Chapter 60

Everyone was angry with Ettoras for running off alone to save Yeneneshe. Palesa and Pili lectured Ettoras for ignoring them and going out the door. Pili went on about Ettoras being Etienne's heir, while Palesa pulled Ettoras' ear and called him a cub and threatened him never to run off alone again or she would whip him. Pili sounded as if she cared more about Ettoras as her duty, while Palesa made Ettoras feel as if he'd returned to have a mother or sister nagging him. Kayya ran to Ettoras and hugged him tight in relief - then shoved him in the chest and told him he was stupid and reckless. Zeinara told Ettoras not to scare her like that again or she would kill him, and when Ettoras told her that would defeat the purpose, they laughed, and he was surprised when she kissed his cheek.

Azrian was - ironically enough -- the only one who didn't scold Ettoras. She stood apart from the others looking tired and sad, but her eyes shone with love when their eyes connected, and he could see how relieved she was that he had returned. She looked so mussed and drained, he realized what he had just put her through, and he moved past the others to his mother and hugged her tight. Azrian slipped her arms around his neck and kissed his cheek, and he could feel it in her shaking arms how relieved and grateful she was to have her child alive.

Even though everyone scolded Ettoras, they were all very happy to have Yeneneshe back in one piece. The thought of one of their number perishing likely made the danger too real.

When Ettoras brought an unconscious Yeneneshe back to the house, she was cut and burned as if by magic, and it baffled him. Did the wild beasts pursuing them have magic? Nkwe was equally baffled but didn't waste time asking questions. He gently gathered his sister from Ettoras' arms and carried her to the master bedroom, intent on healing her. Ettoras sat near the hearth, and everyone then proceeded to question him

"You know we looked all over for you?" Palesa scolded. She sat on the armrest of the couch and folded her arms. "Pili and I fought our way through six of those creatures thinking you were dead."

Motsumi drew near, his worried eyes frowning. "Let him tell us what happened, Palesa. Yeneneshe's wounds did not come from one of the creatures. She was injured very severely by magic. If there is a sorcerer here in the valley, we should know."

Everyone looked at Ettoras, but he shrugged. "I don't know what hurt her," he said, frowning in frustration. He was sitting with crossed legs on the floor near the hearth in the living room, his great wings casting long shadows against the wall. He could smell Azrian standing behind him and felt her comforting paw on his head. Her touch soothed him, and he went on calmly, "When I got there, she was just standing in the grass, crying. There was no one else there."

Motsumi's frown deepened. "There wasn't a body, even?"

"Not even a body," Ettoras confirmed and shook his head. "She was alone."

"Maybe she drove them off," Zeinara said wearily. "Which means we've got a sorcerer and horny rabid monsters stalking us. Lovely."

Everyone went back to bed, and Motsumi volunteered to take up watch in Palesa's place. Azrian likewise volunteered to take Pili's place. Azrian and Motsumi then went to the front door and sat together, and Ettoras could hear their quiet murmurs from his seat beside the hearth. He was glad he couldn't hear what they were actually saying, though. Motsumi and Azrian were given to quiet, withdrawn conversations, and Ettoras knew they were likely talking about the gods and magic, things he didn't want to think about with S'pru burning away in the sky.

It took Ettoras a moment to realize Kayya was sitting near him. He glanced up to find her sitting on the armrest of the nearby couch, where Palesa had been sitting before. Her posture was relaxed, and her paws were in her lap. One leg was drawn up and hanging over the armrest. With her foot swinging, she looked almost like a child, but something in her eyes told Ettoras that she was a vixen now. So it was true: she had finally slept with Zeinara. And with Zeinara, she had probably known the sort of pleasures she had always secretly longed for, the sort of pleasures Ettoras could never give to her. Ettoras was happy for her and playfully grabbed her foot and squeezed it. She wasn't wearing shoes, and her feet were very ticklish. She laughed and pulled her little foot free. Ettoras loved seeing the little toes curl and spread. And he was suddenly very happy - after so many days of fear and toil - to hear her girlish laughter, to see her pretty eyes squint up with it. At least someone got to be happy in spite of the mess they were in.

"You aren't laboring under the delusion," Kayya said quietly, "that any of this is your fault, are you?"

Ettoras breathed a miserable breath. "No," he lied.

Kayya rolled her eyes. "Ettoras! You and Zeinara are peas in a pod, I tell ya. You know she kept blaming herself while you were gone? She thought you were dead."

Ettoras frowned at the fire. "Zeinara is a glutton for guilt," he said with a laugh.

"She tried to take the stone from Motsumi," Kayya went on somberly. "She was going to use it to set all the monsters on fire."

"Shouldn't we be doing that anyway? Why can't we just use the damned thing?" Ettoras wondered bitterly.

Kayya shook her head. "Because the stone is so powerful, it would be very easy to hurt ourselves with it, even while using it against the enemy. Motsumi says one has to be incredibly focused to use it without letting the fire spread rapidly. He says he's never possessed that sort of focus in the heat of battle and doubts the rest of us could."

Ettoras snorted. "Typical. We've got an incredibly powerful weapon we can't even use."

"I might just use it," Kayya said, "if you ever run off like that again! You could have at least old us what --"

Ettoras closed his eyes. "I know, Kayya. I know. I just thought . . . .I had to get to her! It as my fault she --"

Kayya made an impatient noise. "What happened to Yeneneshe was not your fault. Since when is it your duty to protect her? And why do you have to? Because you are male and she is female?" Her face contorted. "Because females are weak and need your masculinity to shield them?"

"Because I love her," Ettoras said unhappily to the fire. "You protect the ones you love. I'll protect you and I'll protect Yeneneshe and I'll protect Zeinara, and it has nothing to do with you being female."

There was a long pause, and then Kayya whispered, "Thank you."

Ettoras laughed softly, his eyes on the fire. "You don't need my protection anyway, from what I've heard."

Kayya went still. "What have you heard?"

Ettoras didn't look at her. "Yen says you blew Captain Howlett's head clean off. I didn't know you could do that. You were never very powerful." He smiled, suddenly very proud of Kayya.

"It's what drew us to each other," Kayya said with a half-smile. "You were the god-prince without any magic, and I was a sorceress of fire with no fire." She laughed hollowly. "Mother would have been proud of me that day. Yeneneshe said his eyes blazed before they burst."

Ettoras smiled sadly at the fire. It was true that Kayya had never been very powerful, though her mother - a follower of Ayni - had trained her in the ways of fire. Kayya's failure to produce any sort of magical might was partly the reason why she'd never made a match. Foxes valued magic very highly, and a sorceress with no magic could not protect her children and her home, could not defend her home from outside invasion. Thus, a sorceress with no magic was not valued.

Of course, there were those families who didn't mind Kayya's lack of talent. S'pru was such a peaceful place, devoid of violence and strife, that many families were willing to look the other way if a sorceress was without talent. Kayya's breasts were also of a very desirable size, so the line of males pursuing her had been endless. Such males went against the wishes of their traditionalist parents to pursue Kayya, who steadfastly refused their proposals, flowers, and heartfelt declarations of utter devotion. For years, Ettoras thought that perhaps Kayya was waiting for him to propose to her. Now he knew the truth: Kayya simply didn't like males.

"Kayya?"

"Hmm?" Kayya answered contently.

Ettoras frowned at the fire. "Are we still married?"

Kayya laughed. "I suppose we are. Does it matter? It hasn't stopped us from doing exactly as we please. I have been with Zeinara and you seem awfully cozy with Yeneneshe. I'll assume she's ridden the bone train."

Ettoras laughed nervously and felt his cheeks getting hot. "No! We h-haven't . . . I-I mean . . ."

Kayya's ears pricked forward. "Why haven't you?" she asked gently.

"I dunno. She wanted to back before everything at Canderly. I told her we shouldn't."

"Why?"

Ettoras' face contorted. "She was going on about the gods and destiny and I didn't want it to be about that. . . . I want it to be about us," he whispered to the ground.

Kayya leaned over and put her paw on his shoulder. "Then it will be. When the time is right." She smiled warmly at Ettoras, and his heart skipped a happy beat. Kayya got to her feet. "Goodnight, Ettoras," she said, and giving him a sweet peck on the cheek, she moved past him, letting her fluffy tail curl playfully around his shoulder as she went.

When Yeneneshe awoke, her body felt relaxed, as if cool water were rocking her, enfolding her. She thought it was Azrian's magic, and when she opened her eyes, she expected to see Azrian sitting at her side. But she saw Nkwe instead. Her brother was sitting on the edge of the bed with a worried expression, frowning as he smoothed his glowing paws over her naked body.

Yeneneshe glanced around the room. She was in a bedroom she didn't recognize, stretched out on an immense bed with the transparent white curtains pulled back around it. She glanced down between her breasts and felt her head spin. Nkwe told her to lie still. He had opened her coat and had pulled her arms out of it. She lay on top of it, completely naked. She could see the burns in her fur, the scorches where Hawkeye's magic had blackened her. The marks were fading away at her brother's touch. Nkwe's healing light hurt, just as it hurt before, but she could tell he was trying to be gentle. He was very bad with healing magic. Asres was ten times better.

Yeneneshe closed her eyes as her brother's gentle fingers caressed away her injuries.

"You are v-very lucky to be alive," Nkwe said in a voice that shook. "Hawkeye did this to you, didn't she?"

"Yes," Yeneneshe whispered hoarsely. "I killed her."

Nkwe frowned and shook his head. "No, child. She was already dead."

Yeneneshe's dark eyes frowned at Nkwe. Without his coat, his chest was bare, and she could see a white wolf fang hanging against the bulge of his pectorals. The healing light extinguished from his fingers, and he slowly removed the talisman from around his neck. He leaned forward and looped it over Yeneneshe's head, letting the wolf fang fall against her breasts.

"She was a spirit," Nkwe said, "come back in vengeance to harm you. I have worn this talisman for years to keep angry spirits away. Let it serve you now."

Yeneneshe lifted her paw and touched the talisman with weak, shaking fingers. She was weary with exhaustion, so weary she let her paw drop again. Nkwe looked at her in sympathy.

"The spirit t-told me you suckled Mogethis," Yeneneshe said hoarsely. She looked her brother steadily in the eye. "Is that true?"

"Yes," Nkwe said without shame. "When I was a boy, your sister gave me her breasts. She wished to pretend I was her child." He glanced at Yeneneshe's breasts. "Yours are very like hers when she was young. Two hundred years ago, her breasts were high and firm." He smiled. "They are larger and slightly sagging now."

"Did you ever fuck her?" Yeneneshe whispered darkly.

Nkwe frowned. "No. Your sister was given to Yfel. It wasn't allowed."

Yeneneshe stared at Nkwe in surprise. His words clearly indicated that he would have slept with Mogethis if it was allowed. "Would Mogethis have wanted that?" she asked in amazement.

Nkwe smiled. "No. Your sister was appropriately ashamed of such desires. Now rest, little sister." He made a move to rise, but Yeneneshe caught his paw. He sat again and looked at her questioningly.

Yeneneshe cupped Nkwe's face with her small paw, and he looked at her patiently. Her paw slid to the back of his neck, and she guided his face down to her breasts. Without hesitating, Nkwe rolled his tongue against her nipple and suckled with a hunger that startled her, turning his face against her breast and moaning. She sighed as the pleasure tingled through her, and she felt the lips of her sex swell. Hearing her sigh of arousal, Nkwe suckled her with sudden abandon, and her lashes fluttered when she felt his careful fingers slip between the lips of her sex and gently stroke her. He found her clit buried in the hot nest of lips between her thighs and gently stroked it back and forth between his fingers, until it was throbbing and hard and thick. She arched her back and moaned, thrusting her breasts against his face, and he suckled harder, deeper as he fingered her to a sputtering climax. She blushed with shame as her sex clenched and squirted against his fingers. He sat up, looking at her curvy, breathless body with narrowed eyes as he tasted his fingers. Yeneneshe lay on he bed, feeling ravished and weak and on fire as her own juices plastered her thighs. She clutched her breasts with sudden shame, and Nkwe smiled and gently pushed her paws away.

"Dearest sister," Nkwe whispered, touching her face with the back of his fingers. He pushed her mane from her cheek and smiled gently at her. "There was a tradition once, as old as Aonre is young, where an older sibling would teach their younger sibling about oral sex. It was the older sibling's duty to teach the younger, so they would be ready and unafraid on their wedding night. This was often done because the younger sibling would be given to another tribe and must secure their place within this other tribe through pleasing their new spouse. The tradition faded away as all things fade away, and siblings teaching each other such things became taboo, even disgusting." He sighed and looked away. "Such is the way of things. Now you really should rest."

Nkwe made to rise again, but Yeneneshe caught his arm, and he looked at her in surprise.

"Yen . . ."

"Teach me," Yeneneshe said breathlessly. "Teach me to suck cock."

Nkwe looked at her in shock, as if he hadn't just fingered her to a climax. "Someone could come in here, Yeneneshe. And you should rest --"

"Please," she said over him. She felt herself blushing as she confessed, "I want to make Ettoras happy. I want to make love to him . . . and I want to do it right."

Nkwe hesitated, but seeing the determination in Yeneneshe's face, he swallowed hard and unbuttoned his pants. Yeneneshe's lashes fluttered to see he was already hard. Her brother's penis was pink and thick and pulsing with veins. It dribbled clear pre-cum that slipped down into the nest of white fur that covered his sack. The hot smell of it aroused Yeneneshe. It was a musk that reminded her of Ettoras. In that moment, she realized she loved the scent of males.

"Be wary of your teeth," Nkwe instructed as Yeneneshe drew close. "Wet and slow is really good. You should spit on it first and then s-suck . . . oh . . . oh, Yeneneshe." Nkwe swallowed hard when his sister closed her mouth on him and sucked carefully, her head going up and down in his lap. She went very slow, her plump breasts hot against his sack, her mane tumbling down to hide the lips that pulled warm against his shaft. She was lying on her side, her tail lifting and dropping lazily behind the rise of her hip as she eagerly sucked him.

"Play with them a little," Nkwe whispered when his sister paused to lick his sack. "Kissing them feels really good . . . and licking . . . _oh. . ._Y-Yen . . . Yen, stop . . . I'm going to . . . in your mouth if you don't s-stop . . . Mmprh!"

Yeneneshe kept going. She wanted her brother to come in her mouth. She wanted to give him that moment of pleasure and to know that she had the power to do so to Ettoras. She sucked long and slow on his cock, savoring the salty taste as her slender fingers caressed and massaged his heavy balls. He put a shaking paw on her head as if to stop her, but when she glanced up, he was looking at her with hooded eyes that sparkled with hunger. His mouth was open and gasping. She sucked harder, until his erection was glossy and the drool was watering from her mouth. He grunted, and his cock tensed against her lips. She sputtered when the hot blast filled her mouth and gurgled to swallow it down. When she finally pulled her mouth away, his penis collapsed soft and pink on his thigh. It was still dribbling cum, and she licked it clean with an eager tongue, her head moving in his lap as he curled grateful fingers through her white mane.

Yeneneshe looked up at her brother and smiled, licking the cum from her lips. He touched her cheek with affectionate blue eyes and kissed her warm on the mouth.

"Sweet baby sister," Nkwe whispered, touching her face with reverent blue eyes. "That's enough for tonight. I have tasted the forbidden fruit between your thighs, and such sweetness . . . Ettoras is very, very lucky to have you. Just be certain he is aware of it."

Nkwe rose from the bed and buttoned his pants, and Yeneneshe felt an ache when he went to the door. She didn't want him to leave. She wanted him to stay and talk to her about the old times and the way things used to be. The more he spoke, the more she remembered his voice, remembered him talking to her when she was a child, singing to her, holding her. For the first time, she felt as if he belonged to her, not the other way around. She had control of his heartstrings, and she didn't want to do anything with that power. Except make him stick around and love her.

Yeneneshe sat up and swung her legs over the edge of the bed. "You're going to leave me again, aren't you?" she said solemnly. "When this over. You're going to go far away with Pili."

Nkwe paused at the door. "Yes, I am. You don't need me anymore, Yeneneshe." He smiled at her over his shoulder. "Hell, you never did." With that, he went out the door.
