Chapter 1 - The fox Warrior

A long time ago in a village called Shen-Hao a warrior lived peacefully with his family. The red fox warrior Bai-Liang lived with his wife, daughter and son. He was trained to be part of the Jade warriors, some of the Emperors strongest forces. Known for their strength and agility they were feared by their those who crossed their path. After one particular battle he was injured and could not fight anymore. This left Bai with nowhere to go so after searching for a new purpose he eventually settled down in a mountain farming village where he met his wife.

He now protects his family and village from the threats of wildlife while leading a simpler fuller life. He had finally found purpose in this farming village. Protecting them and his family was his new way of life. Seeing them live peacefully always filled Bai Liang with happiness. The village was under the leadership of Emperor Shifu and the Shifu Dynasty. They provided the main city Mao-Ung with rice and vegetables. The village always did well.

But the breaths of fate had other ideas.

"Morning Bai!" said a villager as he walked.

A woman stopped him "Thanks so much for the help yesterday Bai, I do get overwhelmed sometimes."

Bai smiled at her, he was happy to help even if his arms were still sore from all the work he had to do. "Not a Problem, I honestly don't know how you tend to that Farm by yourself."

Her smile disappeared a bit "It's been tough since Shian Died but I make Due."

Bai looked at her "I wish I was as strong as you. I will be sure to leave a Drake tulip."

She smiled and walked off.

Drake tulips are a vibrant orange and yellow flower. They are used in a tradition in the village where you find a fully blossomed flower and lay it on a grave of someone important to you. The Flower is meant to be a gift for the deceased. In Return the spirit will grant you good luck on your endeavour as long as it follows the true path. The wrong path of course being where you are causing harm or doing damage.

Bai made his way back to his farm, watching the kids play while he walked. Seeing young ones running around always put him at ease, nothing like the sound of a kid's laughter. The pitter patter of little Paws running around, the occasional scream as someone becomes "It" and they don't want to be "It".

It's the sound of life and Bai loved it. A far cry from what he used to do in his previous life.

"Daddy!" Two sets of paws came running out the house and Bai suddenly found himself being jumped. "AAARGH, you got me! You little rascals." Bai Fell to the ground. "Get off!" Bai said in a serious tone. His Daughter Ling and Son Chen got off. "Is that how you welcome back your dad?". There was a moment of silence before a sly smile crept onto Bai's face.

"Hah, fooled you!" Bai Grabbed his kids "Hah Ha! My trick worked, now I have you both!". His kids started squirming. "No fair! You cheated!" said Chen as he wiggled out of Bai's arm. "Hehe, I could never get angry at you two Chubby cheeks!" He gave them both a kiss on the forehead. "Daaad stop!" cried Chen. "Oh alright, I have to tend to the fields anyway, you to go along and play."

He walked around the house into the field and was greeted by an amusing sight. The Sexy fox butt of his wife was wiggling in front of him as she tried to get some weeds out. He stared at it for a moment and then decided to give the butt a poke.

"OH!" She spun around immediately "You!... Don't do that!"

Bai looked at her with sheepish grin. "I can't help it... you have a nice butt."

She glared at him clearly not as amused as he was. Bai thought he might've gone a bit too far this time. Then suddenly she just grabbed him and kissed him. She then hugged him snuggling up in his arms. While hugging she said quietly by his ear "Got you, Silly fox." He shook his head slightly They released their hug and just stared into each other's eyes other for a moment.

She eventually bent down and handed him a basket "Well come on then, we need to finish weeding the crops." Bai picked up the basket and made a start. Somehow she melted all the pain from yesterday's work away.

Their farm is one of the few farms in the village that doesn't grow rice, they grow vegetables and wheat for the village which meant a bit more labour. Getting down and dirty to tend to the crops.

"I'm going to go make the kids something to eat." Said Lee. His wife stood up and went into the house. Bai stared at her as she walked, enthralled by her. After she disappeared from sight he carried on.

Bai was tending to his crops happily when a villager came running a look of fear planted on his face.

"What is wrong?" asked Bai Liang as the villager got closer.

"There's something near the mountains, I heard a roar and some screams!" Exclaimed the villager who was visually distraught.

"Calm down, can you tell me where exactly you heard this?" asked Bai.

"Not far up the mountain path Zen." said the villager.

"All right stay here and stay safe!" commanded Bai Liang.

"I will go deal with our predator so that no one else gets hurt!"

Bai Liang hastily ran to his house. His wife peered out the kitchen with a look of confusion. Bai looked at her and just said "Animal problem by the mountain." He went to quickly retrieve his bow and sword. Gathering his equipment, he said goodbye to his wife and kids. He gave his wife a kiss and said "I'll be back soon." Bai left his house and set off to the foot of the mountains so that he could find the source of the trouble. The Lu Dong forest lay between him and the mountain. There was a path a bit around the forest but it would take longer. So he ran straight through the forest to get to the predator before it got to the village.

After almost 2 hours on foot he got there and soon found the source of the trouble. He found a tiger lying dead not too far from road Zen's start, just as the villager said. Upon closer look Bai Liang saw that the tiger had been felled by a sword. Bai was worried by this sight.

"Hmm no villager here owns a sword, let alone be able to kill a tiger with one." he said.

Bai Liang looked around at his surroundings when something caught his eye. On the Tigers claw was a piece of cloth. Bai Liang grabbed the piece of cloth off the tigers claw. It looked like it belonged to a piece of clothing. He inspected the scrap of black cloth and turned it over. What he saw struck fear into his heart for this was no villagers clothing but the clothing of evil.

Bai Liang threw the piece of cloth and Stumbled backwards dropping his sword.

"It... It cannot be..."

Flashbacks of his past suddenly plagued him. Panting, Bai got back up and grabbed his sword. He picked up the piece of cloth again. As he did so he heard some unusual noise coming from the distance. Faintly he could hear commotion... His ears were like radars, both at full attention sourcing the sound. They soon fell flat as fear struck his heart. It was the screams of people. And it was coming from the village....

He immediately Sprinted back into the forest at a pace he had never mustered before. He was making record time, almost half the time it took him to get there.

As he got closer to the village the air started to get thicker. He got to the edge of the forest and stopped in his tracks. He gasped and grabbed his chest as his heart sank at what he saw.

Thick plumes of smoke were coming from the once vibrant village, houses were burning fiercely and were badly damaged. Hundreds of years of family's work torn to the ground. Tears rolled down his cheeks as he saw the burning wreck that was moments ago, a living thriving village.

A Horrible sensation struck Bai and he darted back to his house. He came to a shuddering halt before an inferno of fire that engulfed his house. Bai Desperately tried to get the door open but it was stuck. He pulled out his sword and with a few great swipes he smashed the door down. Inside the hallway he saw a body lying limp on the ground. He ran to it and fell on his knees. Bai turned it over to see his wife. A support beam nearby fell, Bai quickly grabbed her body and dragged it out. As he pulled her out the house caved in.

Bai lay her on the floor and desperately tried to resuscitate her.

"My love! Wake up!"

He shook her to try get a response.

"Please wake up!"

A desperate fox put his ear to her chest and heard nothing.... Nor breathing, no heartbeat.

"No...."

"NOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Bai Yowled at the sky. Tears streaming down his face.

He just grabbed her and hugged her. Lying on the floor with her. Never wanting to let her go.

Bai Laid there, his soulmate gone, he was crushed. So he lay there and cried, It's all he could do was to cry. The swirling inferno surrounding him meant nothing now that she was gone. "Lee Please come back to me.... Lee..."

His ears perked up as a noise pierced the torment.

"Help!"

Bai looked up his vision blurry from tears, his ears perking up.

"Somebody Help us!" Another voice added to the chaos. They seemed to be coming from behind the house in a field.

It took Bai a second but after a sudden realisation he leapt up into a run. "I know those voices!". His feet landed with heavy thuds as he sprinted around the side of the house and out into the fields. The entire area was engulfed in smoke and flame. But Bai stopped and started frantically looking through the smoke and fire. But it was so thick!

Choking and covering his eyes he desperately searched for the voices.

"Help!"

Bai's ears sharply perked up and he now knew the direction of the sound. He Ran towards barely taking note of the fire that he was pounding his feet into, he was so fast the flames almost had no effect on him.

He arrived to a small clearing in the field where a sheet of cloth lay on ground. Cowering under where two little figures, their eyes darting around, desperately searching for help. When he saw the eyes Pure joy surged through them as he realised they were his pups!

Swiftly he grabbed them and carried on running until they broke out of the field onto the forgiving cold green grass. Bai almost dropped his kids in exhaustion and flumped down onto the ground. Panting, crying, plain out exhausted he lay there not able to do anything more.

His pain finally hit in full. Almost everyone was dead. The love of his life dead... His friends Dead... Everyone he knew and everything he built was gone. Bai rolled over and started sobbing uncontrollably.

A Dark veil of pain and suffering had suddenly surrounded him and he found himself trapped in the middle.

A piercing ray of light burned the veil away when he felt two sets of small paws grabbed him and hugged him.

"Daddy!"

He opened his eyes to see his son and daughter distraught clinging on to him. His saving graces were there hugging him back to reality. He sat up, grabbed them and cuddled them tight.

This managed to give him enough clarity to realise he had to move them away from danger.

He hugged them. "Shh Shh Shh Stop crying, we are ok, we are ok."

"But Daddy there's so much fire and, and the evil men might come back!" Ling said. Bai carried on squeezing them hard. "The fire will go away and I will always, ALWAYS protect you the best I can from Evil. That's a promise."

Chen cried "But, but they so scary and they might come back!"

"Shh Shh Shh, look at me, both of you! I will always protect you! No matter what happens. Now come I need you to grab Daddies hands because we need to move away from here."

He Grabbed their hands and shakily got up. With renewed strength from his Kids they moved off.

"We will come back when the Dragons Breath has stopped and the Wind of serenity has rolled in."

They walked off to the forest edge where Bai could conceal their presence and make camp.
