-PREVIOUSLY ON DRAGON STORM-

"Ever since I was a little griffin I always dreamed of becoming a soldier and working along side my father.... But I don't know if I can do it-" May said but then was interrupted by Lazz.

" Listen May, everybody feels sick after the first time they kill someone. Unfortunately, killing is one of those things that gets easier the more you do it. In a war mankind's worst emotions, worst traits come out. It's easy to forget what a sin is in the middle of a battlefield. " Lazz stated.

" But this isn't a war! It's a terrorist action!" May stated back.

" Your just a little jumpy from the combat high. The adrenaline in your blood stream is starting to thin out. Just take it easy." Lazz said and got up off the ground and walked over by May.

" Fine have it your way." May said.

Just then General Andal busted in the restroom and used his G.O.N. to enlarge his fist three times its normal size and punched Lazz in the stomach.

"May! Why didn't you tell me you were being held a hostage by the intruder!!" General Andal said.

"Right and how was I supposed to do that seeing as how I was, oh you know, being held a hostage against my will!"? May said sarcastically.

May was afraid that her father would figure out about her joining Lazz's cause, but luckily he did not find that out. May did her best to play along and make it look as though she was still on her dad's side. Meanwhile Lazz struggled to get up, his vision was a little fuzzy, but he could still make everyone out. Lazz was gasping for air and could not move just yet since he got hit with a powerful force and got sent into the wall of the restroom. Lazz was trying to recover from that hit, but it was no use he was just to strong and with that Lazz fell to the ground in pain and General Andal pulled out his H&K MP5 Machine gun and took aim at Lazz while May took one arrow from her silver quiver and placed it on her black bow and also took aim.

"What should I do now?" May thought.

" Any last words Lazz?" General Andal asked.

Lazz looked up then back down again. There was nothing he could do. He could not think of anything right then. He prepared himself to die. However just then General Andal fell to the ground in pain and had a small charred burn on his back. Lazz quickly looked up in amazement. He could not believe the luck and timing of what just happened. May quickly jumped back and pulled out a silver whistle.

"You're the one from before!" May said.

" Holy shit Jesus! RIO!!!!" Lazz yelled.

Rio was standing there watching his own blood red embers fall to the ground then looked at Lazz. He chuckled a little and then closed his yellow eyes and smiled. He still looked the same as Lazz could remember him. He was a red dragon with black stripes and had skin not scales, however he did have a little hair on his head that had highlights, which made him look handsome. He still had on his carefree style of clothes a Bergende shirt with a black dragon on it and a green vest, and his cargo pants. He also had his Smith & Wesson 9 mm semi automatic handgun out and was holding on to it tight. He wore silver and black fingerless gloves with small metal plating. He was happy to see his partner and his friend after all this time; it made him sway his long tail side to side.

Just then May blew her whistle and almost instantly a giant group of Griffin soldiers cluttered at the door. General Andal got back up and watched as Rio began walking toward him. He tried to punch him, but Rio suddenly disappeared then a few second later reappeared by Lazz.

"Why you! You will pay for making me look weak!!" General Andal said.

" Let's go Lazz! " Rio said as he held out one hand to try and help Lazz up.

"After the last time we fought Rio he should not even be able to move. Just what is going on here? I didn't heal him I got knocked out and just woke up myself. Furthermore, how did he find Lazz and escape from everyone effortless? Something fishy is going here..." Thought.

Lazz reached for Rio's hand and got up.

"Don't worry Lazz! This time I will protect you!" Rio said and stood in front of Lazz to protect him from all the griffins.

OPENING:

I guess I'm just trying to thank you?

Dragon Storm

CHAPTER 14: A Newcomer! Meet the ghost of Dragon Talon island!

Lazz just could not believe that Rio was standing in front of him. He wanted to ask him so many things about how he was still alive and how he made it this far and escaped BLACK FANG so easily. However, Lazz knew now was not the best time to ask such things. They were now staring into the face of at least fifteen griffin soldiers as well as May and the one leading them all, General Andal.

"Stand back Lazz, I will protect you this time!" Rio said confidently.

"Are you insane!? You are outnumbered stand down!" Lazz said.

"Maybe so, but I have to protect you! So don't talk to me like I'm one of your underlings from D.E.O. (Dragon Enforcers Organization) Lazz!" Rio remarked.

"I'm telling you it's suicidal!" Lazz remarked back and before Rio had a chance to say anything else May shouted at Lazz.

"SO IS TRYING TO TAKE ON OUR PSEUDO-CHMERA ADULT ALL ON YOUR OWN!!!!" May yelled.

Lazz was lost for words and shut his mouth.

"So that's what they are after huh?" General Andal said.

"So what if it's suicidal! Listen, they may know our plans, and they may know us, and they may have the upper hand, and they outnumber us in great numbers... but I have to protect you because you're my friend and I'm going to do just that!!" Rio said even more confidently.

"Rio..." Lazz muttered as he absorbed the breathtaking situation.

"Try not to move ok? It looks like they hurt you bad. I promise you I will make them pay!" Rio said.

"This is the second time you have made a fool out of me! I shall destroy you!" General Andal said.

Suddenly, General Andal raised his hand and everyone shot at Rio and Lazz like no tomorrow. The flickered with light as the bullets hit against the walls and floors as Rio was side stepping them all. Lazz quickly jumped into one of the stalls and took cover inside. Meanwhile Rio proceeded to dodge all the gunfire. Rio was moving so fast that not only could no one hit him, but also no one could make him out completely either. Rio had a blur on him every time he moved swaying back and forth. Everyone was beginning to panic and fire his or her guns recklessly.

"Why don't you sit still!? JUST DIE!!! General Andal yelled.

Just then General Andal began to fire his H&K MP5 machine gun. Lazz could identify it just by sound alone. Lazz was worried that Rio was done for. There was no way one dragon could take on that many enemies and walk away the victor. The more Lazz thought about it the more scared he got and slowly became more concerned for Rio's well being.

"There is no way Rio can survive that gunfire. The Heckler & Koch MP5 is a 9mm submachine gun of Germen design, developed in the 1960s by a team of engineers from the Germen small arms manufacturer Heckler & Koch GMBH of Oberndorf am Neckar. It is currently used by the armed forces and law enforcement units of over 40 countries The MP5 remains one of the most widely deployed of all current submachine guns and has been developed into a family with numerous variants." Lazz thought to himself.

However, to every one's surprise Rio was dodging all the bullets from all fifteen assault rifles and the H&K MP5. Rio did so swiftly and finally took aim with his S&W 9mm semiautomatic handgun and fired it at some of the support beams that were in the room. Just then every realized what Rio was up to and stopped shooting and tried to make a run for it but it was too late. Rio quickly shot the last support beam thanks to every else's gunfire that already made it look like Swiss cheese and cause the ceiling to fall in. However, before it collapsed on top of them all Rio quickly entered the stall Lazz was hiding in and grabbed him by his arm and sped past every one and out of the room. As Rio dashed down the hallway he heard every one's screams.

Rio stopped in front of the elevator and asked Lazz something.

"Where should we go now Lazz quickly!" Rio asked.

"Umm ..... The Nuclear warhead storage building. That's where they are keeping him!" Lazz said bluntly.

"Who?" Rio asked.

"Carl Kurotsuchi, He is the team leader of the Pseudo-chimera "Adult" Project!" Lazz exclaimed.

"Ok. Rio said and quickly pressed a button and the elevator door opened revealing three griffin soldiers.

"Rio look out!!" Lazz could not believe what he just saw.

Rio just took aim and fired three perfect headshots at them. They fell to the ground instantly one by one. Lazz's jaw dropped and his eyes widen. Lazz could not grasped how much Rio had improved in just a few hours.

"Let's go Lazz hurry!" Rio said as he hit the first floor button.

"Wait up!" Lazz said and hoped in before the elevator doors shut.

As the elevator slowly descended downward to the first floor Rio examined the dead bodies for ammo and any useful gear. Lazz watched and pondered.

"How come you didn't take this mission seriously before now?" Lazz asked.

"I told you I am not one of your underlings, I'll treat the mission how I feel. I am just trying to survive and most of all, protect you!" Rio said.

"Why is protecting me mean so much to you?" Lazz asked.

"Because I think your cool." Rio said.

"Is that the only reason? Lazz asked.

"Listen, you're my friend ok! That is all there is to it! I just don't want to see you die. Now here take these, they should come in handy." Rio said and gave Lazz some grenades he got from the griffins dead bodies.

"Thanks, some of these grenades are Chaff grenades." Lazz said.

"That's right. It's an electronic jamming device. It can be very useful if you use it right you know?" Rio asked.

Before Lazz could reply to what Rio said the elevator doors opened up and they made their way past all the soldiers silently and with out being detected. They now were back outside and it was now thundering real badly. The clouds were black and the waves in the water crashed. Streaks of lighting could be seen for a spilt second before it fading away and being replaced by loud thunder.

"Looks like a real bad thunder storm is headed this way." Rio said.

"Yeah." Lazz said.

"Come on based on the information we received from my dad it should be this way." Rio stated and lead the way.

"You never want to lead the way Rio... you are feeling rather confident now." Lazz said and chuckled a little.

"If you have time to joke around then you have time to keep a look out for enemy sentries Lazz!" Rio stated.

"Fine... then. It looks like that's the building over there." Lazz pointed and walked toward it with his head held high.

"WAIT, STOP DON"T MOVE!!! " Rio yelled at Lazz.

"Huh? What is it Rio?" Lazz asked.

"Landmines. You would have seen them if you didn't avoid looking down every now and then." Rio remarked.

Lazz looked down and saw half covered landmines in snow. He didn't know what to say. This just adds to the increasing confusion in his head. He almost just lost his life a second time and for a second time Rio saved him.

"I have to thank you Rio you saved my life again." Lazz said.

"It's the third time actually." Rio said and pointed another way and took lead once more and headed toward the building.

"Ok so I forgot when you saved me from Wild Horn, I'm sorry. Give me a break." Lazz said.

"If you take a break I'll leave your ass behind." Rio said firmly.

Lazz followed Rio and kept himself alert for the enemy. They at long last reached the building and walked inside. They were both surprised to see the whole first floor completely abandon. They just walked right to the elevator in this building and descended downward.

"Why do you think this place is abandoned?" Rio asked.

"Most likely they all are else where at the moment due to General Andal's defeat." Lazz said.

"Because without their leader they don't know what to do?" Rio implied.

"That's right." Lazz said.

"No. That's wrong." Rio stated.

"Huh?" Lazz asked.

"This place is not abandoned because of the fall of their General, Lazz. This place is abandoned because no one is left." Rio said.

"What do you mean?" Lazz asked.

"They all died." Rio said just before the elevator doors opened up and revealed a bloody hallway and dead griffin soldiers all over the floor.

"What the hell..." Lazz whispered.

"Look over there." Rio said and pointed further down the hallway. It was a griffin soldier that was up against the wall as if being chocked to death and then he slowly started to turn into ice. He screamed before he died he said " It's the ghost" then frozen to death he fell to the floor and shatter into a million ice shards. The room slowly filled with a mist that made it hard to see, but Rio and Lazz walked forward regardless.

"The walls are covered in ice? How cold is it down here?" Lazz asked.

"What did he mean, "It's the ghost"?" Rio asked.

They both looked at each other in confusion and walked deeper into the mist. They entered a room that was labeled "Carl Kurotsuchi". They both looked at each other and entered the room unknowing what they would find next. When they entered the room they saw Carl Kurotsuchi on the ground crawling away. He was a purple and black striped dragon wearing a lab coat and goggles. He also had long black hair and brown eyes. He had two small horns on the top of his head.

"You're the ghost every one's been talking about!" Carl Kurotsuchi said.

Lazz inhaled a breath of air to blast a fireball, however Rio beat him to it and shot at the ghost with his handgun only to find it blocked. They both looked at one another in shock and expected another BLACKFANG member, but they were both wrong.

"Stealth camouflage? Who are you?" Rio asked.

"Oh... I've been waiting for you Rio!"

" Waiting for me? How do you know my name just who are you?" Rio asked.

" Neither enemy nor friend. I am from a world where such words are meaningless. As such you have something I want Rio, you too Lazz."

"What is it?" Rio said and aimed his handgun at him.

By now the strange creature turned off his stealth and showed himself. He took the form of a half-dragon, half-water demon. His scales only covering parts of his body and sharing traits from both ends of his species. His eyes were teal and his hair was icy blue. It was hard to make the rest of him out with the thick mist that was in the room.

"Only a fool trusts his life to a weapon" the creature said and pulled out his lance that was nicely crafted and where the blade would be there was an ice blade instead, he put it down on the ground and pointed at Rio.

"The last time I agreed to not use a weapon in the fight I got back stabbed." Rio said and put away his handgun.

" Good now we can fight as true warriors. It is the basis of all-combat. Now you and I will do battle to the death Rio. I only do one-on-one's so tell Lazz to back off."

"Fine by me. Lazz you heard him, besides I need you to protect Carl Kurotsuchi over there." Rio said.

"Rio now is not the time to act like a hero." Lazz said.

"Just do it Lazz! Your in my way." Rio said and got into his fighting stance.

"Damn it Rio!" Lazz said and ran toward Carl Kurotsuchi.

"What is this all about revenge?" Rio asked.

"It's nothing so trivial as revenge. I need to do battle with you, only then can my soul find respite. I will kill you or you will kill me... it make no difference. Now make me feel it make me feel alive again!" The creature said.

"Hmph. Your insane." Rio said.

"Aisu. That is my name. Remember it well." Aisu said.

With that Aisu ran toward Rio at amazing speeds. Rio was shocked to see anyone as fast as he was. Rio could hardly make him out with the heavy mist everywhere. Rio dodged Aisu's attack and jumped back. Rio inhaled a breath of air and blasted a fireball at Aisu scattering the mist.

"The mist lifted!" Carl Kurotsuchi said.

"Let's hope Rio can do this other wise it will be up to us." Lazz said as he finally made it next to him.

"If only I could help him but in the condition I am in I would only get in the way." Lazz thought.

Aisu dodged the fireball and formed ice shards with his hands and threw them at Rio. Rio quickly caught one and deflected the rest with it and dashed toward him while throwing it at him. Aisu formed an Ice shield using his G.O.N. and blocked it, however Rio then reached for his black and red sword and sliced the shield in half. Aisu jumped back and formed an ice dome around himself and shot out ice spikes from the dome at Rio and also shot out ice spikes from the ground.

"Damn it! Looks like I have to use it!" Rio said.

"RIO be careful! It looks like he can use the mist to home in on your location so he won't need to relie on his senses." Lazz said as he took a step forward and realized he had stepped on Aisu's ice lance.

A wall of thick ice about a meter wide just formed in front of Lazz to block Lazz's voice from getting through. Rio heard Lazz before the ice wall formed and closed his eyes and his skin began to pulse red. He quickly opened them and dodged all the ice spikes from the ground and only a few ice shards grazed him shot at him from the ice dome. Rio inhaled and exhaled a giant fire blast at the ice dome. It shatters and melted as well as lifted the mist again. However when the fireball exploded and the smoke cleared Aisu was gone. All the ice shattered including the thick wall of ice.

"Rio! Are you ok!" Lazz shouted.

"Duh!" Rio said.

Lazz noticed that Rio's skin was changing. He had never seen Rio fight this hard before. He didn't know what was happening. Carl Kurotsuchi Also was confused and just watched. Just then Lazz noticed cloths just flying in the air. Next Aisu's lance began to float.

"My G.O.N.?" Lazz asked.

"That's right. My G.O.N. is not ice, it is actually the ability to absorb other G.O.N.s and that includes who ever I touch." Aisu said.

"You never touched anyone..." Lazz said.

"I don't have to... If my ice lance can do it for me." Aisu said and formed ice cocoons.

The four cocoons shattered instantly and four ice creatures popped out. They headed for Rio and each one shot an infinity number of ice shards sharp enough to cut through anything. Rio dodged like his life depended on it. Aisu then formed more ice shards and threw them at Rio too. Rio proceeded to dodge them all without getting killed.

"Your planning on making him get fatigued so you can touch him and steal his G.O.N. and since it's a one-on-one there isn't anyone who can stop you." Lazz implied.

"Not bad. When did you figure-

Just then Rio appeared behind Aisu and blasted a giant fireball. Aisu quickly formed a thick dome of ice and blocked most of the fire. He crashed into the wall and the wall shattered and the burn marks left on Aisu's scales ticked him off.

"How did you?" Aisu said.

"You should pay attention more. My G.O.N. is still unknown to me. I would like to say it is hyper combustion or super speed. Or maybe it's both. Anyway, that Rio over there is a fake." Rio said and pointed at the Rio dodging all the ice shards from the ice creatures. Finally one of the ice shards hit him and he simply faded away. The ice creatures roared with pride.

" That was simply a after image of me when I was dodging them. I have been behind you for a while now." Rio said.

"I want your G.O.N.!" Aisu said and dashed at Rio forming ice gantlets with sharp claws.

"I thought only a fool would trust his life to a weapon." Rio said.

"It's not a weapon it's a G.O.N." Aisu said and attacked Rio.

" A G.O.N. is a weapon." Rio said and proceeded to dodge.

Just then Aisu used Lazz's G.O.N. to turn almost invisible by camouflaging himself with the surroundings and proceeded to attack Rio wildly. Rio could not dodge what he could not see or make out his attacks of just his enemies cloths so he jumped back and as soon as he did Rio's arm got sliced most likely due to the camouflaged ice shards he was throwing. Just then the ice creatures headed toward Rio and shot more ice shards and some turned invisible. Rio inhaled a breath of air and blasted another giant fireball and melted all the ice in the area.

"He is learning how to combine his G.O.N.s together, this is not looking good for me." Rio thought.

Just then a gas begins to fill the room and Rio and Aisu stop fighting.

"Looks like you got lucky... I won't rest until I have your G.O.N. Rio." Aisu said.

With that Aisu ran off and exited the room. Rio gasped for air as the battle was over for now.

"We should get out of here. The gas will kill us if we don't leave." Carl Kurotsuchi said.

" So you turned the gas on." Lazz said.

"Yes. I wanted to help, now let's go." Carl Kurotsuchi said.

With that they all left the room and walked some ways before stopping to rest in an office. Lazz used his codec to call HQ and got his hands on a Toshiba computer and quickly logged on to his sever and began talking to his superiors. Mean while Rio just sat down on the ground and held on to his S&W 9mm semiautomatic. And Carl Kurotsuchi just walked over to a vending machine and shook the machine for all it was worth because it ate his dollar.

"I told you I would protect you Lazz." Rio said.

"Thank you." Lazz said.

"Hey,hey! Stop taking out your anger on the vending machine!!" Rio yelled.

Rio walked over to help Carl Kurotsuchi while Lazz talked to HQ.

"What is it Lazz?" Kilala asked.

"I just encountered someone by the name Aisu. Any info on him." Lazz asked.

"Ridiculous. He was said to have died in Tiger wanghu's battle arena." Quicksilver said.

"No. He should have died. But he didn't." Kilala said.

"What!?" Quicksilver said.

"What do you mean?" Lazz said and pulled out his picture and placed it inside the scanner and uploaded it to his sever.

"It happened right before I joined the BLACKFANG's medical staff. They were using a soldier for their gene therapy experiments. My predecessor, DR.Nezbit was in charge." Kilala said.

"DR.Nezbit?" Lazz asked and started to color in the picture using paint.net's program the way Rio's cloths looked.

"Yes. He started the gene therapy project." Kilala said.

"Where is he now?" Quicksilver asked.

"He died in a explosion in his lab two years ago." Kilala said.

"So what about this Aisu guy?" Lazz asked.

"He is a Half dragon breed that was captured when he was young by BLACKFANG so they could use him as a test subject to see if the G.O.N. of a half dragon could match that of other species. BLACKFANG put Aisu in Tiger Wanghu's battle arena located somewhere on the island and forced him to fight opponents endlessly. Until one day he reached his limit and died in combat. Shortly after that BLACKFANG revived him and fitted him with a cyber heart and kept him drugged for four years while they experimented on him like some plaything." Kilala explained.

"That's the sickest thing I ever heard of." Quicksilver said.

"Kilala why didn't you tell us about this sooner? " Lazz asked as he proceeded to color in the Rio picture down to the very last pixel.

" Because it's confidential information." Kilala said.

"Is that the only reason?" Lazz asked.

"................" Kilala remained silent.

"Kilala?" Quicksilver asked.

"I almost forgot, my daughter Tia says there is a real bad thunder storm headed your way, do be careful. Now if you can excuse me I have to get back to work." Kilala said.

"Lazz keep up the good work. I'll go ask more on the matter and find out what I can from Kilala." Quicksilver said.

" Ok." Lazz said and got off his codec and finished coloring in the picture of Rio and logged on to YiffStar to submit it. Once he was done with that he logged off and looked over to see Rio destroying the vending machine. It was tipped over and candy bars littered the floor. Rio and Carl Kurotsuchi were stuffing their face. Lazz got up and laughed. You two are something else. With that said Lazz joined in the chocolate fest.
