The Kitten of Fire - medium poem
This is my first collab poem! It's inspired by the upcoming Pokémon games Sun and Moon and was the idea of the artist. I had a lot of fun writing it and I hope you enjoy this litten filled poem too! Written on 6/29/16.

Laying on a desk is the shadow of a cat. Normal in size with strange looking whiskers, That are symmetrical on both cheeks, connected at the base. From the shadow you can see a similar tail. A long feline tail with small spikes at the tip. The cat-like figure opens its eyes. Pale yellow orbs peer up at you. Upon closer inspection you see the pupils. Black and red like glowing coals. The figure now stands and bounces off of the desk, To pad towards you like a normal cat. As you step away and out the front door. The strange creature now stands in the light. You can see he's covered in black fur. A red marking rests on its forehead. Red fur circles the yellow eyes, down to the chin. The inner ear is a soft ashy grey. All four legs are banded red and black. The look in the cat's eyes is impassive, blank. They seem to be calculating your next move. Suddenly he smiles, a blaze of excitement erupts in his eyes. He playfully bounces towards you As smoke begins to ooze out of the feline's mouth. You bend down to welcome him into your arms. He's uncomfortably warm as the smoke thickens, Turning black in the breeze. He'll soon leap free of your embrace. His excitement will cool as he produces a small flame That peaks out of the smoke. Now he waits for your command so you can take him out To train with similar trainers as yourself. He is your companion, your fiery cat, your pokémon.
