#11 of Zootopia Park

As the beastly dinosaur comes down on the group, they can only think of one thing; escape, but what would they be willing to risk in order to keep the rest of Zootopia safe?

Part 11

This Allosaurus was enormous; standing at least thirty feet in height, she had enough size to intimidate a Tyrannosaurus Rex. As she craned her neck down to look at the group, her mouth curled back in an intimidating show of teeth that glinted at the daylight sun. The faintest hints of drool or saliva collected near the front of her mouth and drained down onto the sand beneath its feet. The group took a step back only to bump into Bogo, who was standing frozen.

"Wh-what do we do now?" Chase asked.

"Not sure. Right now, I can't even move." Bogo responded shortly. "Victoria? Can't you stop this thing?"

"I'm sorry..." She said before turning and disappearing behind the building, unseen by the creature, whose sights were already on the others.

"Well, this day could get worse, right?" Judy asked before chuckling nervously.

"We've got to get out of here before it decides to--"

Fangmeyer's voice was cut off by the loud, ear-piercing cry the beast gave. Her roar shook the entire ground below their feet and to Chase's dismay, shattered his sunglasses.

"Run."

Judy's discrete order was enough to send all of them bolting toward the nearest corner. The beast huffed indignantly and gave chase, her massive claws pounding into the dirt as it tried to run after. Thankfully she seemed unsteady in dealing with the fine sands of the Sahara Square desert and it slowed down for a few paces. Smashing through the building the others were trying to get around showered the group with debris as the shower knocked Judy off her feet. Chase turned to grab her, but found suddenly the two of them were separated from the other two by the dinosaur's snarling presence.

"Go! Get out of here!" Chase shouted as he waved his hands wildly, trying to keep the dinosaur's attention. "Hurry! Get help!"

"By the time we do that, you're going to be dino-chow!" Fangmeyer shouted back, getting a quick glance from the beast. "Whoa!"

The sound of something approaching fast then distracted the animal, who paused and looked about for whatever was causing it. Chase recognized the sound of the engine as his ears perked up. "No way, who would..." He paused as he watched a small meter maid car squeal off the road and onto the sand as it rapidly approached the dinosaur. It revved up and suddenly blasted up the tail of the beast.

"My old car!" Judy exclaimed, recognizing Nick behind the driver's seat. "NICK! What are you doing?!"

"Losing my mind!" Nick responded as he threw himself from the car, letting it fly down onto the building and konk out as he grabbed the dinosaur on each side of its head. Angrily the dinosaur snapped upward, trying to grab the fox on the top of her head as he held on for dear life being thrown back and forth. "Hurry! Guys! Get out of here while I have it distracted!"

Remembering the fox repellant she had in her belt, Judy quickly pulled it out. "Nick!" She shouted as she threw the spray toward him.

Nick caught the bottle and glanced at it. "Are you kidding me?! Why are you giving me this?"

"To use on the DINO-SAUR!?" Judy gawked at Nick's slowness.

"Oh, right!" Nick responded, popping the cap just as his grip slipped. "WHOA! AHH!" He shrieked as he fumbled over the dinosaur's mouth, which nearly opened. Thinking quickly, Nick thrust the can in front of himself and let loose the directed spray.

The beast roared angrily as its eyes succumbed to the effects of the repellant and she shrieked in agony as she threw Nick to the ground before dancing about on her feet, trying to clear the air.

"Hey! It worked!" Nick exclaimed as the others picked him up in a dazed state. "Does that mean foxes are related to dinosaurs?"

"Only because you're both part lizard." Bogo quipped as he got to his feet. "Now where do we go?"

"C'mon! Follow me!" Nick shouted as he came to his senses, and the others followed.

"How did you find us?" Chase asked.

Whistling could be heard from just over the next rise and the others were relieved to see Clawhauser, McHorn and another cheetah with a patrol car. "It would be wise if you guys hurried the fuzz up!" He shouted before pointing toward the group. Turning around, they could see the dinosaur recovering, but not able to find them. Bogo stopped dead in his tracks as the others ran past him, then stopped themselves.

"Chief? What are you doing?" Fangmeyer said. "Let's go!"

Bogo frowned, the serious expression on his face making it clear that he wasn't going to simply run from the beast. "We need to keep it distracted." He said.

"What?! Chief are you nuts? That thing's going to kill us!" Nick exclaimed.

"If it doesn't come after us, it'll go after the unprotected citizens. We need to keep it after us until we can defeat it."

Chase gasped in realization remembering the water leak. "Tundra Town!" He shouted, getting confused looks from the others. "We lure her to Tundra Town and send her into the lake! It'll be too cold for her to react there and we can stop it before she goes after anyone!"

"Let's go!" Bogo shouted as they ran toward the car.

Bogo climbed into the passenger seat next to McHorn while Clawhauser, Nick and Judy got into the back seat. "This isn't going to work!" Eddie groaned as she saw the limited space. "You guys go, I'll rig a car and we'll be right behind you guys!"

"Who are you!?" Bogo asked.

"Edna Blurr." She said with a faux salute. "My friends call me Eddie."

"Well... Edna. I don't leave my team behind."

The dinosaur roared as it looked around and began to head the opposite way. "Sir! The beast is getting away!" McHorn said. "We gotta catch up before it heads to the city!"

Bogo growled. "Alright, you three hurry up and catch up with us. We'll be taking the bridge into Tundra Town, if it's still following us we're going to need everyone's help to stop it."

"Got it."

Bogo closed the door and then punched his hand on the radio, silencing it. "This isn't the time for 'Easy Listening', McHorn. Drive!"

As the car screeched off, Eddie, Chase and Fangmeyer ran toward a parking lot on the other side of the road. They turned and watched as the police cruiser made a sudden spin around the dinosaur's massive claws, roared angrily and gave chase. Suddenly, they were all alarmed at the sound of a large engine turning over as Eddie had hotwired a Suburban and started it.

"You're too good at that." Chase said facetiously as he approached.

"You gonna judge me on that now?" Eddie asked. "Get in!"

"Move it." Chase said. "I'm driving."

"Let's go!" Fangmeyer said as he got into the passenger seat, sandwiching the cheetah between them before taking off.

"Bogo to the ZPD, come in! We need assistance!" He growled as the static came back over the radio with no response.

"Everyone's out trying to rally the civilians sir." Nick said.

"What?! Then who's watching the station prisoners?"

"Don't worry. I got it covered."

"You didn't put Flash in charge of the ZPD did you, Nick?"

"How'd you guess?"

"Nick!"

Nick shrugged. "Well, what do you want? He's about as fast as some of our other dispatchers."

"Oh cheese..." Judy put a hand across her face.

"Hey, he's a government employee. I'm sure he's taking this job pretty seriously--AHH!"

There was a sudden jerking motion as McHorn struggled to hold onto the wheel. Looking through the rearview mirror, he could see the familiar green and lime-colored dinosaur directly on their tail. He pressed his hoof onto the pedal to speed up.

"Don't go too fast, we don't want it giving up." Bogo said.

Another heavy slam from the allosaurus head sent the car careening from left to right as McHorn struggled to keep it on the road.

"Speed it up, speed it up!" Bogo exclaimed. "We want its attention, not a view of its tonsils!"

"Do dinosaurs even have tonsils?" Nick pondered.

As the car sped past the opening of the bridge leading into Tundra Town, Big Momma let out a blood-curdling roar that shook the car. She stormed onto the bridge, each slam of her claws shaking the structure of it as she entered a full-bore run now, McHorn sped up accordingly, trying to keep his eye on the slick ice portions of the bridge. Though it kept clean for the most part, there tended to be ice that begged caution.

*SLAM SLAM SLAM* "McHorn! Forward! Forward!"

"I'm trying!"

The bridge had begun a sharp incline when Momma's weight began to cause it to collapse from one side. The car entered a skid and started to slide backwards.

"We're in trouble... AHHH!"

Nick's scream echoed a good distance as the car turned sideways, then began a freefall tumble toward the dinosaur, who was now falling herself toward the edge she had broken in the bridge.

Bogo didn't have any recollection of the crash as he came around again. He simply remembered they had a dinosaur chasing after them and his eyes snapped wide open. "R-report?" He spoke as his voice was accompanied by groaning.

"I think we're all in one piece, Chief..." Clawhauser said. "Luckily I've got a squishy body and probably acted like everyone's airbag.

The others may have appreciated the humor, but none gave any indication. "Chief... I'm trapped." McHorn said, drawing Bogo's attention.

Indeed, McHorn looked like he was in one piece, but the steering column and door appeared to have trapped his legs in the wreck, and while everyone else wiggled free, he could not free himself. Bogo looked out the window to see the dinosaur lying out on the ice, a bit of a misty ice fog surrounded them, keeping the city from being completely visible from where they'd landed. As Bogo and Judy were the first out of the wreck and began to help Nick out as well, he heard a low growl emanate through the air and turned to see Big Momma now coming too as well and moving.

"Got to hurry." He pointed out as they got Nick out and began to help with Clawhauser. "McHorn, try to move your legs, you might be able to slip past the steering wheel that way."

"Nnhh... sorry, Chief, I'm having trouble moving at all." It was that moment Bogo realized that the wheel was also pressing against McHorn's stomach. As he went around to try and wrench the driver's door open he noticed that Momma had gotten up and was wandering around, somewhat dazed by the fall before noticing them and growling again. As her growls filled the air, Bogo began to try and speed up helping the rhino.

"McHorn, we need to get you out *now* come on!"

He pulled on the door, which made a screeching noise, but was still caught in the frame.

"Oh come on! When we used the wench earlier, the bumper fell right off!" Nick exclaimed. "Now it's solid as a rock. How's that for convenient?"

"Now's not the time Wilde. We need to get out of here before--"

The roar announced Big Momma's return, and the four looked up to see her charging them. She could easily crush the car if she stepped on it, and McHorn inside would not be pretty afterward. "MOVE!" Judy shouted at the others as they made a considerable effort to remove the door keeping McHorn trapped inside.

"She's going to crush us!" Clawhauser shrieked.

Suddenly, there was a honking from the street above as a pair of headlights appeared flying through the darkening sky, piercing the icy mist. There was no clue what possessed Chase to race off that roadway, but the sounds of all of the occupants screaming in terror as they came out of the sky was certainly an indicator of regret.

*CLANG!*

The car hit the dinosaur with the effectiveness of a hammer, knocking her off balance as it came crashing down to the ground. Big Momma hit the ice again, but this time with enough force to cause it to crack. Everyone froze, hearing the cracking of the ice as its groans echoed through the mist. After a few moments, it broke and the sounds of the dinosaur roaring in the night suddenly vanished with a loud splash.

"That was the stupidest thing ever!" Someone shouted from within the Suburban.

"Ouch! Why did you hit me?" Chase yelled angrily. "I did what I had to do!"

"You could've asked me to get out first you idiot!"

The door kicked open and a fuming angry cheetah stormed out. Fangmeyer got out second, still a bit dazed but alright as Chase climbed out of the driver's seat.

"You three." Bogo said, pointing at the group. "That was the most idiotic, insane and downright reckless thing I have ever seen!" He said. "You all could've been killed!"

"But, hey... the truck surivived." Chase tried to pass off a smile, but to his disdain, watched as the Suburban's wheels literally folded up under it and it crumpled to the ground in a saddened state. He chuckled nervously.

"That one's going on your record, Detective Howard; of a complete disregard for your personal safety--"

A gigantic bang suddenly filled the air, causing everyone to duck in response as a giant blast of ice shot forward, and Big Momma let out a high shrill roaring noise as she broke free of the lake's freezing depths, her eyes focused somehow on Bogo and she headed immediately for him with her final, desperate lunge; A lunge that failed, at the last second instead, Chase leapt toward Bogo as he tackled him out of the way. The creature's teeth clamped down, just catching the wolf by the belt of his pants and as she came crashing onto the ice again, breaking it apart, Chase was suddenly dragged into the water with her.

"CHASE!" Everyone shouted at once as they ran toward the edge of the ice. As the waters fell still, Judy let out an audible sob as she collapsed into Nick, who hugged her silently.

"No...!" Bogo said, in a state of shock as he plunged his hands into the icy water. "Howard! Chase! Where are you?!" He looked at Fangmeyer, who had fallen silent too, and Clawhauser, who wasn't ashamed to let on the waterworks.

*SPLASH!*

A loud gasping of air caught everyone's attention as Chase burst through the water, coughing.

"Chase!" Judy exclaimed happily as Bogo and Fangmeyer each took one of the wolf's hands and pulled him up out of the water. He was shivering uncontrollably as the others gathered around him.

"N-no matter how th-thick my fur is... that is so-some c-c-cold water..." He said, cracking an uneasy smile before passing out.
