Plans in Motion

The white wolf ran madly through the woods. He was close to the vampire encampment. The stronger their scent became the more he wanted to kill. A stray vampire was walking alone through the mountain forest. The white wolf closed in on his target. He crept up behind the vampire through thick foliage. The vampire sensed something was wrong.

"Who's there?" the vampire turned around. He saw nothing but the trees, bushes, and patchy spots where moonlight shone through the forest canopy. The vampire smelled an odd odor in the air. He heard a low growl in front of him.

"It's one of those wolves. Probably a scout. I must go warn the others. The vampire thought. He turned and ran back to where the others gathered. As he ran the wolf bolted from the bushes in pursuit. He ran past the vampire and waited in front of him in thick bushes. The vampire looked back expecting to see his attacker, but nothing was there. Something was different about this wolf that made the vampire run instead of staying and fight.

The wolf waited ahead of the vampire; he saw his prey running straight at him. The white wolf hid in a bush that was fully engulfed in the moons light. He shook and smiled a lustful smile as he waited for his unsuspecting prey to get close. As the vampire ran past the white wolf clawed the vampires foot, tripping it to the ground. The vampire screamed in pain as he saw his bloody broken foot, and turned to look what did it.

The vampire starred at in horror as the white wolf rose out of hiding. Rising to a height of seven and a half feet, and fully consumed by the moons light the white wolf appeared like a ghost. The white wolf roared at the vampire, and snap! Bit off the vampires arm, blood stained the ground. The vampire yelled and hissed in pain. He used his other arm and punched the wolf in the jaw. The wolf was not fazed by the hit. He bit and ripped off the vampires other arm. Once that was done he bit down onto the vampire's neck. He bit until he heard the bones in the vampires neck break. The wolf ripped off the head of the vampire, and howled into the night sky. Not far behind Erdir watched in shock as the wolf killed the vampire. He had not seen a wolf act like this in many years.

"This is not Christopher. Have created a monster? Or has it been that long since I last trained a wolf of this caliber? " Erdir said.

Once done the wolfs jaws were dripping with blood. His white fur was now stained dark red. He let out another howl into the night sky. He had great pleasure killing this vampire, and he wanted more. He smelled the air and ran in the direction of where the vampires had staged their attack on the Tallulah pack. He thirst for more killing like one thirsts for water. It aroused him and brought him glorious feeling of power.

Airies ran after the vampires that fell back. She knew they would come in for a third and final attack to finish off the pack. She ran quietly yet swiftly through the forest after the vampires. There was no sound in the mountain forest tonight. Here padded feet hid here movements. No other wildlife dare venture out. As she ran she heard a howl echo the warm night air.

I've never heard that howl before. I wonder what wolf that is. She thought. She followed the vampires to a small grove of trees further down the valley. She hid in the shadows in the bushes to hear what the vampires' plan of action. The vampire encampment comprised of one large tent in the center surrounded by about ten smaller tents.

Out of a large rectangular tent a pale skinned man strolled out. He wore black pants with an overcoat that was blue. He had blond hair that the neatly combed back behind him. As he walked out the tent a silence fell among the others. He walked hands clasped behind his back. His look very professional, and no emotion was seen on his soft featured clean shaven face. He looked around with brown eyes.

"Donte you have just returned from the second attack on the Tallulah pack. Is that correct?" The man said.

Dante a thin but toned guy stepped of the group of retreating vampires to see the man who asked the question, "Yes Praetor Ranthar."

"Were you followed on your return here? If not tell me how the second attack went." Ranthar responded.

Airies froze in fear. She hoped she hadn't been discovered. She looked for an exit route to take in case she needed to run.

Donte gulped, "No Praetor Ranthar we were not followed to the best of my knowledge. The attack went well I would say sir. Out of the pack of eight wolves two are seriously wounded and the rest are probably fatigued."

Ranthar smacked Donte across the face, "Only injured! Why didn't you kill them? An injured werewolf can still fight. A dead one can't. They have a remarkable rate of healing."

"I'm sorry Praetor. As you know the best trained werewolves form the mountain defense. It is hard to break their ranks and make them run." Donte said, "Or even kill them."

"Alright everyone listen up." Ranthar yelled, "I want this fight to be clean and quick. Once the Tulluah pack is removed that will gave our kind a crucial foot hold in the Kingdom of Wolvos mountain defense. We will be one step closer to controlling these lands, and one step closer to exterminating there kind from this part of the continent. Just like their wild wolf counterparts have been." The vampires laughed and joked at this, "So once again we go in kill all the wolves and get out. As many of you know our two kind are not officially at war. The politics of this situation are complicated. What we are doing however is necessary for us to prosper in the future. This means no werewolf is to be left alive. Now commence the third attack!" The vampires cheered. Some turned into their bat-human hybrid form and took flight. Others ran across the forest floor to where the Vogel pack was.

Airies bolted from the bushes she hid in and ran as fast as she could back to the pack. She ran right past of Ranthar, tripping him as she passed.

"That wolf heard our plan! Someone kill it! Kill it now!" he yelled. It was too late Airies was gone. She outran her pursuers that were on land and in the air. Moving like the wind through the trees. I have to warn Matthew and the others. We need to fall back if we are to live. This is a fight we cannot win. Even with the might of the full moon we cannot win this.
