#32 of The Cat's Stroll

Notice

Notice... and this makes four.

So, yeah, I guess I should be direct with this. Nope, I am not thinking of quitting this series, but I must admit that these past days I've had the itching to write something different. It was interfering, so I decided to give it a go and now I'm quite focused on it. Thankfully I abstained from a new series, since I am barely keeping up with The Cat's Stroll, so it's just a short, not-so-short story. So I believe we won't be returning to the series till the next week. I apologize.

Then it occurred to me that I could make some kind of preview slash mini-scene slash what-was-I-thinking?, so bear with it!

...

A few days had passed since the day of the duel, and Min Lao had finally found the opportunity to drag Kyu Cao to have drink together.

The hulking tiger sat imposingly like a tall mountain, and his laughter was like roaring thunder, flooding each corner of the room. Although save for the sourpuss shuffling papers on a table in a corner, there was nobody else here.

Kyu Cao sat silently, his face impassive as he keenly stared at the cup of alcohol in front of him. Even now Kyu Cao was disinclined to drink such a bitter liquid, and now looking at the boisterous, half-stupid, half-drunk tiger next to him, he was just unwilling all the more.

"Come on, come on! Little Cao, come on! Drink with your Second Brother!"

"I appreciate the offer, but no thanks."

"Aww, that's no fun at all! Oh, I know! You must be depressed over the result of the duel. Indeed, what a pity, what a pity!" Min Lao clenched his paws, and his face was that of the most regret, as if he had lost his most precious treasure.

"What is a pity?" Kyu Cao inquired puzzled. Had this Min Lao already forgotten what had happened?

"But worry not, my dearest younger brother! Next time it will be better?"

"There will be another time?" Kyu Cao hoped not. All that had been a complete hassle.

"But what happened after that... after that..." Min Lao appeared to have difficulty continuing the words. Then, as his eyes fell on the smaller figure of the cat, like a furious river demolishing a damp, he could not hold back his feelings any more and the tiger pounced toward his little brother, much like a predator.

Bawling like a roar echoed the room, extremely silly and annoying. The tower-like tiger was crying without restrain like a child. Though, to be exact, it was more like a hopeless drunkard.

Kyu Cao neutral expression had broken, becoming one of fluster. He didn't mind his brother drunk antics, and his heart was warmed at his concern, but right now, he really wanted his second brother to get the hell away. Min Lao was leaving his snot all over him!

Suddenly, a sharp whistle was heard as chair flew through the air.

The chair was heading directly toward Min Ling's tall figure, who currently was completely oblivious to his surroundings.

Min Lao released Kyu Cao as the chair expertly hit him at the back of his head, sending him a dozen of paces over the floor. And more impressive, this act had completely disregarded Kyu Cao, who kept sitting on his chair without a change.

"Keep silence. He came back alive, did he not?" a cold voice sounded.

The tiger on the floor did not make any sound, but nobody really believed that he was in a bad state. The huge lug was extremely resilient, so the other two decided to ignore the drunkard for now.

Kyu Cao took a napkin from his robes and began to wipe the snot from his fur and clothes. Then, he turned toward the tiger sitting at the corner and spoke indifferently, "I thank Eldest Brother for his assistance."

"Pay no mind. He was being a nuisance. But "that event" is nearing, and Father requested for you to be present. Also, it seems you left a bit of an impression on "her", so I hope that you can be at your best behavior."

"I understand." How could he forget, thought Kyu Cao gloomily.

"That's right, Older Brother!" All of sudden, Min Lao appeared next to Kyu Cao, lively and bouncing with vigor. How had he done that, the cat wondered. "But let's not talk about "her", Little Cao!" The tiger turned toward Kyu Cao, a serious expression on his face.

"Yes?"

Min Lao put his paws over his little brother shoulders, staring at this one's eyes with a gleam that spoke of a matter of life or death. "Be honest with me! Who is that wolf?! What is it to you?"

Kyu Cao' mind blanket for a moment.

How could Min Lao know about the mutated thunderlightning gray wolf's existence? His Mystic Plot Armor should have absolutely prevented any prying eyes from being present during those scenes!

But right now, Min Lao was exuding a pressure that was like an Asura awoken from his thousand year sleep, making Kyu Cao's tail twitch nervously.

Swish!

Another flying projectile, this time time a table, a Min Lao was neatly out of commission again.

"Noisy doting older bother."

Kyu Cao ignored the unconscious tiger, and inwardly gave sigh of relief.

But then, he too began to wonder.

What was that wolf to him?

And more importantly, was something interesting going to happen again?

Thankfully, this thing with self-detonate in about a week time.

See ya.
