Twin's Tale: Prologue

Leathery wings flapped on either side of her body and cool crisp air flowed past her snout. Most knew her only by her station as Guardian of Light, but she called herself Annail when with friends, and Sirai when with others of her kind, other Greater Dragons. Other beings probably had other names for her, but she had never kept track of them.

Just like every other time in her life she was flying solo over a secluded part of the mountain range she called her home, but her heart and body ached, longed to be joined by a male. Her station and age simply would not allow time for a laying though, and she knew this. But Fate had other plans.

It was disgusting that he should have to walk around like this, Red Greater Dragon, Guardian of Fire, forced to slink around disguised as a wolf? But he would not have his plans ruined by being spotted early, not today!

'Pyer, sir! She's coming this way!' It was one of his lackeys, Ignus, who spoke, his firm voice just a front for the fear he felt in Pyer's presence. All of the pathetic wretches were terrified of his power, and rightly so.

Certainly this form was not very impressive, despite the blood-colored fur than ran over every inch of his body, but it was his natural form that envoked fear in these fools. He normally was a powerhouse, almost two-hundred feet of lithe muscle that could explode into action without notice and keep up long flights of hours on end. His forelegs were as thick as trees, but looked like saplings compared to his hind legs. Long leathery wings spread from his shoulders, a little over two hundred feet tip to tip when spread fully. And all of this was covered with a crimson hide that always looked wet, giving his body the appearance of being made from blood.

He grunted and followed Ignus to a bluff and strained his eyes to see their target gliding into view. She looked almost identical to his natural form, save that her features were so white it was sickening, and he knew from past expreience that she was about twenty feet longer than him. There was another key difference between them as well, one that he would make blatantly obvious should these fools not botch his plan horribly. He turnrd to the group of five Drakes of varying shades and builds normally, though all were identical at the moment, saying 'Remember, if you can catch her early you can take her, but she must survive this ordeal. Am I understood?' This was answered with a chorus of 'YES SIR!'

'Good, now everyone to their starting points, as soon as she flies overhead of the last of you, take off, and not a moment sooner!'

'Understood Sir!'

A flurry of activity followed as the ignorant fools got in place. He knew they stood no chance of doing more than giving her a workout, but that served his purpose well.

Annail heard wingbeats behind and below her, announcing the arrrival of almost a half-dozen intruders. 'Trying to mate me no doubt.' she thought bitterly, 'Well, if they want to behave like ferals about it, we'll use a feral's test...'

She slowed her wingbeats so she could strecth her wings and give them an opprotunity to close the gap. She counted her wingbeats, five, ten, fifteen, twenty, twenty-five, twenty eight, twenty-nine, and on her thirtieth she pushed hard, sending her literally flying upward at least twenty feet, where she faced up and continued to climb.

Pyer rubbed his temples, they hadn't even gotten close enough to smell her and she already had the fools tripping over themselves...He watched in disgust as three of the five collided in midair triyng to fly after the wench. 'This is going to be a long morning...'

The other two had just tangled thier wings together trying to fly too close to one another. He knew they stood no chance of doing much more than distracting her at this point, and not much of a chance at that.

'Time to end this...'

Annail was having fun by this point, simply toying with the male Drakes until, one by one they backed off. She was turning to fly off when she noticed the blood red wolf riding one of the bungling fools, who was returning to the fray. Oh, so that's their game? she thought, then projected telepathically, ++You know, I thought even you wouldn't stoop this low Pyer...++

++You will see just how low in a moment my prey.++ was the response, delivered quickly and, as usual, followed by a solid barrier being erected around his mind.

Annail tried to lengthen the distance between them, but was quickly cut off by one of Pyer's Drakes. She dove quickly, only to be once more blocked by a Drake. She tried climbing and met with more success, but she grew increasingly aware of the diminishing gap between her and Pyer's mount.

In a last-ditch effort she dove again and banked sharply to the left, but this time was cut off by draconic arms gripping her, and the feeling of her virginity being lost to her opposite...Life would soon change for her...
