Chapter:1 (Into the black)
Its was a peaceful day in a small town on the edge of the country of Anthrica as 6 small cubs where playing near a swamp as they ran about carelessly laughing, running doing things young ones do on a day in the summer, the temperature being around 73 degrees perfect for playing outside. The cubs consisted of a wolf, 2 foxes, 1 rabbit, and 2 tigers.
The wolf being rather shy and small though never knowing his dad he only knew he was a half breed causing him to be smaller than average wolves, his fur also being silky smooth and black with a white spot covering his eye, white ear, and the tip of his tail being white. He was watching the others run around as he had realized the sun was starting to set as his best friend ran up to him ,a white and black striped tiger, and asked through deep breaths "Hey Orion what's up, you look distracted?" as the small wolf simply looked at him and smiled "Nothing Rylan just realized the time mom said she wanted me home before sundown". Rylan looked at the sun and smiled "Well then we need to get going I done asked Mom and Dad and they said its alright if I stay at your place tonight figured you could use some company." Rylan said ,as he really did want the company he just hoped his mom wouldn't embarrass him again like she always does but it would be fine if she did Rylan had done seen her many times and knew how she was. Orion smiled his casual smile he always had and said alright well lets go, Rylan turned to the kids they had been playing with and yelled "See you guy we gotta go.", the others then turned and said their goodbyes as the two began the walk to Orion's house Rylan decided to start up a conversation, "So has your mom been doing better?" Orion looked down at his feet as he walked "Not really, she promised me 3 weeks ago she would at least slow down she seems to fall deeper in every day." , Orion's mom was on what he liked to refer as "funny stuff" everyday she would either be passed out or so high she was drooling all over everything. His moms habits started after he was born because she fell into a wrong crowd and a deep depression, it eventually began to get bad to the point to where she would become mad and abusive any time he talked to her to much, made to much noise, or anytime she couldn't get any of the "funny stuff" which the "funny stuff" not only did she have those problems Orion had to cook for them, clean, and the whole shibang but regardless he lived his mom, after all other than his dear friend Rylan all he had and even before him was his mom so he was willing to have to be mature to take care of her but sadly only Rylan understood what his mom meant to him.
Suddenly Rylan interrupted his thinking "Hey look it will all be fine your mom has hard I meant she does some pretty bad things but its clear she loves you more than she shows she's just got a few.........problems." Orion replied with "I know I just wish I could like have a conversation with her without her cussing and hitting you know what I mean?" Rylan "Yeah man just be patient surely she will come around eventually." Orion "Yeah I guess it still sucks though I'm 8 years old now but I've never really......you know.......had anyone to look up to that's in my family to you know?" Rylan I know just try to have hope something got give eventu......oh yeah that reminds me I saved up my allowance so I could get you a present." Rylan pulled out a box "Here this is for you." As he extended it Orion took it, rather surprised at the random gesture Orion asked "What is it" as he opened it. His eye quickly as he saw the 2 Gameboys with all the Pokémon games Rylan "Well Orion I know you've never played and wanted to so I pffffttt.....hey." as he was interrupted by a almost tackling hug from his little wolf friend Orion "Oh My God thank you so much you're the best friend ever and I mean literally!" Rylan smiled at his friend and gave him a light hug in return "Its alright dude you are like my little brother I would do bout anything for ya." They both then continued on to talk about games and T.V. shows lucky for Orion he at least had cable thou he had to do work for an old farmer named Estel Rormer which was hard work but was well worth what the farmer paid him. As they arrived at Orion's home they quieted down as they approached the old house that visibly needed some maintenance as they walked in the screen door squeaking loudly as his mom sat there injecting something into her arm, the only difference was she had her "friends" over which could be some real freaks as his mom smiled and said "Orion come here I got someone for you to meet." He responded with a "Yes momma." And walked over happy she was talking to him at all even with slurred words that where hard to understand his mom gestured a fox over to them as he walked over smiling a yellow tooth smile "Hey little man I'm your moms new boyfriend I'll be staying here from now on with you guys." Orion looked at his mom with that "WHAT!!!" look as she said "Oh it will be fine he is a great guy you'll love him." Not wanting to rouse his mothers anger he nodded and went on to go hang with Rylan.
