Location: Valkyrie â€" Ready Room

"What the hell do you think you are playing at!?" Colin slammed his fist down on the table of his private ready room.

Both Oriyn and Miles stood before him, Miles looked incredibly unconcerned however Oriyn was positively shaking.

"What..." started Colin who looked like he was going to explode with annoyance. "would have happened if there had been a core problem... or you had tripped the entire war effort, not to mention the fate of millions of lives!"

"But..." started Miles looking back at Colin with absolutely no fear. He knew that Colin would calm down eventually.

"I don't want to hear another word!" he shouted, his voice making Oriyn take a step back, so that he would feel safer behind Miles. "Now if you two want to fuck? That is fine with me... but don't do it where it will compromise this ship or this mission! Is that understood!?"

Both Miles and Oriyn agreed, Miles having to physically resist the urge to fight back. Oriyn was paralysed by fear, he trembled on the spot.

"Dismissed!" shouted Colin. Oriyn immediately could not get out the door fast enough but Miles casually lingered to the door.

"Oh and Miles." sighed Colin looking down at a collection of different papers and status reports on his desk.

Miles turned around at the door to face Colin. "What?" he said casually.

"If I ever catch you smoking near the core again... You'll be going in it... do you understand me?" said Colin looking up with a deadly earnest expression.

Miles just scoffed and walked out the room leaving Colin to ponder alone. He glanced over his reports for a few minutes before thinking that he heard something and looking up.

There was nobody there.

Sighing, he figured that Miles and Oriyn's behaviour must have rattled him move then he realised. He picked up a pen and began to write down some additions on the papers.

"All that paper work... don't you get bored?" said a voice causing Colin to look up in surprise. Seeing a strange unicorn-like creature with bat wings laying on the sofa in the far side of the room. She was dressed unusually provocatively, silk draped over her body almost as if it was a part of her extremely sleek body.

Colin immediately grabbed out a handgun from under the table and aimed at the female but with a flick of her wrist, the gun flew out of Colin's hand.

"Who are you and what are you doing on my ship?" he asked calmly. He could not help but be enthralled by her beauty. She was rich and exotic looking, something that he had never seen before and somehow that was exciting.

The girl just let out a short laugh before staring back at Colin with a powerful gaze. "Oh so its your ship now is it, I was under the impression it belonged to the Alexandrians. I am sure that the Asgard will find it very comforting to know who has been supplying the rebels all this time."

The woman picked herself up from the sofa, allowing her long dark hair to snake its way down her back. He silk clothing moving to reveal and therefore still left some things to the imagination.

"You work for the Asgard?" asked Colin sharply. He kept a dominant pose during this conversation but something told him that he should not take this girl so lightly.

"My name is Ultraviolet... and no actually, I don't work for the Asgard. We just have a business arrangement that involves you." She pressed a button hidden on her belt and suddenly the whole ship shook and jolted.

Djynn's voice instantly came over the internal communications system to alert Colin of the the problem. "Captain, we've dropped out of Bifrost... theirs been some sort of explosion in the engine room."

"Acknowledged" said Colin and then turned to look at Ultraviolet. "Your handiwork?"

"No actually" said Ultraviolet looking out the windows in the room to the mass collections of stars that had just come into view. "My associate has dealt with the sabotage. My end of the deal is to keep the Valkyrie here until the Asgard can show up and arrest you."

"Are you serious!?" shouted Colin. "They will destroy this ship and everyone on it."

"Nonsense" said Ultraviolet as she conjured a cup out of purple mist. She took the cup and sipped it while keeping her eyes on Colin. "The Asgard assured me that they would be no bloodshed, apparently the resistance is the ones that are constantly fighting."

Colin could not believe what he was hearing, he stared at Ultraviolet as if she was mad. He walked up to her and looked her straight into the eyes. "The Asgard..." he said with a look of deadly seriousness. "Were the ones that started this war."

Ultraviolet's eyes narrowed, she knew that Asgard were capable of this but she was still suspicious of Colin. "They started this war eh... I don't really care about that, it is my world that I am protecting."

"Your world?" asked Colin with confusion.

"Well.. my dimension... it is the nature dimension. It branches from Yggdrasil, deep at the source of its roots. I am the protector of that realm."

"Yggdrasil...?" asked Colin in complete confusion. What was this woman talking about.

At that moment Eclypse walked into the room with a blank stare. How he had not been seen or caught was a mystery to Colin who knew that security on this ship was pretty tight.

"Mistress Ultraviolet" he said in a very calm voice. "The core has been sabotaged"

Colin was absolutely shocked to see Eclypse again. He never actually knew him in person but he had heard of his exploits in the resistance and respected him as a leader...

But he was dead...

"Good" said Ultraviolet, getting up and walking to the window. "You really don't know anything about the true nature of the universe, do you? Hmph... what a little naive boy"

Eclypse just stood in silence.

"Yggdrasil is life-tree, every soul that dies in this galaxy passes through it. It is the binding force in universe, the Asgard see themselves of protectors of it, they come from a realm which is the source of Yggdrasil which allows them to move around the different "dimensional branches of the life-tree. All life, every dimension is connected to Yggdrasil..."

"Then why are you here?" said Colin, not understanding a word of what Ultraviolet had just told him.

Ultraviolet just chuckled lightly as she smiled out the window, looking at the dense starfield that was in front of her. "Don't pretend like you don't know..." she accused.

Colin frowned as he walked across to his desk and sat down. "No really... I don't"

"Where is the weapon?" asked Ultraviolet. "We scanned this vessel but were unable to locate it..."

"W-what weapon?" smiled Colin slightly, he knew that she was beginning to show signs of the stress. He had the unnerving ability of reading that in people.

"The one that Asgard summoned me here for... the one that could threat both our dimensions... The one that can destroy entire universes..."

Colin just sat in his chair and laughed. "I think you've been duped... As you can see, we really don't have the technology for that now do we. Not when we've been living under Asgard rule for almost a year..." he got up from his chair and raised his voice. "Not when... they invaded our homes and forced our people to work in mines for some ancient crap..."

Ultraviolet looked shocked, she had only agreed to help the Asgard under the condition that these terrorists needed to be stopped before they threatened all the universe. However looking back on events and the technology which the Valkyrie exhibited showed that they were not even aware of Yggdrasil and other dimensions!

She had been tricked by the Asgard. She could just tell herself that Colin was lying but something about him told her that he was not. But something else he said had peaked her interest.

"Ancient crap?" asked Ultraviolet after a few seconds silence and sitting back down on the sofa.

"Yes, they are working our people to death in order to find some lost treasures or something..."

"Could it be?" Ultraviolet interrupted.

"Be what?"

"The five divine treasures..."

"Care to fill me in Miss?"

Ultraviolet let her pale violet eyes scan over Colin. She was not sure if she should reveal such an ancient legend without Colin having the knowledge about Yggdrasil. She had heard that telling people things that they were not meant to understand could drastically alter the timelines for entire worlds.

But to hell with that...

"Millions of years ago, the one true creator created Yggdrasil to be the connecting force of all life. However Yggdrasil was not without its flaws, some of the dimensions became imbued with the light, the others equally imbued with darkness. The creator made five "divine treasures" which would be hidden in one of the realms imbued with either good or evil... A neutral plain."

Colin sat down confused but also interested by this legend. He was listening to things that nobody anywhere in this galaxy had even conceived of.

"The realm chosen..." continued Ultraviolet, stretching her bat-like wings out of her body. "was the source of all life and focal point of all existence. Perfectly in the middle... neither heaven, nor hell. These are were the hidden treasures lay... hidden in celestial bodies, like planets that made up the summoning circle for Yggdrasil to grow again if it ever was destroyed or died. I believe that realm is this one.

Colin was slightly taken aback but still wanted to know more. "What do these... treasures do?"

"Well..." replied Ultraviolet. "This is all a myth really, nobody is actually sure. However the ancient texts say that if the five treasures were ever brought together then the beings that did that would gain unlimited control over every plain, every galaxy, and even Yggdrasil itself. Four of the treasures locations were documents and placed in sacred writings and ancient computer files. But nobody knows the location of the fifth one."

"So is that why the Asgard invaded our realm and enslaved our people. All for this... myth!?"

"Obviously to them" said Ultraviolet laying back on the sofa once again. "It is not a myth and both of us have been victims of injustice against them."

Ultraviolet smiled as she got up. She felt absolutely enraged with Odin... again. The Asgard had attempted to invade their realm under good intentions before but they had managed to fight them off. What chance did these relatively simple people, who relied on technology have against powerful inter-dimensional lifeforms.

"You fight for a noble cause... eh... what is your name?" Colin just smiled and stared at her . Something told him that he had won a friend over here.

"Colin" he smiled. "Captain of this ship."

"Yes" interrupted Ultraviolet. "An impressive vessel to say the least. But the most interesting thing is that huge weapon you have mounted on your ship."

"That is our trump card against the Asgard but we need your help to beat them. Help us... free us and we will help you defeat them anyway we can."

"It's a deal" jeered Ultraviolet who looked straight over at Eclypse. "Eclypse, go to the engine room and return the relays that were removed."

"I am sorry mistress but I cannot do that" said Eclypse in a monotonous voice. He immediately took out a strange looking pistol and shot a blue beam at Ultraviolet which caused her to fall on the floor unconscious.

Colin grabbed his handgun and ducked behind his desk just as Eclypse shot a beam that narrowly missed him. Colin loaded the gun and cocked it, moving just got to return fire before a blue beam shot past him.

"Eclypse... what are you doing!?"

"The mistress failed to show her loyalty so I preserved her for Asgard judgement. I am a servant of the righteous gods of Yggdrasil. This ship, as suspected is a direct threat to Asgard supremacy and must be destroyed."

Colin cringed at the word "servant." "What have they done to him" he thought as another blue beam impacted the wall beside him.

Just at the moment, the entire ship shook and the lights in the room automatically dropped to condition one.

Battle stations.

There was a crackle on the ships communication with a slight voice that sounded like Djynn's. "I have blocked internal communications" chanted Eclypse with an almost robotic perfection to his voice.

"Now he tells me!" thought Colin as he narrowly missed a beam that came through his desk at him. "Watch that desk.. its real Talimwood!"

Just at that moment, he heard that door of the room open and watch sounded like a very hard punch. He peeked up from his desk and noticed that a particular tiger-fox was shaking his hand in a little pain with Eclypse on the floor.

"Well that rat's jaw is pretty tough, but then I don't like rodents..."

"Miles... you took your time getting here" said Colin calmly as he got up from behind his desk. The ship shook again, this time even heavier then before.

"Well I'm sorry!" joked Miles. "But you told me to get out... I had no idea you were entertaining woman... you old sly husky."

"It's not what you think!"

"Relax... I'm messing with ya. We're under attack, two Asgard big ships..."

Colin cringed. "Big ships?"

Miles nodded.

"You know, sometimes you are dumb. Have them brought to the infirmary and put under guard."

Colin went to leave the room for the bridge. Miles stepped in the way. "Hey Colin.. do you think we finally get to blow shit up?"

Colin nodded.

"Shit hot!" cheered Miles.
