A green twinkle

I simply love tribal settings!

The search

A trail of paw pads in the sand. Waves washed them away as the white fox trod lightly along. Against the setting sun his arctic white fur was shining in a bright melange of gold and orange. Phrozt was a scout and travelling with only the bare necesssities: some provisions, several empty Per'cha leaves for his maps, black Hiac seeds and feathers to draw, a turnstone to navigate and his light clothing. This was unmarked territory for him and his tribe and he had already gone further than ever before. But something was drawing him to the horizon for several days now. Was it a weak green twinkle in the darkening sky? It vanished as he squinted.

This was surely his most exciting journey because he broke with the rules. The time of the solstice was drawing near, it might very well be this night, and no polar fox should be without his tribe then. He would not be with his tribe. He had ventured out too much, he had not turned around and he would miss the ceremony.

Phrozt felt the ocean breeze in his fur and the smell of salt and seaweed excited him. Where he came from there were only thousands of little freshwater lakes. But this, an endless horizon of noisy, troubled water, this was something new. Not far away the cliffs opened up and a forest met the beach. From here it looked like a torrent of dark trees flowing into the sea. Usually, vegetation at the coast consisted of low shrubbery and heather. He had not seen more than a single tree for a longer time. This little grove fascinated him and he gained speed. There, was it a green sprakle again? It was his spiritual destination. His search would come to an end there. He shivered in the breeze. And he did not notice how someone came walking towards him across the beach.

The discovery

Phrozt was surprised and cringed as he suddenly saw the big silhouette approaching him. He looked around and bent his knees, ready to flee. Then he saw a green sparkle in the corner of his eye. His body told him to take cover, but he was just too curious. The other one might not have spotted him, if he was fast, he could still reach the cliffs. Too late. As he scurried over the beach, he felt eyes on his back. His neck fur tingled, a sure sign that we had been spotted. He had hesitated too long and now he would find out what that sparkle was. His scout instincts led him to a a little hollow in the sand, surrounded by some clumps of grass.

Phrozt closed his eyes. In his mind, he saw a green light, the sparkle from before. What dark magic was this? As he lay there prone on the sand, the wind freshened and he heard his own heartbeat. And the footsteps. They came closer, and closer. Trembling, he exhaled, got up on his knees - and opened his eyes.

It was a big brown sea otter. He carried a necklace with a round stone and feathers on his head and tail. And nothing else! „Don't be afraid. You can call me Zake." he said, and he looked into the fox's eyes. Phrozt felt how his jaw dropped and he stared right back. These eyes were sprakling green. It was him, all along! „My name is Phrozt" he heard himself say. Then his attention swiftly shifted down between the otter's legs. Oh oh. That looked dangerous.

The touch

Phrozt sensed how the world was slowly shaking. Green dust was rising from the sand. „Come with me to see the sun and the stars" Zake said, and Phrozt felt how he was slowly standing up. Why? With rising concern, he began to understand that he could not look around anymore. His eyes were fixed on the green glowing stars in Zake's head. No! „Why do you fight?" Zake said. Or did Phrozt just hear the voice in his head? Enough!

The fox took all his willpower and closed his eyes. Then he turned around and started to run, but he faltered and fell into the sand again. His eyes were still closed, but he saw green light everywhere! Damn, there was no escape! „Too late. You are mine tonight." he heard the otter say. Then a strong paw grabbed his ankle and pulled him. „NO! Let me go! You don't know how my tribe will avenge me, you foolish water weasel!" Phrozt yelled.

„You lost something" Zake chuckled. Startled, the fox turned his head and saw how the big otter held his loincloth in one paw. Phrozt clenched his teeth in rage and embarrassment. „Give it back! What do you want?" he grumbled and covered his fox parts.

„I want you." Zake said and looked down upon him, his eyes glowing. Then he added „ And you should know that I always get what I want." Phozt felt how the green dust was filling his mind again and the last remains of his willpower were sucked from him. He was too dizzy to fight. He felt how strong paws lifted him up and it was good. A wet tongue touched his nose - and his mouth - and his tailhole! Phrozt noticed how he was drooling, but it was not important. There was something big and warm in his butt.

The whole sky was burning with orange, red and purple colors. It was beautiful, but no otter and no fox cared a damn.
