.
