#4 of Takomen: Background, Concepts, and Context

This submission describes the noteworthy people within the Great War. It will become apparent that the majority of my imaginative energies are directed towards the Kantarian storyline, and that my fursona has received a huge proportion of those energies. I just naturally ponder him and the Kantarian war effort more extensively.

Also, there is some discussion of sexuality here, including of hebephilia and the pederastic relationship my fursona has with a character. It doesn't warrant a higher rating since I do not describe anything in graphic detail, and I don't think anything but the hebephilic aspects would bother the average reader. If the pederastic aspects will bother you but you wish to read the document in general, skip the chapters on Lucien and Larien, particularly Lucien. The section on Roketsune touches on it briefly a couple of times, mostly in paragraph #2.Addendum 1, 24 Sept 2016 I added a paragraph in Roketsune's entry describing his vision for a unified Takomen as a result of the war and his lack of desire to impose harsh reparations on the defeated powers. I also added a line to convey he's very prideful but also very quick to critique himself and admit weakness.

Supreme Strategist Roketsune, Prancer-in-Chief of the Kantarian Military Organization

Before the start of the Revolution and the Great War, Roketsune was an internationally renowned fashion and erotica model. His level of comfort with dealing with audiences, his natural dominance and confidence, natural ability to act and perform in general, and his physical characteristics, all made him the most sought after and lusted-over of the many feminine male models of Takomen. Supreme Marshal Shorin in retrospect stated, "If someone told me before the Revolution that the savior of our nation would be someone who was renowned for little more than expertly inciting legions of Takomenians to lust and masturbation, I would have deemed the person intoxicated or naturally deranged. Roketsune, a master of strategy and motivator of the people during a time of war? No sane Kantarian would have predicted this.". Of course, he was indeed chosen as their Supreme Strategist, and they have gotten what any sane person would expect from appointing a flamboyant and shameless femboy to the position- and so much more. He is almost completely disinhibited, blithely remarking on his sexual habits and preferences as well as anything else which comes to mind whether he is in his office with his inner circle or addressing the Kantarian populace. Combined with his extremely high intelligence, his tendency to be both highly emotional and rational, and his previously hidden talents at overseeing industry and field armies alike, he is extremely adept at his extremely unlikely role and almost worshiped by the Kantarians. While he is not infallible, when he orders the people or the soldiers to do something dangerous or harmful, they all trust he has decided that only after great contemplation, and that he will be the first to tell them if the order was erroneous.

As I have explained in the submission on culture and society, the Takomenians are extremely advanced in the field of medical technology. Aging and death from diseases are no longer problems for their societies, and people choose an age to resemble if they have a preference besides that of early adulthood. Thus, Roketsune appears 15 (and sometimes behaves that way as well) despite being older. I don't have a clear vision on what this version's actual age is (the Schoolboi version actually is 15), though I imagine him being probably in his 20's or maybe 30's, born after the advent of biological immortality and the occupation of Kantaria. The two versions of my fursona are identical in physical and aesthetical traits, basic psychological and mental traits, and career choice. So, for a decade or two before the Revolution, Strategist Roketsune was a fashion and erotic model who was so widely admired and followed he was a household name. As he set his apparent age to 15 and the models he tended to play with on camera were or appeared to be 11-16, he very much catered to the hebephilic and ephebophilic demographics. The average patron would not perceive his extremely high intelligence or his comparatively intellectual interests, though his more devoted followers might.

Roketsune is highly inquisitive, adaptive, and bright. Even by Takomenian standards, he is brilliant and eager to acquire knowledge. Of course, he likes military strategy games and military history because his creator does. Rather unlike me IRL, he was utterly fascinated by modern industry and its various aspects and processes. He wanted to know how the things he sticks in orifices are made, and how the raw materials they use to make the things he sticks in orifices are made. He wanted to know more about the process of transporting supplies to and finished goods from the factories, and how those things are warehoused, and how they're dispensed after that. He also was curious about economic concepts, especially since he had a lot of money. He wanted to understand the general subject and not do anything stupid with it and not be confused when economists spoke of this and that. Since he didn't need to learn a craft or obtain a prerequisite diploma for some career because he could literally be a heartthrob teenage girlyboi model forever, he chose university courses solely according to what interested him. He was thus schooled in the various strategic aspects of warfare and mobilization merely because he was curious about these things.

Another asset my fursona has which is generally useful is a very high oratorical capability. IRL I struggle to articulate things verbally and tend to incur elevated body temperature from speaking, but my beloved fursona can verbally communicate things effortlessly and virtually as well as he can textually. He can contemplate and respond to things he's never encountered before quite rapidly, he is highly adept at improvisation, and can recite speeches and other intended ideas from memory. Obviously this makes him more appealing as a model and erotic actor, and also is invaluable at acting in general (recently he made a series of Downfall-inspired parodies of the Terran Downfall parodies and himself, dragging various staff away from their jobs to complete them). His verbal acuity is most impactful on his charisma in the Supreme Strategist role, as he can naturally and adeptly speak to the Kantarians at press conferences, or the Strategic Council during their sessions, or Kantaria's Parliament, or to the common soldier personally.

Roketsune somehow learned of the very secretive preparations for revolution, and decided after sufficient contemplation he wanted to attempt to better his people by getting involved. As a super-popular model, he had a very safe and affluent lifestyle which he could have happily continued enjoying, and neither Bengarian nor Kantarian forces would have caused him problems in the event of them taking over the area in which he resided. He had everything to lose and nothing personally to gain or protect by supporting the Revolution. He decided to do it anyway, and this is one reason the people trust and revere him so greatly. I have this general vision of Roketsune at some point meeting one of the original founding members of the Revolution, Shorin (he has his own section here further down), and Shorin is absolutely astonished the most famous prancer (a flamboyant and effeminate male, especially of the cheerful and shameless variety; analogous to 'femboy') of all of Takomen wanted in on this. He tells Roketsune more or less, "You wish to be a morale officer? I'm sure you'll make a lot of people very happy with your performances during these uncertain and violent times.", and then is further astonished when he wants to be involved in army leadership and/or industrial/supply affairs and relays to Shorin his substantial knowledge of tactics and manufacturing. Around the time the Revolution begins its active phase, he's given oversight of various factories and associated logistical processes, though he also sometimes performs for the factory workers and insurgents. In fact, these performances help him maintain cover: he's merely gladdening and arousing the workers for these companies, as far as any outsiders can tell. Who would think this adolescent-appearing erotic fashion model would be complicit in martial affairs? He only dresses up, poses, yiffs, and masturbates for a rather luxurious living!

As the Revolution rages during the spring and summer of 2012, actual front lines are formed, and the capital of Mirukan falls to the Kantarians. The danger of Bengarian police or military units arresting high-profile leaders such as Roketsune vanishes since much of the heartland is now under their control (I can imagine some awkward conversations amongst the Bengarian senior staff once they realize Roketsune is actually an officer; they would rather not incarcerate someone who is so sympathetic and to whom so many of them have gotten off). His involvement in the Revolution is now obvious and undeniable, and he's garnered tremendous respect within the Kantarian Revolutionary circles for both his organizational talents and his charisma. At some point a section of the Kantarian front lines is severely threatened, and a shortage of competent and trained officers causes Shorin to appoint Roketsune as the marshal of one or two armies there to stabilize that segment of the front. He proves himself in this aspect of warfare as well, his series of reforms and maneuvers causing that section of the lines to stabilize and then move forward again. In the roles of both tactical marshal and supply/industrial, he demonstrates a remarkable ability to motivate personnel and harmonize the echelon of officers directly underneath him. He also works extraordinarily well with other armies and departments, showing genuine empathy for them and cognizance of their needs.

The Revolutionary forces continue to push back the Bengarians into the autumn of 2012, prompting them to employ a mass usage of atomic weapons to resolve the problem. Approximately a third of the Kantarian military is killed or disabled, including many junior and intermediate officers- many of whom Roketsune had come to know and regularly dealt with as colleagues. It is the worst time in Kantaria's recent history, and Roketsune is severely affected emotionally, though he manages to continue performing his duties and even took over a few others to most rapidly restore order. His immediate colleagues sense he's very weakened and distraught, and they help prop him up and encourage him for the next few days. Very soon after the tragedy, the consensus is they need more streamlined leadership to maximize their chance of victory which was just now badly reduced, someone who would ordinarily issue commands and edicts on matters of industry and tactics and strategy, but who would still be accountable to the conclave of strategic-level officers. The qualities and attributes Roketsune has demonstrated during his time in the nascent KMO convince a majority of them he would overall have the most positive impact on the military in that role. The heightened emotional vulnerability he demonstrates in the aftermath of the slaughter cause many to disagree with this, but over 50% vote in favor of appointing him to this role on 21 November. Roketsune's immediate reaction is one of great bemusement because there are those with more military experience and he's been obviously unwell. Of course, after the shock wears off, he accepts the recommendation.

As the supreme leader of the Kantarian war effort now, he is the face of the war effort, the person who is designated to speak to the Kantarians in general on various matters. He must therefore immediately address Kantaria and the world on the implications of this atomic debacle. Bolstering Kantaria's chances of success and Roketsune's spirits is the declaration of war by Likuria in response, and their fleets of warplanes covering them and dueling with the enemy overhead. However, the situation is still quite severe, especially if Wesitaria decides to attack. Roketsune puts his natural proficiency in verbal and physical communication to work on the task of relaying various realities and exhortations. The overall tone of his address is anguished, urgent, dire, yet also hopeful, and the address was one of the most commonly remembered moments of the war. Supreme Strategist Cometai recalled that he and a couple of his aides were driven to tears watching and listening to him struggle to speak without sobbing, and the event bolstered their resolve to see the war through to the bitter end. Some senior Bengarian officers when speaking of the period said his address was so moving it greatly amplified remorse they felt, the feeling being described as if they not only sinned against the Kantarian people but committed the outrageous act of upsetting the vulnerable and adorable Roketsune. The Kantarians were galvanized and uplifted by his press conference, as they were told there was still substantial reason to be hopeful of success while he personified the upset and indignation they experienced from this and the occupation before. Alas, it did not deter the Wesitarians from declaring was 4 days later, and thus he would oversee a military for years with the goal of absolute victory rather than merely a return to the historical borders.

Roketsune possesses a strange combination of psychological traits. He is a very logical and deliberative person, yet also emotionally highly reactive. He absolutely deplores warfare and is quickly overcome with sadness when he contemplates deeply the effects the war has on his planet, yet he usually can remain sufficiently detached as Supreme Strategist and is ordinarily an effervescent and energetic person. He is easily upset or driven to tears, but rebounds very quickly. He is extremely approachable and kindhearted towards his personnel ordinarily, but can become frighteningly vicious towards those he deems incompetent or immoral (God help someone if they're both). He is magnanimous towards even the average Bengarian and wishes to minimize the harm the war will bring to them, yet is borderline genocidal when the other party is Terran. He's extraordinarily self-confident and self-admiring, yet also very readily perceives and admits his weaknesses and errors. I don't feel he would be complete or idealized if there was not that series of dualities. Of course, he shares some of those dual tendencies with me IRL.

He comes across as extremely sympathetic and empathetic to the average soldier and citizen because he is, and he has zero difficulty in conveying any sort of feeling or emotion to others. The suffering incurred by the common units and the workforce causes him in turn to suffer. When he publicly discusses such things as defeats, burdening of the workforce, and suffering incurred by units, he very often genuinely chokes up or even weeps. It really bothers him that people are asked to do the things which are necessary to win wars, especially when he's their ultimate commanding officer. There have been a few instances of his military suffering disastrous defeats after carrying out his battle plans, and he has never taken it well. He realizes the war must be waged, that he is the best suited for his position, and that those plans were the best he and the senior echelon could do at the time. Thus, he doesn't ever experience genuine remorse or self-hatred. However, at those moments, and when he speaks on such matters, he's overcome by frustration and sadness. He doesn't experience those emotions constantly and he's not miserable, but he is not at all cheerful when he cannot maintain sufficient detachment from the negative consequences of warfare. He also is utterly incapable of attending memorials for the same general reason. Because he's so emotionally reactive to the human/furry costs of war, he engenders an extremely high degree of trust and loyalty within his troops.

As I alluded to earlier, he has conflicting pairs of tendencies and traits. In stark contrast to the great compassion he feels for Takomenians as a whole and particularly his forces, he is extremely vitriolic and coldhearted towards the average Terran. His animosity towards Terrans, combined with his natural disinhibition and comfort with public speaking, have produced legendarily venomous tirades against them when at the podium and the topic is raised. He honestly could not care less if they all obliterate each other or half of them starve to death or any of the other terrible fates. He just wants them to stay out of his country's and planet's way since they can't make them behave like rational and enlightened people. My fursona mirrors my RL misanthropy. To be blunt, I really despise the average person and homo sapiens as a whole. They're generally the cause of their own problems, and will happily continue to wallow in their own crap and at best refuse to embrace progress at a rate faster than glacial. I feel like I am dealing with children when I have to interact with the average person, particularly if they have power over me. I really don't have compassion for humanity at this point beyond the reflexive empathetic/sympathetic response I have when witnessing suffering or sadness. I believe if Takomenians existed, I would have the exact same phenomenon IRL as Roketsune does: great sympathy for one planet, callous disregard and scorn for the other. If I was able to move to Takomen and the few friends I have now also moved to there, and the USA and Russia destroyed Terra in a nuclear apocalypse, I probably would laugh derisively. I'd be highly motivated to assist Kantarian/Likurian society and the war effort, of course. My fursona is happy where he is and has great power, so I suppose these storylines are a coping mechanism of sorts.

I want to expound his sentiments towards his fellow Takomenians since this is a major plot element. He is not only a brilliant and charismatic strategist, but he will be the instrument of peace and unity if the war concludes with absolute victory for his alliance. He reviles Terrans in general, but he's highly rational and compassionate towards even the enemy nations and their general populations. He sees his enemies- excepting their regimes- as morally and culturally his nation's equals and peers, as people who are misled rather than bad. The Likurians harbor a great deal of indignation over the whole being invaded thing, and the Kantarians are especially miffed with the Bengarians over their lengthy series of misdeeds. Within Kantaria, an especially high number of common people, military personnel, and politicians will demand very heavy reparations from the nations they aspire to force into utter capitulation. Roketsune not only lacks this desire, but knows it would be extremely counterproductive. He has studied Terran military history both as an average Kantarian and as a university student, including such subjects as the Treaty of Versailles and its contribution to the popularity of the Nazis and Hitler and what they espoused- and ultimately to World War 2. He easily contemplates the war on the grand strategic level, and thus he sees the war as an opportunity to unify the planet under some sort of world government comprised of four societies in harmony with one another. If they were highly punitive with their enemies and impoverished them, this would severely undermine or outright prevent such an evolution, possibly worse. I imagine even some of his own people will be upset with him for rejecting any sort of substantial reparative conditions, but he will unflinchingly stand in the way of this. This rational benevolence will also ensure the war will end somewhat sooner than it would otherwise.

The prancer model stereotype definitely is apparent in his general demeanor, behavior, and leadership style. He will generally respond to the average soldier or sailor seeking to speak with him with a genuinely interested, "What's on your mind, dear?" or something similar. While he does generally wear a military uniform while on duty, it is an especially colorful and aristocratic one that he designed for his new rank, the torso article being a tunic and thus serving as a circle skirt below the hips. He often has with him his beloved raccoon plushie Kaleusthes, and his personal offices and quarters reflect the preferences the average amorous schoolgirl might have. Unless there is something immediately weighing on him or upsetting him, he's usually quite cheerful and flirtatious. He openly and shamelessly has a voracious sexual appetite, quite often having liaisons with subordinates who strike his fancy, and engages in various other carnal antics such as speaking about the size of his or his mate's genitals in ordinary conversations and even at press conferences if the mood strikes him. Of course, he doesn't try to conceal his various feminine/gay mannerisms while on duty because he has no reason to: prancers even serve in the infantry with no objection from anyone (I imagine they're quite favored by their predominately male comrades for stress relief yiffery, anyway). Actually, he STILL does erotic and non-erotic modeling, as his society doesn't find it wrong or unseemly for him to be engaged in both careers if the military one has primacy, though it is really weird and bizarre. He's in every conceivable way just as much of a flaming prancer/femboy now as he was before, which adds substantially to his charisma.

His overall management style and demeanor could be characterized as sufficiently involved, moderate, and extremely informal. He will often personally inspect fortifications and other works, confer with officers of all ranks when touring an area, and visit battered divisions and armies to speak to the soldiers and officers. He injects himself into a place or situation when the need arises, but generally does not micromanage or effectively take over someone else's job. He has on a couple of occasions personally overseen a front during an offensive, but usually is content to monitor developments from afar and allow his senior subordinates to carry out his orders without obstruction. He usually very much trusts the subordinates he has chosen, and if there is a conflict between their recommendations and his or the council's orders and plans, he will often defer partially or fully to the former. He even gave a high-level position to a feisty vixen who has repeatedly threatened insubordination if her superiors decide to issue orders she deems stupid, because he values competent officers who will defy orders in lieu of needlessly getting their own troops killed. Overall, his outward professionalism beyond the aforementioned things is non-existent. He doesn't care if people don't use his rank when addressing him, often brings his cub Lucien with him when he carries out his duties, plays humorous videos on the main screen of the bridge of their flagship when they're not in combat, discusses all manner of irrelevant things at press conferences when incited, and a myriad of other examples. Lax doesn't begin to characterize his professional demeanor, beyond the critical functions he does so well. This does generate some disgruntlement from the more rigid officers, but the latitude he tries to give the average officer and his ability to maintain harmony cause the approval to greatly outweigh such disapproval.

Roketsune is a very idealized and wishful reflection of me IRL, a sort of spiritual extension or manifestation of me if that makes any sense. Of course, if I could bring him into being, I would not have him born into a world that would soon enter a global conflict: it would be more akin to the very carefree cub erotica world his Schoolboi variant resides in. As I am inherently a tactician and strategist in spirit and thought, I had to have at least one version of my fursona play this role, and consequently this is the one that receives the vast majority of my energy naturally. He is superior to me in every conceivable way. All of the strengths I have, he has them to a greater degree. He does not possess any of the weaknesses I do, and in fact he tends to be very gifted in areas I am weak in. He's of course way, way prettier and more sexually fulfilled than I am and will ever be.

Lucien, Preteen Prancer and Mate to Roketsune

Roketsune the Strategist, due to various factors, mirrors my RL orientation to a greater extent than the Schoolboi one. As I am a hebephile IRL and wish we lived in a world that is sane on matters of sexuality, that orientation and my ideology on the general matter are reflected in my military storyline in the form of Lucien and the relationship between him and Roketsune. Their relationship is the only one I have contemplated much beyond masturbation fantasizing. There is a fair amount of depth to this partnership, though it's largely defined by sexual humor and expression (I naturally gravitate towards sexual humor in general). This is one of the major causes of the storyline in the Takomenian Great War being very radioactive and objectionable, most assuredly. It's not a topic that is well received in general, especially when I attach my RL orientation and ideology to it, even worse when the cub is also an erotic performer. I did warn people in the Description field, so I regret nothing about writing this.

Anyway! Lucien started out as a running joke I had envisioned between Roketsune and the cranky Larien. Larien is consistently given so much to do as the commander of the home base of the Kantarian fleet, and he would often complain that his son being the yiff partner to his superior hasn't brought him any benefits at all. In fact, he seems to be saddled with even more since that arrangement started! Eventually, specific details about this male child came to mind. Once I had an epiphany on the matter of aging and could thus have Roketsune appear 15 regardless of how old he actually was rather than explain it as a miracle or him being divine, there was no impediment at all to the notion of Roketsune being hebephilic and a well-known pederast. Of course, he needed a full-blown mate rather than only have a series of liaisons. Lucien would serve that role and would allow me to convey certain beliefs and ideal states merely by writing about their relationship. Relatively recently, I deemed that Lucien should also be a model, after I wrote in such desires on his part rather whimsically on a couple of occasions. Of course, that meant Roketsune was Lucien's mentor in that endeavor as well, as seen in this erotic story.

Lucien is a 12-year-old prancer/femboy river otter. Lucien's appearance and build (tame and erotic textual references) mirror my RL preferences and thus my fursona's preferences: long-haired, feminine, and toned peripubescent male cubs and children. His hair is shorter, he is shorter in general, and he is not quite as well endowed, but otherwise very much takes after Roketsune. He tends to wear the same sorts of outfits Roketsune does: revealing and highly colorful feminine attire. Though he has always been feminine and preferred feminine things, these tendencies have been amplified since meeting and befriending Roketsune. He is highly intelligent and mature for his age (traits I find psychologically and potentially sexually attractive), though he's also very excitable and easily distracted. His personality overall is inquisitive, cheerful, sensitive, meek/submissive, and somewhat introverted. With Roketsune he tends to be very extroverted, affectionate, outgoing, and dominant.

Lucien highly admires Roketsune and is enthralled by his various achievements and exploits as Supreme Strategist, especially as the de facto grand admiral whenever he is on the flagship during naval engagements. Lucien is only 12 and thus he is markedly more immature than Roketsune, but his admiration and veneration are very real and very intense. He learns all he can about Roketsune's exploits and fleet operations, and has gone to great lengths to watch his great hero in action on the bridge of the flagship- including sneaking aboard one time. Because of both his and Roketsune's preference to be aboard the flagship during battle, it's now a running joke in the Kantarian military that prancers like playing admiral. Lucien's romantic interest in Roketsune has a very strong hero worship component, while Roketsune has a more mature but very intense appreciation for Lucien's capabilities, general potential, integrity, and intellect.

Lucien has decided to emulate Roketsune by becoming a model as well, and this is something Roketsune has intensively fostered and facilitated after Lucien expressed an interest in that and Roketsune deemed him naturally highly talented at this endeavor. After some coaching and advisement, and a series of practice runs, Lucien made his debut as an erotic model not long ago. Largely because of his relationship with Roketsune, he was highly sought after from the start. His projected income quickly exceeded his father's despite the latter working much harder and serving a highly critical role in Kantaria's war effort, a development the father was not thrilled with since it ought to be the other way around. Despite all marshals receiving a 50% pay raise following Larien's complaint, his 12-year-old model child is on track to earn more than him for the year, and of course none of it will be taxed since he has a cubhood exemption (though Larien is also tax-exempt due to his role and employer). All of this has massively reinforced Lucien's pre-existing inherent preference for girly attire, and he now has a very expansive and expensive wardrobe which almost rivals his mentor's. He has also elected to set his apparent age to 12, so that he'll always at least aesthetically be the bashful pubescent otterboi so many perverts have become enamored with.

Lucien is very much like Roketsune in another way: he's both extremely pretty and highly intelligent. Since he's 12 his level of discipline and insight are well below those of Roketsune and adults in general, but he does have a very high raw level of intelligence and emotional maturity for his age. Roketsune and Lucien's parents allow him to do typical cub stuff like gaming, eating junk food, and copulating, but they also actively encourage his scholastic and general development. Roketsune sometimes has had to coax Lucien into reading texts and treatises which he originally found uninteresting with the promise of a gift or sexual favor if he complied. He has also impressed upon him many times that war is not glamorous and is incredibly destructive, and they do not feel its full effects because of their affluence, popularity, and Roketsune's position. Lucien understands that killing in general is bad and many of his fellow countrypeople have miserable jobs because of the war, and he was highly frightened the one time he was forced into Marietta's subterranean defenses during an abrupt and very intense enemy bombardment. However, he doesn't fully understand on fundamental and strategic levels just how bad war is, though that will improve with time, and he will be guided in the right directions and saved needless heartache and waste in the meantime. This education and facilitation of development is a core component and expectation of Takomenian pederasty, and an adult would be considered dishonorable and loathsome to dispense with it in favor of pure sexual gratification.

Their relationship with regards to power and control is equal despite such a relationship being intrinsically unequal in many regards. Financially, experientially, emotionally, and physically, the adult usually is far ahead of the cub/child, and the relationship between these two is no exception. Roketsune mitigates these disparities by often deferring to Lucien and treating him as not only a lover but also a student. He also fostered assertiveness within Lucien so he would be less inclined to hide his aversion or disapproval of something regardless of who the other person was. The educational system also teaches children core concepts on sexual relationships and emotional wellness, and Lucien would have had that regardless. Roketsune exerts himself to ensure Lucien's various needs are met and his rights as a partner in an equal relationship are protected. And, obviously, they're great in bed together.

Intermediate Marshal Larien, the Irascible and Overworked Mender of Kantaria's Fleets

It is highly difficult for an outside observer watching them converse to accurately determine when Larien is actually angry and when he's just feigning it to amuse himself and his interlocutor Roketsune. Their conversations are frequently adversarial and acrimonious in nature on the surface, though in reality the hostility is being feigned. Larien usually does have a legitimate complaint underneath all the faux indignation and bluster whenever he does have a conversation with his superior, and he has had a series of valid complaints about this and that over the years. He is given a colossal and ceaseless series of repair and construction tasks, and often doesn't receive the materials and personnel he needs to carry those tasks out on schedule. Occasionally he's been told to do more than he's capable of and then told to also repair damage that Roketsune has recklessly caused the flagship to incur, and that never pleases him.

I had these visions years ago of Roketsune and the commander of the primary naval base of Marietta having these absurd arguments on the bridge, the two of them making idiotic and offensive remarks to each other before the base commander brings up a serious matter to be resolved. Occasionally he would be legitimately and actually pissed off with Roketsune personally. I had this humorous idea I wished to have sketched in 2014: The Procyonidae in the background is docked and is still on fire, and a couple of panicked dockworkers are running around in confusion. In the foreground, Larien is snarling lividly at a visibly embarrassed and meek Roketsune, furious that he collided with an atomic mine of their own design and incurred very severe damage as a result, and just having been told he needs to repair that damage overnight along with everything else he's been tasked with. Maybe I'll have it done someday... Perhaps because he was a naval base commander and otters are aquatic, I saw him as a river otter, thus determining both his species and Lucien's.

I don't have a huge amount of background information on him, but I have some. Larien is one of the many Kantarians in the Interwar years who has formal training in maritime functions. He was formally schooled in Level 2 naval architecture (don't ask me what that means, exactly), and then put through a sort of super-rapid officer academy training course after the Revolution started. He wanted his people to do better than they were and he wanted Lucien to have a better life than he was on track for with the antebellum status quo. Due to his schooling, he is a competent commander in the art of repairing ships and making recommendations for internal repairs. As a commander, he tends to be diligent, appropriately watchful, and kind to the average sailor and worker unless they're imbeciles. As a father, he's highly compassionate and libertine- perhaps to a fault. As is the case with the average Takomenian, he sees nothing wrong with his son preferring feminine clothes and mannerisms or being bisexual, and was happy his superior took over and fostered those areas of his life because prancer fashion and toys are expensive! He and Roketsune consider each other close friends, and his wife also adores Roketsune and is very happy with the positive influence he exerts on Lucien.

Supreme Marshal Kepler, Kantaria's Chief Marine

Kepler's origins are really strange. I was playing one of the innumerable songs from the Touhou game. The name 'Kepler' came to mind strongly. I simultaneously envisioned streaks in the sky from large-caliber railgun shells above marines who were marching in some direction. I felt compelled to use that name in that general realm after that. I understand this is bizarre, but I have intense and idiosyncratic reactions to music. The song itself and whatever other factors were at play caused those images and ideas to be generated. I'm listening to another Touhou song as I write this. I'm periodically looking at an utterly irrelevant furry femboy picture while listening to this song, I suppose because it adds additional stimulation (not that kind, you furvert). I suspect these reactions and tendencies are primarily autistic rather than normal.

Anyway... Kepler was a highly respected combat veteran of the Revolutionary Period before being promoted, perhaps a veteran of the previous Kantarian military as well. He is well known for emotionally being rather indifferent to being shot at, a trait which I imagine is invaluable for a frontline officer to have but is not in great abundance. While he garnered a great deal of respect during the time between the start of the Revolution and the start of the Great War, he was catapulted to fame after leading a successful amphibious raid on 1 December with the bulk of Kantaria's embryonic Maritime Assault Corps, a victory their alliance was in dire need of psychologically. He was subsequently promoted to lead the MAC during rapid strengthening of it and the other branches of the Kantarian military. Obviously, an officer with a rank equivalent to our 4-star level cannot be allowed to be in combat, and thus ended his direct combat career.

I have pictured him as a masculine wolf with a rather gruff or gravelly voice, the kind of voice I would expect Chesty Puller to have. As one might expect from a marine, he tends to be conceited and feels his marines are capable of virtually anything. He's kindhearted and gentle with his troops, especially those who are casualties. He can attend memorials and visit hideously mangled soldiers without substantial discomfort, making him the polar opposite of his superior Roketsune. He's also at the other end of the gender spectrum relative to him, though that has zero impact on their compatibility. During a few of the pivotal landings since being promoted, he has wanted to land with the first wave or tour the front lines to improve their chance of victory, ideas Roketsune has vehemently rejected since he's not keen on losing any more colleagues. As is the case with Larien, Kepler and Roketsune have had numerous humorous exchanges. Kepler extracted the compromise of him visiting areas relatively close to the front but well away from the frontline combat. Roketsune reiterated over video he was to go no further as he set sail towards the beaches, causing Kepler to respond with essentially, "Yes, Mother. Or is it Father? I don't really know with you."

Supreme Marshal Shorin, Commander of the Planes and Howitzers

He was the lead military officer of the Revolution before and after it turned hot, and the one to interview Roketsune when he offered to assist. When the time came to choose a Supreme Strategist for Kantaria, he voted for Roketsune rather than himself since he saw himself as less effective at that role overall. He was soon appointed the leader of the Aeronautics and Bombardment Command, the branch of the military that oversees the ground-based aerial forces, and the majority of the ground-based missile batteries and artillery. He performs the tasks of overseeing, supplying, and directing the nation's aeronautical and bombardment assets with great competency, making every plane, cannon, and shell count for substantially more. I picture him as a white-furred fox (I'd say arctic fox, but I don't know how in blazes they would survive summers without having to be shaved bald), and having a rather quiet, professional, and patient type of personality.

The thing I have contemplated and envisioned the most frequently is the initial encounter between him and Roketsune. I imagine at the time he had the most experience at martial affairs and was sort of the leader of the Revolution. Obviously, the average aspiring volunteer would not meet with him at all, but Roketsune was exceptional and I'm sure they were very happy to have him serve. Shorin expected him to be providing monetary assistance and maybe serve as an entertainer or oversee morale services at most. Shorin was stunned to hear of his knowledge of the other aspects of war and his desire to serve in those capacities instead. He needed more logistical/organizational/industrial officers than tactical officers or regular recruits at the time, so he sent him off to oversee factory output and related functions. Shorin does have actual military experience rather than merely being familiar with military history and theories and having won a bunch of strategy games, and thus he was a sort of mentor to Roketsune during the first year or so. He finds the appointment to their highest military rank of an erotic fashion model who was known for only that less than a year before, to be delightfully surreal.

Deputy Supreme Strategist Perredine, Marvelous Counterpart to Roketsune

Perredine is generally the second in command of the Kantarian military, and the first if Roketsune is away or otherwise unavailable when a decision is needed quickly. They have an absolutely splendid working relationship and complement each other very well. While both are gregarious and personable, Perredine is far more resilient emotionally and thus can perform functions Roketsune is ill suited for. He also is seemingly always available to temporarily take over if Roketsune needs to slumber, regain his composure, or attend to some piece of business which will preoccupy him. He also shamelessly laughs hysterically beside his superior during press conferences when the latter goes off on one of his legendary tangents. Their relationship is one of the examples used when people speak about the extraordinary quality and peculiarity of the Kantarian military leadership.

Perredine is an immigrant from America of African descent. He was a rather high-ranking officer in the U.S. Army, and thus had a high degree of schooling and training in tactics and strategy. Dissatisfied utterly with his nation and planet, and drawn not only to Takomenian culture but also to the Kantarian Revolution, he wanted to emigrate and to place his training and various attributes in the service of the Kantarians. He was accepted as a volunteer for military service by Likuria and then sent to Kantaria. He distinguished himself as a highly attentive and capable officer, and rapidly rose in the ranks. He eventually made the acquaintance of Roketsune, and the two of them very quickly gravitated towards each other due to their consonant personalities and very high intelligence. Perredine's intellect, cunning, strategic and tactical capabilities, ability to contend with damn near anything with hardly any change in his jovial personality and demeanor, and commitment to Kantaria and its revolution which he demonstrated by renouncing his American citizenship and leaving the planet, collectively made him an extremely desirable candidate for Deputy Supreme Strategist in the eyes of the highly perceptive Roketsune. Perredine was also a critical emotional support to the mournful and fearful Roketsune during the dark days immediately before and after the war becoming global.

Perredine is capricious and easily amused just as Roketsune is, though those traits are manifested somewhat differently. Both laugh at a high volume, but Perredine's deep and manly laughter reverberates throughout the room and drowns out Roketsune's comparatively feminine and soft youthful variety. Roketsune tends to be more spectacular and engage in antics of various sorts, while Perredine tends to be highly amused by Roketsune's antics and more quietly ignores normalcy and stupid things like professionalism. He actually gave Roketsune's mate Lucien a bunch of classified fleet reports and warship specifications for him to read without even telling Roketsune, which in a way makes him even more blithe and cavalier than his notorious superior. Perredine always has a very warm, serene, and affable demeanor, even when there is cause for great stress and fear. He has a reassuring effect on everyone around him. His strategic capabilities and insight are not far from Roketsune's. For all of these reasons, the beneficial effect he has had on Kantaria's wartime fortunes is incalculably great.

Supreme Strategist Cometai, Likuria's Military Leader

I honestly have not envisioned very much on him. I have placed him in the storyline of a few diary entries, and I have spoken of him here once or twice. However, I just don't have a clear vision of him or an extensive background to present. What I have to say might fit in one paragraph. Anyway, he has been the leader of the Likurian military since before the Kantarian Revolution, which I suppose makes him one of the architects of the Revolution. I've always imagined him as being human or maybe something else (yes, I know how silly that sounds, hehe), and having a relatively normal and "professional" personality and demeanor in contrast with Roketsune's zaniness and disregard for normalcy. He and the Likurians in general are definitely more cautious than the Kantarians and Roketsune, and this has caused friction on numerous occasions. That being said, Cometai and the other strategic officers have been quite accommodating of Kantaria's needs and plans in recent times, and might participate in another grand campaign or two before the end of the year.

Supreme Strategist Taneru, Adversary to Roketsune and Maybe Also Friend

They have an especially strange relationship one regard. Despite being arch adversaries, a strong rapport exists between them. They actually genuinely care for each other and sometimes commiserate about the harm the conflict is doing to the Takomenians in general. A couple of times they have had conversations just before a major fleet battle. Roketsune one time gleefully relayed the video of a rainbow-shitting unicorn to her and her flagship just before they commenced battle. I can easily see them exchanging gifts for their birthdays or some other special events. While a core component of the Kantarian Grand Strategy is the execution of all in the civilian and military high leadership who caused or orchestrated wars of imperialism, and Taneru definitely would fall into that category, Roketsune would never permit such a sentence to be handed down. Likewise, if Taneru had the chance to take out Roketsune and very severely wound the opposing alliance in the process, she would never give the order. The nature of their relationship is a consequence of the cultural homogeneity of the planet in general, which makes the war even more tragic in a way. Roketsune has no doubt that whether Wesitaria signs a treaty or their regime is forcefully destroyed in total capitulation, Taneru will be instrumental in restoring the country and fostering renormalization of relations and goodwill between the two nations.

I don't actually remember when or how I envisioned her or dialogues between her and my fursona. I have always intended for the Great War to be highly idealized, and that would include the two chief adversaries being chivalrous and having a rapport. Taneru is also an excellent dramatic and humorous plot device. I didn't realize it at the time, but the aesthetical image I had of her mirrored my main EVE Online character back when I played online games during a far simpler period of my life. I have always envisioned Taneru as a female human who was stoic yet personable, highly talented at her job, and professional/normal while at the same time being appreciative of personalities and tendencies such as Roketsune's. She tends to speak softly and in a courteous but frank manner. She's someone who tends to smile quietly to people and in appropriate situations, and is generally level-headed and quietly pensive while she deliberates on a course of action. She would appropriately be characterized as kindhearted and somewhat introverted. Most of her traits and mannerisms are the exact opposite of her rival, yet the two greatly respect and admire each other.

Taneru and Roketsune have caused one another colossal amounts of frustration over the course of the war, as they're both about as proficient at strategy, and Kantaria's military is roughly as strong as Bengaria's and the Wesitarian expeditionary force combined. After observing the Kantarian military in action, she implemented a highly counteroffensive doctrine and caused a great amount of havoc and destruction as a result until Kantaria made adjustments to its doctrine and expectations for units. As a result of these successes, the Wesitarians were able to entrench and consolidate on the Western Front and Bengaria was saved from being overrun, and Bengaria consented to having her control the Bengarian armies which were within and near the Wesitarian zone of control. Since then, seldom has one side been able to make much progress against the other in a short period of time, and often when one succeeds the other manages to mitigate the victory somehow or recover unexpectedly rapidly. Many times, both militaries and adversaries have fought each other to a standstill. Despite the slaughters and the expenditures of resources both of their nations have incurred trying to overpower each other, neither strategist holds it against the other.
