================================================================

I had just finished debriefing everyone, and making sure everyone had a job to do. I was now sitting silently on the roof of the base watching the night sky, the silence of space, drowned out by the sounds of the cities night life. Leaning back slightly against the wall, I closed my eyes...so far everything was running smoothly...no questions besides the basics, but never a question on why. Soon I heard the stairwell door open as I turned my head to see who it was, seeing Gina walk into view.

"What's wrong Wolf? You seam distant."

"Sorry. I just feel like I might have over looked something...something inside my head is telling me so. Its like that sixth sense, ya know." I replied softly while looking back to the sky, while picking up a cigar from the box beside me, lighting it up, before looking back to her as she sat down beside me. Her fur shining softly like a thousands of diamonds in the moon light, a true goddess of beauty. "I've had the feeling ever since Devon's base was sent to the bottom of that pit..."

"Do you think he still poses a threat?" Gina asked softly while placing a paw softly upon my shoulder as she leaned closer, resting her head softly against mine.

Slowly I reached up with one hand and stroked softly along her cheek, before moving up and scratching behind her ear.

"I don't know...I..." I trailed off slowly before looking at her slightly. "It's possible."

"Lets not worry about it just yet my love, we have so much more to worry about here..." she softly ran her paw across my cheek before kissing me slowly. I gave a soft nod in reply before returning the kiss. I then looked deep into her eyes with a soft smile, placing my nose to hers.

"Lets just sit here and enjoy one another's presence...we haven't done that in a while." I gave her a quick kiss, erecting a soft murr from the lovely lupine. She gave a soft nod, looking up to the sky, the glow from the city lights making it look like everything below us was on fire, burning away into nothing...and our only safe haven was where we was now...in one another's arms, it made me feel at ease, the nagging in the back of my mind...ebbing away into a dull sound, as I snuffed out the cigar against the wall behind me.

The last thing I really remember before I fell asleep was the feeling of Gina cuddling up closer to me, with her head resting upon my shoulder. When I woke up I was laying alone in bed...slowly I got up, stretching slightly before moving to the window looking out at the city. Soon there was a frantic knock on the door, pulling at me to turn around. "It's unlocked."

The door opened and Ginger stepped in quickly, panting softly. "Sir...your presence...is...needed...in the control...room." she spoke in ragged breaths before she caught one more breath of air and spoke once more. " Immediately."

I gave a nod, glad that I was still dressed. "Lets go." I said while walking out of my room and out into the halls, where I made my way to the control room at a brisk pace whit Ginger following behind me. Upon entering the control room I saw half my team standing near a large conference table. Blaze and Reno stood as soon as I entered before sitting down once more when I gave a nod. "What's the problem guys?"

Bob turned slowly from looking at a large map that I noticed was of my old base in South Africa. "There has been a incident in South Africa...we don't know what it is but this was sent half an hour ago." he pressed a button on a small remote before the recorder that was sitting on the middle of the table started up.

"This is Sergeant Gray, the UAA base has fallen under attack...we don't know who they are but they knew just where to hit us. We need immediate reinforcements...I repeat...we need immediate reinfor--"

"That's where it ended..." Bob spoke softly.

"No one knows our weak spots." I looked to Blaze, then to Bob. "I need a plane out there now...Blaze, Reno...gather up the fire team...Ginger, I want you to get me a plane ready to fly in five." I then looked to Gina. "Lets go...we got people counting on us."

"We'll be ready, Sir." Reno spoke.

"Good...because we left half an hour ago...MOVE!" I then turned around and left the room, with Gina following behind me once more as everyone else went on with what I had told them to do.

"Wolf..."

"I know I know...don't worry." I smiled slightly while patting her softly on the back. "Lets just hope we're not too late." I made my way back to the bedroom and got cleaned up, then headed down to the armory, picking up a updated German FG-42 Paratrooper Auto-Rifle, fitted with a three stage zoom scope and a twenty round box magazine loaded with 7.92x57mm rounds. I then turned to Gina with a soft smile. "Come on, lets get going."

Once we was all loaded upon the transport and on our way to the base, I sat silently near one of the windows watching the clouds pass by...all the events weighing heavy on my mind. Who could have hit the UAA base so hard that it would cause them to request help? We had more than enough training and weapons to hold our own in a small war...unless this was all something bigger that I never saw coming...something that would make the war against the HRF look like child's play.

"ETA Two Minutes."

I slowly stood up, ejecting the clip from my FG-42. "Okay everyone...lock and load. We got friends and family counting on us for help." I then replaced the clip before slipping the rifle behind me. Once the plane landed and the rear cargo ramp started to lower down, a smell reached me that I knew all too well...Smoke. I felt my pulse quicken before we all filed off the plane in groups, Blaze and Reno taking up point with a few others to secure the area around the plane as the rest of us moved off, then I saw it...pillars of smoke rising up above the trees. I also noticed something that didn't set right...no gun fire...was we too late? We moved on through the path that led from the runway to the base. Soon upon reaching the base, we all stopped dead in our tracks.

The base was burned...the transports, the armory, the lab, the sleeping quarters, the hanger...everything was burning in small spots of flames, the smell of fuel, gun powder, and rubber filled the air with toxic fumes. I felt the knot in the pit of my stomach tighten and a lump form in my throat. It took me a while to find my voice before I also regained my composure, the fear deep inside me threatening to burst out. "Spread out...search the area for any survivors. I want to know what happened here." I slowly walked to what was left of the front of the base, the flames had died down as I slowly stepped through the doorway, while unclipping the flashlight from my vest and turning it on. The white beam of light landed upon charred halls...slowly I walked on, the crackling of embers echoing dully through the darkness. Soon I felt my boot come in contact with something hard, the soft clank of metal against stone was heard. I then kneeled down brushing around in the ash before picking up the melted remains of a PSG-1 sniper rifle. I stared silently at the weapon on my hands as the sounds of my fellow team members searched through the area.

"Boss!" Blaze called from up ahead of me, I looked up, dropping the gun as I jogged up to him before I slid to a stop next to him, stunned by what I saw...the feeling deep inside my stomach started to turn and twist...I felt like my body was ripping itself apart from inside.

Charred bodies laid strewn through out what remained of the command room. Blackened bones, singed fur and skin, destroyed weapons, everything I had built up, friends and family...nothing was left. A soft sparkle caught my eye in the middle of the room among the blackness, slowly I stepped into the room, moving about the bones and bodies, the eyeless corpses all around me...scared that they would drag me into the darkness with them. Slowly I kneeled down, picking up the object before I froze.

It was a collar with a golden heart tag hanging from the metal loop, and the name upon that tag... "Natala". I felt my heart hammer against my chest, the blood rushing in my ears...I got up on shaky knees and stumbled my way past Blaze and out of the base as fast as I could with out falling down.

"Sir?" Blaze turned to follow as everyone stopped to see what was going on as the both of us disappeared out of the area.

When I was near the tree line I fell upon my knees, before I started hurling my guts out. Although it didn't last long, the aftereffect left a bad taste in my mouth and a hole in my heart as I remained upon my knees, with on hand upon a tree to support...my breath coming in ragged pants. I had to breath through my mouth because when I didn't, the smell of the fumes made me want to puke all over again, and my stomach hurt like hell. Why was this happening to me...to US...slowly I stood up, wiping my mouth with the back of my hand, as Blaze placed his paw upon my shoulder.

"You okay, Boss?"

"Yeah...I'll be fine." I replied softly, before giving a sigh. "Any idea on who hit us?"

"No...but we did find a weapon that wasn't in the stock pile when we left yesterday." Blaze spoke softly while patting my shoulder before he stepped back slowly.

I then turned to him. "Where is it?"

Blaze then handed over a submachine gun that I recognized instantly...a K3G4.

I looked past Blaze, to the base before I nearly growled. "Devon."

"I thought we killed him." Blaze replied, tilting his head slightly.

"A costly mistake we made...very costly. We need to get back to base..." I walked away, back to the runway, still gripping the collar of my former pet, friend, and family member; in my hand.

"We're pulling out...everyone...back to the plane." Blaze called out, before everyone made there way to the runway as well. I had boarded the plane silently before I sat down in a seat, looking at the tag.

"I'm so sorry...I never should have brought you into this Natala...god forgive me." I closed my eyes before sighing and looking to the wall across from me. "God forgive me for what I am about to do...forgive me for all the wrong I have done in your eyes...forgive me for taking your name in vain...and forgive me for the bastards I am about to kill."

Slowly Gina sat down next to me, placing her paw softly upon my shoulder. "Wolf...I know you think it's your fault...its not...no one can change the path of time and the will of god."

I shook my head slowly. "I can't help it, Gina. If I would have been more careful they would all be alive. I killed them Gina...I left them there while that...Madman waited and planed..."

"Boss...listen to her, she knows what she's talking about." Blaze said while standing up.

"SHUT UP, BLAZE!" I yelled at him, causing everyone to look up in shock, for it was the first time I ever spoke toward them in anger...all the other times was during a mission or just to play, but this was pure anger.

"Make me...Human." Blaze replied with a low growl, his hackles rising up as his lips curled back into a snarl.

I snorted slightly. "Gladly." I then lunged at him driving a heavy right hook to the side of his muzzle, before slamming my left fist into his chin sending him stumbling backwards a bit before he then looked at me with blood dripping from his muzzle before he took his turn, charging me with his powerful legs...he was upon me in seconds before dropping me like a ton of bricks on the floor with a single punch. Slowly I got up shaking my head, tasting my own blood, I then clinched my fists and sent a punch right to his face but I was soon stopped when he grabbed my arm, pulling me forward while driving his knee into my stomach, full force, taking the wind from me before I fell to the metal floor, holding my stomach as I gasped for air.

I then stood up once more, I was seeing red now and I attacked once more, sending a high kick to his head, but missed when he stepped back...I then lashed out with a roundhouse kick, but missed again when he once more stepped backwards. I was starting to get more and more pissed off by the second, and ended up pulling my dagger from my side and charged him...I had no idea what I was truly doing, I was so blinded by rage and sorrow.

Blaze reached out with one large paw, grabbing my wrist, holding the blade to the side, and like a bolt of lightning he had me by the neck with the other paw. He then slammed me up against the wall, lifting me up off my feet with a growl.

"STOP THIS NOW!!" Gina cried out, but Blaze ignored her.

"You don't think that we all feel your pain, Master? They was all our family as well...we had a lot of good friends in that base...we all lost someone...don't think you're the only one!" Blaze growled, his amber yellow eyes looking deep into mine, putting me in somewhat of a trance as I stopped struggling and just went limp. "We need you as a leader...a friend...don't let your anger blind you...We need you."

"Fuck...You." I retorted.

Blaze then grinned slightly, before kneeing me hard in the crotch as he dropped me to the floor. Slowly he picked up my dagger and walked away as I groaned slightly while slowly standing up.

"YOU!!! Gah!!.. Fucking low blow, Blaze!" I yelled before smiling softly. "Thanks...I needed some one to beat some since into me."

"Glad to help." he replied while sitting down.

"But did you have to knee me in the nads? what if I become infertile.?!"

"Don't be such a baby...you'll be fine...Gina will give you a check up later." he grinned while looking to Gina with a slight wink.

Gina giggled softly as she walked over to me and helped me sit down, before sitting down next to me. "You okay hun?" she asked while running her fingers through my hair.

"Yeah...I'll be fine...we have to get a hold of the other base commanders..." I replied while reaching over and stroking along her back. We all had a new mission now...and it was time to pull out all the stops...we have to stop the rouge UAA member...how I don't know...but we would do it come hell or high water...we'd do it for those who died.

(To be continued.)

Heh...little cliff hanger...I decided to just try and be simple...nothing to fancy this time...and it's a little longer than the last...what...three chapters I tossed up...

I've been having a writers block for some time but its slowly ebbing away with a new story I am working on...I hope you'll like this chapter and the new story I did yesterday. Cya.

Oh...Remember, Faves, Watches, and votes will make me work harder for better stories and such....if you want to point out a grammar, spelling or any other issue...you can...just be nice about it. Thank you.
