"Well... I'm failing to see the appeal of this 'Shark Week' business." Janmar thought to himself as he swam around the sea close to Oahu beach. "I mean I can see loads and loads of humans walking around on the beach, but no sharks. There doesn't even seem to be any swimming around here!" He looked around himself - the seas were nice and peaceful, with not another predator aside himself swimming around. "How do people get excited over this?" He sighed - the shapeshifting orca was trying to find something to entertain him, and considering everyone seemed to go nuts over sharks, he thought that this would have been a perfect chance to find some. Hell, he had even travelled to a place where sharks were known to be in the water, but he found nothing, to his disappointment.

"What am I going to do now?" He spoke aloud, his speech unhindered by the water. "I didn't travel all the way out here to not find a shark...." He rose to the water's surface, his sleek head peeking out above the water as he looked towards the beach. There were plenty of people there, just walking about and minding their own business, basking in the sunlight. "Maybe I could have some fun with one of the many humans... at the same time, I do know how easily startled a large group of humans can become, so I might have to pick my target carefully." He was trying to find a human who was on their own, far enough away so that no attention was to be drawn to others - that part would come afterwards. IT didn't take him too long to find someone who was on their own, a twentysomething human male who was just idly walking about doing nothing aside from checking on his phone. "Ah yes... I think he'll do perfectly!" He grinned to himself, heading back beneath the water as he swam towards the beach, quickly shifting from his anthropomorphic form to his giant feral form.

"Can't say I was expecting to get decent internet reception outside of the hotel!" Jason thought, checking some stuff on a website he used frequently, wondering if he had received any messages from friends or others. It was a good thing that no-one else was around to look over his shoulder whilst he was checking through some of the comments he had received on pieces he had posted - if anyone had seen some of the weirder pieces he had posted, he'd either get some awkward glances or people thinking that he was a freak. Or worse, saying it to his face. At least with no-one around he didn't have to worry about that. What he didn't know was that there was someone else around, but it wasn't another person. He heard a low croon come from a few feet away, distracting his attention from his phone. "Huh, what was that?" He cast his gaze towards the beach, and his eyes went wide in shock - a large orca was lying halfway between the sea and the beach, stuck on its side. "Oh my God...." He put his phone away, rushing to its side. "Where on earth did you come from?!"

'Seriously?' was the first word that came to Janmar's mind. He was looking up at a beached killer whale and the first thing that came to the human's mind was 'where did you come from?'. If he was capable of doing it at the moment, he would have dope-slapped Jason. Still, he didn't want to draw attention to the fact that he could talk yet, so he had to play along. His eyes looked towards the sea, letting out a 'pained' groan.

"And how did you get out here? Did you mistime your jump or something?" Jason asked him, the whale slowly bobbing his huge head. "You poor thing... is there anything I can do to help you?"

Janmar nodded, crooning again as he gazed back at the sea. "You... you want me to push you back into the sea?" Janmar nodded one more time. "I... I don't know if I'm strong enough to do that though..." He hung his head low. "I mean I can try, but I don't know if I'll be able to get you back there." He placed his hands on Janmar's snout, gathering up all his strength as he pushed against the titanic beast, hoping against hope that he'll be able to get the beached animal back into the crystal clear water. Janmar crooned as he was slowly but surely inched back towards the ocean, his tail splashing against the water as he was reintroduced into the wet depths.

"Hrrraahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!" Jason grunted with effort as he gave one last hard, firm push, falling forwards onto his face as Janmar was submerged enough to guide himself back into the sea, crooning happily. "Whew... there we go..." He huffed, out of breath as he looked at Janmar. "That... that really took a lot out of me... but I'm glad you're back in the water..."

"Indeed, you did quite well!" Janmar responded.

There was an awkward silence for a moment, Jason looking at him in confusion for a few seconds. "Did you just...talk?"

"No-one else is around, so I guess it must have been me!"

"That's what I thought." Jason responded. If it were possible, his head would have exploded like Mike Dawson's mother from the revelation that an Orca whale just spoke to him in the human tongue. "HOW?!"

"It's a long story, and one I'll explain to you in good time. As for now, I think it'll be better for both of us if I took on a more fitting form." He chuckled, the massive orca shrinking in size as his body gained more human definition and features, legs sprouting from his body as his pectoral fins shifted into clawed arms. Seconds later the Orca stood up on his new legs, towering over him as he stood ten feet tall. "I should introduce myself as well - the name's Janmar." He extended a clawed hand.

"Jason. Nice to meet you, I think." He grasped Janmar's hand, the Orca keeping a firm grip on it as he shook it. "Gah... nice handshake..." He winced.

"Thank you. Now you're probably wondering why I tricked you like this, right?" Janmar asked.

"I guess it'd be nice if you did."

"To keep a long story short, I came here for this Shark Week business people keep talking about, and I haven't seen a single shark around here." Janmar explained.

"Ah... well to be honest, Shark Week is just a week of programs dedicated to sharks that the documentary channels show to get in some extra ratings. At the same time, people advertise that online to get some extra cash into their wallets."

"Wow, people get THAT hyped up over sharks for one week that they're willing to go nuts and spend extra for shark themed things?" Janmar tilted his head. "I guess if it works, you can't complain."

"Think nothing of it. I'm just sorry you came all this way for nothing."

"Well... it might not be entirely for nothing..." A smirk crossed Janmar's mouth. "How about I give you a little something for 'saving' my life?"

"That would be co... wait... did you plan this?"

"You sae me transform from a giant feral Orca to an anthro one, do you think I was in any real form of danger?" Janmar's smirk broke into a grin, revealing a mouthful of sharp fangs. "I just did that to see if anyone would come to my aid!"

"I... see..." He looked very unimpressed. "Must...resist...fist of death."

"I'd ask to resist any of those thoughts. Mainly because my 'fist of death' could be painfully literal." Janmar spoke smugly, a satisfied smirk on his snout. "Anyway. As thanks for helping me, I want to give you something special. Do you like tattoos, by any chance?"

"I can't say I've ever thought about getting one, cause I wouldn't know what type would look good on me."

"You don't say? If that's the case, why don't I decide on a tattoo for you?"

"I can't see no harm in that. Do you have any tools for inking tattoos on you, though?"

"I don't need any tools." Janmar laughed. "I'll need you to remove your clothing, though."

"Oh..." Jason went bright red. "I guess I should be glad that no-one's around." He responded, removing his clothes.

"Well how else will I be able to give you your tattoo if you're wearing clothes?" Janmar stepped closer, towering over Jason. "This'll only take a few minutes, so whenever you're ready, we'll begin."

"Right." Jason looked up at Janmar. "Just do what you've gotta do."

"You're in good hands, so don't worry." The orca spoke warmly, placing his hands around Jason's right side and shoulder. "This may tickle a little bit." He warned him, a tingling feeling running through the human's side. Jason kept a watchful eye between the Orca and his arm, watching as black, tribal-like markings were etched onto his skin from seemingly out of nowhere.

"Woah... how are you doing that?" He asked, watching the tattoos spread. What he didn't notice was that the other side of his body was starting to alter, the skin drying up, becoming rougher. A pair of spikes jutted out from his elbows, his fingers gaining a thin layer of grey webbing between them, sharp claws emerging from his fingertips.

"It's a little bit of magic. I'd explain how I'm doing it, but then that'd detract from the fun, wouldn't it?" He continued making the tattoo, guiding it down Jason's right arm, slowly making it go towards his wrist. At the same time, the rough skin was replacing the human flesh on his right arm, the muscles in his arms and torso gaining some definition.

"True. Why does my skin feel so dry, though?" He asked Janmar, scratching at his side, wincing when he felt the touch of his claws against his side. Wait... claws?! "HOLY FUCKING WHAT?!"

"Ah, I guess I should have explained that these tattoos do bring some slight alterations." Janmar laughed, finishing up the work on his arm as his broad hands moved a little lower down, close to Jason's thigh. "Oh, one thing, if you're willing to humor me here - how attached to your name are you, Jason?"

"Well I was born with it, I've used it my entire life... why do you ask?"

"Mainly because that little name of yours is going to hold little to no importance to you once I'm finished." He cackled. Janmar kept a close eye over Jason as he generated tattoos around his waist, a traditional P'ea forming. His legs gained some extra bulk, a bump forming at the base of his spine as he felt someone tugging on it from out of nowhere. The tribal-like markings appeared across his legs, all the way down to his ankles, his feet clicking as they stretched, the toes merging together into three as a thin webbing formed between each digit, a sharp claw growing from each. "Given these tribal tattoos, I'd suggest something Hawaiian."

"Hawaiian? But I'm an American!" Jason pointed out, trying to get used to his new feet, the pressure having shifted to the balls of them. The pressure at the base of his spine grew more intense, soon bursting free as it elongated, flesh and muscle covering it as it formed into a powerful tail, wagging behind him. The tip split into an unevenly shaped fluke, a small pair of spike like fins growing just a few inches away from the fluke.

"Hey, I'm British. You wouldn't think so because I'm named Janmar, but like you, that wasn't my birth name."

"It wasn't?" Jason enquired, arching his back as a large pectoral fin grew from the middle of his back. "What was it, then?"

"Peter." Janmar responded as Jason's hair fell away in clumps.

"Wait... I know someone called Peter, but he went missing a while back. You couldn't be..."

"I don't think I've been missing as long as that parcel you've been trying to send me since Christmas." He cracked a smile, watching Jason's ears moved towards the top of his head, elongating into large points, splitting a little at the bottom. His jaws then thrust forwards, his nose sinking into his upper jaw as his head reshaped into a semi-triangular form, his teeth being replaced by hundreds of razor-sharp fangs. To end his transformation, his eyes were forced to the sides of his head, turning an icy blue with slitted pupils.

"Holy crap, it really IS you!" He grinned, revealing his array of fangs to the Orca. "Ya know, I couldn't help but picture you sitting at a computer in that giant form of yours, or trying to use a laptop underwater!"

"You and that crazy mind of yours." Janmar smirked. "Well at least now you can say we're kinda related. Still gotta think of a new name for you, though."

"How about..." Jason thought for a moment, looking at his Hawaiian tattoos. "Kanaloa sounds like a tropical name, don't you think?"

"That name's a nice fit!" Janmar beamed happily. "So what do you wanna do now, Kanaloa?"

"Hrm..." He looked towards the patrons on the beach, some of them swimming about in the water. "You wouldn't happen to have the Jaws theme on your iPod, would you? I mean, if you have one that's waterproof, I can't imagine you bringing a lot of things with you into the water."

"I've got a waterproof phone, I could probably find that on YouTube. You're not going to eat anyone though, are you?" Janmar teased him.

"Come on, I'm not THAT sadistic!" Kanaloa roared with laughter. "I'd just love to see how they'd react to seeing an actual shark swimming around the beach during Shark Week of all things!"

"Hehe... I could help freak them out further. I know I'm not a shark, but a pair of big fins sticking out the water will probably send them running for cover!" Janmar headed back into the water, quickly shifting back into his feral form, his large dorsal fin standing several feet above the water's surface.

"This is gonna be a lot of fun!" Kanaloa grinned, diving into the water alongside Janmar as they made a beeline towards the populated part of the beach, ready to cause more than a few scares.
