#2 of Connecting Lines

I've been called many many things in my life, Freak and Monster among those names. However to date no one has quite guessed my secret. My current situation however would make it difficult to keep my hand hidden. I've been told by others that my voice can be quite hypnotic when the need arises. Well The need was there, and the stakes were quite high.

Oddly enough I wasn't in some back alleyway or some other exotic location, I was in school. About a dozen yards and a classroom ahead of me stood my target. Well target was a strong word but since they were aiming a gun at me I figure the word was accurate. "Who are you?" they said forcefully gesturing the gun towards me. I had my hands up in the classic surrender pose though my tone was calm and reasonable. "Sukura." I said without even thinking. In truth my name was Kyle and that's what most people in this school knew me as.

Sukura was the name only a few people knew within this school and of those few only two understood the true meaning.of that name. It meant cherry blossoms in Japanese, but I was far from a delicate flower. Names have power, and that name is no exception. It was as if I donned a mask as the name was said and my higher intelligence and cunning came into play.

"Why are you here Sukura?" they asked again still shouting. I studied their posture during the verbal exchange and noticed the trembling. "I'm here to offer you a deal." I replied while I also began to work on breaking into their mind. They were able to resist slightly but such resistance wouldn't last long against my mind. "What deal?" they asked cocking the gun.

Unfortunately for me, my repertoire did not include the ability to mentally control physical objects, otherwise known as telekinesis. However that didn't mean that I couldn't control their mind to make them do it for me. "Your life, in exchange for theirs." I replied while mentally I managed to break into their head and I said into their mind "_You only hear the sound of my voice, It is soothing and you cannot focus on anything but the sound it makes. The words no longer matter to you, you just long to hear the sound of my voice." _ What I just did is known as a suggestion and while their will fought against mine, I was the superior force and managed to make my command stick.

There was no physical change in the subject's face, not so much as a different facial expression or an eye twitch. I kept talking soft and low but I know every word was heard. "That gun must feel so heavy in your hand." as I spoke I maintained eye contact with them and by doing such allowed me to redouble my mental assault on them.

Behind the shooter, my dear classmates looked on in terror, disbelief, and shock. They were shaking now, my words charged with my power striking their mind. Each word as if they were being struck by the whip of a lion tamer. They now needed two hands to hold the gun and to hold it steady though every passing second looked like it was giving them more and more trouble.

I did not gloat or give any indication that I noticed such. "You will now put the safety back in place." I said and they struggled against my command which made me mentally growl and I gave them a dose of my displeasure. They still resisted me their face twisting into a look of hatred while mine remained at peace.

I shifted my hands which made them tense but I only held a mic in my hands at least that's what I seemed to be miming to the untrained eye. In reality or at least astral reality I was holding my sword Love. However my action made the shooter fire out of reflex and only thanks to my quick reflexes was I able to deflect the bullet. However to the shooter and my classmates it looked as if I had just quickly moved my hands and the bullet had been cleaved in two. That is assuming human eye sight is able to keep up with such a thing. Indeed I know that one cannot see the instant a bullet leaves the gun but one can predict where it will go.

Or maybe it was just sheer dumb luck. I'll never know and i'm not about to ask or question why. "WHAT...ARE YOU?" they shouted and needless to say my efforts to mentally control them had just gone down the shitter. They were scared, and my voice however hypnotic it might be wouldn't be enough to calm them down at this time. So I once more took Lady Luck's Dice and cast it into play.

I ran forward moving as fast as I could and as the shooter took aim and fired wildly I slid on the floor the school uniform not having enough friction to stop me from doing such and as I got closer the bullets did their deadly dance around me. I was hit in the shoulder, the right shoulder as I finally got close withing striking range.

I made one slash with Love and then got to my feet. They were seemingly stunned. I kept pressure on the bullet wound. "IT seems you've decided to give up your life. Such a pity, but you won't need it anyway." I said as I rested one hand on their shocked head. They were currently experiencing all the pain they had ever inflicted upon another tenfold upon themselves.

I funneled energy through that single hand and that energy began to devour what remained of their mind turning them into a husk. And the body cannot function without the mind. So it to began to wither. It forgot how to breathe to begin with and the person in front of me dropped at my feet. "Ashes to ashes, Dust to dust, In god we must trust." I said softly under my breath as I to blacked out.

When I came to moments later or at least it seemed to be such to me, I was in an ambulance. I groaned lightly and mentally prayed that my classmates had kept their mouths shut about what they had witnessed but I doubted it. I was going to have a lot of questions to deflect when the police came knocking. "Your awake, thank goodness." said a voice. One that was decidedly female and while I couldn't see much beyond the glaring white light above me. My memory however knew that voice and though I'm sure my voice was barley audible I asked "Lauren." "Who else would it be goofball."

I mentally rolled my eyes then checked in on my mindscape. As expected the others were in a slight uproar and I felt my heart warm from their reactions. I didn't put myself in harms way often, but still it was good to know that someone cared. Sukura approached me as I watched them. "Why did you use my name?" he asked softly moving to hold my hand and check me over as we talked. "I used it without thinking, and besides you and I both know that we both respond to that name. We have for years." I replied to him.

He nodded as that was true then examined my shoulder more closely. "Your lucky, that bullet just missed an energy line." I winced hearing that. "Does it hurt?" he asked gently as he moved to help me to a bed mentally. "Yoshi's tails please." I asked him and he nodded moving to guide me there. The elder kitsune's tails folded gently and protectively around me as I was laid down. I smiled gently at Sukura in thanks then gently stroked Yoshino's tails as I slowly drifted off in the mindscape.

Now for those of you that don't know a body is comprised of an energy system. This energy system is there even if the person is not aware of it. For those of us known as energy adepts or in my case psychics, are able to utilize this system for attack and defense. Every person's energy system is unique so that also means each person's style of energy work is unique as well to the point that it generates what is known as an energy signature unique to that person.

I guess we had arrived at the hospital as I had the sensation of being lifted and then moved about. I assumed I was either in an exam room or an operation room. "White Male 16 years old, shot in the shoulder, bullet still inside, Appears to have blacked out." said an official sounding voice and i felt hands roaming around me. "How did he get shot?" asked another voice. "School shooting, he stopped the shooter, though reports are a bit...well." they broke off and sighed and I decided it was time to speak.

"I can hear you perfectly well thank you." I might have sounded a tad bit annoyed but I couldn't help it. "So you can. What's your name?" "Kyle" I replied and I heard someone scribbling it down. I just simply didn't want to open my eyes at the moment. "Do you know what today's date is?" 4/15/2014" I replied before adding. "So do I pass the mental capacity test. If the next question is math I'll scream." The questioner didn't bother to say anything further so I decided to open my eyes.

I groaned a bit when they thought it was just the perfect opportunity to shove that damn penlight in my face to check my pupil response. They seemed to linger on that for a bit as if startled before moving back some. Now I know my eyes aren't normal. For some reason they changed colors depending on what I was wearing. At least that was the only oddity I had been able to note. That and I needed glasses to see properly which is why everything around me was currently blurry as hell.

"My glasses?" I asked and I didn't get an answer, which quite honestly pissed me off further. I did my best to bite my tongue and control my temper though. My efforts were in vain however as apparently my glasses had been broken though I didn't recall such. So I just closed my eyes again. Everyone was nothing more than floating blotches of color anyway.

They continued to do whatever it was that doctors do when they examine you then one of them prodded my shot shoulder. I put a banshee to shame with how loud I screamed. And I must have slipped some psychic power into my voice without meaning too cause I heard the sound of a body hitting the floor. "So don't touch the bullet wound or someone hits the floor, well done Kyle real smooth." Said Lauren my closest friend in school and also a psychic in her own way.

"Not something I can help Doll." I replied back and she actually growled at me. "I'm not a Doll!" I can imagine some of the doctor's just staring at her and me as our conversation continued. "Please tell me you brought my glasses." "I did but you better behave little boy or you won't get them." she replied and now it was my turn to growl. "You will hand them over Lauren." I said my voice growing quiet but sounding cold enough to make hell freeze over.

"Give me one good reason." she replied sounding smug. One of the doctor's decided to speak up but for the life of me I didn't hear a word they said. I kicked my abilities into gear. "Don't even try." she said glaring at me. I smiled softly as Sukura, Yoshino, and Sam added their own mental capacities to mine. "Alright fine." she said and passed them over which I gratefully slipped them on. |

My world came into focus and I moved to rise. "You shouldn't be moving." I raised an eyebrow. "I do alot of things I shouldn't. For example." Here I held out my hand and focused on my blood itself and the foreign hunk of lead. In my head I heard Sukura's voice say. "That's dangerous Kyle." I ignored him and focused on my blood itself. The scent entranced my nose and I lost myself in it for a few moments.

Then I regained my focus and issued my command to the very components of my blood itself. "Awaken my Flowers." Within my blood they woke forming into their natural forms and around the bullet. My flowers are a symbiote. They are composed of an organic metal or something close enough to that. They found me one day and were curious enough to bond to me. They protect me and keep me safe provided I keep them provided with the nutrients they need. However making them have influence on the physical realm was a horribly draining affair.

With their help however I was able to shove the bullet out into my hand without need for surgery. I was barley able to achieve human thought after such though. So I sat there panting as the doctors said things much to loud. I prayed someone knocked them out and either Lauren had or they had dropped dead. I fervently hopped they had dropped dead. Don't get me wrong I respect doctor's and the like. But they make way to much darn noise at least with them dead there was silence if for a few brief moments.
