#9 of Kevin's Highschool Days: Chapter 1 The start of school

I got to know my new friends well. Now that I knew a little more about the Lucian brothers, it was time to experiment with Morrell and Ryan.

The perfect opportunity came around Saturday. My parents were taking us out to go bike riding and I invited both of them to come along for the ride. They both accepted the offer.

When they arrived at my house, their outfits surprised me. Ryan had a short sleeved Guitar Hero shirt showing a Kiss makeup guy sticking his tongue out and jamming his guitar and brown shorts. Morrell sported a red shirt showing a human male football team going for the win and a group of human cheerleader girls were cheering in the background and white shorts. I guess since Morrell used to play football at his old school and Ryan loved Guitar Hero, their clothes made sense.

Piling into my dad's van was a little difficult so the three of us got into mom's car while dad took the bikes. We drove down to Antler Lake to ride. The only downside was prepping the bikes. First we all had to haul them out, then apply fresh air into the tires and finally adjusting the seats before strapping our helmets on and beginning the fun. Since Ryan and Morrell had no bikes brought along, I offered the human to use my old blue bike and dad showed the orca a bike he could use he got at a garage sale.

Once the grueling work was finally over, we set off onto our journey through the forest. I had been here only a few times, but I absouletly hated the hill. My legs got tired quickly just trying to get up it and I couldn't wait for the bottom to arrive. As we got down the hill, I had an idea.

"Hey dad, I want to show Ryan and Morrell a cool place where we could talk for a bit and hang out," I called out to him.

"Will you be able to find your way back?" my dad replied. "I don't want to have to go scrambling all over the place trying to locate you."

"It's no problem, we can find our way back," I assured him. My dad said it was okay and then he and mom took off to continue riding.

"Where is this place?" Ryan asked.

"You'll see," I grinned.

We pedaled down the hill and detoured right. Once we stopped, we got off our bikes and walked them over to the special place I would show them. They were really shocked at the sight I had given them!

It was a beautiful clearing. There were tons of trees offering shade, a lake with crystal clear water although some of it was dirty with swamp scum and lilypads of various frogs. Even a couple of picnic tables and a rusty barbecque sat near the lake indicating that it was a private area.

"Wow, this looks like an excellent spot to hang out for a bit," Ryan sighed setting down his bike and lying up against a tree. "So what did you bring us down here for?"

"This thing," I replied pulling out my mp3 in a mini stereo system. Flipping through the songs, I picked one and set it down on one of the picnic tables.

"Nice one, what is it?" Morrell wondered.

"Bittersweet Symphony by the Verves," I answered. "I figured you 2 could have a bit of a dance to celebrate your relationship a bit. Both of them looked a bit confused at first.

"Aw what the hell?" Ryan said. He got up and embraced the orca's hands with his. Soon they were on the grass swaying slowly to the music.

'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life

Try to make ends meet

Your a slave to money then you die

I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down

You know the one that takes you to the places

where all the things meet yeah

I loved the scene, the human and his friend looked so great in love. I had always heard this song back in the 90's and when I was in grade school. Had to thank my dad for playing it so many times.

No change, I can't change

I can't change, I can't change

But I'm here in my mold

I am here in my mold

But I'm a million different people

from one day to the next

I can't change my mold

No, no, no, no, no

"Morrell this song sounds so great," Ryan whispered to him. "Kevin really seems to care about us."

"Yes he does," Morrell whispered back bringing him closer to his chest. "I think we really have found a great friend here in our new location." "We should thank him with a scenario like this."

"I'll need to call Canad and his brothers," Ryan said. "We should also inform Starfox and Kevin could call Shane and Ky to bring over for the fun." Since their backs were facing me, I couldn't see their sly smiles on their faces or even hear their whispering.

Well I never pray

But tonight I'm on my knees yeah

I need to hear some sounds that recognize the pain in me, yeah

I let the melody shine, let it cleanse my mind, I feel free now

But the airways are clean and there's nobody singing to me now

No change, I can't change

I can't change, I can't change

But I'm here in my mold

I am here in my mold

And I'm a million different people

from one day to the next

I can't change my mold

No, no, no, no, no

I can't change

I can't change

I was in love staring at these lovers slow dancing to a great song I heard as a child. Couldn't have asked for a better show.

'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life

Try to make ends meet

Try to find some money then you die

I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down

You know the one that takes you to the places

where all the things meet yeah

You know I can't change, I can't change

I can't change, I can't change

But I'm here in my mold

I am here in my mold

And I'm a million different people

from one day to the next

I can't change my mold

No, no, no, no, no

I can't change my mold

no, no, no, no, no,

I can't change

Can't change my body,

no, no, no

Both of them were really getting into a beat. It kind of reminded me of all those cheesy teen movies where the loser finally gets the girl and they're dancing under a disco ball at the prom and it was kind of cute looking. [Wait a minute, did I just think they looked cute?] I said inside my head. [Well I was bi so it really didn't matter].

I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down

I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down

Been down

Ever been down

Ever been down

Ever been down

Ever been down

That you've ever been down

That you've ever been down

The song then ended and the two lovers plopped down in front of a tree.

"That was great," Morrell panted. "Love you Ryan." He gave his human boyfriend a kiss.

"Love you too hun," Ryan said back with his own kiss in return. "Hey Kevin, if you want to put an arm around one of us, it's okay."

"Okay," I said. Walking over, I sat down next to Morrell and put an arm around him. "Wow this actually feels a bit weird."

"It does feel good, doesn't it?" Morrell asked me.

"Yeah, it actually does," I replied back. "I guess since I'm bisexual, it doesn't feel weird to have an arm around a boyfriend of a boyfriend because I also like girls too."

"Now that wasn't so hard was it?" added Ryan. "Oh we should probably get back to your parents now." Quickly standing up, Ryan and the orca stood up their bikes and strapped on their helmets as I pocketed my mp3 mini stereo system combo and went to get my supplies. Retracing our steps, I lead them out of the area and down the path to the parking lot. My parents were waiting for us.

"So how did you guys enjoy the private time?" dad asked me.

"It rocked!" exclaimed Ryan. "Your son is a cool guy, he showed us a special area and played a song for us to listen to while we relaxed."

"Oh that's so sweet!" my mom exclaimed. "Well I hope you had a good time biking." "If you want, you can come back to our house for a little bit." "Kevin's got a Nintendo Wii and he makes a lot of popsicles."

"That sounds great," Morrell piped up. "I've heard the Wii is a good system and we could use some ice cold treats after that sweaty ride." So once again, we piled our bikes into the van, I got into the car with my friends with mom and dad lead us back to the house in his van.

Back inside my living room, I set up the Wii with the remote for player 1 and popped in the Wii sports disc.

"Okay we got Wii sports," I told them. "We can play baseball, bowling, golf, tennis or boxing, but that's 1 player only." "Since I only have 2 controllers, we'll have to take turns so who wants to go first?"

"I'll go first,"Ryan offered. "How about tennis?" I selected tennis and the mii's for each of us. My mii wore glasses, white shirt and black hair and Ryan's mii had a blue shirt, brown hair and blue eyes. It wasn't too hard, Ryan picked up the game quickly and put up a challenge. I missed most of the balls and rematched him 3 three times, but I got impressed on how well he managed to pull off the fast ball. Then Morrell offered to play me and he pretty much gave the same results, but I only rematched him 2 times since my arms got tired from Ryan's skills.

"Whew you guys sure put up a good game," I panted sitting down from the games Morrell played with me.

"Not a bad game and a pretty good challenge I might say," Ryan told me. "Hey do you have any popsicles we could slurp on?"

"I got some rootbeer ones in a tray in the freezer," I replied. "Let me just get them." I quickly rushed to the freezer and pulled out the tray. Twisting it so they would pop out of the mould, I pulled out 3 and went back to the living room and handed them the popsicles.

"This is pretty good," Morrell said after tasting his rootbeer frozen treat.

"Thanks, I really enjoy making popsicles," I replied. "I also have some floats prepared too." Going back into the kitchen, I came back with 3 cups of black soda and vanilla ice cream.

"Hey lets make a toast to being friends forever," Ryan suggested. We raised our cups and clinked our floats together symbolizing that till the end we will always be best friends.

So there you have it, my second friendship fic and 9th chapter dedicated to Ryan-masterpaladin-lewis! Like to note a few things as usual.

  1. I do have a Wii which of course comes with the Wii sports disc

  2. Antler Lake is based off an actual lake I live near, but it's not the real name.

  3. Bittersweet symphony's lyrics all belong to group or band The Verve

  4. Popsicles are really something I do enjoy making.
