I needed to get away; too much nonsense going on in my life, and I needed a breather. Having left my house in Nuvema Town a few hours ago, I had traveled by bike to Route 1, wanting to get away from the worries of the world. More specifically, the nearby forest that was said to have made an ideal camping ground. So that it was one less thing for my parents to worry about, I took my whole team with me. They never complained, anything to spend more time with their trainer was more than welcome for them. You can just call me Tessler, a trainer from Nuvema Town, nothing more. Reaching the entrance to the forest, I dismounted my bike as I carried on a shoulder. Pulling a Poké-ball out of my traveling bag, I released my starter Pokémon; a green scaled snake emerged in a flash of light. Noticing me, she was quick to nudge my leg with a smile. Patting her head, I said, returning the same expression "Hey Floresta." Excited to see the trees around us, my serperior followed me happily as we ventured deeper into the woods. Noon had come as we found an excellent spot. A lot of trees to protects us from rain, and a nearby river for water, both for making food and to clean ourselves off. Pleased with the spot, I parked my bike next to a nearby tree, took off my bag, and started setting up a tent for my Pokémon and I to sleep in. It took only a few minutes, but it wasn't long before the tent was completed. Sadly, only two individuals could fit at a time, but I can just cycle between my team every night. Shrugging my shoulders, I turned to my snake, still entranced by the green surrounding us. "Enjoying yourself, Floresta?" Cheerful hisses came out of her mouth, but that was all I needed for an answer. "Good. Hopefully the rest of the team feels the same."  Looking back at the tent for a second I turned my attention to my green scaled companion asking, "How does a run sound? We should keep our training up." Floresta liked the sound of the idea with an enthusiastic cry. Leaving our gear at the camp, I kept the rest of my team on standby. Sure the woods were relatively safe, and Pokémon Rangers were said to patrol the area every now and then, but it never hurt to have friends next to you every now and then. Departing from the campsite, Floresta was the first to bolt out with me following pursuit. My serperior never ceased to amuse me. Despite a lack of limbs, she was nimble. Shrugging off any potential fatigue, I kept following her through the woods, using the terrain to my advantage. Even the simplest things, jumping off a tree, swinging on a branch, anything to keep up with her. My first Pokémon, I had received her back as a smug little snivy from our region's Professor Juniper. She's my world in a way; having been one of my most reliable Pokémon, someone I could confide in when I didn't have anyone else, and someone that could comfort me when I felt troubled. Pulling me out of my

thoughts was hearing her scream. She barely screamed, so that was a concern whenever she did. Something must've scared her, as I caught up to Floresta. Soon I heard metal scratching on the bark of the nearby trees. Balling my fists, I stood my ground, knowing what surprised her. They didn't show themselves, but they didn't need to; Pawniards, metallic servants of the dark. And they were hungry, seeing my serperior as food for their insipid palettes. Pulling out a Poké-ball, I intended to throw out another Pokémon, only to feel a blade glide across my hand, a gash had formed stretching across my index finger and the wrist, my grip on the ball had lost as it hit the ground, and I growled at the cut I had gotten. I tried to ignore the pain as I felt blood escaping my hand, but my vision started to blur as I tried to stand my ground; was I losing more blood than I hoped? Before I could react, I hit the ground from shock and the loss of blood. My world turned dark as I heard an electrical explosion, and then nothing.
