As I was leaving work that same day, I found out that the storage facility where I kept my hoverbike was robbed.  Yep, robbed for the first time ever since I signed my life away to the big, bad media.  Naturally, any other person wouldn't be concerned.  Why?  Because they wouldn't be caught dead owning a hoverbike.  Why use a vehicle when the Grid gets you there (literally) in a flash? It was with powerful thoughts of the "good 'ol days," swirling in my head that I stepped into the machine programmed with the exact coordinates of my Home Gateway.  When my eyes adjusted from the blinding light of instant-travel, I realized that I was indeed home - or what I deemed "home" back in my college years. There I was, staring wide-eyed at my one-bedroom (really messy) apartment. My heart immediately began to race and I felt panic set in.  Was I dead and this was my idea of what heaven should look like?Stumbling because my entire body was shaking, I moved toward the battered sofa in the living room, and collapsed onto it.  As I tried to get my breathing under control I allowed myself to look around the room.  Familiar feelings of calm and happiness combined with panic and terror filled my body as a I relived my memories in real-time.And then my eyes settled on it and my heart dropped to the floor.  Humming faintly, the prototype Connector stood in the corner of the living room, as if it were mocking me.My initial feelings of fear and shock began to subside and turn into uncontrollable rage.  I hated that god-forsaken thing the moment I saw the preliminary sketches and notes.  I wanted to destroy them but she was so passionate about it.  I couldn't bring myself to destroy something she had devoted so much of her life to creating. The front door opened suddenly, leaving me no time to prepare to face the person who walked through it.  She closed the door behind her, turned to me and froze.  And then I truly knew that I was dead.
