The sun shone brightlyu though Snow balls window causing him to throw the blanket over his head . But the chirping o birds Kept him awake so he druug himself out of bed and into the kithen where w=he started cleaning and preparing the cpffee [pt; It was a late june da with a warm breeze blowing through the window but he felt yerrible. Fif hr ftink too much or did he his dinner notagree with him? #Who can say. But ther silences was broken as his cell began to ring and he answered it. "Hellow?" he said "hey Z whats up .....ya i can meet you on rou break ..... no problem okay see you than."
A loud yawn and shuffling of feet co9uld be heard as Ace and Naomi sstumbled out of his room and towards the kitchen. Filling their cups Ace chimed in "MOrning Snowpup sleep well?" "Ya you?" "Alwats . So whats your plans for today?" "oog nothing much food shopping, pay bills Z weants to meet me on her break and rtalk....." "Bout what?" he asked Naomi kept her mouth shut. She knew and wasnt about to tell him She knew Zella was going to spill her guts to him and courage it toook to doso but with Shemonis divce imminiant she wasnt sure it was a smart move "Dunno. tryingide the fact she knew "Well I guess it wont hurt. Shemoni's got an appointment wiht Kenji today so ya I'm free." 'I hope tou iknow what you are doing Z I really do.' thoughts swirled in Naomis Head. "Ah Poptarts the breakfast of cahmpions" Axce broke the silence.
" I'll pass dont feel like an extras injection this morning.: He may have had health problems but he kept himself in shape for sure. "So whats rou plans fr today tou guys>" he said tail waging "Work"came the unanimous reply. Ace worked as a mecchanic and Naomi worked as a stuylist attached to a massage parlor that Kenji so happened to work for which is how he came in to their circle of friends. "I love mty job I work 3 nights til midnight." "so basically tou're o the clock tomorrow." Ace said "Yeay;;;;; worth effort though." Snowball said.
Later That Afternoon
The coffee place was busy when Z went on her break. She sat down across from snowball with their usual whie cholate raspberry mochas and breathed no sure how to do this. "Sbowball...... I called you here to tell you that..i...I....." her nerves began to show as she started to chicken out "Yeah?" "I am just glad your still my friiend after all thesee years." she sweved and bailed on her plans afraid of what he woul say to her "Called me down to say that? Z We've been frinds since we were two. Ive alwayws known that you were grateful. Didnt need to call me down for that though i do enjoy the time we spend together." It wasnt much b7t she knew it was still alice and someday she'd make him hers. the bonds they shared could never be understood or broken.
Meqanwhile at the salon Shemoni was just arriving for her massage as Kenji led her into the room. "Hoq 7ou holdingup, hun?" he asked starting to work on her upper back and shoulders "Terrib le" she said "This whole thing is a nightmare they wont anull this wedding and im stick as a divorcee. You know how hard that makes it to get a date in this city?" she remarked "But if hes that rude and obnoxious why stay in that siuation? We all see wjat he does and its not right or fair to you. I dont know about rhe rest but I want you to be happy not sad and you wont be if you stay with some4one who belittles you and your career choice day in and day our." All her strggles melted away for this short time as the tension was melted away.
Naomi answered the door from the poundin g to find Z " I couldnt do it Naomi I wussed our." "she raised a n eyebrow "Maybe its for the best you both are great freinds imaine if that was wrecked by this =" she said "But I want him to know so bad. I want him to embrace me in more than one way. I know this sounds crazy ht I want a family with him The poor boy deserves something to go right and we know each other always have been inseperable from the hip" "Oh Hun I know but maybe this isnthte right path. I dont want you both creatinga rift between yourselves to have that friendship ruin would be a bad idea. Sometimes the thing you love most has to be let go and I think this is it." Z hugged naomi close tears in her eyes "I dont want to I want him to acknowledge me ." "I know hun I know." Naomi treid her best to soothe Zella and her nerves but couldnt' as she turned to walk home. Perhaps Naomi was right and they were meant for each other after all the mines on that battlefield just got a whole lot bigger.
Z shuffled her feet along the ground trying to forget she flaked out and said nothing; But those who are truley bitten cant let go easily and all she wanted was to prove herself and be his. They say friends dont make good lovers but she was determined to porve everyone wrong even if Naomi was trying to keep them both safe. But it dint make her night any bellter. She got hom ,ears drooping as she said hello d ignored her parents concerns crawling into bed and crying herself to sleep, skipping dinner.
"So Z okay bro" Ace asked Snowball as he got inside. "Yeah shes fine. She always is." he replied. If only he knew the truth and what was really going on. "Thinking of asking the gils at the video store out shes been flirting hardcore lateli." "You sure man gonna cross that bridge finally?" "Makers the joke funnier dude." he laughed and so did Sjowball. The boys laughed as they spent the night reveling in their huymor unaware of the events transpiring next door. But the storsm is rough before the calm and little did either of them know what was to come.
