#7 of The Amazing Race 3

Previously on the Amazing Race, our teams got to have a little practice with Cricket. Although some teams had an epic fail. And we mean EPIC fail. Afterwards it a visit to the library and straight run to the finish line. The cab drivers won. Again! Sadly, the show had to say goodbye to the mothers, April & Maggie; and they will be dearly missed... NOT! Who cares about them? It's time for... the Amazing Race.

***

"We're back in Kingston, Jamaica," Toner appears at the last starting point. "Today's forecast is clear skys, seventy-two degrees, with a little destructive force from our remaining fourteen teams. As usual, yesterday's winners leave first."

Vito & Donna leap into the picture and the former takes the tip. "It's a One-Way," he observes. "'Glide and slide to the place where silverware hides'... Huh? Que-ce que nous faisons?"

Teams must take glider planes over the water all the way to Puerto Cortes, a coastal city in the country of Honduras. This nation is widely known for its ancient Mayan ruins; which will have a key factor in this leg of the race later on. Once teams land on the coast, they must strip into scuba gear, dive to the bottom of the beach together and search for a set of silverware with their next tip attached.

The cab drivers get in the first glider and they're flung into the air first to soar towards Puerto Cortes. The next seven teams follow suit, with the magicians parting last. The other six teams are forced to wait an extra fifteen minutes before departing.

As those teams catch up, some discuss strategy. "Starting out in last place is not very good," Lucius says. "Not only does it mean that we could be toast any day, but it means if we don't up our game, we're going home."

"I'm not ready to leave yet," Max objects. "This game I just getting good. No way am I missing out on anything." He leans over and gives his wolf a quick kiss.

Felix let Toby sit in the front since his father was a pilot. "Fox?" Toby sighs. "I feel like the first few days we were doing great. However, the last few days we came in seventh and eleventh."

"I know," Felix replies. "What happened? We're such a great team." He gives the tiger a teasing lick on his ear, which makes him giggle.

Ryan drives the plane over the water in silence as Josee has nothing to say to him. She is still a bit mad over their placing yesterday. "I mean, seriously; ninth place?" she complains. "Because of that, we had to wait another fifteen minutes?! That's ridiculous!"

"I thought you were going to keep silent," Ryan barks. This woman is getting on my nerves, he thinks. But, whatever. This day cannot get worse, right?

Josee grumbles and watches the sea go by.

Echo sits in the back of the YouTubers' plane. A remote camera rests in her paw, filming the ocean as they glide by. Majira glances back and sees this. "Where in the world did you get a camera?" he asks.

"Remember the yacht ride?" Echo asks. "Well, he let me borrow one of his cameras in case something interesting happened during the race."

"This is a reality show. Isn't everything filmed?" No response.

Mac sits in the back of the plan him and his father got inside. "I still can't believe you wouldn't let me drive the place," he says.

"Are you kidding, bud?" Kaleb asks. "You're still a little cub. This is the kind of thing that adults such as myself should be doing." He loses focus for a second, making the plane rattle and shake for a second.

Zack takes pictures of the ocean. "This is so awesome," he says. "We haven't gotten to see the water up close this much since we left for this race."

His partner, Chris, however, growls. "Can you focus on the competition?" he asks.

"But, you're the one driving the plane. What exactly can I do at this moment?" Chris tries to think of something, but only stutters and grumbles when he thinks of nothing.

Vito & Donna continue their lead with the latter of the two driving. Why not? After all, her mom was an aviation expert. She's been in planes like these before. For example, just by looking on the inside, Donna can tell this plane is a Schleicher ASH 25.

Land starts to come into view of the cab drivers. "Yes!" she cheers. "First place, here we come again!" Before Vito can say anything, something crashes into them and they start to dip towards the water.

"We're crashing!" Vito shouts.

The glider that slammed into them passes. "Sorry!" Sindy calls out, even though they can barely hear her. "I've never driven one of these things before!"

"Then why would you offer to sit up front?" Sally asks. The telephone operators take the lead. Their plane smoothly glides across the water and then lands on the beach perfectly. Both vixens hop out. "Huh. So this is what Puerto Cortes looks like."

"Scuba gear! Come on!" Sindy spots the crates full of goggles and oxygen tanks. They strap them on as they dive into the sea and begin searching for silverware.

More teams begin to arrive. The shop owners and actors land in the sand with little to no struggle. One plane spinning end over end comes crashing down away from the others. "Whew!" Kaleb says. "That was close."

"Easy for you so say," Mac says. He holds a paw over his forehead where it throbs when he hit his head on the back of his dad's seat.

The cab drivers wash ashore as their plane had sunk. "I swear if I come into contact with those operators again..." Donna swears under her breath.

Cinnamon & Pepper land safely. The marines and magicians arrive to the shore at the same time (which makes Zack want to redo their alliance, yet Chris definitely won't let that happen after what happened yesterday). "Our gear. Come on, dude." Pepper pulls his friend from their glider and races with the others to catch up.

The first eight teams hit the water with the race for first underway. Carrie tries digging under the sand. Carla searches around some corals only to find a bunch of undersea anemones. Karen & Carol use their combined strength to lift a heavy underwater boulder, only to find nothing. THe main issue was that no one knew what the said silverware looked like; only to expect the next tip tied to it.

Zack wanders around, keeping his eye out. When he almost steps on an urchin, he squeals and tries to swim away. Chris growls loud and it goes away. No one messes with that fox but me, he thinks to himself. Shaking all thoughts of Zack, the wolf/husky goes back to looking.

Cinnamon turns 360 degrees, then looks closer next to a starfish. Some red fabric that looks rolled up sits next to it. Upon further inspection, he sees that it's the silverware they're supposed to be looking for. He taps Pepper on the shoulder and holds it up for him to see. The only thing on their mind: first place.

Pepper takes a deep breath of oxygen after breaking the surface. "Woah. You found them. Nice job," he says. Cinnamon blushes. They swim to the shore where they read their next instructions. "Roadblock," Pepper reads. "'Chow down'?" For this Roadblock, whichever teammate didn't play Cricket in Jamaica must chow down on a local delicacy: baleada (which is basically a tortilla filled with beans, quesillo or cheese and sour cream). After their plates are empty, teams must hop on a motorcycle and drive west until they reach Copan Ruinas, a Mayan ruin site that makes for a great tourist attraction. It also acts as this week's checkpoint. Last team to arrive, might as well begin to say, "I used to be on the Amazing Race".

The strippers pull ahead. The last six teams, though, begin to arrive at the beach. Cal & Ren make it there first. "It's about time! That plane is smaller than my own stomach, and that says something!" Cal says as Ren helps him out of his seat.

For the officers, the rabbit holds the front seat, while the fox has the observation end on the plane. "How much longer until we land?" Nick ask.

"I'm not sure," Judy says. "It could be another few minutes." She understands why Nick is a little worried: they've dropped into the bottom three yesterday. When this happens to someone, they either up their performance or get sent home now. At this point, they'd be lucky to even be recognized with so many other teams in the competition.

The keep-it-calm YouTubers make it to Puerto Cortes next. "So exciting!" Echo squeals. "I haven't gotten to hit the water since this whole game started."

"Yeah, but do we have to have this heavy tank?" Majira asks. "I thought they invented that scuba filter. What was that called?"

"The Triton?"

"Yeah. How come that isn't being used?"

"I heard there were still flaws in the design."

When Josee & Ryan make it, you can already feel the "love" in the air around them. Ryan quickly runs for the gear and straps it on. "Having some trouble?" he asks when he notices Josee cannot get her goggles on.

"No!" she snaps. "It's just that these things refuse to get over my eyes." The wolf goes over and sees the issue right away. The straps are too tight. He loosens them up to fit them around her face and storms off into the water, not caring if she was following.

The emperors and beneficial friends make it to the beach and race to get their gear on so they don't fall in last. The race for first, though, seems to be only the strippers. "I guess I have to do it," Pepper says.

"Good luck," Cinnamon says in ASL. The grey fox is handed a plateful of baleadas. Pepper unwraps the silverware and digs in, tasting not only the ingredients, but also victory.

The other thirteen teams are in the water, trying their hardest to catch up in any way. Sindy & Sally swim away from an electric eel as it slithers towards them. Parker tries digging as well, but only finds Carrie on the other end. Chloe tries to sift through plants to see if Toner hid them. She looks over and waves towards Zack. He, in turn, waves back, but stops when Chris gives him an evil glare.

Donna literally throws everything she can out of her way as she surveys her surroundings. Vito taps on her shoulder and shows her that he found on. "It was underneath a rock," he tries to tell her, yet only bubbles come out. She grabs his paw and pulls then upwards.

Felix looks around some harmless sea sponges when Toby turns him around. The tiger holds the next tip; the utensils tucked in his pocket. "I found the next clue," he tells him in BSL.

The brown fox widens his eyes. "You know sign language?" he asks in BSL.

"I know a little. I picked up a few bits a pieces from a certain cute fox I know." Toby winks.

Our teams begin to complete the One-Way and start to move on to the Roadblock. Chris finds the next tip, which somehow got stuck on Zack's footpaw thanks so a suspicious-looking ink. Ren finds his in a small hole too small to have been dug by a racer. Sindy looks near a crab and uses her fast reflexes to grab it before she can be harmed. Nick sees a tip somewhere he isn't comfortable going near: tied to the tail of a stingray. Judy follows his line of sight and goes for it. Max cheers when he finds a tip within a school of goldfish.

Those who completed the challenge run for the shore to get changed and then start the next task. "I can already tell why I like this," Lucius says as he gnaws into a baleada. "Because I enjoy meat!"

Sally stands aside as Sindy, who happens to be a picky eater, completes the task. "Why am I stuck with this?" Sindy asks. "I don't even know what's in it!"

"The tip said beans, cheese, and sour cream," Sally points out. "Come on! You like cheese and many variety of creams! Close your eyes and just eat them; I can't help you, remember?"

Vito watches as Donna eats like a champ as she did the first day. "I'm just as surprised as you," Vito tells the viewers. "This is impressive considering she's lactose intolerant and she can't stand legumes."

Ren just stares in awe as Cal woofs down all six baleadas. "Just how big is your stomach?" the black fox asks.

"Very," Cal answers. "Done!"

"You've got this, Chris." Zack encourages his friend as he eats.

The wolf/husky growls. "I don't need your help," he says. "This is a Roadblock. You're not allowed to be involved!" The fox pins his ears down. Chris sighs and continues eating. He's so cute when he's like that, he thinks to himself. No, no. Have to stay focused on the race.

As Toby eats, Felix just watches the tiger, seeming to be admiring his friend's muscles. He thinks about if they win the race, when they head back home so he can start to tease him like the way him and his cousin do. Up to the point where the tiger will push him down onto the bed and...

"Done." Toby breaks Felix's train of thoughts.

"I'm finished!" Pepper holds an empty plate.

Back underwater, the rest of the teams begin to finish the One-Way. The magicians find their next tip surrounded my algae. Majira feels something brush by his shoulder. When he turns, he sees a glowing purple fish along with Echo chasing it as it has the clue in his mouth. She catches the thief. Mac gazes at a blue whale that swims by. Kaleb eases his son back so he doesn't get hurt and swims for it.

Judy managed to get the stingray without getting harmed and her and Nick head for the beach. Carrie & Carla continue their strategies until Carrie finds a tip a couple inches underneath the sand. Carol finds a clue for the shop owners in a pile of clams. Of course, she thinks. Kaleb catches up to the whale and gets the clue from under its fin without him noticing.

Donna takes a deep breath and scarfs the rest of the dish down. "I'm done!" she says. Her and Vito hop onto a nearby motorcycle, riding off to catch up to the other teams.

Judy, Parker, and Majira start the task next. "Are you almost done?" Sally asks. She looks at her watch and sees that they've been at this task for nearly ten minutes.

"Almost," Sindy says, but she still has three more to eat.

How am I going to motivate her, Sally asks herself. She gets an idea. Clearing her throat, she says, "Come in, Sindy! Arnold is back home watching you. You think he's going to want to date someone who's afraid of the food on her plate?"

Her friend's speech makes the vixen turn on her game mode. She starts to chow down faster.

The shop owners and actors continue to stick together as Carol and Carrie get their baleadas and start to eat. "Woah! How come you guys are all ok with eating tasks?" Carla asks.

"You're joking, right?" Carol asks. "You're telling me you've never dreamed of eating all you want with no judgement whatsoever?" Carla shakes her head no. "You, my friend, have not lives yet."

"Sorry, she's on that weight watcher's program," Carrie apologizes.

"It's fine." Though deep down, Carol swears to make sure Carla loosens up before one of them are cut from the race.

Father and son move on to the Roadblock next. "Dad, we're falling behind again," Mac points out. "You need to woof down this meal like the wolf you are."

"I'm already on it, son." Kaleb growls and starts stuffing the baleadas in his muzzle.

Chris finishes the task next and literally pulls Zack onto a motorcycle. "How come I don't get to drive?" Zack asks. Chris revs up the engine and motors away before he can answer.

Sindy finishes soon enough thanks her Sally's speech. Lucius completes his meal with a small belch and a giggle from Max.

"Finished," Carrie says.

Carla relaxes as the actors hop on a motor to catch up.

***

A certain loud motorcycle rides through the country. Toner sits in a lawn chair by the checkpoint rug at the Copan Ruinas. He sips on a glass of cold water as the temperatures were rising in Central America lately. The sound of a motor makes his ears perk. "Time to go ruin lives," he says to himself.

The red dog gets up, kicking his chair to the side. He gets into his professional TV pose as the cycle stops and a certain two foxes run out to greet him on the rug. "Congrats," Toner says. "You're the first team to arrive."

Pepper shouts with glee and hugs Cinnamon.

The beneficial friends soon arrive with the brown fox pointing out the rug. "Hey, sex dolls! Look behind you!" A foreign voice fills their ears. Donna holds onto Vito while they slowly catch up to them.

"It's the cab drivers," Felix panics. "Hurry!"

Both cycles stop at the same time, all four of them running for it. With her past on her mind, Donna pushes herself more and the drivers pass their opponents. Second place looks imminent... until Vito trips and falls, knocking over her as well.

Toby & Felix hop over the fallen foxes and run past Toner. "Boys, second place." Toner then turns on his teasing voice for the next team, who pass by sluggishly. "Cabbies, third." Donna growls.

Sindy & Sally- 4th place

Cal & Ren- 5th place

Chris & Zach- 6th place

Max & Lucius- 7th place

Carla & Carrie- 8th place

Nick carries Judy onto the cycle as she got stomach cramps again as a result of overeating. Parker finishes and lets Chloe drive. "So, you think that the marines will let our alliance relapse?" the black tiger asks.

"I doubt it," Chloe says. "You saw the way Chris glared at us. But I do have to admit I feel bad for Zack. He seems to be unaware that his partner is so aggressive and unappreciative."

"Done," Carol proclaims. "Now let's go catch up so we don't come in last." Karen follows her.

When Majira finishes, he feels slightly dizzy. "Oh boy, I haven't ate that muhc in my entire life," he sighs.

Echo picks him up and carries him over her shoulder. "I've got you," she says. "Just stay awake a little longer so we can get on the road." The fennec takes the handlebars revs the engine to life. Majira wraps his arms around her as they take off.

Kaleb drops his empty plate onto the ground as they finish. "You think you can still drive?" Mac asks.

"I think so." Kaleb gives himself a second before starting to walk towards the motorcycles. Though he should let his son drive (as a common rule of large meals is to not go on a fast-moving vehicle to avoid motion sickness), Mac cannot as he's still only ten.

Judy & Nick- 9th place

Karen & Carol- 10th place

Echo & Majira- 11th place

Kaleb & Mac- 12th place

Chloe stops her and Parker's cycle and runs towards the checkpoint, both thinking they are in last place. When they land on the rug, Toner says, "Magicians, you've come in last."

"Really?" Parker asks.

"Nah. I haven't seen the daters yet. Speaking of which, where are they?"

***

As Ryan eats, Josee complains, "We could've been done with this a long time ago. But someone just had to look in a pile of fish instead of with his own girlfriend."

"I said we should've split up to find the tip easier," Ryan retorts.

***

The daters ride the cycle in silence as the sun begins to set, turning the sky a bright orange.

***

Toner can feel the tension in the cold night air as the daters walk onto the rug. "Josee & Ryan," he starts. "Not only is it the middle of the night; but you're the last team to arrive."

Josee grumbles. After hearing this all day and in previous legs of the race, Ryan grabs ahold of the chain necklace with his girlfriend's name on it. "That's enough!" Ryan shouts. "I've had it with your competitive rage! We. Are. Done!" He breaks the necklace and throws it on the ground.

The tigress gasps and growls. "You're breaking up with me?!" Josee screams. "On television?!"

"You bet your bottom dollar I am!"

Toner pushes the two apart. "Will you two shut up?!" he growls. "It wasn't an elimination leg. You're both still in the race. Happy?"

Ryan crosses his arms and huffs. "Fine."

Josee mirrors him. "Fine."

"Fine!"

"Fine!"

Toner walks away, taking the camera with him. "Where will this crazy race take us next? Will those two ever make up? I have my doubts. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't tune in; next time on... the Amazing Race."
