#21 of A Dragon's Final Song

Yrelka watched as the war started from the safety of Spyro's cave. Despite of being far from the main place of event, the sheer pressure of the fight reached even the safety of the lair. Even his separate demonic shadows, the one manifesting as two demonic-looking snakes, were hissing, intimidated by it. Yet, they were scared. Yrelka knew it. Her curse was scared to a fight. That was new.

While she never did like the two menacing creatures, she couldn't deny that they were her, and by extension, they were scared like her. One of them move to Yrelka and hissed slowly to her. She nudged the snake, giving it care.

"Don't worry, little ones. It will be over," she said, reassuring them. Just then, Sannourah came out from the cave and said, "Yrelka, Alduin's crying again."

"Oh, for the love of...Cynder is in that city and we're stuck with a crybaby.... Isn't a dragon not supposed to cry?"

"I don't know...but we are all afraid."

"To be truth...something is wrong with this fight. It's as if we are going to see a new age coming...but then, why am I so scared? What will this world go? Will it change our world too?"

"You know, why don't we see the fight if it makes you feel uncomfortable? Come on, we don't need to actually be inside the battlefield, right?"

As twisted as Sannourah's logic was, Yrelka nodded. Sannourah opened the portal towards the battlefield, but at the time they opened it, an energy beam went past the portal and almost hit Sannourah. Both of them saw the full extent of the fight, and was horrified by it.

It was almost a one-sided battle. The gray-scaled dragons were clearly on the upper hand, but the allied dragons were terrifyingly powerful they changed the landscape around them. Avila and Cynder flew by and used a combination of their attacks, just like what they did back at the Dark Realm.

Then suddenly, a wolf came near them and pulled its eyepatch. It momentarily vanished and a dragon got slashed through its eye.

"This is worse than what I imagined!" exclaimed Yrelka. "Close the fucking portal, San..."

Yet before the small dragon could close it, Cynder noticed her and pulled her in. She then said, "Stay where you are, Sannourah! I need an adult to take care of Alduin! Close the goddamn portal!"

He obliged, and as he turned, he heard the young dragon's crying again and realized that he was the only one to take care of their young son.

"This is not happening..."

Rex stopped time just before Gordon got pierced by a Northern dragon that suddenly jumped towards him. Since the fight with the time dragon Rex somehow was able to use the Eye of Chronos efficiently, even so far as using his old catchphrase when activating it. Yet, knowing his limits, he should only limit his time stop ability for only 3 seconds or he would need the eyepatch permanently.

At least aside from saving Gordon, he could strike the dragon in the eye.

After time resumed, Gordon seemed displeased by his actions.

"Hey, you know I can't die, right?"

"I don't care if you can't die or not! You're going to rip this universe apart if you too many times!"

"I am well aware of that. I see you're using that old...thing you said back then."

"I feel like a badass for saying that."

Gordon ran towards a dragon that almost ate a rider. He jumped and absorbed the energy of the dragon's jaw. He then exclaimed, "Right back at ya!" before blowing the top of the dragon's jaw, decapitating him, but at the same time blew up his front paws. It regenerated soon after, but Rex came and said, "What part of ripping the universe apart you don't understand?!"

"Still better than not doing anything."

"You won't be able to save anything if this universe ends! Oh, just fuck it. I don't care if the universe resets."

Yrelka was still dragged by Avila, helping her in repelling some of the fireball attacks directed at her. She couldn't understand what the death dragoness was trying to do, even when she said, "What the hell are you doing?!"

"I need your shadow. Extra help is appreciated," said Avila.

"At least take Sannourah with..."

"No, he needs to be with Alduin!" exclaimed Cynder beside her. She blasted a dragon away with her wind. "I don't care if he can cut a dragon in half. Sannourah is physically too young to be involved in this fight."

"They are only 30 dragons! He can take care of them! Look, I know how ruthless he can be, so at least take him to a fight!"

"I wish you remember what happened when he attempted that..."

They didn't see what was in front of them when they were talking. Luckily Avila saw him at the last minute and teleported her friends away from danger. When she saw the position they were some seconds before, they were horrified and surprised.

One of the dragons was slowly turning into a stone. Because he was flying, he fell to the ground and shattered into pieces. This shocked Avila a lot, not because of the petrifying power, but because the dragon that was shattered was her friend.

The dragon, imposing in size, landed beside them. He wasn't looking like a very fit dragon, let alone being able to do anything that's physically demanding. Yet, his presence made them aware that he wasn't a normal Northern dragon.

"Now...I don't know what power you have, but you cannot escape. Become a..."

Suddenly, out of nowhere, a dragon came out from a portal and crashed to the dragon. Before the dragon could deliver a fatal blow, however, the other dragon broke free and delivered a strong blow that threw the black dragon away. Yet, he wasn't visibly injured.

"You have to do better than that, lowly being," said the dragon.

"Dad!"

"I'd never let my daughter fight alone, would I?" said Xiciro with a smirk towards his daughter. "Let's show this bastard what Argoon dragons are made of."

In another place at the same time, Ignitus and Terrador managed to fly back through the Realm and called upon some of their comrades. Volteer wasn't as eager in the fights (though he knew the situation beforehand), and Cyril wasn't even trying to be involved. Flame was the only one that was eager, though, despite of the fact that it could kill them all.

Ignitus was given a harsh warning by Spyro not to even involve any other Dragon Realm dragons, despite of their willingness to fight. Yet, the Fire Guardian couldn't have a heart to let his student and best friend to be killed in a fight that's not even their fight. He knew he would be scolded by Spyro if they survived, but at least Flame was enough to help. The fire dragon was personally trained by Ignitus in the arts of fire, knowing very well of his affinity with flame. The red dragon, despite of being 30 years old, still had the vigor of a young dragon, far more than Spyro was. Maybe because he wasn't married yet.

Spyro was pushed by the desire to see his son again. Despite of knowing that this wasn't his fight, he didn't want to back away from fights, not if Seraphor was in the fight. They were counterparts; parallels. They knew each other better than their friends and families. His decision on not involving Dragon Realm was because of his role as their savior, the only one still alive at the time.

"Spyro, switch places with me," said Shyplis from inside him. "I need to talk to Sera."

Spyro nodded and closed his eyes. The next moment, his body was momentarily engulfed in flames before revealing a darker shade of purple scales with white hair and red eyes. He moved closer to Seraphor. The silver red was using his new technique to at least kill two Northern dragons at the same level with the one he killed, but he was straining to use it, despite of mastering it in the Shadow Dimension.

"Sera, don't push yourself. Accel Run is only causing a massive shot of adrenaline to your body and increasing the pump of your heart. It may not be that effective in Shadow Dimension, but with raw magical energy absorber like you, it could overwhelm you and caused cardiac arrest!"

"I know the risks! We can't let these dragons to destroy the world!"

"I know your concern, but at least please don't use your electricity at all time! Use that combo technique!"

"Shit, I guess I don't have a choice! Frozen Forest!"

A line of ice formed from Seraphor towards an unfortunate Northern dragon. His legs were frozen in place (he was the one standing on the group, eating up some riders) and he couldn't escape thorns coming out from the ice. It was a decoy, though, as he was impaled from both sides that's still earth by two sharp trees. Yet, it was visible that using this caused Seraphor to lose his concentration and stunned, something Shyplis took notice.

"You really need to control the use of your energy. You're the strongest dragon in this group!"

"I know! It's not as easy as you thought, Shyplis!"

"Silver red!"

The booming voice caused Seraphor to look towards the source of the voice. It was three times bigger than Seraphor himself, being a true Northern dragon. He was apparently the leader of the Northern dragons as the dragons around him moved away from him as he approached Seraphor.

"Now that's a big one," said Seraphor, seeing the towering dragon.

"Prove to me Abridorn's legacy does not end in your line, Seraphor," said the dragon. "Will you be able to best me in this fight, or will your dream of uniting the dragons and the humans be shattered in front of your eyes?"

"Sera..."

"Don't worry, Shyplis. Both of us won't fight fair after a while."

The smaller silver red dragon then stood there, facing the dragon.

"What's your name, then?"

"My name is Gothen, the proud dragon of the North."

"Gothen, huh? As vile as you are, at least you're not as bad as Ceroz. Might I ask? What did you do to the Dragonsbane?"

"Hmm? The humans?" Gothen smiled. "Let's just say that they are no longer a collected group anymore."

"Then we won't get any unexpected tricks," said Seraphor. "We aren't gonna fight fair and square, are we?"

"I am expecting THAT!"

Suddenly Seraphor felt himself thrown away from Gothen. The silver red had no time to realize something when he was pulled towards the Northern dragons. Yet, his Accel Run kicked in at the precise time. He managed to prevent his body to be bitten in half by the dragon, yet he couldn't prevent a second strike from the dragon's claws that hit him square in the chest. Thrown like a ragdoll, Seraphor blasted through a dragon shelter into the water reserve. It was stained by his blood, and he felt some of his ribs were broken.

"You bastard...that was telekinesis, wasn't it?"

"Precisely! I, Gothen, have mastered the power of the mind and the power of force! We will see how my magical power fare against your elemental power, Seraphor!"

"Heh...not only that I must fight a dragon version of Jean Grey, but I think I am in a disadvantage," said Seraphor while smiling. "This is kind of fun."

Seraphor then ran towards the bigger dragon, forming fire wings and jumped, trying to at least get level with the dragon. Gothen was ready to do another telekinetic ability when he saw Shyplis flying over Seraphor, taking a bit of the fire wing and fashioned a condensed ball of fire in his talons. Gothen knew this fire, with the speed of his pull, would hurt him. Yet, despite of stopping his pull, the ball wasn't thrown to him. It became strings and one of the end started to expand like a balloon. Before Gothen knew what happened, it exploded in his face.

"Now that's one hell of a trick you pulled, Shyplis!"

"Stay focused. It wasn't strong enough to destroy his head!"

True as Shyplis said, as the smoke cleared, Gothen was mildly burned and cut, but otherwise he's okay. He made a low growl, his eyes became narrow, indicating that he was serious.

"So your power is friendship. You're just like Grandos."

"Wait...just how old are you?!"

"Old enough to know the 'legend of the west' is barely 90!"

Gothen and Seraphor then clashed, creating a shockwave that caused most of the other combatants thrown away from their sheer force. They were facing each other like there was no tomorrow. Even Shyplis that didn't contribute anything in that clash was astonished.

The fight went on, and dragons started falling from both sides. What happened after the fight determined the fate of the Continent and the world. Will it be the world ruled by the dragons, or will it be the same as before, with the humans and dragons finally got their peace?
