Chapter 17: Medical Check-Up

First off I don't own the chars of the Digimon Series, however I do own Alphonse aka Al and Sarah, his mother. I apologize first hand if there are any spelling and grammar errors in this chapter. Anything else, please enjoy.
Chapter 17: Medical Check-Up
Al finished writing his report about yesterday's incident and began stretching on his chair. He looked at the clock at his left and saw that it was 5:30 in the morning. ‘Wow, it's late already? I better get packed, showered, ate and rush to the school.' When Al wanted to stand up, he felt his body is so sore for no reason, but he continue his routine morning with haste and finished by having a breakfast at six in the morning. His backpacks is at the side of the table and ready, bowl of cereal with toasted butter bread and a milk served and ready to be devoured by Al.
By the time he took the third scoop, his mother came out of her room still yawning. "Did you have so much work in the office?" He asked.
"Yes, I have. The boss intends to make a new proposal in order to increase the company's benefit. He said the dead line is by the end of this month." Sarah explained why she woke till midnight.
"But still, why do you have to work so hard even at home? I know that your boss gave you extra, because he is generous to you and slightly had a crush on you or perverted on you."
"The boss announced to all his staff that whoever had the greatest and brightest idea of proposal and get accepted will get a raise."
Al rubbed his chin with his left hand and still eating. "Sounds promising enough, what is the subject for this proposal?"
"The boss wants to create a program that is beneficial, attract a lot of customers and last for more than a month."
"I don't like the sound of it. I think you should sit this one out."
"No I can't. All of the staff must participate."
"I have a bad feeling about this. I recommend creating a silly one for not being chosen. If he chooses you among all of them, I can clarify that your boss is a wacko around you."
"I'm not going to do that. I'll be taking my chance and hopefully I could get a raise."
"Suit yourself, mom. I better get going... oh and don't forget to eat the cake I made in school yesterday mom. It's in my room. Bye." Al rushed toward the door and passes all of his familiar streets to reach the school.
By the time he reaches the school, he saw Vinnie sorting her textbooks in to her locker. Al intended to call her but decide to against it and continue to walk. When he passed behind Vinnie, she saw him and decided to call him and Al pretend didn't hear her as if his mind was distracted.
Vinnie was quite annoyed by Al ignorance and patted his shoulder hard. But what Al received is a hard smack with a gorilla's hand at least that is what he felt right now because he felt a lot of pain. Vinnie's face was turned from frown to worry by Al's reaction. "Are you alright, did I hit you that hard?"
Al looked at Vinnie still in pain. "It's okay Vinnie. I probably had a bad muscle cramp when I was asleep." ‘But still I wonder why my body felt hurt?' Then he remembered what Gennai said about the virus effects. ‘Geez... thanks for a shocking memory, brain.' He thought and began to stand up enduring the pain and headed for his locker. When the first period bell rang, he headed to his class with a slow pace adjusting his pain in his body and by the time he reached to his class it was 15 minutes late.
The teacher saw him opened the door, "I was wondering where were you, Alphonse."
Al frowned a little. "My body feels a little heavy this morning, so I can't walk fast enough to get here on time."
The teacher put on the glasses and took a piece of paper from his pocket shirt. "Then you don't mind to go to the clinic room. Ms. Kamiya is waiting for you there." He gave the hall pass ticket to Al and send Al straight to the clinic room.
In the clinic room, he saw that Kari is talking to the nurse either an idle chat or their works. After seeing Al entered the clinic the chatters were halt. The nurse looked at Al then look back at Kari. "So this is Alphonse Revenant that you were waiting for?"
Kari replied with a nod and, "Yes he is."
The nurse looked at Al from head to toe. "I don't see any problem here so why do you want to check him up?"
"Just a little precaution, I could say." She said with a smile.
"Alright. Come here Mr. Revenant. Have a seat on the stool in front of you." Al obeyed every word from the nurse. The nurse took a flashlight and a tongue holder. "Open your mouth wide." Al obliged and the nurse checked him up. "I say it is quite normal despite the soar because of yelling." Then she exam the eye reflex, "Normal." She then checked his ears, "Besides the ear wax, everything is normal." The nurse took out the stethoscope from the drawer. "Lift up your shirt." Again Al obliged and lifted up his shirt.
The nurse checked his heart beat for a moment and what she heard isn't pleased. "Alright, show me your arm." Al obliged and shows his arm. The nurse took his arm roughly which makes Al yelled in pain. "I thought so. You were holding your pain from this morning. By the looks of it, you were having a muscle cramp everywhere as if you were pushing your body over the limit."
The nurse released his arm and began to write something on her desk. "A painkiller and some rest will do the trick." The nurse gave him a paper that she wrote before. "This is a notice letter for your parent or guardian, it will tell them that you have the permission to stay at home and rest." After everything is settle the nurse began to stretch and head out to buy some drink for herself, leaving Al and Kari alone in the clinic.
Kari looked at Al folding her arms. "I knew that you will come to the school even if I told you to rest."
"Well blame it on that Glitches for making me passed out all night. Anyway here is the report that Gennai asked me." Al replied with an annoyed voice, then he reaches for his backpack and took out the paper he wrote.
Kari took the paper and read it thoroughly. "It looks like everything is in order at least, and now for the present from us." Kari put the paper into her bag and took out three decks of card. Al looked closer to the card and it's a Digimon card. Al looked thoroughly on the decks and to his surprise; one of it had more rare cards the other while the others had half of the deck.
"Ms. Kari, I-I can't accept this. A-Almost the entire deck is rare." Al gasped because of the rare cards in the deck.
"I never expect her to gave this many rare cards." Kari replied.
"Her...?"
"I'm guessing that this deck is from Rika." She replied while pointing the deck that has rare cards than the other two.
"What about the others?"
"They were from Takato and Henry."
"This is amazing, Ms. Kari. I never expect rare cards that many. I should thank them all when I see them again."
"I recommend hiding it into your backpack now because you will be out of this school early." Al put the decks into his backpack and hid it. The nurse came in afterwards with a can of coffee.
"Why are you still here? I thought that I dismiss you from my office a minute ago. Hop on to it." Al walked out from the clinic room along with Kari.
After they were away from the clinic room, Al began to wonder "Ms. Kari, I was wondering why you gave me body examination?"
"After what happened to you in there, there is no telling what will happen to your physical body. That is why we need you to be exam, and my worries had been answered."
"I don't understand."
"The muscle cramp you had just now is part of the effect of what the Glitch gave you. Maybe it could get worst."
Al starting to feel uneasy about this topic, "How worse can it get?"
Kari thought a bit for the answer. "I don't know, maybe comatose or even dead. We don't know for sure, that is why Gennai asked all of us who made contact with the Glitch must write a report."
"I understand. How far are we getting into? I mean the virus. "
"So far, we make a device that can protect them from the virus and also imbued our partner's power with virus deletion."
"Will I get one of those devices?" Al asked.
"After Gennai met you yesterday and saw the reports from ours, you deserve to get one."
"One more question. Is my PC clean from virus?"
Kari took a sigh and replied. "Yes and no." Al looked at Kari hoping she would explain what she meant. "What I meant is that you are free to use your PC normally, but I must warn you that the virus is still there and has been quarantine. It might leak out while you play the game so you have to be careful."
Al nodded with confirmation and started to walk out of the school, but when he reached the entrance Al remember something. "Ms. Kari. What about my lessons for today's school?"
"I'll give it to you tomorrow." Al nodded again and began to walk back to his home.
It takes only an hour and a half from his school to his home. By the time he reaches his home, his mother already left to work which gave him no reason to explain why he came home early. He looked for his key in his backpack and unlocked the door. After closing the door, he started to rest on that door but when his back hit the door he felt a slight dislocated pain which shoot him back up straight. ‘Ouch... I forgot about my sore body because of the game.' He thought, ‘I should take some painkillers before I rest up in my room.'
He walked straight to the kitchen where the medicines were kept and took two pills of painkillers then chugged it down without water. Al started to walk back to the living room and headed to his room. He looked at the time and it was nine in the morning. ‘I guess I take a snooze for a while before lunch time.' So he headed toward his bed then slump down, and go to sleep.
