Ello everyone :)

It's been quite a while since I've done anything on this website, but it's very nice to be back with such a wonderful community. Unfortunately I have discontinued the 7 Months in The Rain story because after many years, I feel that I just don't like writing that kind of story anymore. I know that might not make much sense since this is a love story as well, but I'll elaborate in a future journal.

So think of this as the spiritual successor to 7 Months in The Rain, except it has a bit more of an adult perspective on love and relationships. It's a bit cynical and I like to crack a few jokes, but keep in mind that I love the LGBT and the furry community. It's just fun and a bit enlightening to know that you can poke fun at the things you love.

Anyways, that's it for now, hope you enjoy the first chapter in this new series. ^_^

Chapter 1: Desires

After you turn 21, the numbers afterwards just become insignificant and no future event will ever stand out to others unless you get married, have kids or die like a rock star. Speaking as someone with four insignificant years on his back, it's odd to see the world go by when you don't have the same desires as everyone else. I have no desire for kids, and I have no interest in the other gender at the moment. I swing both ways but I now live in a town where more men will come after you than women. That's the only significant thing to happen before I was 25, I moved to a city called Gaia. Its real name was North Loucester but everyone called it Gaia since it sounded more attractive and vibrant.

What drew me to such a place? Well, as said before, I didn't have the same desires as others and I wished to expand my choices. I didn't have to choose between three foxy women in a tiny little town anymore, now I got to choose from the two billion submissive gay fox boys. I sighed at that made up number because it probably wasn't that far off. Now I stand on the porch of a white apartment complex, smoking a cigarette and still failing to match up with the desires of others. Sure, I could pick up plenty of mates if I wanted to, but what value would there be in that when I just want some affection? Pleasure and sex is nice, but it's all temporary.

I look over the railing to the porch, down at the iridescent colors of the bustling city. It was like this every night, like a pride parade was a daily ritual. I've been here for 3 years and all I could see was the amount of times that I tried to connect with someone, only to have something go wrong. The door clicked and out came a familiar face, someone who could fit my complaint perfectly. The shirtless and unmistakably drunk stallion decided to stumble over to me and beg for a smoke. This shambling mess was Damien, and unfortunately I slept with the drunkard. One year ago, I was wandering around the apartment and met the new manager of the building, Damien, we chatted for a while and he even offered to take me out on a date. Things were going very well and I thought I had finally met someone to care for, and then, after we had sex, he decided to tell me he was in a polygamous relationship and wanted to invite over his 3 other mates. Enraged, I left and never bothered responding to his pleas. Now here he is drunkenly telling me that I was the most fun one he had in a long time. I halfheartedly responded with things such as "is that so" and "uh-huh" since he was repeating himself like I was deaf. His hand starts hovering down my chest but I swatted it away before he had a chance to enact his plan. He looked like he was about to start whining but then a fox in a towel came out and beckoned him back inside. I don't know how many partners he has now, but I know all too well on how loud they can all be from two floors down.

I take a few more drags and stomp on my cigarette, mocking myself for getting into such a bad habit, even if it was only on the weekends and bad days. I walk inside and lock my doors, sighing at the empty, blue suite. This place is enough to hold two families if you organize everything in the right way, and I almost expected to be sharing this with at least a friend by now, but strangely enough, even my gay friends didn't take the same steps that I did and they stayed in that rustic town where teeth are in more demand than security officers. Checking my watch, I grab my apron and head for work at the late night diner called "At the End of the Rainbow".

When you live in a town filled to the brim with LGBT furs, you see a lot of interesting faces working at a late night diner. My co-worker for the night, Germaine, came from a small town as well and decided to move to Gaia to meet an internet girlfriend.

"How's that working for ya?" I said while cleaning the counter.

"Doing alright now, we got over the awkward phase of this kind of relationship."

"Well talking online and talking in person are two completely different things."

She laughed and nodded. "Wise words from a wolf with a dry bed."

I rolled my eyes and walked behind the register for the dozen or so customers about to come in. It didn't matter what day of the week it was, ravers came into this place for munchies and Germaine. With hair colored so vibrantly and piercings so prominent, it's not hard to see why Germaine is so well known amongst these party lovers. The ravers today were high as kites and happily paid for seconds and thirds of just mashed potatoes and green beans. I laughed to myself, wondering if they'll remember any of this in the morning or if they'll all scream to themselves when they find out their wallets are much lighter than before. Germaine chatted up with all of them and the topics discussed became random and nonsensical instantly. After they all leaved with full bellies and wobbly legs, Germaine went to wipe down the tables and sing to herself.

Sleeping beauty,

Don't be afraid,

I'll hold you tightly,

Under the setting sun,

Under the rising moon,

I'll hold you tightly,

Like you deserve,

You're so comforting,

I want to, do the same for you,

"Good to see you're happy with Amber." I said, staring out the window at the luminescent moon, shining its light over the dark buildings filled with purple lamps and blue walls.

She turned around and donned a mischievous smile. "So Leon, where is this boyfriend you keep looking for?" The curious feline slams her paws on the counter and stares me directly in the eye.

"I'm not looking for a boyfriend." I push her paws off the counter. "I'm just waiting for a decent relationship, that's all."

"Oh?" The tone of her voice rose significantly. "So you're going to wait for Mr. Perfect? Come on Leon, you need to go out there and find it."

"Everything has its time." I retorted. "And I'm a patient man."

"But that's just weak, and sad!" She cried, grabbing onto my arm. I was about to pull my arm away in an instant, but the bell on the door rang and Germaine let go instantly. I looked at the figure coming in through the door and was shocked at his appearance for I had never seen one of his kind before; dark blue skin with a kind of scaly texture, little horns extruding from what appeared to his spine and a tail that must have been three feet long. He bore eyes of differing colors, purple and blue, and wore what appeared to be a specially tailored suit. What was he? Whatever he was, he was certainly interesting to look at.

"Um, I'm sorry but did I come at a bad time? Are you closing for the night?" He spoke, in a baritone voice.

Germaine remained quiet so I broke the silence the best way I could. "No, no, sorry, we were in a bit of a d-disagreement. W-what would you like sir?"

He smiled and sat down at the counter right across from me. "Some mashed potatoes and carrots would be nice. It's been such a long day."

Germaine finally snapped out of it and said "On it!"

I processed the transaction and tried to appear social but had a strange desire to not look him in the eye. Am I nervous? Why? He clearly means no harm.

"So what brings you to this part of town? Can't say you look like a raver." The more I looked at him, the easier it became but a strange discomfort kept rising in my stomach.

He laughed and said. "No, I have no time for parties anymore. I was at a meeting for a school just north of here. The LGBT club wanted to have a field trip here and I was out getting it approved. "

"Oh, how nice. That must have taken quite a bit of effort. Are you on the education board?"

"Oh no, no, no, no." He replied with humility. "Far too young for that, I'm just a physical education instructor at the time being. I only went to the meeting because no one else seemed to support it."

"Well it shows that you care for the students, and that's admirable." And at this moment, I seemed to have no control over the words coming out of my mouth.

"Hehe, you give me too much credit but the compliments are certainly not unwanted." Germaine served him his dish and the customer was still eager to chat up with me, despite the bags forming under his eyes at this late hour. Even though Souhou isn't that far from Gaia, the town has an unnatural hatred towards gay furries and maybe the idea of bringing high schoolers here just infuriated a lot of instructors at the main schools; which makes what this person did all the more impressive.

The second most pressing question just needed an answer, so I asked: "What's your name?" and then the third "Will we be seeing you more often?"

"My name is Tristan Amana, and you are?"

"Leon Farran, it's nice to meet you."

"You as well." He said, shaking my hand. "You probably will see me more often in the daytime for the next two weeks. I have a few more meetings before the actual parade starts, then I'll be here for an entire week."

"Quite the busy month ahead of you." I replied.

He nodded and finished up his meal. "Thank you for your service. I hope to see you two soon."

Germaine and I waved and wished him a good night before he drove off in his black car into the night.

"Never met a dragon before." Germaine stated.

"Wait...that was a dragon?!?"

She laughed and patted me on the back. "Yeah, we don't see too many of them. They're usually an eastern species."

She has a point; Gaia was probably one of the best places to meet a myriad of different people, because in many parts of the world, it's not very diverse: many towns with only foxes, or wolves or tigers. Here it's tigers, wolves, cats, foxes and a few others.

"Hey Germaine."

"Yes, Leon?"

"Mind I get the day shift next week?"

She giggled and rested her paw on my shoulder. "Well of course."
