It was a dark and erie night, the moon being the only source of light in the blackened and burned forest. The stumps of fallen trees still smuther, and the trees that still managed to stand was recolored like someone had dipped it in black paint. The ground is covered with ash, and there is nothing to be heard from life as the sound of smaller fires continue to burn. The smoke leaves a small aruora around the pale, bright moon and leaves the stars hidden behind it's deadly mist. What was a once small fire had run into a rampage and devoured the whole forst and anything inside it.

The young fox pup looked up from where his borrow once stood beneath the now burned oak tree. Everything he once knew was stolen from him in only a matter of hours, but what seemed to him as days. His mother had pushed him out of the borrow and into a nearby river to shield him from the ongoing inferno, and she ran back to help the others out of the small den, but she never came back. He looked where the tree had fallen and stared with teary eyes at the slightly burned body of his father and mother, his father pinned to the ground by the tree, his mother holding his fathter's paw. He closed his eyes and watched the whole scene unfold of what became of his father's and mother's fate.

The fire continued to burn as the mature fox was running in the fire, lost and confused of what to do. He hears his mate's desperate calls for him and he runs with all his might, dispite the smoke choking him. He stops when he's about 5 feet from her and hesitates as he stares at the den, fire throbbing out of it. He had no idea that his only son was safe, but bowed his head in dispair, sadness burning like the fire around them. He looks up as he hears the crunching sound of the tree beginning to collaspe in the direction of where his mate is standing. All goes black. The male fox slowly opens his eyes, staring at his wife, who's eyes were filled with tears from her huspands desperate rescue. He did the only thing he could to save her, sacrifice himself for her. He had pushed her out of the way, but ran out of time to get out himself. He tried to speak, but the compination of the pain and smoke made him slowly lose the ability to live, life fading from him. His wife had stayed with him until her death, holding his paws.

The young fox opens his eyes and looks back at the moon, tears falling from his eyes and landing on the blackened stump of the tree that had claimed both his mother and father. He looked down in rage, sadness still burning, but the inferno from within had burst.

"WHY!!!" He yells at the moon, his voice echoing like a sonic boom. He falls down and cries again until he falls asleep. He wakes up a few hours later and looks at a wolf about his age, but can tell that the fire had changed his life as well. He fur was covered in ash, mere brown spots peering in small places. He looked down at the fox before looking at the fox's parents.

"Same here...but my mother had been dead before I even got to know her." the wolf said. "Why did this happen? There was no call for a fire like this. We always lived in peace, didn't we?"

The fox looks down at the dark floor. "I don't know...but I can't understand why we are the only ones to live. Why just us?" The fox slowly begins to cry agian.

"I doubt we're the only ones." The wolf said. "I bet there are others who did servive like us. I just hope we can find them." He looks at the dead foxes again and bows his head. "My father was carrying me to safety when he tripped and fell. It was planned, because some odd figure suddenly jumped from the bushes and jumped on him. The rolled, fighting eachother, slowly to the edge of the cliff we were on, overseeing the fire." He shakes his head. "I yelled for my father to watch out, but by the time he responded, he was grasping for the edge of the cliff. He had grabbed it, but the figure held tightly on his foot. I ran to try to help him, but he just stared at me, closed his eyes, and told me to take care and run from the fire." The wolf collasped, sadness striking him like a double pladed dagger. "He let go."

The fox looked up and stared at the wolf. "What should we do now?" asked the fox.

"I don't know...I don't know..."

"Should we look for others?"

"I don't know...stop asking me!"

Rage started to flow through the fox again, and let it out like before. "LISTEN, US STANDING HERE CRYING ABOUT IT WILL DO US NO GOOD! WE HAVE TO DO SOMETHING!!!" He collasped and stared at the wolf, who was looking at him like he had just been slashed at. "eh? What...what happened?"

"Yo...yo...you...nevermind, it's not really worth talking about." He got up and tried to shake off the ash, but with no success. "Anyways, since we might not make it, my name is Yujo."

The fox smiles alittle for the first time. "Flexus."

"Flexus? What name is that?"

"What name is Yujo?"

"Yu jo...that question is asked too many times..."

"Oh, why where you named that?"

"I don't know, ask my lifeless father, where ever he is!"

"Hey, take it easy, your father only died. My parents both died, and my mother could have lived."

"I noticed."

"You shut up!"

"Ok ok! Take it easy, I'm sorry." Yoju obviously feared Flexus' anger, and wanted to stay far from it at any cost. "I guess we should look for others..."

"Fine."

They walk away from the burned oak tree and walk past the river where Flexus' mother had rested him next to. He bows his head and follows Yoju deeper into the dead forest, nothing to be heard. It didn't take long for anything to change however.

"What kind of meat did you used to eat, Flexus?"

"What ever my dad caught..."

"I prefer moose, but we rarely get them now. What the?!"

The stopped at the top of a small hill and looked at the barron graveyard, lifeless as it was black. The sun gave a feirce red glow and stared at them like it wanted to start another fire again. They look down the hill and see a small bob cat walk its way up the hill, carrying something big behind it.

It was the cat's dead brother, who was most obviously from a different litter than she was. She looked up at the two and grinned.

"What do you want!?" She yelled at them.

"Hey, take it easy! We thought everyone was dead..."

"Yujo, by anychance did you ever have cat before?"

"Flexus, shut up! And no I haven't. Supposed to be too hard to eat, and it's just not worth it."

"I heard that! And if you think I'm going with you two guys, then you're both nuts!"

"Fine with me. Let's go Flexus."

"No."

"What!? Are you...moan..."

"You know, you never told me what happened back there..."

"It was nothing, I just had that memory happen again..."

"What are you guys talking about now?"

"Yujo doesn't apperently want you to come with us, but I do..."

"Eww, and be with guys like you?! How can I trust you?"

"Hey, you can trust me. I'm not so sure about Yujo though..."

"Hey, I heard that! That is so not funny!"

"Is he always like this, er what is your name fox?"

"Flexus."

"Hehe, cute name..."

"Um, thanks..."

"Oh brother..." The wolf stands up and starts walking away. "If you're with us, then come on. Otherwise, just go with your parents. It's not worth dragging them around. I smelled them when I got to the top of the hill, and I'm just a pup!" He continues walking down the hill. The bob cat begins to cry alittle, Flexus walking over to confert her.

"He's just blown over too. We atleast have the bodies of our parents. His mother died while he was younger and his father was killed from falling into the fire from a cliff, so he has nothing to remember them by..."

The bob cat looks up and bows her head again. "Wow...it must really hurt...you're right anyways ...but why here?"

"I don't know...we didn't do anything to deserve this!"

"Are you two coming or what?!"

"Fine, I'll come with you two, but if I get..."

"Listen, just stay by me, and you'll be fine."

"Really? Thanks." She gives Flexus a peck. "My name is Glena."

"Fle..."

"I know, Flexus, and bossy over there is Yujo."

"Ya." He runs and catches up with Yujo, who didn't walk that far from the hill. Glena starts to run to them, but stops and looks back at the bodies. She walks to them and closes her eyes. "I'll be fine... I just need to know why this had to happen..." She runs up after the two males and stops when she is up with them.

"It's getting dark... we should stop here."

"Yujo, this isn't a good idea. You know that!"

"Flexus, you know... never mind...do you want to stop or not?"

"Fine, we'll stop here..."

"Flexus, thank you."

"What do you mean Glena?"

"For you know, taking me with you."

"Aw, how sweet? Do you two want a tree to make out in?"

"Eww!"

"Yujo!"

The wolf falls back laughing and stops when he hears Flexus starting to growl. He immediatly goes into the surrender posisition and prays that Flexus would calm down.

"Yujo, are you ok?"

"Ya...I'll be fine Glena... I... I need to talk to you..." Yugo stares at Flexus. "...alone..."

The fox thinks for a second before nodding. Glena walks behind a bush where Yujo was and waited for what Yujo had to say.

"Well?" asked the slightly annoyed cat.

"It's about...Flexus..." sad the wolf in embarrisment...

"Ya, what about him?"

Thw wolf looks down. "I... I konw who started this fire..."

The bob cat glares at him. "WHO!?"

Yujo closes Glena's mouth. "Quiet! This is important, but you have to shut ip!" He let go of her mouth and looks back. "Flexus...he...he did it."

The cat glared at him. "You liar!!"

"No...it's not what is seems...he didn't do it on purpose..."

"Your just jealuse of him!"

"Jealuse of making rings of fire around me when I get angry!" He held her against a wall, showing the severity of what he just said. She looks at him with watery eyes and looks down in defeat.

"No..."

"That is why I have to keep him calm..."

"No..."
