August 8: Ghost Pictures - After
#27 of Morenatsu: My Summer Days in Minasato
And here we have another shortie. It's what happened after the test of courage with Kouno and the rest. Since Nana's involvement here was somewhat downplayed, the latter part of the scene definitely changed.
I arrived at the candy store and saw that Kounosuke, Shun-kun, and Tora were already there. Kounosuke took the photographs out of his bag, and while Shun-kun was excited to see them, Tora was trying his best to not be scared. That night, Kounosuke and Shun-kun went to the sites assigned to them and took pictures, doing it as quick as they could before setting up the prank for us. While I still had some bitter feelings about it, I had to admit that the tanuki's plan was brilliant.
Before we looked over those ones though, I decided to show the ones that were on my phone. Kounosuke remarked that the quality wasn't too great, and the photos were too dark to see properly.
"Cut me some slack," I said, putting away my phone. "You said that we can't use the flash."
"Maybe you should consider upgrading your phone," Kounosuke said. "I hear they make professional-style lenses for cameras now."
"Anyway, let's take a look at yours now."
So Kounosuke scattered the photos on the table and each of us took one. Compared to my photos, these were clearer. Yes it was dark, but you could make out the silhouettes in the area. And indeed, each of them had a creepy atmosphere. Shun-kun, putting down the photo he held with a quick motion, got up from his seat and asked if we wanted something to drink. I asked for orange juice, Kounosuke cola, and Torahiko cider. While the little wolf was getting the drinks, we glossed over the photos and they were indeed creepy, nothing strange was in them.
"Well I'd be worried if it were that simple," Kounosuke said.
"Definitely," Tora said.
"Darn. Hold on, where's the photo for the music room?"
I took my phone out again. "Eh? I swear we took a pho-"
And then it came back to me. Thanks to that prank, we weren't able to take a photo of the music room. The tanuki teased us about it, to which Tora retaliated by pulling on his ear. Back with the drinks, Shun-kun called out for the tiger to stop.
Kounosuke grabbed the tiger's arm. "Oww! Sorry! C'mon, let me go!"
"Hiroyuki, should I?" Tora asked.
"I guess we'll forgive him for now," I said, grinning.
The tanuki was freed. "Yeowch! You pulled too hard, Torahiko!"
Tora sneered. "That's divine punishment!"
"You reap what you sow, right?" I said.
Kounosuke sighed. "I guess we really went there for nothing, huh?"
"Hold on." Something popped up in my mind. "When we split up at the school gates, I stayed there for a bit longer. I remember seeing something..."
"What is it?" the three said in unison.
"I... can't recall. I did remember seeing something, but what it was is gone."
Except for Tora who looked relieved, the two looked disappointed with what I said. Kounosuke put the photos back in his bag, and we decided to just enjoy the drinks for the rest of the afternoon. Torahiko then reminded me of our sleepover later so I made a mental note to get all the stuff I needed for later. When we were done each of us went on our way, Kounosuke deciding to stay in the store.
