Chapter 26! :D

Hey there all you fuzzbutts! I know it's been a really long time since I've written anything but I had a random surge of inspiration the other day and made sure this time that I took full advantage of it and with the help of my editor I think I'm finally ready to send this one out. We spent a lot of time fine tuning and polishing this one compared to others as it happens to be a very important turning point in the direction of this story, some of you may catch on and some of you may not. Some of you may be happy and vice versa just the same, but just know that this is all happening for a reason so don't fret. I won't keep you all any longer, enjoy the chapter and as always I'll see you at the bottom of the page. ^.^

P.O.V. : Jasper

We parked a couple of blocks away from the house where the party was being held to ensure that my truck wouldn't be towed away, the walk would be much more worth having to pay to get it back. We laughed and joked the whole way to the party, watching a couple other groups doing the same thing as us; parking away from the party and taking the walk. Before we knew it we could hear the loud party music from down the street. Immediately my tail picked up in excitement and I knew tonight was going to be a fun night. By the time we'd reached the house it was blatantly obvious what was going on there to any random person who drove by. The door was wide open and the scent of alcohol immediately assaulted my senses.

"Hey, if you're gonna be doing any drinking you'd better control yourself, I'm not going to be babysitting a drunk wolf when we leave understand? I'm going to hold onto your keys for the night just to make sure you don't try to do anything stupid." Rachel stated firmly, grabbing the keys from my hand. I nodded distractedly as I glanced around the main living room, the party very much in full swing already causing my tail to wave excitedly. I spotted one of my good friends across the room from one of my classes, a fairly well dressed buck named Drew and walked over to greet him excitedly.

"Hey Jasper didn't think I'd see you here! Where's Elijah, I figured he'd be right on your heels?!" He shouted in my ear over the loud music.

"He decided not to come, he's not your typical party animal." I replied in similar fashion. "

Ah well there's plenty of drinks to go around so help yourself! Just don't drink the punch, I've already seen a few people drop stuff in it as they walked by." He warned me gesturing to the large red punch bowl across the way.

"Alright man I appreciate it, don't get too wasted!" I laughed and elbowed his shoulder.

"I'm not gonna make any promises! Hey dude look, that girl is totally checking you out!" He jerked his head in the general direction towards the main dance area, and nonetheless there was a very provocatively dressed dalmatian eyeing me from across the room.

"She's pretty cute dude, you should definitely go dance with her." He suggested handing me a beer in the process. I popped the can open and took a sip, only to sputter and choke slightly as the watered down alcohol slid down my throat.

"Aww what is this bullshit! That's disgusting dude!" I shouted inspecting the can.

"Hey man we're college students what do you expect?! It's an acquired taste my friend, down a couple more sips and you should get used to it." He replied taking a sip of his own. I grimaced and quickly chugged half of the can, shuddering as the drink dropped into my stomach leaving a putrid taste in my mouth.

"God that's horrible dude." I commented.

"Yeah don't gotta tell me twice man. Well I'm gonna go do some dancing, let loose dude have some fun! You won't regret it I promise! " He said before patting me on the back and departing. I watched him leave before sighing and downing the rest of the drink shuddering again in the process. Here goes nothing... I thought to myself.

P.O.V. Change: Rachel

I departed the dance area panting heavily but with a smile on my face nonetheless, I was having a blast and the party was still getting better as new sets of music came through the enormous stereos. We'd already been here for two hours and I was beginning to feel fatigued, but I figured I'd give Jasper a little more time to enjoy his first college party.

I once again did a quick glance around the room looking for the gray wolf who'd accompanied me to the party. I'd been watching him the whole time, sighing as he downed drink after drink. I could tell he was getting incredibly wasted as he stumbled around the main room shouting loudly and laughing hysterically, he was an obnoxious drunk and I wondered how I was going to get him home without too many issues.

I grew slightly concerned when I didn't immediately spot him but I assumed he'd probably gone to the bathroom to throw up, which was the first place I decided to check. When I didn't find him there though I began asking around. Grabbing the closest person I saw, a well-dressed buck who also looked as if he'd had one drink too many.

"Hey!" I said grabbing his chin and directing his glossy gaze towards me.

"Why hello there beautiful!" he slurred in response. "Where have you been all night?" I sighed and ignored his remark as I knew he probably was going to be too drunk to answer but I asked anyways.

"You wouldn't have happened to see a tall gray wolf walking around here did you? Blue shirt, been drinking all night been stumbling around all night more than likely drunk off his ass?" I described his behavior best I could hoping he would have seen him. He seemed to draw a blank for a moment before his eyes lit up.

"Oh you mean Jasper! Yeah he went upstairs with the cute girl who'd been eyeing him up just a little bit ago! I wouldn't go up there though, they're probably..." He paused and placed a hand on his hip and jerked his hips a couple times, a universal sign for "getting it on." My eyes widened and I immediately released him and raced towards the stairs, pushing past multiple party goers out of the way as I shoved my way up the crowded stairwell.

Multiple doors greeted me and my eyes darted wildly around as I tried to guess what room they could be in. Taking a chance with the closest door I threw it open and had to cover my eyes when I was met a few furs getting it on, typical of any normal stereotypical college party as I apologized and slammed the door shut. I repeated the process with a couple more doors before I finally threw one of the last doors open and cringed in surprise and shock as I walked in on yet another coupling, ready to slam the door again as I heard the noisy moans and yips but froze as I caught Jasper literally with his pants down.

I was paralyzed as I watched the wolf's sloppy thrusts abruptly stop as both canine heads whirled towards the open door, Jasper's face turning red as his lust quickly began to turn into embarrassment and shame. Seeing me standing in the doorway must have pulled him from whatever trance he was in as he quickly started pulling his pants up, his clothes having pooled around his ankles in the process of the activity. The female dalmatian immediately did the same and shoved past me through the open door as I watched slack-jawed as the wolf tried to shove his junk back where it belonged and begin to explain himself.

"R-Rachel it's not what it looksh like I swear!" He said, his words incredibly slurred as he grabbed his shirt that had been tossed aside as well. I felt my rage begin to swell inside me and I let him have it.

"I warned you! I fucking warned you Jasper and this is the shit you pull?! You've got another person back on campus who loves you terribly and this is the shit you do to him?! You've got another thing coming for you let me tell you, asshole." I blindly shouted, surprising myself when I slapped him in blind fury before turning tail and walking towards the door, stopping just short to face him again.

"I knew I shouldn't have trusted you after the shit you tried to pull before." I spat out the words like poison. "You're nothing but a lying, dirty, manipulative mutt and you don't deserve someone like him." Satisfied with the shattered look in his eyes I stomped down the stairs and stormed out the front door, shoving other drunken furs out of the way in my rage. I could hear him shouting behind me to wait, how he was even able to walk was beyond me.

"Rachel pleashe! I'm sorry pleashe don't tell him!" He pleaded.

"Why the hell are you apologizing to me?! I'm not the one who's going to be feeling broken when he finds out about this am I? You can find your own way home, jackass." I shouted angrily at him.

"Rachel please, please please..." He pleaded almost sobbingly. I felt a pang of sadness for him but it was immediately replaced by the rage of the moment once again as I approached his truck. I jumped into the vehicle and started it up, peeling off as I raced back to the dorms. Glancing through the rearview mirror I watched the wolf stand helplessly in the middle of the road as his ride drove away. It was a very short drive and I trusted that even in his drunken state Jasper would be able to find his way back.

P.O.V. Change: Elijah

I laid lazily in bed as I waited for my friends to get back from the party, suspecting I would likely have a slightly intoxicated wolf to deal with when he got home. Just then I heard knocking on the door grabbing my attention. Glancing at the clock I cocked my head confusedly, wondering who would be wanting to visit this late. Hopping out of bed I quickly pulled on a pair of gray sweatpants and opened the door. I was surprised to see Rachel standing there, even more surprised when I didn't see my wolf behind her.

"Hey, where's Jasper?" I asked curiously. Seeing the hurt look in her eyes I grew concerned as I pulled her inside. "What happened? Rachel what happened?" I asked worriedly, sitting both of us down on the bed. She sighed shakily and opened her mouth to speak, looking almost pitifully at me before hesitating. "Rachel please... what happened?" I asked again.

"Jasper got really, really shitfaced. And when I tried to find him I couldn't." She started. I immediately grew concerned thinking he'd gotten arrested or something because he'd gotten out on his own. "And so I started asking around if people had seen him, and they told me he'd gone upstairs. And when I found him... he was on top of this skimpy little Dalmatian, just completely in the moment with her... " I sat there and processed her words for a moment, my heart clenching sadly as I understood her words.

"He did that...? With her...?" I asked sadly, immediately getting a nod out of her.

"I walked in on them right in the middle of it . Elijah I'm really sorry I am." She said grabbing my thigh and squeezing it. I nodded sadly, tears threatening to spill from my eyes.

"But wait, where is he then? He should be here explaining himself." I commented, searching my fox friend's face for answers.

She grimaced slightly, "I might have gone off on him... and I left him there because I was so mad at him, I'm sorry Elijah." She replied.

"You left him there?! As drunk as he is I would rather you had brought him back with you! Rachel what were you thinking, he could get hit by a car or something! We need to go find him, now!" I exclaimed as I jumped out of bed in only my sweatpants and ran out of my room with the vixen close behind me, mind racing with various emotions; anger, worry, upset and generally stressed.

I dashed across the grass towards my truck only to realize in my rush I'd forgotten my keys. Swearing under my breath I turned to start heading back towards the dorm when seeing my predicament Rachel pulled Jasper's keys from her pocket and tossed them to me directing me to where she'd parked his truck. We veered out of the parking lot retracing Rachel's steps back towards the party. We searched for nearly 30 minutes before I spotted a stumbling figure walking down the sidewalk on the other side of the road, clearly having trouble staying on its feet.

"There he is, we'll have to U-turn to get to him hang on." I explained as I whipped the car around on the empty street being late at night. I honked the horn twice to get his attention, watching the wolf sluggishly whip around, eyes wide and glossy with alcohol causing me to sigh with bitter disappointment. How could he have let himself get that bad?

Throwing the hazards on I jumped out of the car and ran up to the taller male to hug him tightly. I was trembling with emotion from what I knew he'd done and was nearly repelled by the rancid smell of alcohol on his breath, but feeling his strong arms wrap around me I couldn't help but sigh with relief that he was alright. We stood in silent embrace for a few seconds, his fingers gently brushing through my gray back fur as if he were already trying to make up to me.

Tensing with anger I decided not to give him the benefit of the doubt. I disengaged from the hug quickly and glared up at him, observing his folded ears and drunken expression. He frowned down at me before opening his mouth to speak.

"Elijah I-"

I cut him off. "Save it Jasper," I snapped harshly, "you're gonna sober up first before you try to start explaining yourself, I wanna hear it from you, not... whatever you are right now." Grabbing his paw I pulled him towards the passenger's side door of the stationary rumbling truck. It was going to be a tight squeeze with all three of us in the front seat but thankfully it was a short ride back to campus.

The entire way back was silent, my mind racing with questions of what was going to happen now. Glancing over to the wolf in question I watched as he struggled to stay awake, head bobbing occasionally and eyes bloodshot and droopy, an expression of what seemed like disgust etched across his face. Rachel wore a similar glance of silent disgust and anger as she glanced at the gray wolf occasionally.

I sighed as I pulled back into the parking lot and cut the ignition off, having to help the drunken wolf out of the raised truck allowing the irritable russet fox to exit behind him. We had to hold him up on both ends, Rachel more reluctantly than I, as the alcohol and exhaustion from wandering finally catching up to him. We entered my dorm without a word and laid him down on his side on the bed, plopping down on my side as I waved goodbye to Rachel thanking her for her help.

Grabbing a bottle of water I frustratedly set it down on his end table knowing his hangover in the morning was going to be fierce, but in the back of my mind I almost wished that he would suffer anyways.

As the door closed I could already hear the snoring emanating from behind me signaling his departure from the waking world, I was far from it however as my mind continued to try to come to terms with the events of the night. I faced away from my boyfriend in question in the darkness as my eyes began to droop, the stress causing a dull thrumming in my head, and in my heart. The wolf's snoring made for simple background noise that eventually caused me to drift off as well, a sleep filled with unpleasant dreams imminent in wake of the conversation that was to come in the morning.

Like I said, a very large turning point in the events of this story. The next chapter is already in the works so I will hopefully have that finished sometime soon as well for you guys, but I will be heading back home and having to scoop up a job for the final month or so before school starts back up so hopefully that will not interfere too harshly. I love you all and thank you for sticking with me through this, I appreciate each and every one of you! Until next time! ~Elijah ^.^
