'Dark, nothing but dark, can't move, help, mother, father, must escape' thought the kobold before falling back into unconsciousness.

*time passes, kobold unconscious*

*Kobold opens his eyes, and starts blinking at the bright light, once adjusted he looks around and sees a strange looking man in what the kobold took to be some sort of dress, he then noticed he was strapped to some sort of table*

"Its alive, its actually alive, finally it has worked after all these years, the first step towards revenge is now complete" heard the kobold.

'what was that, why can I understand what that human is saying, maybe if I try communicating with him he can help me escape, ok, now that it seems I can understand human lets see if I can ask him for help'

"He...lp me Hu...man" said the kobold.

"Hu, haha, hahaha, it can talk, I made something that can talk, this proves those old fools wrong about the dark magic's they can be used to help, and no monster I will not help you, you will help me. Hm, I will need to name you, since you are my first creation and you seem to be abnormally intelligent I will have you lead my army, ok, lets see now, I'm thinking, ha got it, I will name you after the royal idiot that banished me to this forsaken forest, your are now Reinhard" rambled the human.

"N...ame?" said the newly named Reinhard

"yes, a name its what you are called by others, do kobolds not have some sort of naming system, fascinating, I always assumed that everything had its own internal naming system that was used to communicate with each other effectively"

"Kobold?"

"Yes, its what your race is, its what all the sentient races of this world call your kind, except for the high elves, but they like to be different and think they are too good for the rest of the world, anyway before we get further side tracked lets get to what I want from you, I have prepared a little, lets call it a test, for you."

*The human raised his hands said a few strange words that Reinhard could only just understand, and the straps that kept him in place began to undo themselves*

'Is he setting me free, maybe I could escape'

*No, he was not being set free, in fact he was now beginning to float off the table and he could not move,, he was being moved to a place he could not see, he could hear the terrified shouts of someone from the direction he was being brought, it was shouting that everyone had to keep away or it would attack, this however was only very briefly on Reinhards mind before he was suddenly falling and just as suddenly had hit the ground, the voice had suddenly gone silent, Reinhard looked around he was in a hole a few meters deep, however he was more concerned about the giant wolf in the pit with him*

"oh yes, before I forget hears some armour, a shield and a sword"

*The human raised his hand and said more strange words and the metal objects shot into the pit, one that seemed to be some sort of metal board with straps wrapped around Reinhard, he was very confused as he did not known what armour was, the shield, another metal plate to Reinhard attached itself to his left arm and the sword flew right into Reinhards right hand*

"Now Reinhard kill that worg for me"

"Why?"

"Because if you don't then you are more useful to me died, then at least I could dissect you to see how you work, and if you can't even defeat a worg then you are no good to me as my general, even though you appear to have the intelligence, if you can't fight then I can just sacrifice a few more people and repeat the spell that gave you your intelligence, perhaps you might count as eligible for the sacrifice. and I need good soldiers if we are to even attempt to get my revenge against the his majesty and the arch-mages" the human said calmly with a look in his eyes that said he thought that it was obvious to anyone.

*Reinhard turned to face the worg, and thought to himself*

'How am I going to kill that thing?, no wait if I talk to it maybe we could work together and get free, but how do I talk to it without the human hearing me, no lets figure that out later lets see if I can actually talk to this 'worg' first'

"Hello. Mr worg, can you understand me" said Reinhard

*The worg looked up, confusion in its eyes, then got up and started circling the edge of the pit, Reinhard doing the same so they where both on opposite sides.*

"Tell me, why I understand you, what are you, you look like you are half what I am and half human" said the worg in a growling voice.

"My name is apparently Reinhard, I am something called a kobold and apparently you are called a worg, and why shouldn't we be able to understand each other"

"We should not be able to understand each other because..." said the worg before getting interrupted.

"Kobold, stop growling at the worg and actually attack or I will kill you, and I don't want that, it would be such a waste of my time to go and try again" shouted the human.

'What, then that means if a am talking to the human I speak human and if I am talking to the work I am talking worg, what is going on'

"Worg the human seems to not understand me while I talk to you and he wants us to fight and If we don't he will kill both of us, so lets play fight until we think of a way to escape"

"Agreed. kobold how convincing should we make it?"

"I think that genuine enough that we don't get killed should do, so a proper fight without doing major injury's"

"Ok"

"Actually can't you just jump out of the pit?" asked Reinhard

"No, it is too high"

"Begin" said the human slightly annoyed that the kobold had not immediately followed his order.

*The fight started, the kobold was not prepared for the speed and strength of the worg, If he did not know this was a pretend fight he would assume that the worg was trying to kill him, Reinhard however could be more agile and dodge because even though the worgs movements where fast they where uncontrolled, occasionally giving and taking light cuts, then when he was backed up against the wall the worg creating a cut in the dirt of the pit gave him an idea*

"Worg keep attacking that section of dirt until you make a deep cut"

"Ok" said the worg confused as to why.

*Worg proceeded to attack the same spot, with the kobold dodging accordingly to try to make it convincing, the after a few hits Reinhard decided the cut was deep enough*

"Worg do you think you can jump while you have someone on your back"

"Ok, why?"

"I am going to stick this, shield I think he called it, into that cut and that should make it easy for you to jump up, however I cant jump that high and would have to climb taking a lot more time in which the human could stop me with his strange words, but if I go on your back maybe we can both escape" explained Reinhard

"Ah"

"Ok, ready, steady, go"

*Reinhard jammed his shield into the cut in the wall, ran and jump onto the worg then clung on for his life as the worg shot forward and jump up the wall first from the ground to the shield then from the shield to outside the pit*

"Ah" shouted the human before frantically saying the strange words

*Reinhard knew they would not escape and they where too far away from the man to attack him, then got an idea*

"Worg ran at the human as fast as you can"

"Ok"

*The pair began shooting towards the human, Reinhard raising his sword, he knew the man would finish his words before he got there but if he could just get close enough, and , NOW, Reinhard through his sword, the sword hurtling through the air, the pair immediately froze where they where, they could not move, however there objective was complete the sword hit its target, the human, he fell immediately, a pool of blood forming around him, Reinhard and worg where free from immobilization again, Reinhard got off Worgs back and walked over to the human, pulling the sword out of the man*

"(cough, cough) I think I made you a bit too clever" the human chuckled as he coughed up blood, eyes dimming, gone."

"What now" asked Worg

"First we should get out of this evil place"

*They looked around, it seemed to be a larger than average single roomed house, the windows where boarded up the whole place was messy and dirty, they both saw the slight light coming from the frame of the old door they rushed towards it*

"You ready?" asked Reinhard.

"As I will ever be friend" replied Worg.

*Reinhard opened the door, both blinking at the light and walked through, into a new world unfamiliar to them*
