AUTHOR'S NOTE -- Don't normally do author's notes, but ... I have to ... for this one. To explain: this episode takes place entirely in the mirror universe (and, therefore, is quite dark). This is not the regular Luminous universe ... not the regular Luminous crew and ... all. It's a look at the mirror side. As we learned through the character of Pyro (who comes from the mirror side), mirror Adelaide was ... well, evil, and killed Field ... when he got her pregnant. Which is a polar opposite to what happened in OUR Luminous universe. I wanted to delve a bit into the mirror side ... show a slice of it. There's enough material here to make several episodes set in the mirror universe, detailing mirror Luminous' turmoil and ultimate destruction, but I ... I'll have to see ... what kind of reception this particular plot-line gets ...

Anyway, I wanted to explore these characters ... that I love ... and invert them. How would they have turned out under different circumstances? Different social, environmental pressures? What if Field's faith, after all his struggles, didn't grow stronger ... what if it got weaker ... and what if Adelaide had decided to free-wield her mental powers ... instead of keeping them properly in check ... et cetera ... anyway, this is a lot darker than I normally write, yeah. Bit different. But the mirror universe IS dark, and ... I wanted to see if I could successfully peek into it ... but don't worry! The regular Luminous universe ... will be back in the next episode! With romance and ... continued plot-threads and all! Oh, and time-frame: this episode takes place a few weeks before "Little Emotional Feelers" ...

"Why didn't you tell him you were in heat?"

A breath. A hot, short breath. "I didn't ... " She closed her eyes. Teeth gritting. Tilting her head ... slightly to the right. "I didn't fucking," she hissed (a whispering hiss), "know." And her eyes opened. And she looked to him. "Fix it."

"Fix it?" Kodiak's eyes widened a bit. "What do you mean? It's done, Adelaide. It's done. You ... you done," he said, in a mock drawl, "got yourself knocked up."

The pink-furred bat closed her eyes. Swallowed. Shook her head. No, no ... no ... not happening. "Fucking mouse!" she growled, launching from her sit on the bio-bed ... and stalking to the wall. Pausing. Breasts heaving. She whirled around, stalking back to the bio-bed. But not sitting. She leaned forward, as if nauseous.

"Take a few breaths," the rabbit whispered.

"Shut up."

"No," was his steadfast response. "No ... it's not to my benefit," he told her ... " ... to have you go to pieces."

She looked up at him. At his body. His fur. His long, slender rabbit's feet. His puffy tail. His waggling ears. "I have better toys," was her baited response.

"But none with longer-lasting batteries," was the doctor's even-keel response. "I don't think this is a toy," he whispered, dangerously close to her ear, "that you want to lose ... "

Adelaide swallowed.

"Now," Kodiak whispered, standing up straight (and backing off a step or two ... for safety precautions). "Now, pull yourself together."

"I'm pregnant," the bat whispered. "Fix it ... fix it ... "

"I don't have the proper equipment," he said quietly, "to safely ... end it. Not unless we go to a star-base. There's a medical facility on Deep Space ... "

"No." A shake of the head. And she returned to a sit on the bio-bed. "No." A pause. A breath. "The wolves run that station. They may be prey, but ... they hold grudges. Long," she whispered, "grudges."

"It wasn't my idea to steal their food and energy reserves ... "

"No, it was mine ... and it got us this far, didn't it? I," she stressed, "have gotten us this far. That bloody squirrel ... " She trailed. Shaking her head. "He was weak. Everyone is weak."

"Except you?" asked Kodiak. Humoring her.

"Yes," was her whisper.

"And, now," he told her, "you're with child. And that makes you ... "

" ... weaker than anyone on this ship." Her eyes held a pulsing fear. A dawning realization. This was a burden. A very, very unwelcome burden. A liability. Being pregnant? On this ship? Oh, a liability ... it would hinder her, and open her flank for attack. Dammit.

"What are you going to do?" Kodiak asked.

"You're not telling anyone about this," Adelaide whispered, turning to look at him. Showing her teeth. "Not a SOUL. Got it?"

"Cross my heart," was the rabbit's response. And he smiled.

Adelaide didn't. She glared. Coldly.

And the rabbit's smile faded. His heart skipped a beat. "What ... what are ... "

"I can cause," she promised silkily, leaning toward him, paws on his arms. She squeezed on his arms with her paws. Digging her claws into his fur. "I can give great pleasure," he whispered ... right into his ear. "But I can inflict great pain."

"Ow ... ow," the rabbit whimpered pitifully. "Please ... Adelaide ... "

Her mind wormed through his. Digging through all his memories. The worst ones. The scariest ones. The terrors. Digging them up and forcing him to relive them ... and using her powers to weave through his mind, pressing the points of pain. Giving him actual (physical) pain. "My ... my ... "

"Your wrist feels like it's broken ... huh? Poor fur ... "

"Make it stop ... Adelaide!" The rabbit squealed.

And, with a satisfied nod, she made it stop. And ... flitted once more through his mind.

"Ah ... ah!" The rabbit suddenly arched, eyes shutting.

"Feels good?" she cooed. Stroking his chest.

"Oh ... w-wow ... "

And the bat tilted her head. And cut the sensation.

Kodiak panted, reeling ... from the pain ... and the pleasure.

"You may have batteries that I need ... but I'm in control here," she assured. "And don't you forget it."

"I won't," the rabbit said weakly. With a beaten-down submission.

"Louder."

"I won't," he assured, voice shaking.

"Good," she said quietly. Nodding. And standing again, pacing. "Good ... " She took a deep breath. "Now ... how are we going to fix this?"

"Um ... " The doctor was afraid. Afraid of what to say. Afraid of failing her. His eyes darted.

"Don't you have pills? Can't you just ... dissolve it?"

The rabbit almost winced at her sheer disregard for life. At the living soul inside her ... days old, but ... alive, and ... a child, and ... the bat's utter coldness. It was an inconvenience. She wanted it gone. And was taking no personal responsibility for the baby's inception. No, it wasn't her fault. Couldn't be. It must be Field's. Fucking mouse, she'd said. She blamed Field ... even though she, as she'd just intimated ... was always the one in control. So, how had this ... escaped her mental net? Could it be that the seducer ... had been seduced? Had Field caused her to let her guard down for just a minute ... had ... what ...

"I suggest you stay away from that path," Adelaide whispered, "of thought." She was reading his mind. Against his will. In his head. "And focus on my problem. Which is also YOUR problem," she assured. "And the problem of every fur on this ship."

"Well, I don't know ... what you want me to do. You're going to have to carry it ... "

"It's too big a risk!"

"Adelaide, I don't know what to tell you!"

"Field ... this is Field's fault. Damn mouse!" She spread her wings, and ... lowered them. Huffing. "I'm going to kill him."

"What?" The doctor's eyes went wide.

"I'm going," she said, looking up, her pink eyes ... eerily red. " ... to kill him."

"What? Why? Adelaide ... "

She slashed her paw through the empty air.

The rabbit whimpered, gaping for air.

"Do NOT ... question me." Another swipe of her paw. Restoring the rabbit's ability to breathe.

The rabbit's heart pounded, pounded ... with fear.

"He did this to me."

"He's your mate," Kodiak rasped.

A scornful laugh. "He's the captain's mouse. He simpers to whoever's in power."

"But ... you mated him ... officially. You ... "

"I needed a fur to drape across my arm at functionaries. I needed an informant ... someone the rest of the crew trusted. Someone who ... could be my ears. I need him, but ... this betrayal," she said, shaking her head in disgust. "No, he'll have to pay."

"Well ... I'm not ... this isn't on my paws. I won't kill for you!"

Adelaide slowly looked to him. "Oh, you would," she whispered. "Believe me ... you would. But not now. No, Field is ... mine," she whispered. Licking her lips. "The mouse is mine. I will deal with him. But I need to cover it."

"Cover it?"

"The mice are close to the squirrels. Neither group appreciated me ... taking control of the ship. The only reason the mice don't rebel is because Field is my first officer."

"That's part of why ... you mated with him? To keep the mice at bay?"

"It's served its purpose."

"But, if you kill him ... Adelaide ... "

"Justice must be served," she said. With cold conviction. "Violence. It's the first option. It's the predatory way." Her eyes burned like a dying sun. Her body ... her pink fur, and her curves, and her winged arms ... her angular, swept-back ears, and her short, rudder-like tail. And her fangs. And her blunt muzzle. She was like a fallen angel. One of the Devil's consorts. Like ... " ... a demon?" she asked aloud. And laughed. Harshly. Right at the rabbit's face. "You always give the best compliments." A toothy grin.

Kodiak swallowed.

"I need a poison," Adelaide continued, pacing again. "A poison that will ... mimic the symptoms of a natural disease. I need to make it look like he died of natural causes. And ... if the guise fails, I need to make it look like ... some other fur did it. It can't be traced back to me."

"I'll see what I have." The rabbit, shaky on his foot-paws, went to his cabinets. He kept a large array of poisons. And used them more often ... than was admissible. "Mm ... I mean, I think I have something. You gonna put it in his food?" The rabbit couldn't believe he was talking about this. Killing Field. Field was ... a lost soul. A lonely mouse ... wracked with anxiety issues. Wracked with mental compulsions. But he ... was empathic. Was very skilled at listening. At absorbing and giving emotions. And his eagerness ... in bed ... was matched by no one. The gentle innocence he gave, and ... the earnestness ... he was quietly seductive. He was slender, was on the effeminate side ... but, oh, so eager to please! Many a fur on the ship would admit to ... having had their best orgasm by him ...

After all, Field was a captain's mouse. It was his JOB ... to please. His job ... to simper to authority. He was weak. The mouse wasn't able to defend himself. And in a cutthroat universe, the only way to survive was to latch to those in power. To those who COULD defend him. The mouse had been Wren's mouse ... and when Field had intuitively seen the shifting winds, he'd ... jumped over to Adelaide's side. Had betrayed Wren. Watched as Wren was thrown into the brig (where he'd been for months ... emaciated, little food or water ... the lights on at all hours) ... Field had betrayed Wren to join Adelaide. Out of fear. Out of knowing ... that she was more powerful. Always, he went for power ... he gave his body, his soul ... in exchange for safety. Oh, such safety ... at such a price.

The mouse was to be pitied. Maybe, in another universe, he would've turned out differently. Maybe, if he'd been nurtured, truly loved ... he wouldn't have resorted to this life. But he had. And ... he'd made the mistake of, once joining Adelaide's side, once becoming her mate (for display purposes ... for it was common knowledge that Adelaide spread her legs for half the ship ... she used sex as a tool, as a weapon ... milking pleasure from other furs ... and gaining their loyalty in return ... always getting what she wanted, and giving everyone else JUST enough pleasure ... to leave them begging for more ... her fangs, her teeth, her mating milk ... it was like a drug; everyone wanted it ... and she rationed it out ... to ensure they wouldn't kill her) ...

But once Field had become her mate, he'd fallen for her. In love. For the first time in his life, he ... loved ... he loved her. And why? Who could love such a creature? Who could love a demon?

But Field was so taken with her ... he only yiffed with her. He knew she yiffed around, but he only yiffed with her. Anyway, even if he'd WANTED to yiff with other furs on the ship, he couldn't. A captain's mouse wasn't allowed. Adelaide wouldn't allow it.

The mouse stayed in their quarters. When he wasn't there, he was latching onto Adelaide's side ... following her around. Speaking in broken little whispers. Tail dragging behind him ... like a dead snake.

And, now, Adelaide was going to kill him. And why?

Because her heat had come early, without warning ... and SHE hadn't slowed down enough to realize it. Because SHE had seduced a lonely, willing Field into a sweaty midnight fuck. Because SHE had gotten pregnant because of it. Because SHE didn't want to deal with the consequences of having created a new life.

Oh, this was ALL Field's field. Oh, fucking mouse!

And Kodiak couldn't stop her. No one could. But the rabbit knew ... that the mouse's death would unleash a horrible chain reaction that could very well end up killing them all. This ship was on its way to Hell. They were all ... on their way to Hell.

And Adelaide's actions would only shorten the trip.

The doors swished open.

Field looked up. Having been languishing on the couch. Sitting, he sniffed the air. Nose going ... sniff-twitch. And ears swiveling. The mouse wore a short, frayed pair of shorts ... nothing more.

"I'm back," Adelaide whispered, silkily ... slinking into the shadows of their quarters (which were ALWAYS dim ... the lights always dimmed). The door shut behind her, barricading them in. Just the two of them.

"You were gone a long time."

"I was busy." She never told him what she did ... or WHO she did ... the mouse had latent telepathic powers. The only other fur on this ship who had telepathy, but his abilities were weaker. Were triggered into activity the first time they'd yiffed ...

The mouse felt at her with his feelers ...

... and she violently shoved them back.

Field blinked, physically twitching from the action. Squeaking in pain.

"You never learn," she whispered. "Do you?" She padded toward him. Her foot-paws bare. She often padded around the ship in bare foot-paws. It was her damn ship. Why not? "You never learn ... but ... better for me, I guess," she said quietly. "I do enjoy," she purred, "teaching you, Field, how to behave ... "

The mouse swallowed. Something was wrong ... something was ALWAYS wrong, true, but ... she radiated more danger than usual. The mouse's nose sniffed. Sniffed. Mice were the most prey-like of prey. He could SMELL ... emotions. Vaguely. He could tell ... he had a healthy survival instinct.

"I've got a secret to tell you," she whispered, standing over him.

"W-what?" he stammered, unable to look at her eyes.

She put a paw on his chin. Steered his gaze toward hers. "Not yet ... not yet, Field." A sigh. And she unbuttoned her pants, sliding them down. They slid down her thighs. Fell to her ankles. She wore black panties. Which didn't hide all that much ... and she eyed Field. Still standing.

The mouse nodded. He knew what to do ...

The panties were slid down ... to her ankles. And she stepped out of the clothing, and slumping her shoulders and arms back, allowing her unbuttoned shirt to slide off ... to the floor. She wore no bra.

The mouse's pupils were fully dilated.

"That looks ... so cute," she admitted (of his eyes). "Wonder why that happens ... "

"Just a ... natural response." He took his shorts off ... bare, now, with her. Fur a simple honey-tan. Born, pink and naked, in a field ... in a litter of four. A humble, rural mouse ... somehow swept into a space-faring life. Through a series of bad decisions ... and to escape the warfare back home. The bat born in the clouds. In one the bats' cloud cities ...

"Natural," Adelaide echoed, "response. Yes ... natural ... there are natural responses," she said, "to all things. We're furs. We're animals. We respond to things ... as nature dictates. Why try to associate any moral or religious standards? Mm? Why put anything in the way of such feral purity. We're predators, Field." She spoke ... with such whispers. Such slickness. And she pushed the mouse to his back ... on the couch.

Field swallowed.

"I know you like to eat my pussy," she whispered, "with me ... on my back. But I don't wanna be on my back today. YOU ... will be on your back. I'll straddle your muzzle. And I'm not getting off," she promised, "until I feel what I want to feel. So, make it good, huh?"

"I ... okay ... " Further words cut off ... as she, legs spread, knees on the cushions, straddled his muzzle. Pussy right at his nose. At his lips. The mouse had a bit of trouble breathing ... her entire weight was pressing down on him.

A muffled squeak ...

Adelaide closed her eyes. Felt the gentle, probing tongue ... worm between her folds, to the pinkest of pinks. The most delicate parts of her. Field had a mediocre tongue. He couldn't get it all that far out of his muzzle. It was limited in its versatility. But he made up for that ... with his patience. With his gentle care. His tongue poked, wormed ... as best as it could. He tried to hard to please her ...

... and it worked. He pleased her, but ... she never let him know it. Never told him ... that he was doing a good job. Never said she loved him. She just ... made him do it. Let him do it. Over and over. Day after day. The mouse was a total sub. Was one of those touchy, emotional ... needy types. He didn't just want physical intimacy ... he NEEDED it. So desperate ... for it. That he'd become a captain's mouse ... to ensure he could have it. Having been burned at love so many times, and ... oh, how had he come to this?

How had it come to this?

A total sub, the mouse. And though he'd been involved with Wren (the squirrel ... another male ... back when Wren was captain), the mouse's greatest weakness ... was pussy. He loved giving femmes oral. Loved being submissive to femmes ... loved, during intercourse, to be on his back. To be ridden. To be ... submissive to a femme. Oh, he would gladly top Adelaide ... loved that ... but, at his heart, he was most comfortable as a sub.

And Adelaide was a VERY dominant personality. She used ... oh, she used furs. And Field's demeanor practically screamed out, "Use me!" The mouse had no sense of self-worth. No sense of confidence.

Field was the perfect toy.

Field ... was a perfect mess.

"Uh ... God ... " Adelaide, starting to gyrate her hips on his muzzle, moaned out.

Field's ears, already flushed with blood, with arousal ... burned hotter ... with anger. The mouse still clung to the shreds of his faith. The shreds of the faith he was daily betraying. To helplessly hear his mate purposely, pleasurably moaning the Lord's name in vain ... was like a little dagger in his heart ...

... and Adelaide knew it. And gave a toothy grin ... and did it again. "Oh ... ooh ... oh, God, Field ... oh, God, yes ... "

The mouse hated himself ... pussy juices covered his nose and lips. He licked at her like a dehydrated dog ... he couldn't stop. His lust and need was too high. He couldn't make himself stop. It felt TOO good ...

... and she wouldn't let him stop.

The fur on her groin was shorter than on the rest of her. And a more delicate shade of pink. And the fur, right around her vulva ... was softer than velvet. Her fur was soft all over, but ... that spot ...

"Huh ... uh ... " The bat continued her gyrations. Continued riding the mouse's muzzle.

Field was pressed for breath. Every inhale ... was a DEEP whiff of her. Her scent. Her juices. Her ... oh ... her ... and the heat of it. And the musk of it, and ... he was sweating. She was sweating, too, and ...

"Oh ... oh ... "

The mouse's eyes were closed. Forced ... to a shut. He couldn't keep them open. He greedily coated every millimeter of her labia with his saliva. He nibbled on her clit with his wet, loosened lips ...

Adelaide arched, spreading her winged arms ... throwing her head back.

Fluid dripped from her vagina ... and the mouse moved to it, trying to stick his tongue in the opening. Trying to worm his tongue inside. But his tongue wasn't long enough. Wasn't versatile enough to push into the muscular tunnel ...

And Adelaide laughed. Through her pleasure, she laughed at his failed attempt ... at his weak tongue.

Field's eyes, though closed, welled with tears ... and yet ... he didn't stop. He didn't stop pleasuring her. It was giving him too much pleasure, and ... he had so little of it in his life, and ...

... she came. "Uh ... mm, mmm ... huh!" Spasms of pleasure ... rippling ... oh ... pleasure ...

Field squeaked, heart hammering, feeling liable to suffocate ... as her vagina squirted his nose and lips. And he lustily drank of her. His mousey penis so stiff, starting to twitch ... drunk on her scent, and ... " ... oh ... mm ... oh ... oh ... "

Adelaide, huffing, swallowing, left her straddle ... went between the mouse's legs. On her knees, panting, and ... fingering herself (wetting a finger), and ... fishing her slick finger for the mouse's tail-base. Bypassing it. Poking at his puckered tail-hole. Slipping her finger in.

Field squeaked in surprise ... she hadn't done that before ...

The finger was immediately ... pumping in and out ...

The mouse raised and spread his legs ... not even knowing he was doing it. It was instinct ... natural instinct ... his tail wormed about in such a trusting, lazy fashion. Feeling so good ...

Just as it was natural instinct for him to squeal in pleasure ... as she gave him head. With a finger pressed to his prostate from the inside ...

Just as it was instinct for him to spread his legs wider ... as her muzzle retracted ... moving to nibble on his tight, furry sac, the orbs inside swollen with seed. Adelaide withdrew her finger from his rump, and used the paw ... to knead those balls. Rolling them about. Huffing, eying them ... instinct ... instinct ... the only punishment she could bestow upon him ... in retaliation for what he'd done ... was to make sure he couldn't do it again.

Instinct ... to bite!

Field, seconds from orgasm, was denied ... the pleasure died. He yelped in pain. In fear. The pleasured haze, the ... everything ... everything bursting. Popping. Brought to a sickening fore. And he heard her voice in his head. Heard her voice ... saying ... remember how I told you I couldn't suck blood? Well ... I lied ... but it's not your blood, Field ... that I'm going to suck dry ...

The mouse writhed ... trying to get away, but she was holding him down. Her fangs embedded in his furry sac. In those swollen orbs. Needle-like fangs, which (moments ago) the mouse had dreamed would ... soon be releasing mating milk into his blood ... those fangs ... she was sucking his seed from the source. All his sperm. A messy task ...

... but one she seemed to relish.

Field weakly twitched, like a mouse bitten by a snake ... was she really a bat? She was more a snake ... she had no soul ...

Adelaide sucked his seed ... every bit of it. Leaving his sac a deflated, bloody ... painful mess. Leaving his penis limp, and his legs weakly spread ... no feeling, now, in his lower body. While sucking him dry, she'd ... released some kind of poison into him, too. What ... what kind of creature was she?

And the bat withdrew, sighing ... " ... mm ... " A sigh. "Really tastes good ... " And a cold stare. "You got me pregnant, you ... fucking ... idiot." She quivered in rage, on all fours over him. The bite below ... had been lethal. The pain he was in, and the blood he was spilling ... and her claws digging into his arms, and her mind inflicting such pain on him ... that he was near passing out. Yet couldn't pass out. She wouldn't let him. "How could you do that?"

"I ... I ... you ... " The realization ... she was with child. His ... and ... his heart broke. He sobbed.

"Oh, just shut up!" Her eyes watered. "Look what you made me do! Look what you did to me!"

Field cried, twitching, eyes seeing ... red. Was it blood? Was there blood in his eyes? He squeaked in terror, convulsing ... pussy, his greatest weakness, had been her bait. He'd walked into her clutches ... lured by candy. He'd been dead the moment she'd walked through that door. The moment he'd started covering his weaknesses ... by hiding in the shadows of the furs in power. The moment he'd started striking dangerous bargains: yiff for protection. Oh, so many mistakes ... but none bigger than falling in love with her. It had blinded him to ... this inevitable end.

"Dammit. Damn you!" Adelaide cursed. She, in her rage, had killed Field ... without poison. The doctor's poison was in her clothing. She hadn't ... used it ... she'd simply done the deed with her own weapons. With her mind. With her teeth. Instinct.

The mice on the ship ... would soon find out.

Adelaide quivered, and ... as Field lay dying, lay weakening ... she got off him, and ... slowly walked the length of her quarters. Naked. Slipping into the shower. Into the warm streams of water.

She was Adelaide.

She had single-pawed ... wrested control of this ship from the squirrels.

Luminous was heading into unknown space, low on supplies, and ... it needed a captain. SHE ... was that captain. A pregnant one. A murderous one.

Mice were no match for her.

Field was a mouse ... and she'd ... well, she'd ...

The bat quivered, closing her eyes, sinking to her haunches. The water running over her. Once, long ago, the hunted ... she was now the huntress. There was no turning back.

No remorse. No remorse, she chanted to herself.

And she stood again. Resolute.

Water dripping from her ears and muzzle and fangs.

She would own this day.
