Jacques turned around, "Carol, I thought I said that I didn't like this bright white light. It makes everything look so... artificial. Could you please call someone and get it replaced?"

...................

"Uh... Mr. October, sir? Why is there a creepy shadow behind you?" Clingy asked while trembling.

October turned around, "Oh, because that light behind you is out and the one in front of me is on. Kinda cool, though. Alright, what is there to do around here?" Tulip was gone again, and October couldn't stand it any more."Alright, Lexi, come here." She ran up to his side, then he put his hand over her necklace, which was sitting between her breasts. Tulip snapped back to the world.

"Oh, October, I thought we should have a kiss before this, but I don't mind. Here, let me take off my-"

October moved his hand away from the necklace and Tulip dissapeared again. He covered it once more and she was back, "Huh? How are you doing that?"

October picked up the necklace and put it inside of Lexi's shirt, which was a little difficult since it was so tight. Lexi grabbed his hand and stuck it down her shirt, but he had already left it for dead and turned his attention to the problem at hand (huh huh), "You aren't narcoleptic, and whoever told you is a moron. You have a fixation on shiny things, and any time you see them, you go brain dead. Never heard of it before, but it seems to be true. Now, Tulip, what can I do to kill time in here while we're still being monitored?"

The doe was confused, "Uh... monitored?"

"Yeah, see that flood light? There's a camera inside of it. So, you never answered my question."

Tulip was relieved, "Oh, well. Uh... there's a card game that is popular around here. We play it a lot, but I'm not very good at it. There's this kid on the first floor that is a master or something, I mean really. He has all the best cards." October was interested, so Tulip continued, "Well, it's building an army and used different cards to make it powerful or to hurt the other player. Each time you play, you have to put up a valuable card or something and it's winner take all. My deck has a lot of magic soldiers, but they're all weak so I don't last long. I lost some cards, but since they weren't rare, I could easily get more."

Clingy spoke, "Yeah, I don't like to play with putting stuff on the line. It just would make me feel like killing myself if I lost."

"Right... abandonment issues. And you, do you play?" He asked Lexi, who still had his arm hostage.

She was in nirvana, "Uh huh. I like pretty cards. I won a few times, but I don't like to play."

"Good," he freed his hand, "take me to this master. Also, I need to borrow a deck from..." he looked at his friends, "Tulip. Trust me, I'll win."

They took him down to the first floor, constantly warning him that he was going to lose. He heard crying from a room with an open door, and figured that this was the one. A tall, bodybuilder ran out crying like a child who had candy taken away and October put a hand on his shoulder, "It's okay, big guy. You'll live to play another day." For some reason, this calmed him down and he smiled as he walked away.

"Next!"

October and pals walked into the room and he saw a geeky looking lizard with think glasses. He was shuffling his deck, "Oy, we're gonna play a game."

"Yeah, like you stand a chance, newbie. You couldn't-"

"I'll put up $1000. So you in?" He sat at the tiny table in the center of the room and invited him to sit.

"Now, I suppose I need something... here, this card. It's a knight with 2500 attack and defense. I prefer the modern soldiers, they are much cooler. And have more effects. So come on, where's your deck?"

October extended his hand out to Tulip, who put her deck in his hand. The lizard started laughing, but October was calm, "Now, I may need some help with the rules, so I'll ask... yeah, I'll stick with you. Lexi, I will kiss you if you get as many people to come in here as possible."

"Actually," the lizard smiled, "let's go outside, a bigger venue, if you will."

"Fine, Clingy, I need you to stick with Lexi and help her out. I want everyone to see this."

...........

They were outside on a picnic table and had everything all set up and ready to go. The entire dorm was outside, waiting for them to play, and some students were on the outside of the fence. Apparently, Lexi was good at spreading information, "Alright, Tulip, how do I start? Give me the basics."

The witch was hesitant, "You draw six cards, then one each turn. You can place one soldier a turn, and use any number of add-ons and traps. You can only use add-ons on your turn. Uh... I don't have any, but you have to destroy two cards for any with an attack over 2000. Also, all damage that is done over the attack of your soldier hurts you, and you only have 3000 points. That's really all I know."

October smiled, "Good. That will do." He tossed down $1000 on the table as the lizard put down the card. "Alright bitch, let's get this over with. I got some hacking to do."

"I'll go first." He drew seven cards, and before October could say anything, "Since I'm so high ranked, I can draw more cards." He placed a Ground Trooper with 1500 attack on the table and placed two cards face down, "Now, your turn."

October kept his cool, even though all the cards in his hand were weak. However, whether it be dumb luck or fate, he found a unique strategy. He placed a weak Fairy Mage with only 500 attack and 400 defense on the table, then three cards face down, "Well, I want to see how this is gonna turn out. Attack at will, I'm gonna enjoy this."

The lizard drew a card, then placed another Ground Trooper down and attacked the Fairy Mage. October flipped over a trap, which destroys any card attacking the fairies, and the lizard was stunned, "How did you... when did Tulip get that card? No matter. I'll just attack again." he did so, and October flipped over another trap, which exchanged stats on the cards for one turn. The Ground Trooper was destroyed, and the lizard was down 1000 points.

"Huh, funny how I did that with such a terrible deck. Oh well, my turn." He drew a card, then placed a Elf Mage down (800 attack, 900 defense) then used an add-on that made it's attack 1200. He attacked with both of his cards and brought the lizard's points down to 300, "My, my. Mister master over here is sucking pretty bad. This must be embarrassing for you." The crowd was cheering and yelling in support of October, who looked as though he was about to win.

"Heh, I'm not done yet." He flipped over a card, that said whenever his points dropped below 500, he was able to summon a Warlord General (3000, 3100). He then placed a card that made the new attack 3500. "Hah! I'll beat you in one turn!" He attacked the fairy, but October wasn't done. He flipped over a card that nullified any attack and immediately ended the opponent's turn.

"Hmm... what shall I do. Oh, I know, I'll use this card, "Fairy Master," and by destroying the Fairy card, I can put this down." he placed down a Fairy Master (1500, 1500) with a special effect that halved the enemy's attack (down to 1750) and for the coup de grace, he flipped over the card he put down in the first turn, that doubled the attack of any card, but destroy it at the end of the turn (now 3000). "Oh the embarrassment. It would appear that you just lost to someone who's never played before."

The lizard wasn't going to give up, "No! I get an extra 500 points after I run out because of my ranking! You should read the rules!"

October sighed, "More cheating huh? Oh well, guess it can't be helped." He threw a quick solid punch right to the lizard's face, knocking him out cold, "What's this? My opponent can't continue? I think this means I win. Ha!" October put all of the cards back in the deck and picked up his winnings before handing the deck back to Tulip, "You never won because of the shiny cards he likes to use. Besides," he made sure that everyone could hear them, "It isn't the strength of the soldiers, it's how you use them. Now, you three, take me somewhere I can buy these things to make a deck. I need a way to kill some time." Lexi, Clingy, and Tulip were beaming that they were friends with the cool student and took him to the school store by the cafeteria.

He bought a bunch of packs of the Medieval series, then offered to buy each of them some cards. He got a Fairy pack for Tulip, a Civilian pack for Clingy, and a Female pack for Lexi, which he also gave a quick kiss on the cheek for earlier. She almost collapsed to the ground with a heart attack. "Hey, Mr.-"

"Call me that again, and I will kick you out of the room. It's October, got it? Nod your head." Clingy did so, "Dammit, this is going to take longer than I thought, but I suppose I knew it was going to take some time. Come on, I'll buy a pizza. You all go back to the dorm and please don't let anyone up to the top floor, I need some quiet for what I'm going to do." Clingy didn't want to leave October. To fix this situation, he grabbed Clingy, and pushed him into the back of Lexi, "You, go with her. Trust me." he winked as they left. When they were out of earshot, October walked out into an open part of the campus, "So, how long to you intend on following me?"

"Ah, you are good." Jacques stepped out of the shadows, "I saw what you did today, and I know of your past. You are trying to get support, but I promise you that you won't succeed here. I recommend you give up now and-"

"The moon is beautiful tonight, isn't it?" Jacques was caught off guard, "Can you stop the moon from reflecting the light of the sun, from casting it's glow onto the land? Can you stop the stars from shining brightly, from giving hope to those who need it? If so, then you have a chance. If not, then you will fail. All I'm doing is making friends, now is not right for a war. However, if you would like to start one, I'd be glad to finish it for you." October walked off, leaving Jacques to ponder what he had said.

"You know, for a monster, he is very deep. That makes me more uncomfortable than I was before. He is the most sane person in that building, but also the most diabolical. If I push too hard, I doubt he would hold back. But maybe if I wear him down little by little... maybe..."

As October walked into the fenced dorm, he was met with cheers, and even a few banners. He waved with a nervous smile as he made his way up to the top floor. Three doors were open, which was to be expected. Lexi hopped out of her room, with Clingy right behind you. Her eyes were sparkling and she had her hands up to her face (like a cheesy "My hero!" look). Tulip also came out of the room. "Hey, where can I put the pizza?" Clingy pointed to their room, "Whatever."

"So, October, what did you go off and do?"

He smiled, "Oh, I just had a little conversation with the dean. It's not important. Anyway, what cards did you get?" Lexi raised her hand like an eager student then showed him a card with a pink-furred cat on it, "Oh... how, convenient?" She backed of and couldn't stop shaking, "Down, girl."

"I don't want to open the pack, because I might lose the cards." Clingy mumbled.

October was fed up, "Welcome to rehab," he grabbed the pack out of Clingy's hands, tore it open, then handed him the cards, "Even if you lose something, you still have the memory. So you really can't permanently lose anything, since you have it inside your head. This game is a lot like chess, where you need to know how to use your soldiers wisely, meaning sacrifices and things like that. Just remember, each time you lose one, it had a purpose, and it made you stronger. I'll open mine later, then I'll teach you all how to play right. But first, enjoy the food."

They ate together and told October some stories about the school After they finished, October started messing with his computer. He turned the tower around and noticed that one of the USB ports was missing. When he brought it up, Tulip said, "Yeah, they said that these computers came like that."

"Bullshit." He took off the case and saw what was inside. There was a tracking device, like physical spyware. He ripped it off since it was nothing but a USB drive. Then he fiddled with some wires and put the case back on, "Great, now they can't track what I do. This will make things much easier in the near future." He turned around to the three anthros with gaping mouths, "Uh... what?"

Lexi was excited, "Oh my God, my boyfriend is a computer wizard! This is incredible! Do you want to mess with my insides too? Here, I'll take off my panties for you." October slapped his face then sat back with his friends.

"I think I'll just make my deck now." He opened all of the pack he bought and quickly scanned over them. He put a bunch into a pile, then added a couple more, "Well, my theory is that you can't just use brute force like lizard boy, you need to have a balance. Tulip's deck was perfect for his since he had no traps or anything, but against something like this, it wouldn't fair as well." Clingy coughed to get his attention, "Yes?"

"Um..." he pulled a box out from under his bed, "could you make me a deck, please? I don't really have one, but my parents gave me a lot of cards. October decided that he had nothing better to do so he checked in the box and just laughed, "Wh-what is it?"

"Well, these are all chess-related cards. How weird, but okay. Give me a minute. He messed around with the cards for a while as the three watched his every move. October was a master strategist, and he figured that this applied to everything he did. He wasn't far off, "Here, this will get you used to some things. Try to learn about chess strategies and this will make more sense. A lot of sacrificing for the greater good. With chess pieces. Fun stuff. "

Tulip leaned in, "Hey, do you want to learn magic? I can teach you..."

October leaned back, "Tomorrow, I don't want to set this room on fire, nor do I want to go outside to my fans. Don't forget it though. Mmm... I'm gonna try to get some sleep."

"Can I spend the night here?" "Me too?" "Me as well?"

October had to think for a second, "Uh, Clingy, you live here. And as for you two, I guess it couldn't hurt. Bring some stuff over. It's Saturday tomorrow, anyway. Not like we have to get up for anything."
