david's college days part eighteen
Coming home one day from work David and Sarah were listening to the radio instead of cassettes mainly because David forgot the case of cassettes but after a song ended up came an ad for a music festival David and Sarah listened they liked music festivals.
"Howdy partners, I'm a cowboy and in Ely this weekend its the country and western festival, and your all invited to come on down and have a rooting, tooting good time, there's real life cattle to see being herded up and of course the live music of boxcar Willie and Willie nelson so come on down and come as fancy dress or be a square and look out of place it's your choose and I hope to see you there".
David and Sarah knew this was very good they both loved country and western music and so that night they made there preparations for the music festival late into the night.
On the day of the music festival David had come as a cowboy sheriff with all the details on the shirt, and Sarah as an out law with a real/fake gun and looked like she had just escaped from jail she had even made posters for the event, they had even done the car to look like an old western wagon and had painted a horse on the front to look like it was pulling it along good thing it was in poster paint other wise David would have to repaint the car and that would cost a lot plus the poster paint would come off in the wash.
After a long wait in a queue David and Sarah got through the main gate and boy was it a biggie there were stalls of country music, country closes, and country line dancing Sarah and David walked around the stalls and David looked amazement at the big cars and the big horses and took lots of photo's and Sarah looked at the old stuff founded by cowboys and took some photos after an hour of shopping David and Sarah did some line dancing and then got to meet the stars of the show boxcar Willie and Willie nelson and were invited back stage to get there autographs on there photo's and there latest CD's plus they got to see them tougher and dual with country VS western, boxcar to do country and Willie to do western it was a good place to be.
Sarah was also hanging up posters of her were ever she could find wanted posters.
After all that it was time to hit the old bar or in this case the tent, through the tent doors they went it flapped away in the wind, the old piano stopped and out stepped a big man a wanted man Sarah had seen his picture on a bill board where she had put hers and hid behind David, he was more wanted then her, as the man spoke in a deep voice
"This town ant big enough for the both of us sheriff"
David responded with "them's fighting words! Let's step out side and settle this".
The big wanted guy nodded and it time for a show down came on the mike and said
"Now folks if you want to see a real life show down there's one going on over by the bar and don't forget", the man went on to say stuff but no one listened they went over to see the fight.
A small group gathered as David set his eyes on the wanted man the ref stepped in and said
"10 paces each then you turn and fire none real bullets and one of you fall down I don't care witch on so long as one of you falls down".
The group hushed and took photos of every thing and then it was time for the dual.
David and the wanted man stood back to back and began to take 10 steps then after 10 paces David turned but it was too late the wanted man had already turned around and went for his gun and he shot David dead.
The group cheered and clapped but,
David felt a sharp pain in his side and when he looked he was bleeding he felt faint and he fell over but little did the group know David had really been shot and only Sarah knew David had been shot.
Sarah called the first aiders and they were on the scene in seconds and were calling an ambulance for David.
He was hurt bad and he was felling weak and he fainted just then the whole festival went mad and into total chaos every body was running and shouting stuff just then the man came over and handed him shelf in he said he had not known those were real bullets someone switched them he left very quickly and said nothing.
After an hour the festival had calmed down and went back to normal, David was put in the ambulance and was off to the hospital (not in a hour more like half un-hour) and Sarah was following in the car with all the stuff from the festival the car would have never lasted a minute seeing as they had rugby and football fans there first lost and they riot.
After a while David woke to find Sarah by the bed side and looking on in hope and holding his hand, when David awoke Sarah called the on shift nurse and doctor.
In total David had been in a coma for two weeks and was now remembering what happed and after an hour of talk he said
"Who would want to shot me?"
He felt weak and saw on one side and saw the big scar on his side where he had the op and as a gift the doctor showed David the bullet from him and then told him how lucky he was if he wasn't so fat he'd be dead as the bullet would have gone sight though him.
But more to the point who did shot David, who has a grudge ageist David or was it meant for Sarah? All we know is David is safe and well or is he?
