Tails of Light and Dark: Chapter 6: Light's Light

Light was walking through the streets of Loscade's inner city. His hood was pulled up and his paws in the pockets of his coat. Everyone that passed him by never gave a second glance.

Just how he likes it.

He slunk into an alley, where a certain avian was waiting for him.

It was Skye, and she was.... a lot more different than usual.

She placed contacts over her purple eyes, making them brown. She painted alluring swirls over her beak of various colours, and her attire..... lets just say it left little to the imagination.

Light looked over her form with a critical and skeptical eye.

"Are you sure this would work?" He questioned, looking into Skye's contacted eyes.

She scoffed at his disbelief.

"Puh-lease, Light. This guy is an idiot who's brain doesn't control his body. Either this works, or we can put you in this position." Skye responded, her wings crossed over in front of her revealed body. "And, for the record, I really hope to get out of this horrible get-up as soon as possible."

Light smiled to one side, slightly amused by Skye's small outburst.

"Then let's get this over with."

Skye nodded and uncrossed her wings and walked deeper into the alleyway. Light waited for a minute and followed Skye's path. He soon made it to a.... way less than sophisticated spot, a large dragon bouncer out the front. Light continued to walk forwards, and rapidly knocked the dragon bouncer out. Nursing his sore knuckles, he soon entered the crappy joint.

There were no windows, but multicoloured flashing lights lit the place up, if only for milliseconds at a time. It was assaulting his eyes. And the noise of men cheering, women screaming and..... not-so-sensible acts in the corners were severely screwing with his ears.

He managed to find Skye in the flashing and pounding mess of bodies, lights and sounds. He tapped her shoulder to get her attention, which was successful.

"Find him! I'll stay back!" Light yelled, trying to shout above the pounding sounds.

"Okay!" Skye yelled back, also trying the same thing.

Skye weaved her way through the crowd and soon Light was unable to find her through the large gathering of crazy and almost deaf anthros within a second. Light waited and snuck through after her, being careful not to arouse too much suspicion.

Natural light flooded the inside of the club, and was covered up by a dragon with a bruised eye and almost broken jaw.

"He's in here somewhere! Find him!" The dragon yelled to a bunch of security guards behind him.

The music seemed to stop, and all of the anthros stopped "dancing" while the dragon and friends searched for Light.

Too bad they won't catch him.

He continued to weave through the crowd, trying to not bring attention to himself. He pulled his hood up, just in case the dragon recognised his fur colour. Light transferred his pistol from the inside of his coat to his coat pocket.

He kept looking around, trying to find either Skye or the target and keeping an eye out for any of the security or the dragon. He heard a door creak open and heard the smallest echoes of voices.

"In you go, baby." An unknown male's voice said deeply.

"My, my.. Thank you."

That was Skye's voice. That must mean she found him.

Light began to push his way through. Although the pushes were slight, they were noticeable by the mumblings of the anthros he pushed past. When he finally made it through the crowd to where he heard the voices from, he saw a rusty door in front of him.

'Impossible to get through without making noise.' Light thought.

But he had to get there. Skye cannot kill the target on her own. Light jogged up and placed his left paw on the handle. He pushed it down and pulled the door back softly. While it did creak, it was almost soft. But it was noticeable in the silent background. Light slipped through and closed it behind him.

He found himself in a sterile white hallway, another door at the end of it. Light began to walk towards the door, his feet padding softly against the floor. The closer he got to the door, the more he could smell Skye's scent and the unhappy grunts of the target.

He made it to the other door and pressed his back against the wall beside it. He twisted the doorknob and softly pushed the door open a crack. He could see Skye lying on her side on a couch, her red feathers contrasting greatly to the blue material.

But it was the sight of the target's bare rear end that caused him to look away from the room.

Light, looking back into the hallway, took a deep breath in and exhaled silently. He breathed in once more and took the pistol out of his pocket. He looked back in and opened the door just a bit more. He saw Skye look his way slightly, knowing that something had to be done.

Light slipped the pistol through and counted to three in his head. On three, he flung the pistol towards Skye. The female avian caught it with ease and shot the target, who was a falcon, point blank in the chest. With that done, Light slipped through just as the dragon bouncer bashed through the other door.

At the other end, they saw a lone ground-storey window. Light took his coat off and covered the window with it. He summoned all of his strength and pulled his fist back. However, when he came down to punch it, his fist began to glow with a bright white light. When he punched the coat-covered window, the glass behind it broke with ease. Light shook the coat clean of shards and threw it to a dumbstruck Skye.

"Wear this and lets get outta here!" Light yelled.

Skye wrapped the coat around her and tightened the buckles. When she nodded, Light jumped out the window and Skye followed. They ran out of the alley that it looked out of and around the corner, just as the dragon bouncer came bursting in and seeing the dead body of the target and the broken window facing an empty alley.

They finally stopped running at their unofficial rendezvous point, which was their apartment above Skye's own shop.

Honestly, Light has no idea how she can be an assassin and run a shop at the age of seventeen.

Skye threw Light's coat back at him, which he caught with ease. However, his eyes lingered on......

He quickly snapped himself out of his staring. She is an accomplice, an assassin-in-arms, nothing more.

Skye continued through to her room while Light sat down on the couch, being careful of his tail in the process. It took a minute, but Skye was back in her old attire. She sat down beside Light and placed her head on his shoulder, breathing out heavily.

"That was a big day." She remarked.

"Agreed. No more clubs for me." Light responded.

"And no more "playa's" for me." Skye continued.

They sat there for who knows how long until Skye fell asleep on Light's shoulder. That left Light to think on a new fuzzy feeling that he has had for the time that they have been running. Like some power being untapped.

He raised his hand and clenched it, seeing nothing happen. But.... he saw his own fist covered in blinding light when he was about to break the window.

His life just became a whole new level of weird.
