_This is the introductory chapter to a story that will probably take long to reach its yiff parts. It is based on a dream I had some months back and rather conceived then written so I hope you will accept that things are not always as "smooth" or "perfect" as they could possibly be, but rather the best I could make of my memories.

I can promise those that are willing to wait as it unfolds that they will get to alot of very intense scenes of wild, intimate love and passion which include a very lovely female rodent and the tale of how she finds her long lost heritage by the help of one who she deemed to be a deadly foe (spoiler yes.. but hopefully it helps making you curious enough to read)_

**A rodent's tale

Chapter I - How it all began**

The city of Krael lies on top of the table mountain from which the great streams Khur, Shaam and Talam erupt in manifold cascades down into the valleys below. A mighty city it has always been even though it saw so many ages and even more different masters. Still its silent grace radiates endurance of whatever might befall and its ancient walls of stone, could they be made to talk, would recount more tales and secrets then any wise man or storyteller could ever fathom.

This is a story from the second age, set in a time when the giants had been slain and the ancients and even their lesser children had long vanished into oblivion. It was a time of mortals rising higher then they had ever before and with their rise new knowledge was formed while old lore vanished. People were of few races these days for many had been extincted in the wars that had begun this era. Humans were spreading and both progress and malignity followed in their wake.

Krael had been a city of the Khael'tri once - a center of knowledge, science and trade. When humans reached the city it was abandoned, the disappearance of its inhabitants was credited to some sudden mysterious plague and after a thorough purification it was repopulated by the newcomers who were amazed at the tools and appliances their predecessors had left behind. For decades nobody discovered the vast caverns of the undercity, some natural, many others artificial. The horrors that began after their discovery, whether one would call them a missunderstanding or just another example of ruthless cruelty, would leave their warning scars on the city forever.

One fateful afternoon the son of the king set out to explore one of the larger caverns which he hoped would lead him to the source of the Talam. There, it was rumored, the elders, as the Khael'tri race whose faces nobody had ever seen were often called, had hidden their fabulous treasures and he, Komrim, would be the one to emerge again with the glory of their discovery - or so he believed in his pride and mindless arrogance, instilled by a life of pure luxury and god-like worship the royal family received in those days. He was last seen flouncing into the darkness, torch in hand, together with 3 servants.

Days passed and the king sent a search party after him which found no trace of him. Another search was launched, the angry king threatening them not to return without his son and they never did. He, Kolam, who had been a good king to the city for many years, fell into a valley of grief and sorrow. He would cry out at night for his lost son and the servants would shake their heads sadly, feeling with him. Then a time came when he would lapse into fits of rage after the sadness and the servants lost their compassion and grew afraid of him. With each day the king's madness grew worse until he was seen leaving the castle in just his undergarments, laughing insanely and vanishing into the same cleft that had swallowed up his son. The few retainers that had not turned their backs on him in his time of insanity launched a search that explored the caverns quite deeply. They never found a trace of their king, but made another fateful discovery. When they emerged back into daylight they had their spears adorned with the cut-off heads of what must have been large rats. These heads were presented to the folk of town and before long, as so often in the history of mankind, a quick scapegoat had been found for the drama of the past. They began to blame any accident, any loss, any strange turn of fate on these rat people as they were soon named. The dark times of the great hunts had begun.

If you liked the beginning of the story please tell me, if you think its flawed tell me too - and if you think something is missing you probably best wait for the next chapters :)
