#15 of The Roommate

t was Friday. It had been three days ago when Xaver temporarily lost his sanity and made a loose pact with Oscuro. So far the two of them had proved loyal to the agreement. Oscuro kept his teasing to a minimum, Xaver tried not to voice his complaints out loud, and amazingly, there was less arguing.

That Friday morning, Xaver and Oscuro had just arrived at work and went their separate directions, wisely keeping out of each others way. Xaver needed to use the restroom for a few minutes and felt unusually at ease when he was finished. He walked up to his desk and stopped dead in his tracks when he saw what awaited him.

"Damn it, not again! Can't the little bastard think up new ways to spend his time?"

A week ago, Xaver would have recoiled in horror at what he saw on his desk, but ever since he touched himself in the shower, his fear and discomfort seemed to be miraculously receding.

The object on the desk was long, pinkish, and had a rather hefty bulb at the base. Even an anti-social virgin like Xaver could recognize a dildo when he saw one. It was quite obvious that it was another gift from Hiro, and Xaver badly wanted to beat the canine into a pulp.

He heard footsteps behind him and cringed. "Hiro, this isn't second grade anymore, you know. We're adults in the business world and leaving crude jokes on people's desks is not going to lead to a successful career."

"Xaver, what are you talking about?"

Suddenly embarrassed, Xaver turned around and realized that Kyle was standing behind him and Hiro was nowhere in sight. "Oh. I thought you were Hiro." He really didn't want to talk to Kyle and pretended to be completely absorbed in a blank piece of paper.

Kyle, however, wasn't ready to go away. "So are you still living with Oscuro? Lucky bastard."

"Oh," Xaver said. If he behaved indifferently, then maybe the other man would go away.

"Hey, what's this?" To Xaver's horror, Kyle spotted the dildo and picked it up, laughing. "Is this yours, Xaver? Why would you need this when you've got Oscuro available to you every night?"

Xaver's face inevitably turned red, ears folding slightly in embarrassment. "No, it's not mine. Hiro put it there as a prank."

"Oh. In that case, can I have it?"

Xaver stared at the tall lupine as if he had just asked if he could have his babies. "I don't care." He turned away from Kyle, ending his side of the conversation, and tried his best to pretend the secretary didn't exist.

Kyle happily walked away and stopped at his desk to place his new sex toy in one of the drawers. The phone on the desk rang and Kyle picked it up. "Hello?"

"Tell Bel to come to my office." It was Hiro.

"Why? Bel will never allow himself to be seduced by someone like you."

"I think you're forgetting that I'm Bel's boss. He's still fairly new here and I've got to check up on him once in a while. Now go tell Bel to come here, unless you want to get fired."

"Fine, you bastard." Kyle hung up and slammed the phone down. He found Bel dutifully working at his desk and tapped the rabbit on the shoulder.

"Hm?" Bel turned around. "What is it, Ky?"

Kyle looked unhappy. "The boss wants you in his office. He has a reputation for trying to do obscene things to his workers, so I would watch out if I were you. I think he even raped someone a couple of years ago." It was a lie, but Bel always trusted him. "Be careful in there, Bel. Keep your legs closed at all costs!"

Bel's cheeks went warm at the lupine's startling speech. "I'm sure everything will be fine..."

Kyle sighed in disgruntlement. "You'd better go to Hiro's office now or he's going to get mad at me."

Bel obeyed and got up out of his seat, tingling with nerves. He said a quiet goodbye to Kyle and made his way to Hiro's office. He had no idea what the canine wanted with him and was a little afraid to find out, but he knocked on the door anyway.

"Come right in," Hiro said from inside.

Bel forced his heartbeat to slow down, knowing that he was overreacting. Hiro probably wanted to talk about business with him. He grasped the doorknob in his paw and opened up the door. He barely registered what happened after that, because as soon as he was inside the room, Hiro shut the door and grabbed him. Hiro pushed Bel down so he could reach the taller rabbit's mouth and started fiercely kissing his employee as if he had been starving for a taste of him.

"Hiroâ€"" Bel started to say inquisitively, but the sentence was cut off by the smaller canine's wildly working mouth.

Hiro grabbed onto Bel just below the base of his tail, and took his mouth away to smile. "You haven't given me an answer yet. Do I have to take you by force?" For the past couple of days he had given Bel space, not wanting to overwhelm him. His shy employee apparently was not ready to give an answer of whether or not he was ready to lose his virginity to his boss, and Hiro no longer had patience.

Bel's body was warm and fluttery all over. He was arousedâ€"it was impossible for him not to beâ€"but also extremely confused. "I don't know, Hiro. This isn't right."

Hiro reached up to place a paw on Bel's shoulder and soothingly rubbed at the body part with his fingers. "Of course it's right. You've become a special employee to me, and therefore you get special treatment. Don't be afraid of me, Bel. I want you more badly than you can believe, but I won't hurt you."

"I know you won't," Bel murmured, folding his ears down.

"Then why do you keep hesitating? You'll never know whether you like something or not unless you try it." He put his free paw possessively around Bel's waist. "Let's do it tonight." His voice had gone softer, as if he were speaking to a child he didn't want to frighten away. "When work gets out, I'm taking you home with me."

Bel felt that he couldn't refuse. It wasn't because he was weak; he had a perfectly good mind of his own and could make decisions without being influenced by others. There was something compelling about Hiro that Bel could no longer keep resisting.

"Okay," he agreed. "I'll go with you after work. I took a bus here today to save my car fuel."

Hiro gently brushed his fingers along Bel's neck, wanting to touch every section of exposed fur he saw. "Good. I knew you would have to say yes eventually." He kissed Bel one last time, filling the tall rabbit with an unsatisfied desire, and then broke away. "Get back to work now. I'm working hard to restrain myself and if you linger here any longer, I don't know what's going to happen to my self-control."

Bel wordlessly left the office and walked quickly in an attempt to make his body feel back to normal. The burning, tingling sensation was smoldering down in his privates again, just like the last time Hiro touched him. Perhaps giving in to his boss was a good thing. He was tired of experiencing weird feelings, both physical and mental.

When Bel got back to his desk, Kyle had left, much to his relief. Kyle was his friend and he didn't want to lie to him, but he couldn't tell him about Hiro. It was going to be his secret, whether it was a good one or a bad one.

When lunchtime came around, Xaver was still seething with annoyance at Hiro. It was bad enough that his boss put lubricant on his desk a few days ago, but repeating the joke with a different object was even worse. It was an invasion of privacy, even if it didn't hurt anything.

He was terribly thirsty and needed some water to cool down both his throat and his emotions. He got up out of his desk and headed for the vending machine that carried bottled water, hoping nothing strange appeared on his desk while he was gone.

The last thing Xaver expected to see was a head of dark Grey hair, and sparkling antlers, but Oscuro was inevitably walking in his direction and Xaver couldn't avoid him. He and Oscuro saw each other sometimes during work, though they normally didn't speak to one another.

Oscuro looked surprised to see Xaver. "Hey, Xaver. What are you doing?"

It wasn't the best time for Oscuro to decide to be friendly, but Xaver kept his outer mood mild and responded. "I'm getting a bottled water." Suddenly he didn't feel as thirsty anymore.

"Oh. You didn't look very happy when I first caught sight of you. You didn't see me then, so I know I'm not the one who upset you."

Xaver sighed. "Of course I'm not happy. That little shit Hiro has been leaving all this annoying crap on my desk just to antagonize me."

Oscuro shrugged. "That's just what Hiro does. He wants a reaction out of you. Just ignore him and he'll get tired of it." He put a comforting hand on Xaver's shoulder. "How about you have lunch with me?"

It was true that Xaver and Oscuro were fighting less, but Xaver still avoided spending time with his roommate. They were at work though, which meant that nothing could go wrong, and Oscuro was behaving pretty nice that day. "I'll eat with you if you really want me to. You haven't done anything recently that makes you deserving of bad treatment."

"All right. I take that as an unhappy yes, but still a yes." Oscuro led the way to get the food and took Xaver to his desk. After clearing off the desk space and adding a second chair, Oscuro sat down and gestured for Xaver to join him.

Xaver sat as far from Oscuro as he could and started to eat in silence. Oscuro grabbed the big cat's food and held it out of his reach. "Come on, Xaver, don't be boring. Let's talk about something."

Xaver reached for his lunch and tried to get it back, with no success. "Talk about what?"

"You've been living with me for about a week, Xaver. I'm not a stranger anymore." Oscuro gave the feline his food back. "I know you hated me at first, but tell me what you think of me now."

Xaver wanted to say that he still hated Oscuro, but he found that wasn't true. "I don't know. You're okay, I guess."

"That's definitely a major improvement when compared with other ways you've described me," Oscuro remarked. "I've changed my opinions about you too, Xaver. I've always been curious about you and wanted to get to know you, but you were so annoying and pessimistic towards me that I thought of giving up. But now you're not so bad anymore. We ought to talk like this more often."

Sitting around and idly chatting with people was an activity that Xaver did not enjoy doing. He had to admit though, that he would rather have a conversation with Oscuro than with any of the strangers in the building. Oscuro was becoming more tolerable, besides, what was so bad about talking to him?

"What would you want to talk about?" Xaver asked.

"Anything!" Oscuro answered. "Maybe you can talk about yourself, and I'll tell you about myself in exchange. We're roommates, after all, damn it. We can't keep on being mysteries to each other."

Xaver wasn't the least bit eager about Oscuro's plan, but he chose not to complain about it. He didn't want to destroy the sense of compromise that had sprung up between the two of them.

He finished his food quickly and parted company with Oscuro. It sounded weird, but he thought the Grey-haired buck was actually trying to bond with him. If it meant less conflict and more kindness towards him, then Xaver supposed he could handle it.

He headed back to his desk and decided he was thirsty for that bottle of water again. He reached the vending machine, but he was prevented from buying his water once more because Hiro was nearby. Feeling an unusual burst of assertiveness overcome him, he approached his boss and stared him in the face.

"Playing that prank once was more than enough, Hiro. Quit putting stuff on my desk."

The short canine looked confused. "What are you talking about?"

"First you leave me another one of your annoying little ‘gifts', and now you're lying to me about it. Did you wake up particularly evil this morning?"

Hiro scowled in offense. "Why would I lie to you about something? You're obviously the one who's lying, because I have no idea what you're trying to accuse me of. Yes, I thought it was hilarious when I gave you that lube on Monday, but I never put anything on your desk today."

Now it was Xaver's turn to be confused. "But if you didn't do it, then who did?"

"What exactly did you find on your desk anyway?" Hiro asked.

Xaver suddenly grew uncomfortable. "Nothing, really. It was just something stupid."

Hiro smiled wickedly. "It's something embarrassing, I bet. What was it?"

"I wasn't embarrassed," Xaver insisted, defending himself. "If you really want to know, it was a dildo. Kyle took it, so if you want to see it then you'll have to ask him."

"Wow, that's impressive," Hiro commented. "I actually considered giving you one of those, but I went with the lube instead. I congratulate whoever decided to gift you."

"Great, now I have an unsolved mystery and you're no help, of course," Xaver said. "I'd better go and guard my work space."

He walked away without quenching his thirst and went back to his desk, which was thankfully empty of anything alien and disturbing. He sat down and stared down at the surface of his desk as if expecting it to give up its secrets. He had no idea who had decided to play a joke on him that morning, but the idea of another person who thought like Hiro was a very discomforting one.
