#1 of Forest Wolf, Mountain Wolf - Minx & Ramos

The mountain path was dangerous, but Minx was determined. She didn't realize she'd find more than just help along the way.

The big red furred shewolf picked her way carefully among the rocks as she made her way up a mountain path. Squinting against the sunlight, she frowned slightly as she looked up at the intimidating rock face, but her expression hardened in determination and she pushed on.

The entire day had nearly passed, but the shewolf didn't feel as if she'd made much progress at all. She stood uncertainly at the junction of two paths, and peered up one before turning to look up the other. Shifting her paws, she was debating internally when the amused question came out of nowhere.

"What's a forest wolf doing on my mountain?"

The red shewolf spun around, bristling in warning, and searched the rocks with her eyes, starting to bear her teeth, "Who's there? Show yourself!"

Laughter replied, and the shewolf suddenly spotted the questioner. A stocky grey brute wolf was lying on a boulder nearby - she had never known he was there, his fur blended so well with the mountain, and she only now noticed the amusement gleaming in his emerald eyes. Turning to face the stranger, she pinned her ears, "Who are you?"

The young male looked unconcerned and licked one paw before answering casually, "I'm Ramos, and this is my mountain. What's your name, forest wolf?"

The shewolf huffed, hackles raising in annoyance, "My name is Minx, and who said I was a forest wolf?"

Ramos flicked his tail back and forth in amusement, gazing at Minx, then he stood up. The grey wolf was short and stocky, his fur thick as a bear's, but his movement as he leapt down gracefully from the rock and approached Minx spoke of power and certainty. He stopped a few pawsteps away from Minx and tilted his muzzle.

"Long legs and a pelt as thin as a goat's! Of course you're a forest wolf, and forest wolves do not belong on the mountainside," his expression darkened and he frowned at her, "It's dangerous here. Go home."

Minx scowled at the brute, tail flicking in anger, "I need to cross this mountain. Are you trying to stop me?"

Ramos' eyes stretched wide in astonishment and he grinned, "Stop you? No, that's not really my style. It's your neck, forest wolf. But why do you need to cross the mountain so badly? Especially in the cold season."

Minx glared at the brute, tempted to refuse to answer him, but she found herself speaking anyway, "I heard that my mother has started a new pack in a valley across these mountains. I was going to join her."

Ramos tilted his muzzle in interest, listening to her, then he waved his tail, "Well then I'll come with you and show you the way."

Minx stepped back, appalled, "What? No! I don't need any help."

Ramos just shrugged, "Right. Come on, if you're heading to the valley I think you are, then we need to take this path." He picked his way effortlessly up the right path, tail swishing contently against his hocks. Minx stared after him, jaw agape, then shut it with a snap and scrambled after him. If the fluff brained mountain wolf wanted to guide her, so be it.

As the days drug by in the unforgiving mountain range, Minx came to be incredibly grateful for the male's help. He knew how to hunt in the rocky landscape, and though they often went hungry, they did not starve. Ramos knew where it was safe to shelter as well, and Minx had to admit that she probably would have frozen to death without him. Almost a moon into their journey, they shared a small cave and a large goat, the first found by Minx, who had begun to learn a great deal, and the second pulled down in a skilled hunt by Ramos.

After they ate, the two lay near each other companionably, but when Ramos reached out to nose Minx, the shewolf pulled away, pinning her ears threateningly. Ramos jerked away, looking hurt and a little confused, and averted his gaze, looking out across the mountain, and hastily made a comment.

"It won't be much longer and we'll be on our way down. You'll be with your mother's pack in no time."

Minx swallowed hard and answered, hoping she sounded normal, "That's good. I'm...I'm very grateful for your help, Ramos."

At first the brute said nothing, then he asked quietly, "What made you decide to join your mother's pack? Where were you living before?"

Minx was silent for a long time, and Ramos said nothing, only waited, his gaze on the landscape before them. Finally she shifted her weight and answered him.

"I had a mate. But he left me, and I was tired of being alone."

Ramos turned to look at her, his expression pained, "He was an extremely stupid brute."

Minx said nothing, and Ramos said nothing, and the next day they resumed their journey as if nothing had happened.

At long last, they reached the mountain's base, and here Ramos stopped. Minx trotted forward several lengths before realizing he wasn't still with her and stopped as well, turning back.

"What's wrong? We're nearly into the valley!"

Ramos looked at her sorrowfully, "That's right. I've brought you to the valley, just like I said. I'm going back up the mountain."

Minx gaped at him in surprise. She had expected him to stay with her until she reached her mother's pack, but as she thought about it, she realized what a stupid thought it was. He had no reason to come the whole way with her. She felt colder than she ever had in the mountains as she struggled to answer.

"Oh...okay. We'll...see each other again, right?"

Ramos tried to smile, but only succeeded in looking miserable, and shrugged, turning back to pad up the mountain path once more. Minx watched him go, then turned and slowly walked towards the trees. Each pawstep felt more and more painful, and Minx suddenly became aware that something was truly wrong. Unable to continue, she spun around and raced back, ignoring the pain in her travel weary paws and she called out in desperation.

"Ramos! Please, wait!"

Minx sent rocks scattering as she ran up the pathway, and as she rounded a large stone, she ran smack into Ramos, who staggered back in surprise.

"Minx! Are you okay? What's wrong?" He moved closer to her in concern, green eyes searching hers. She pressed against him, whimpering, "Don't go, Ramos...let me come with you."

The male's eyes widened in surprise, and he hesitated before flicking his tail, "Come on, there was a sheltered ledge a little ways back we can rest under." He turned and led the way, Minx limping behind him, her paws now paining her after her panicked rush. They settled under the ledge and Ramos sniffed at her paws, then gently licked her sore pads. Minx didn't pull away, just let her breath out in a soft sigh.

"I'm sorry Ramos...my eyes were closed to how I felt about you."

He lifted his muzzle to touch noses with her, "Are you sure, Minx?" he barely dared to hope. He had gained so much respect for the brave and resilient forest wolf, and the idea of returning alone to the mountain had caused him more pain than he had ever experienced in his life.

Minx murred softly, rubbing her muzzle against his, "I don't want to be apart from you, Ramos."

They leaned into each other with soft murrs, eyes closed in happiness as they rubbed together. They remained under the ledge in silence, and when the night was at its peak, Ramos rolled Minx onto her back and wrapped his paws around her, nuzzling her throat gently.

"Become my mate, Minx. I will never leave you, I swear upon the mountain itself. Mate with me."

The red shewolf tilted back her muzzle with a murr, submitting to his caress, then pressed her smooth belly against his as she licked his cheek, "Yes."

Ramos whimpered, burying his muzzle into her silken fur, shifting his belly between her thighs until his sheath pressed against her swollen sex. He found her heated and slick, and he tightened his grip on her, waiting to be surebefore he continued. Minx gently caressed his face with her licks, murring softly. Unable to resist any longer, Ramos let himself slip free of his sheath and he pressed into his new mate's heat, shivering in pleasure.

Minx whimpered a soft moan, arching her back against the hard stone to better accept her mate, her thighs pressing against his flanks as his penetration brought new waves of heat through her body. She gently nipped at him, which caused the brute to grunt in pained pleasure and thrust himself deeper within her. He pulled back only to plunge within her again, lifting her rump from the floor as he worked himself deeper within. Minx submitted to him as he pumped between her legs, filling her with his searing heat, her body moving with every thrust of his. They clung to each other as they mated, making only soft noises as they joined.

Ramos increased his pace and reached the limit of Minx's depths as he thrust his knot into his mate's heated sex, tying them together. The brute bit into her skin as he ejected his pent up heat, filling her with his thick seed. He collapsed on top of her, his head laying on her chest as they panted together. He never wanted to be apart from her, and it was with mutual regret that he pulled himself free some time later.

They pressed into each other afterward, refusing to be separated, and fell into a deep sleep. Where they would go from here, neither knew, but they did know it would be with one another.
