"Hello, may I speak to Principal Jacques, please? Tell him it's Dan."

"Hey! Dan! It's been a long time! What's going on over there in the sane part of the world."

"Well, remember when I saved your life from that burning wreck on the highway? Well, I think I need to call in that favor."

There was a sigh on the other end of the phone, "I was afraid of that. Tell me, how can it be this serious? You live in a nice part of the country, you shouldn't have to ask any favors of me."

Dan was too determined to back down, "Yes, I do. There is a student here, he's unlike any other. I heard him mumbling in the hallways the other day about how slow everything was moving. Then, for no reason, he pulled three fire alarms. All within seconds of each other and disabled the electric locking mechanisms on the doors so no one could get out. I was at the front door, trying to tackle it down. I turned around for a second, and I saw him, standing under a sprinkler with his arms crossed, and I could swear he said 'this is much better,' then he walked away. I need some help here Jacques. Your school specializes in these cases."

"I guess I have to, don't I? Tell me, what's his name?" There was a silence on the other end of the phone, "Hello?"

"Sorry, I thought he was about to wake up. He goes by October, but that's all we know about him. We don't even know where he lives."

"Did you say something about waking up?"

"Ignore it. So I'll send over his information. Hell, I'll even send him over. Free of charge. Nice doing business with you." Dan hung up.

"Hello? Dan? What the hell is wrong with him. He's the counselor, he should be able to handle this thing. Oh well, guess I need to find him a new dorm. Carol? I need to find an empty dorm room. And we should be expecting a package from Westbrook High School sometime soon, so keep me informed. I'll break this kid, just like the others."

"Um..." came Carol's voice over the intercom, "sir, the package seems to have arrived. You might want to come out and see this for yourself."

Jacques was confused, as he was just on the phone with someone who was over three hours away. Curiosity go the best of him and he walked out of his office and went to the front doors. Students stopped what they were doing and stared at him. He was sure to make them fear the leadership of the school, and wasn't afraid of dishing out harsh punishments. As he walked through the front doors, he saw a trail of dust in the distance, a small cardboard box, and an unconscious body. "Oh my God!Carol! Get the nurse, quickly!" Jacques ran up to the unconscious boy, who was about 17 years old. He was human, about six feet tall with shaggy dark green hair, "Hey, kid, are you okay? Answer me!"

The boy groaned, "Ugh... I gotta stop waking up like this. It can't be good for my health. Where am I?"

"You're at the Slavprot School for Those with Special Needs. Are you hurt? Do you need any help?"

"Name's October, not kid. And no, I'm fine." he stood up and brushed himself off. He reached behind his neck and yank on something, then showed it to Jacques, "Huh, they decided to go with the Model III with the diluted neurotoxin, clever. I don't have a resistance to that one. Gotta hand it to Dan, he got me good. Well, might as well get to know my new home. You the welcoming committee?"

Jacques took a few steps back, as he just realized that Dan was talking to him while waiting outside of the school. The nurse ran out of the building, but Jacques waved her off, "It's nothing. Just forget about this. Oh, before you go, fetch Clingy for me, please? I believe he needs a new roommate."

October leaned over to get a better look at the nurse, "Okay, but I still say the nurse at my old home was much hotter. Funny how you have her trained like that. So, I guess my supplies are in this box?"

Jacques was angered, "Now listen up, child. This is my school. You will follow my rules and you will respect the authorities here, understood?"

"Yeah, and I have a million dollars and a supermodel wife. Just kidding, but you can't win me over with that bedside manner. Hm?" A spindly canine was escorted out of the building by the nurse. He was small and looked really nervous, "So, shaky here my new roomie?"

"Ah, Clingy, I'd like you to meet your new roommate, October. If you would be so kind as to show him around, it would be much appreciated." He shook his head then walked up to October's side and said nothing, "Now October, please walk with him and learn of your new home, because you will be here for a while." Jacques walked away smiling, hoping that he had shaken October up a little.

Of course, October could care less. He picked up the cardboard box and turned around, to find that Clingy was right behind him, "Uh... yes?"

"Oh, uh, let's go around the school, if you want to, we don't have to..." he never once made eye contact.

October sighed, "Let me guess, Clingy isn't your real name."

"Right, but that's what people call me. It makes them happy, so I don't mind. I have this thing where I need to be close to people. If I'm not, I go suicidal and try to kill myself. It's weird, well not really, do you think it's weird?" he was talking very fast.

"Whatever, sidekick. Let's just take a little tour around the school. Take me to the room first, I don't feel like carrying this stuff all day." Clingy led him through a narrow walkway that was mostly overgrown grass and tree roots. Eventually, they arrived at a large brick building with no sign, seemingly isolated from the rest of the campus, There was even a fence around the perimeter of the grounds, which was slightly odd, "This path is a fast way to get here. To get in the building, you need your ID card. Do you have one yet?"

October rifled around in the box and pulled out a red card with his picture on it, taken when he was knocked out, of course, "Huh, they thought of everything. Hope they like the surprise I left them. A little... going away present, if you will."

Meanwhile...

"What's going on?! What the hell is making that sound?!"

"I don't know, something is weirded out in the intercom system! It won't go off!"

"Dammit! Just shut off the power!"

Back at Slavprot...

"Heh." They walked up to the gate and October used his card to unlock it. They walked in and eventually up to the building, where he had to use his card again. Clingy took him to the elevator, and up to the top floor. They walked to the end of the empty hallway and Clingy opened the door. The room was large, had a refrigerator, a bathroom, two beds, two desks, a window (with steel bars), and two top-of-the-line computers, "Sweet."

"That computer is yours. They give one to every student. Make sure to set it up like you want. I sleep on this side of the room, unless you want to. I can move my stuff."

"Calm down, spaz. I'll use this empty bed. By the way, that uniform you're wearing, it's not required, is it?" Clingy looked away, in an attempt not to say any bad news, "Damn. Guess it can't be helped yet. I'll figure something out." October unpacked his things, then noticed a piece of paper, "Huh, he even found me a schedule. How nice. Well, shall we?" October quickly put on most of his uniform, a thin gray jacket and gray slacks with brown loafers, then urged Clingy to take him around the school.

They went to the cafeteria, the hallways by major (or as Clingy put it, by "crime"), certain offices, the field, the gym, and finally, to the classroom October was to attend, which by chance, was also Clingy's next class. In fact, their schedules matched up perfectly. October took a seat near the window, and Clingy sat beside him. As more students started to show up, a particular feline walked in. She had pink fur, and her uniform was a size too small, truly revealing her fine body. October didn't even take notice. She walked over to the other side of the classroom, but was caught by surprise when she saw him. Instantly, she ran over and sat in front of him. She turned the chair around, "Hey! You... you're a new student... you are really hot. Do you want to be my boyfriend?"

October moved his eyes up to look at hers, then said, "No thanks."

That was not a good answer to give, "My name is Lexi! What's yours?" October didn't give an answer, so she turned to Clingy, "Hey, what's his name, meat?"

"Uh... October, ma'am."

October sighed, "Way to give up info, man. You've got a lot to learn."

"Wow! Your name is October! That is so mysterious... and sexy. So where are we going out on our date?"

October turned his entire head this time, "Uh... we aren't in a relationship. So, drop it."

Lexi leaned back, "Oh ho ho! You are so funny. So is eight fine? I have a late class, so we'll have to wait a little while. Hell, let's have a date right now!"

An announcement on the intercom, "Attention students, we will be closing campus early today. Please return to your dorms and await further instructions.

"Saved by the bell. But, do we really have to go back to the dorms?"

Lexi turned around, her energetic self was now all gone, "Yes, or we get punished. Although, if we get punished together it wouldn't be so bad. What do you say? Want to get in the Box together?"

October stood up and walked out of the class, both Clingy and Lexi in tow. He shook his head to try and wake up some more as he made his way through the grassy path. He went up and unlocked the gate as he heard a happy scream, "You're in this building too! Oh my God! Oh my God! This is so incredible! We can see each other every day now!"

October looked up at the sky, "You are really starting to piss me off, ya know? Ugh... huh? Who's that?" A cute doe (female deer, for those who don't know) was wearing a robe and a pointed hat, dancing around a table in a circle.

"Who's who?!" Lexi sounded as though October was cheating on her, "Oh, that freak is our resident witch. She's the only one who can use magic here, so we don't like to talk to her."

"Did you just say... never mind. Let's go say hello." October walked over to the doe, who was startled by there presence. She raised a stick and pointed it at them, "Hi, I'm October. Nice to meet you."

She lowered the wand, and spoke in a beautiful voice, "I'm... Tulip. Don't you... aren't you going to hurt me?"October raised an eyebrow, then turned around and saw that Lexi and Clingy were both angry, "Oh, I understand. I won't fight back."

"Hey, either of you two even think of hurting you and I will show you the true meaning of pain. There, we good?" The doe nodded at this strange human, "So, magic. Real magic or religious magic?"

She made a fireball at the end of her wand, "Real. It's very common around here, I'm surprised you haven't heard about it. I could teach you a little sometime." she blushed.

"Maybe. But for now, friendship is a good start. Since you seem relatively sane, what's the deal with Lexi, and why are you here?"

Tulip looked at the feline, who was infatuated with October, "She has a way of becoming a stalker really fast, and she doesn't give up. Me? I... I..." Tulip was off in her own little world. October snapped his fingers in front of her face after a minute and she came back, "I think I' have a form of narcolepsy, in which I go off and daydream randomly. It only happens a few times a day, but it can get really annoying and sometimes I wake up really angry. But, you seem nice. Why are you here?"

He laughed, "That depends on who you ask. I've been called many things, I like 'Chaos Incarnate' and 'Pure Evil', but I don't have a condition. I know that I was drugged and sent here in what I believe to be an armored vehicle, but that's all I know. Come on, we have to go back to the dormitory."

"Oh, I know. I was attending class from here, listening to the teachers and all that. I need to go to the top floor, could you help me with my things?" October nodded and picked up the table.

"Hey," Clingy whispered, "Why are you being nice to that witch? She's evil." Lexi was in agreement.

October laughed as they all went to the top floor, "Better to have strong allies than none at all. I don't want to alienate anyone yet. My plans often have many parts. Odd, though, how we all happen to be on the same floor."

Lexi responded, "Yeah, we're the only ones up here. This is where they put the ones who are dangerous to the entire school. I have no idea why I'm here, though. Maybe I'm just so hot that they have to keep me away from the population to stop a riot."

When October helped put Tulip's things down, he looked out of the window, "Oh, this is just too easy." There was a balloon that said "Die Psychos," and October couldn't help but laugh, "They're afraid, and the dean is a masochist. Beautiful. I can't wait until they learn what I've done, then they will have a reason to be afraid. You three are my friends here, so I can guarantee with some certainty that you will be kept safe. However... those who stand in my way won't be so lucky." There was a shadow coming off of October that freaked the others out.

The dean was staring out of his window, "So, he sent me a true demon. I suppose I need to test myself, I did think I was beginning to get soft." Carol handed him a report, "Thank you. Ah, I see he has made friends with a stalker, a cling-on, and a dysfunctional mage. He isn't even putting up a fight. I'll break him within the week." A white shadow was coming off of him.
