Another boring day

Its another boring day, riding to work on the 500cc Yamaha Dirtking, my leather jacket clinging to my chest, red and black helmet hiding my expression as I pull into the afford Ingleburn carpark. Shutting the engine off, I pull the plug out and pocket it, heading inside the large warehouse doors and head to my locker. After putting everything away, I unzip my jacket, which unfurls into wings (who knew working for a secret organization had perks) and let them stretch, nodding to Eddie, who ducks under the left wing on his way past in his wheelchair. Closing them back up, I look around and see everyone else entering the factory, and spy a blonde using crutches, and move towards her, holding her from behind and kisses her cheek, smiling, and slowly pulls away and heads towards the back, and through a door, the noise on the other side deafening compared to the earlier room. Weaving through APCs and other armoured vehicles, I head towards a bay marked with a red and black dragon, the head poking through a triangle, or as the group was named after, a delta. Picking up a pad, I scan through a list of available missions, most concerning a mugging, theft, paranormal anomaly, but the better paying ones are named under rogues. Seeing a few familiar names, I walk into the room in my bay and login to the network, ticking off the missions I'm taking and head back to my bike, wings furling back into my jacket and replace the plug, the helmet appearing on my head, a trick I learned a while ago, and leave the yard, engine roaring my goodbyes as I hit the asphalt and I open it up, hitting 200 on the highway.

The first rogue I encounter is the old beta company tech specialist, Sarah Wanoki. Bright girl, not good on the whole fighting in shadows style Beta Co. are known for. Hiding up high, an antimatter rifle round punches through the shield tech she stole, taking her down. A quick call, and a cleaning crew is sent on its way. Gliding from the roof, I land on my bike in the back alleys of some inner city club row, kick it to life and ride off, heading towards the other target. My own second in command, Elizabeth Dorian. Pulling up outside her house, I summon my swords and walk up to the door, not bothering to knock and just kick it down, dodging a fireball coming from inside. I walk in and duck under a sword, flicking mine out and forcing the attacker back, a light from the kitchen shines on her and I sigh. This isn't going to be easy to stomach later. Flicking my off hand, I pull my sword into a reverse hold, and block another swing with my main and push it aside and twirl left, my off sword ready to plunge in while I face away. I feel a stop, then it sinks in, and I pull it to me, ending the fight, and walk away. On my bike, I look at the house before making the same call, flooring my bike before I even finish talking, heading back to the base, the clock in my helmet visor counting 10am.

Without stopping, I head to a second door past the main, and pull into the scattered shed of armour, stopping in my bay and start doing a check over the bike as I think over my life. A hired assassin, an ex demon commander, the devils champion. All my accomplished tasks, both good and bad. As 12 rolls around, I hear the clicking of crutches navigating my garage of armour, and I look over to see the same blonde, and I get up and pull her close, resting my head on hers. I'm told lunch is ready, and slowly follow to the main warehouse floor then to the lunch room, the smell of pizza wafting through the plastic strips that act as a door. Letting my wings out again, I sit down at a table and start eating, feeling most of my stress float away as I listen to the banter between workmates, mostly just jabs of sarcasm about another's work. After I finish, I kiss the blonde on her check, before returning to my bike and finish tuning the engine for more strength. As 3 rolls around, I check once more jobs, and sees one just a few houses from mine, and tick it on the network, checking a few details before leaving. Pulling my helmet on, I bring up a review on recruitment procedures, not having done one since I started in freelance. Pulling up at my house, I walk the few metres to the other house and knock, my wings unfurled. When the door opens, I see the father and son, the boy no older then I was when I started in the devils army. Walking in I explain to the father that the son has been labelled as one of talent in my line of work and needs training, as others may try to harm him if he stays here as a normal kid. After a brief talk between father and son, the boy walks over and nods, and I lead him to my house to start training. After I give him basics, an armoured car pulls up, and I put him in, sending him on for the rest of his training. A taxi passes the APC, and the blonde gets out and walks to the house, I hold her as she gets past the door, giving her a kiss on the lips, and walks to the kitchen to start dinner (it makes a great show with visitors watching. Her parents were over once and I made fire dance around my blonde beauty, their faces are priceless). After we eat, its a quick shower and then we are both in bed as sleep beckons us to lands untold.
