Chapter 46 - Dinner For Three
Once the three reached the hospital, Gerald offered to help the two Pokemon take their things up to Chris's room, also for the sake of meeting the man his Pokemon had shown such an earnest respect for throughout the day. Once they arrived, the three walked in together, with Gardevoir and Servine carrying their bouquets while Gerald carried in the food, causing Chris to blink surprised as he sat with the bed raised against his back. "Ohh... Looks like you two had plenty of fun huh?" he chuckled, noticing Gerald as well and smiling. "Thanks for taking on the job of keeping these two busy for me... I really didn't want them stuck here the whole time. I didn't want them getting lost and in harms way in the city either... You're a good man." he told Gerald, slightly bowing his head as best he could before groaning with a nervous laugh. "Oh no my good man. I wouldn't call it a job whatsoever! I actually enjoyed my time with these two... It was a delightful experience." he told Chris with a bow as the two Pokemon went up to his bedside. "Got flowers! More flowers, get better faster!" Gardevoir told him with a grin, suddenly raising up her bouquet and lifting it over Chris, causing him to blink with a nervous sweat as its shadow loomed over him before she dropped it down on top of him, causing his head to pop out from the top with leaves and petals on his head, his mask knocked off his face. "W... Wow... Smells really good! Th... Thanks for the present." he laughed nervously before coughing, Gerald quickly walking up and helping him get his mask back on correctly. "Haaaah... Thanks... Can't move my arms and hands really at the moment." Chris responded as Gardevoir poked her fingers together with a guilty expression. "S... Sorry... Too much no good after all...?" she asked. "N... No no!! Its really nice of you!! I love it so no worries!!" he told her, causing Gardevoir to smile and nod with a slight blush, walking up and giving him a hug. "Ahh... That's even nicer... Maybe even better than the flowers." he told her, causing Gardevoir to flush and pull away shyly. "D... Don't say that... Embarrassing..." she giggled, Servine puffing out her cheeks in irritation before climbing up and holding out her own bouquet in his face, causing Chris to blink in surprise as Gerald chuckled.
"Dear me... You've no idea how sensitive these two are when it comes to you... Its as if they are trying to compete over you really... I find it adorable myself." he smiled, causing both Pokemon to scowl at him before Servine let out a "take it!!" noise, blushing embarrassed as she put her bouquet down in front of Chris on top of the pile Gardevoir already laid down, turning her back to Chris with her arms crossed. Looking at her, he chuckled and shook his head, rubbing her back as best he could. "Hey hey... Come on. I love yours too... Its really pretty, and it shows how much thought you put into it for me... You wanna give me a hug too?" he asked, causing Servine to jolt as her tail shot up, facing him for a moment before turning around and nodding silently. Making her way up to his face, Servine put her arms around him as best she could with his neck brace on, holding him silently for a moment before rubbing her cheek against his, causing Chris to chuckle with an "aww" noise making Servine flush brightly embarrassed, quickly pulling away with an "oh hush..." noise as she sat next to him on the sheets, looking away with a small smile. "These two really love you something fierce... Its remarkable considering the type of Pokemon they are... Gardevoir is a truly unique type of Pokemon, who vow themselves to the human they travel with... Yet its a fact that I have never seen a Gardevoir with such a level of admiration for the human she accompanies... They naturally respect and protect the human they wind up with... But your Gardevoir is something special indeed..." he told Chris, causing Gardevoir to blush all the more and turn away embarrassed, waving her hand with a giggle in a "stop it!" kind of way. "Then there's Servine there... To be honest, not once have I ever seen one of her species show such affection towards the human they travel with... They obey humans as any Pokemon, but to earn their wholehearted respect and especially their love... It truly takes a special kind of person to win the heart of a Servine... I doubt there is a greater honor in the world than to have accomplished such a feat." he chuckled, Servine sticking her nose up with a "that's right!" noise in response, making both Chris and Gerald laugh as Servine blinked at the two before facing away embarrassed. "Well... I'm just glad these two are enjoying their lives to the fullest now... As long as the two of them are happy, that's all I could ask for." Chris responded, Gerald nodding in a "well said" way as the two Pokemon faced him with sudden smiles, nodding as well before they both gave him another hug, causing Chris to groan slightly. "Careful now... Love can kill too you know!" he laughed, causing both of them to let go and rub their heads with embarrassed laughs.
"Well then... I do believe you should eat before your dinner goes bad... Right?" Gerald asked, the two Pokemon shooting up with "Oh yeah!!" responses. Handing Servine the bag with cakes inside and Gardevoir the bag of teriyaki noodles, the two brought the food up to Chris, causing him to laugh nervously in response. "H... Hold on you two. First thing's first..." he told them as he pressed a button on the side of his bed. After a moment, one of the nurses came in, and with a quick explanation, she switched his mask out for breathing tubes, putting them in his nose before leaving with a bow. "There... Now we can eat." he told the two as Servine looked at his face confused, reaching up and touching the tube. "Oh... Its just to help me breathe through my nose while I eat. No worries!" he told her, getting a nod from Servine as Gardevoir faced him confused as she too felt his face, gliding her fingers along the tube leading into his nose and suddenly showing a sad expression. "Fall really hurt bad... Find out how long you wear?" she asked. "Oh! Yeah... Probably about a week... I can kinda breathe without any help but I start coughing pretty quick... It lets me breathe without pushing my body too much. That's all." he told her, getting a silent nod in response as Gardevoir faced down. "Hey now... No sad looks. We're all alive and well. Everything turned out fine and will only get better, right?" he reassured her, Gardevoir facing up and nodding in response with a smile, Servine looking at him with a nod as well, an expression of "that's our man..." on her face. Rummaging in her bag, Servine pulled out one of the small containers of cake, handing it out to Gerald with a "good work today" sound, Gerald taking it with a bow. "Thank you madam. And thank you as well Chris for permitting them to use your money for my sake." he told them. "No worries. You're doing something really awesome for me, and them. I'm happy to make sure you get good things in return. One good deed deserves another!" he laughed, Gerald nodding in response. "I thank you again Master Chris... Will that be all for today?" he asked. "Well... I guess these two should have somewhere better to stay during the nigh..." he said with a pause as the two shout at him and shook their heads. "We're not leaving! We stay other places when you can too!" Gardevoir said firmly, Servine nodding in agreement. "Ah... But... Agh..." Chris responded, letting out a sigh and shaking his head. "...Well, don't blame me if you aren't very comfortable..." he told the two as Gerald smiled nervously. "Well... I guess that's it for today after all... Thanks again. I'm glad you're the one watching over my..." he paused, scowling at the two. "stubborn family..." he grumbled, the two sticking out their tongues at him as Gerald laughed loudly. "It truly is an honor. Until tomorrow then." he bowed, carrying away his cake and leaving the room. "What a delightful family... Never thought the day would come when I would be able to say that so proudly about a person and their Pokemon..." Gerald said to himself as he opened the container. "And so polite! Even towards an old servant like myself... How wonderful!" he chuckled, taking a bite of his cake as he walked through the hospital.
"Well... How about showing off what we've got for dinner then?" Chris asked with a grin, the two jolting and rushing up to his face with their containers of food. "W... Woah woah!! Easy easy one thing at a time!!" he told the two, sweating nervously as they slowly pulled the food away, growling at each other as he let out a sigh. "Alright... First lets put these flowers in a special spot... How about over by the window? That way I can see them in the sun when it comes up and enjoy them whenever you two are out in the city!" he smiled. Nodding in response, Servine took hers and put it in the window seal, then helped Gardevoir gather her massive bouquet and put it on top of a chair near the window as well, revealing a bed full of leaves and petals. "Ha ha... Thanks to you girls this place feels a whole lot nicer. And... Better smelling to!" he laughed as they sat near him once again, Gardevoir by his side and Servine next to him on the sheets. "Alright then... To start with..." he muttered, looking at the containers as the two sat anxiously, each ready to shove out what they got. "Cake would be..." he said, cut off as Servine shout and opened her container, grinning as Chris sweat nervously. "C... Cake would be... Best for after the main course... Right...?" he asked, Servine blinking before pulling away with an embarrassed look, Gardevoir grinning and holding out her container, sticking her tongue out at Servine in the process. "G... Geez... Did the two of you actually get... Worse?" he asked, smiling nervously as the two scowled. "W... Well... What exactly did you buy then Gardevoir?" he asked curiously as she felt her way around the container until she finally managed to pull it open, holding it out in front of him and nearly hitting his face. "Seafood... Special... Teriyaki noodles!!" she responded as he blinked at it. "oohh... Really good choice..." he told her in a surprised tone, looking at the various things mixed in with the noodles, his eyes beginning to show a sudden twinkle of life, Servine taking notice and facing away with a scowl. Forgetting for a moment his movement was restricted, Chris tried to quickly move his arms, causing his eyes to widen with a loud "crap!!" followed by a groan, the two jolting in surprise as he bit his lip from the sharp pains. "H... Ha ha... Forgot... No arms..." he laughed nervously, suddenly letting out a sad sigh. "Boy... How limited you are doesn't really hit you at first, but once it does... Sheesh..." he grumbled, looking down at his arms as best he could. "No worries! I can feed!" Gardevoir giggled, feeling around in the bag until she pulled out a plastic fork, holding the food up and working some onto it before suddenly freezing. "Ahh... Not... Very good at this yet... Let... Servine do it? Call... Hospital person?" she asked with a slightly sad look of her own. "Oh... Uh... No no! This is fine! Its a chance to practice! You got it for me, so you can help me eat it. That okay?" he asked, Gardevoir blinking at him before looking down nervously. "Okay... I'll try..." she responded, slowly holding the fork full of noodles up towards his mouth. Guiding her along, she accidentally poked him on the side of the mouth before he was able to take a bite, her hand trembling nervously as she worked more food onto the fork. "Not bad! First bite and you nearly got it!" he praised, Gardevoir nodding in response as she carefully fed him bite after bite. Watching the two, Servine could help but cross her arms in a bit of envy, picking up on the warm atmosphere between the two as Gardevoir clumsily fed him yet he praised her with nearly every bite nonetheless. Eventually, Chris had cleaned out the container, Gardevoir poking the fork around inside before tipping it upside down over her head. "All... Gone...? That was fast... You really hungry..." she told him with wide eyes. Laughing nervously, Chris glanced towards a mirror in the room nearby, seeing fork marks surrounding his mouth and cheeks. "Yep... I was hungry alright... It was torture..." he chuckled as Gardevoir looked at him concerned. "Torture...? So hungry it painful...? H... Here!! Have mine too!!" she offered, holding out her container causing Chris to quickly shake his head. "N... No no!! I mean the uh... The wait was torture! I'm all good now!!" he laughed, Gardevoir slowly lowering her container with an "I... See..." response.
Looking around, Chris couldn't see Servine anywhere, until he heard her mumbling coming from he window seal. Looking towards her, Chris saw her sulking against the window, an odd shadow looming over her as she twirled her finger on top of her container of cake. Blinking at her confused, Chris muttered towards Gardevoir, wanting her to shed light on Servines sudden mood. "Oh... She's sulking. You choose my food first and now all full. She's jealous. Oh well." she smiled, patting Chris on the head as he laughed nervously. "We... Well... Having some cake now wouldn't hurt..." he responded, Gardevoir raising an eyebrow before letting out a grunt and opening her food. "Uhh... So... Yeah... Cake...?" he asked again, looking towards Servine as she continued sulking as though nobody was in the room. Irritated, Gardevoir suddenly flicked up her finger, causing her psychic abilities to flick Servine on the back of the head once again. Letting out an annoyed shout, she rubbed her head and looked around, facing Gardevoir with a scowl. "Ah... Back with us now? I said... Cake would be nice." he repeated, causing Servine to jolt and blink at him for a moment before looking down at her container with a scowl. Picking it up, she made her way back onto his bed, sitting next to him as she opened it up, looking away with a slight blush. "No way... I'd know that look and smell anywhere... You actually brought cheesecake?!!" he shout, his sudden enthusiasm causing Gardevoir to put her hands on her hips with a "hey!!" as Servine blinked at him and put her nose up with a proud smile, nodding in response. "Oh man... I haven't had this stuff in ages... Smells like it was made just right too... Excellent!!" he grinned, Servine waving her hand and making a noise as if to say "naturally!" as Gardevoir crossed her arms and faced away, munching on her food. "Oh... S... Sorry! I really loved what you got too! Its all delicious stuff! You two know how to give a guy the perfect dinner!" he laughed, both Pokemon facing down shyly and poking their fingers. "Seafood teriyaki and cheesecake... You girls are the best." he grinned, the statement causing the two Pokemon to blush all the more as Servine picked up the fork from her bag. Suddenly freezing herself, Servine realized that she... Hadn't really learned how to use one herself very well either... And as a nervous sweat began to show on her face, she carefully tried to cut a piece, fumbling with the fork before she was finally able to get a small piece onto it with a sigh. "Not bad! With enough practice the both of you will be using those like a pro!" he smiled, causing Servine to let out another sound in a "be quiet" noise as she struggled to keep her composure, not wanting her nervousness and embarrassment to show. Letting out an "aaahhh!" sound, she faced Chris with the fork as he opened his mouth, only for Servine to stumble and send the cake smashing into his nose. As the both of them blinked, Servine quickly pulled back with a loud "I'm sorry!!" shout, looking down in humiliation with the piece of cake now clinging to the tip of his nose. "Ha ha. I... Its fine. Smells good at least!" he chuckled, suddenly crossing his eyes to look at the piece. Facing up at him, Servine saw his expression and let out a sudden "pfft" noise, covering her mouth as Chris tried to get the cake off his nose with his tongue, his eyes remaining cross until the cake finally dropped off and landed, luckily, right on the tip of his tongue. "Hwey!! I dwid it!!" he chuckled, oddly proud of being able to eat the piece on his own as Servine struggled to resist laughing, facing away and shaking her head with her mouth covered.
"Hey... Whats with the funny face? Being able to touch your nose with your tongue is a real challenge!" he scowled. In response, the two Pokemon both blinked at him for a moment before touching their tongues on their noses at the same time, rather easily as well causing Chris to scowl all the more. "...You two can be reeeeaaal smart some times..." he grumbled, Servine blowing a raspberry in response and laughing as Gardevoir tilt her head confused. "Doing that... Make us smart?" she asked, causing Chris to groan as Servine nodded at her, making a sound as if to say "Yeah... Makes you a little smarter!" before laughing again, Gardevoir picking up on her remark and raising her hand, ready to flick it again only for Servine to let out an "okay okay!" response, grumbling as she tried to get more cake on her fork while Gardevoir took another bite of her own food, growling at Servine in the process. Bit by bit, Chris slowly made his way through Servines treat as well, until it was finished and he was able to relax with a sigh. "Whoo boy... Really gotta say... Good taste you two... Really got the good stuff." he smiled as the two finished their own portions. After a moment, Chris suddenly let out a belch, excusing himself with a flush on his face while they gave him a shocked expression, the both of them seemingly saying "excuse you!!" at the same time, only for them to let out a sudden loud belch of their own together, leaving them just as flushed as Chris. Looking at the two, he suddenly snickered and burst into laughter, both Pokemon doing the same with slight tears in all of their eyes. "Who would have thought the two of you could have THAT kind of power!" he chuckled. Shaking their heads in response, the two pardoned themselves at the same time, with Servine plopping onto her back on his sheets full of cake as Gardevoir sat back and rubbed her stomach, now full of noodles. "You know... Sometimes... Human food really delicious... Not always... But can be good." she sighed, Servine nodding in agreement with a thumbs up. Sitting around for a while as the two told Chris more about their day and digested, it wasn't long before they suddenly got a knock at the door, causing Gardevoir to shoot up in a defensive stance as Servine sat up with a scowl. "Easy now... Its probably just the nurses again." Chris reminded Gardevoir, easing her into relaxing before making her way towards the door as the knocking continued. Stumbling over a chair, she quickly caught herself and stood up straight, reaching out and feeling her way towards the knob. "Coming, coming... What you need?" Gardevoir asked, finally opening the door as two nurses stood in front of her. "A... Ah... Pardon but we're afraid its time for your trainers bath... He can't be moved so he must be bathed in bed... That being the case, the doctor would like the two of you to leave the room for a moment until we're finished." one of the nurses told her.
Climbing down from the bed, Servine walked up and climbed her way onto Gardevoirs shoulder, looking at the rags, towels and bathing products in the nurses arms. Muttering to Gardevoir, she nodded in response as the nurses faced one another confused. "No need you. We clean him ourselves." she responded, reaching out and taking what the nurses had brought. "Ah... But its procedure here... He needs fresh bandages as well." the other nurse spoke up, holding out various rolls which Servine took from them. "That's fine. We can take care. Thank you." she told the nurses as they looked past Gardevoir with concerned looks. "But... Its procedure... We can't allow Pokemon to do our job... Please keep in mind this also involves handling... Areas... You shouldn't touch..." they muttered. Hearing this, they both tilt their heads confused. "You mean wounds? We can be careful. Won't hurt him." Gardevoir told the two with a nod. Thanking them again, she began to close the door, until the nurses interrupted again. "Its not just the wounds...!! Cleaning him and changing involves handling his body in places his Pokemon really shouldn't be near...!!" they muttered loudly, causing Gardevoir and Servine to jolt with a wide eyed expression as Gardevoir turned around. "You're talking about getting naked... Having to wash him... ALL over... And wrapping him up... Right?" she asked, the nurses nodding with a "yes" in response. For a moment, the two stood at the door in silence, just facing the nurses... It was a moment you could hear pins dropping, and just as one of the nurses raised a finger to speak, the silence was broken in a flash as Gardevoir and Servine grinned at one another, suddenly slamming the door in the nurses faces, causing Chris to jump nearly out of his bed from the noise, groaning from his body's sudden movement before facing the door. "Wha wha... What the heck was that about?! What happened with the nurses?" he asked, looking at their backs wide eyed. "Did you really slam the door on the staff?! They could kick you two out!" he told them nervously, trying to move but only causing himself more pain. Watching the two, he suddenly heard them making a weird... Quiet noise... Kind of like hissing... But slowly it turned into more of a giggle. "G... Girls? Seriously... Wh... Whats the deal? Come on... Let the staff in..." he told the two nervously, a bit of sweat on his face as they giggled louder. Then... Suddenly... They both slowly turned around together, the both of them grinning with a gleam in their eyes as Servine suddenly ripped open the roll of bandages, grinning as Gardevoir clutched the soap and rags.
"Time... For bath..." she chuckled, Servine nodding with an "uh huuuh..." noise, the both of them slowly walking towards Chris as he began to turn pale. "G... Girls? N... Not cool... Seriously!!" he shout, trying to scoot away from them and reach the help button on the side of his bed. Unfortunately, it had been knocked off from the events before revolving the flowers and food, leaving him, unfortunately, silenced and helpless as the two got closer and closer, certain looks all over their faces as they grinned that sent a freezing shudder down Chris's spine...
