Shadow's Shade
Ch.1 Love is blind
"it's ok" she said "it's not your fault" then she started crying, balling to be more accurate, The nameless voice became footfalls as she hears him walk over and hug her. Warm...soft...loving. So much better than her abusive mother and always gone father. "I'll take care of you" he said without hesitation.
"can I please know you name" she said slowly. Normally someone would get "who are you or a assigned name like you, over there. This was different. "Shadow" he replied softly while petting her hair. His hand soft and caring. She leaned into him "you should sleep" he said his voice still soft. She felt the warmth of his lips at her cheek as he leaned in hesitated and drew back.
"I don't mind" she said she imagined him smiling as he kissed, licked, her cheek. Soft...warm...wet...and...something else. She smiled picking up the pattern of soft, warm, and loving. "How did you get us out of the pred area?" she said falling asleep "another time" he said as she herd the light switch. This was her first time not seeing the difference but she knew in her heart she was safe. Now.
Opening her eyes made all of the memories flooded in of the previous day.
"Why did dad take this job?" The last thing she thought before the bomb went off. She saw her family die.
The blinding light. This was her last sight. She was the farthest. Her name is Shade she is a mouse anthro . She lived on the border of the predator, or pred, and prey zone border. Because preds eat prey there is a wall between them. The same wall she felt herself fly over before she the impact knocked her out.
Black. She was blind. "It should only be temporary." A voice. Male. "who's there?" she screamed in fear, and in sorrow, "Is that the way you treat all the people who save you?"
Then it came to her. She was on a soft, warm, bed "thank you" she said feeling the silky bed, felling bandages on her legs, arms, and eyes. "w..wh...why did you help me" realizing a moment later how it sounded she quickly added "not that I'm not thankful for it"
"you cute" he laughed. Iin a noticeably more sympathetic voice he added "sorry about your family."
"its ok" she said "it's not your fault"
Weeks passed as their love grew. She woke up to him massaging her she noticed for the first time she was seeing red through the bandages. Wait. seeing! She sat up fast enough to make him jump and almost fall of the bed "I can see!" she shouted turning around to almost look at him, her secrete love, the voice who got her through all of this.
"we must work on your eyes then" he said happily "so will I get to see you then" she said hugging him "I cant wait to see my savior"
burying her face in his fur he seemed he seemed sad for some reason. She could she could tell wait... not sad.... afraid? He led her to a room telling her that he that he would be right back and that she could take off the bandages.
Her first sight was a small room lit by a candle with roses next to it. with some Cheese in the shape of a heart witch she giggled at and something she couldn't make out at the other end of the table. she sat down looking at the flowers in the candlelight as the door open and quickly closed she couldn't believe her eyes. it was a wolf.
now, she was scared not only for her but what happened to shadow? He must have noticed the fear in her eyes and...cringed he sat down "don't be afraid please, please don't be afraid" the wolf said almost sounding like it was about to cry. but... that voice... shadow? He put his hand on hers soft...warm...loving...oh god.
She shut her eyes and knew that this was him she opened her eyes slowly she could see the fear now in his eyes as he repeated in desperation "please don't be afraid" she couldn't help but to see the inside of his mouth although for some reason she wasn't afraid.
her brain was screaming but in her heart she know that he would never hurt her and if he was he would have done it by now, and that he had been bending over backwards for he for weeks since he saved her. "Sorry" was the only thing that came to mind "this is lovely" she said starting to smile taking her hand out from under his only to put it on top.
He did his best to hide his teeth wile smiling the biggest wolf smile ever, although failing, she didn't care. She was too busy laughing at his wagging tail making him look like a puppy.
As they started eating she found he was eating corn instead of meat. She could tell on his now adorable face he was not use to it though. She also noticed for the first time that while she was getting stronger he was getting weaker. Then it hit her. he was starving himself of the meat his body needed for her.
"You know" she said seriously "you cant live longer without meat" she saw his ears instantly fold back in a look of shame "I don't want to lose you" he whispered.
She almost started to cry. He was killing himself for her. She ran over and hugged him " I trust you" she said knowing what it meant "very well" he said lick kissing her cheek lovingly which she realized there was a little tasting in there. "I kept some meat in the freezer just in case."
As he got up to go eat she asked a question that even surprised her "do I taste good?" he stopped mortified in his tracks
"....yes" it was barely audible. "but I would never...are you sure its ok to..."she stopped him with a kiss
"don't worry I know I'm safe" she snuggled him some "if you were going to kill me you would have done it by now, and don't be afraid to joke around with me" he only smiled at first "see you in a second, tasty" they both chuckled as he left.
The next few days were heaven for shade. Every once and a while he would do a wake up lick or she would have a soup bath but he made sure to be careful and never hurt or scare her.
She also got to the point were she could watch he eat meat, Her eyes were also getting better. he managed to show her his house inside and out (It was more of a Castle) and she loved it. Shadow never stopped making her feel like a queen and today she was determined to meet with his family or friends.
This is the end of chapter one of a series i am going to try to write. i want to give a huge thanks to mixed playlist for helping me to have the courage to post it, but dont hold that ageist him if you don't like it.
