This is my first real story on here, and it's more of a test to see whether my writing is still any good ^.=.^ Hope y'all enjoy! Also, any constructive criticism is greatly appreciated! I'd love to post more stories here in the future.

The snow came down heavily, obscuring his vision. Through squinted eyes and gritted teeth, he climbed the precarious mountain before him, the fur draped around his gray scaled hide bellowing in the fierce winds. But the cold did not bother him. The dragon was born in the living chaos of a volcanic eruption, but this weather...well, it was just as familiar as the flames. Through his obscured vision, he could see, in the near distance, the peak of the mountain. As his icy blue eyes focused on his destination, he redoubled his efforts. He must finish the climb, for what awaited him at the top was a sight he has yearned to see again for years.

Minutes pass in the now dwindling snowstorm, the only sound aside from the occasional howling bursts of wind being the dragon's heavy footfalls in the deep, pure white snow. He grew closer to his destination, closer to what he wanted. Memories flooded through his mind: memories of his childhood in the tundra that now surrounds him, memories of better times. A joyous childhood, in a beautiful land. He neared the peak. The snowfall all but ceased by this point, and his vision cleared. Just a bit more.

Finally, as the last of the snowfall made its descent to Earth, he reached the peak. His wings spread joyfully and he let out a bellowing flame from his maw that lit up the cloudy sky. Finally, after so long, he was here. Before him in the distance lie a volcano, its peak jutting into the sky like an arrowhead. As the flames died down, he gazed upon it and smiled for the first time since he began his ascent. "Well..." He finally spoke in a hushed tone, his voice thick with a heavy Russian accent "...It is good to be back again." And with a soft chuckle, he spread his wings and leaped from the mountaintop...and flew off, to the ashen volcanic peak he called home.
